It had been a while since the last time Natto trained with his elder brother, Miso. He had been too busy training on his own and since they weren’t that close, they could spend days or even weeks without seeing each other. Even since their last fight, they hadn’t seen each other at all. Natto was still really disappointed with himself since he had been defeated despite giving his all and surpassing his own limits, creating the enhanced version of his signature technique, the Tyrant Lancer. Nevertheless, Miso’s power was way greater than Natto’s, reaching its peak at almost 30.000 when the younger saiyan still had a power level of 16.000. Natto did indeed push Miso to his limits and almost managed to him the bout, but he was still not strong enough to overpower his brother.
Natto wanted a rematch, he was much stronger now and, even if Miso had improved in anyway, he would still want to fight, since it would mean surpassing his own limitations again. Truth be told, he was training as hard as he could and as often as he could. His weighted battle suit became something like a second skin to him, since he was using it everywhere from the time he woke, to the time he would sleep. To feel that pressure on every single action took its tools on his body, hindered his maximum power output, but also helped him grow much faster than it would be normally possible. The only thing better than the weights was the gravity chamber, but that wouldn’t be an option for quite a while, not until Zucceta and her squad came back from Arcose, victorious on their war against the damn changelings.
The encounter was settled by a scouter’s message, and the place Natto chose was the very same place they fought last time, on the mountain area of the desolated badlands of Planet Vegeta. This time things were different. The wind wasn’t blowing so much and the sky was clear, with the full moon standing proud on the sky. Natto got there early and sat on top of a rocky cliff, staring at the stars, taking care not to catch any glimpse of the moonlight, since it would make him become a Great Ape, and he didn’t want it. At least not yet. His mind was quite agitated. ”What is it to be strong?” he asked himself. ”Why do I want to be strong so bad?” he sighed, frowning his eyebrows as his mind ran wild. ”I know I want to become stronger… The strongest that I can get… But why do I desire that? Is it because of the people I allowed to die? Is it because of the fear I feel deep inside my heart, that a villain can come and wipe the saiyans out again… A villain like Virtual Poi? Why is that my responsibility? Why can’t I just ignore this feeling?” even though he had answers, he was still not quite sure about them. It felt like something was lacking. ”I’m not like everyone else… I don’t find pleasure in killing our enemies… I do that out of necessity… It’s either them or us, right? Anyway… Why do I need to become a super saiyan?” he closed his eyes, taking a deep breath.
Suddenly, the memories of his felucian foster family came to his mind, followed by the memory of his father and even a faint memory of his mother and her platoon. They were all weighted responsibilities he carried upon his shoulders. He also thought of his brother, who was quite strong now, but still too simple minded to be considered out of risk. Miso was pure brutal strength, but not a sharp knife. ”If I were stronger, maybe they would all still be alive… I would not rampage on Felucia, and I would be able to stop whoever killed my parents platoon… But that’s the past… I can never change it, and it should not keep me prisoner to it… I need to think about the present… What motivates me right here and right now… And I can only think about my race’s survival… My brother… Even though we don’t have a very close sort of relationship… It improved, indeed, but still… He is pretty much an acquaintance to me… I can’t call him a friend…” he sighed again. All of those motivations seemed somehow too abstract to him, in a way, like they could work but not quite as much as he needed them too. Nonetheless, Tomoroko came to his mind, making his heart skip a beat immediately. ”Tomo…?” he gulped as he thought about that girl he had met a few days ago, and was already getting so close. She was the closest thing to a friend he had, or at least he thought that that was the sort of feeling he had towards her. He wasn’t completely wrong, but it wasn’t quite right either. He was falling for her faster than he could notice, but he was also to oblivious to that feeling. Just thinking about her made him nervous and anxious. He wanted to see her again, he wanted to get stronger so that he could protect her from any harm, and that motivation made a fire lit up inside his heart, compelling him to get up on his feet, clenching his fists. ”I have things to protect… I cannot stay here, questioning myself!” he ordered himself.
Before he could think any further, though, his scouter beeped, detecting a power level of 8.500. Natto stared at that direction immediately. ”It is higher than before, but it has to be him…” and he was right. Flying from that direction, there came that 7’5” muscular titan that was Miso, with his light-blue ki aura engulfing his body as he drew near. The big saiyan landed on a cliff near Natto’s and smirked, glaring at his younger brother. – So, maggot… My scouter detected a power level of 20.611… You increased quite a bit since last time, but that’s still a maggot to me! Are you really willing to get beaten to the pulp again? Hahahaha! – he laughed as he folded his arms, with that conceited smug upon his face. Natto answered by getting into his fighting stance, sliding his left foot to the front, bending both of his knees, placing his left hand right in front of his head, with the middle and index finger bended, while his right arm was near his body, elbow bent and fists clenched. Miso chuckled. – Not in a chatty mood I see… Huhuhuhu… Just gonna make beating you more pleasant! – he bragged, as he assumed his battle stance, with both his fists clenched to the side of his body, and legs spread apart with the knees bent.
– Are you getting cocky because of your new power level?! I can take off my weights at any moment! Hahaha! – he said, trying to tease Natto, who only stared at him, saying nothing. In response, he vanished, startling Miso who had not chance of defense, as Natto reappeared behind him and roundhouse kicked the back of his head, sending him flying through a couple rocky mountains, before hitting the ground so hard, he opened a crater. – You talk too much… - he said as Miso flew right through the stone. As Natto landed on the cliff his brother was standing on, he spoke again. – Hurry up and take of your weights! I’m not here to play games! – he said in a rather cold tone that was completely alien to him. ”I have no time to waste, Miso! I’ve got to test myself! If I can’t manage to beat you, then I will not be able to protect Tomo… And I cannot accept that!” he thought, gritting his teeth.
Miso flew up, throwing away his weighted gloves and boots, making his power level rise to 17.000. Natto’s scouter beeped with that but it was still not all of his power, and that made the younger saiyan angry. – I don’t like your attitude, you piece of trash! I’m going to teach you a lesson! – Miso growled as he rushed at Natto, with his light-blue ki aura flaring it up. However, when he got close enough to throw a punch, Natto jumped high into the air and somersaulted, rolling his body in the air as he felt back to where Miso was, hitting him with a powerful heel blow to the head, making him pierce right through the cliff Natto was standing on. As he hit the ground, Natto charged his ki on both his arms quite a lot, bringing them to the side of his body and, just as he did that, he threw his hands, one after the other, firing a barrage of true energy spheres at Miso, in a powered up version of his Continuous Energy Bullets.
– Stopping messing around or I will trash you! FINISH BREAKER!!! – he shouted, as he fired his brand new attack. The energy spheres made big explosions everytime they hit the targed, crating some craters on the ground. After around 5 blasts, Natto stopped, staring at the dust and smoke they created. Suddenly, a loud thud could be heard and Natto scouter beeped again, showing now a power level of 34.000, which was Miso’s current maximum potential. ”About time…” he thought to himself, as his brother took of his weighted battle suit. He was slightly injured as he managed to dodge some of the energy spheres with some proper body movement, and he finally seemed pissed off enough to take things seriously.
The older saiyan dashed, flying right towards Natto with some serious speed. The younger saiyan got ready to engage and soon an intense exchange of punches, blocks, dodges and kicks began. They would attack each other, vanish and reappear at the same time, hitting each other with another sequence again and again. The shock waves of their blows would roar through the skies of Vegeta, making the rocky structures around them to crack and to shatter, as they kept the intense struggle. Miso was currently stronger, but Natto had more readiness and was being able to anticipate most of his moves and counter accordingly, much to the older saiyan’s frustration. Miso didn’t understand how he was being held back by the seemingly weaker saiyan, as it made no sense whatsoever inside of his mind. – Why can’t I beat you?! Damn you, maggot! I’m stronger than you!! – he shouted, as he kept on pushing as hard as he could. – Don’t cry like a little kid! Aren’t you yet aware that pure strength isn’t all?! – he answered with the knowledge he acquired when he fought against Xylo, the Red Eclipse namekian a couple weeks ago. He was the stronger between the two of them, but the namekian managed to outsmart him and defeat him without being badly injured. That’s when Natto learned that a stronger power level doesn’t always mean that someone will achieve victory.
However, to hear that only made Miso angried and he distanced himself from Natto, firing a barrage of light-blue colored ki blasts, to which the younger saiyan responded by dodging most of them, but even though he had the control of the fight, there was still a limit to what his body could do being restrained due to the weighted battle suit he was still wearing. Natto got hit by a few of the blasts, and had to resource to crossing his arms in front of his body, to block those blasts and reduce the damage he would receive. Miso seemed quite satisfied on hitting Natto and chuckled. – What happened? Unable to keep up? – he provoked Natto, as he thought he was getting the upper hand on that fight. Natto responded by smiling with the corner of his mouth and staring at his brother, as he started to charge a flame-like energy on his right hand, the same technique he used on their last fight, making Miso so angry that he gritted his teeth. – Screw you! – he shouted, as he dashed forward. He was too fast now for Natto and managed to punch the younger saiyan to the face, sending him sailing through the air. Before he could recover his balance, Miso vanished, reappearing behind him and grabbed his face with his hand, diving towards a rocky mountain and slamming Natto right through it, making him pierce it all the way to the ground, destroying the small mountain and making it crumble on top of him.
Before Miso could celebrate his attack, a big energy burst came out of Natto’s body, destroying all the stone that fell on top of him, as he used his explosive wave to get his path cleared and rushed forward, with his energy charged on his right hand. Miso couldn’t avoid this attack and was hit by the energy punch right at the stomach, spitting blood as he got hit. The impact sent him flying upwards, as Natto stretched his hand, opening his palm and released the big blue-colored energy wave towards his brother. – I will finish you! Super Tyrant Lancer!! – he shouted, as he fired the energy wave. The older saiyan only had time to bend his body, crossing his arms in front of his face and chest as to reduce the impact area and then a big explosion took place, as the attack hit the target. The skies were covered by the smoke of the explosion, and Natto stared at it, with his brows furrowed, as his scouter detected that Miso wasn’t knocked out with that attack. ”He is truly a beast…” he thought to himself, as his warrior’s instinct made him smirk. He was getting rather excited with this fight as it was on a totally different level from last time.
They were almost even, with Natto having a little of the upper hand, since he had been through some intense training regiment, having the opportunity to fight against some topnotch members of the army, such as Mayze and the super saiyan Kaula herself. All of that greatly improved Natto’s fighting style and instinct, to the point of making the gap between his suppressed power level and Miso’s full potential to be reduced considerably.
– What… What is going on?! How are you becoming so strong?! – Miso asked, feeling furious and rushed forward, to engage again in close quarters. His rage was his fuel and guide and he managed to surprise Natto again, hitting him with a strong knee to the stomach, making the younger saiyan to spit some blood. Following that he started punching Natto to the face as fast and hard as he could. The younger saiyan was being punished quite a lot, before he could manage to land a kick into Miso’s face, making him step back a little bit, giving him enough space to recover his balance. ”He is still dangerous! I cannot let him get the upper hand! I’ve been doing great so far…” he thought to himself, as he reassumed his battle stance, carefully watching Miso’s body language.
– Answer me!! – Miso demanded, as he dashed forward again, almost on a blind rampage, to beat the answer out of Natto. This time, though, the younger saiyan was ready and avoided his first punch by rotating his hips to the side as the attack grazed beside him, and countered with an elbow to the face, sending Miso flying. Following that, Natto dashed landing a powerful kick to Miso’s back, sending him flying up into the skies, rolling in the air without any sort of balance. Natto bent his knees as he gathered impulse and momentum and vanished, reappearing above his brother, sledgehammering to the ground, shattering it, making a huge mess of stone and dust inside the newly formed crater. ”Time to finish this… This battle is on a total different level from the one before… And I need to make sure I’ll be able to end it right here and right now… I need to proof to myself that I’m surpassing my limitations… Both in strength and in skill…” Natto put his hand forward with his fist clenched and suddenly opened his palm, charging his ki into his right hand, forming a blue energy sphere. Then he drew his arm backwards before throwing is forward, towards Miso. The energy sphere was rather large, larger than the last time he used it as he was putting quite a lot of his ki into it, making some veins to pop out his temples, neck and arms. ”Come on! Overcome your yesterday self, Natto! And keep going that way!” he motivated himself as he fired the large energy sphere towards Miso.
– It’s the end of you! Super Spirit Cannon! – he shouted as his energy attack scratched through the air. Miso had not time to dodge and tried to stop the attack with a ki energy wave. It wasn’t even capable of forming a beam struggle as Natto’s attack was quick to overpower it. Miso screeched as he was hit by the energy sphere, causing a very large explosion on the ground, shattering cliffs around it. Smoke took over the ground as the dirt was thrown everywhere and, up there into the skies, Natto was panting. Sweat was pouring down his face as he tried to catch his breath back. His heartbeat was racing quite a lot, but he had done it, he had defeated Miso.
”I did it! I dominated the whole fight and I utterly defeated my brother! I overcame that obstacle! I’m indeed growing… And I’ll be able to protect Tomoroko from any harm! I will keep on growing stronger, so that even if that freaking android is to come to Vegeta, I’ll be able to face him and emerge victorious! That’s the only way she can be safe… That is the only way the saiyans can be safe!” he thought to himself, as he started hovering down, in order to help his brother, taking him to a healing facility. However, before he could land on the ground, he heard a huge familiar roar coming from where Miso was. Natto gulped immediately. ”Oh, come on… He did not do that…” his fears became reality as, out of the smoke, a huge Great Ape emerged: Miso had stared at the moonlight, angry that he lost the fight and now was resorting to his monstrous transformation. ”This is gonna be tough…” Natto sighed, as he frowned his eyebrows, getting ready for a fight.
Round two was about to begin.
