NOTES: Heavy Weights On, PL — 45,529 Planet Vegeta had a rich yet jagged history, one filled with spilled blood, destruction, loss and intense struggle. The planet didn't always belong to the Saiyans; in fact, they took it by force from their neighbors, the Tuffles, a result of their poor and inhumane treatment. The Saiyans were being treated as slaves by the much smaller but more intelligent and technologically advanced race, and enough was enough for them. The full moon clenched the victory for the Saiyans and ever since then, the planet was named after the Saiyans' king, King Vegeta. Much like Arcose, the planet was harsh and difficult to live on but it was arguably more inhabitable than the frozen ice sphere known as Arcose. In contrast to the Arcosians' home world, Planet Vegeta was a desert world with wastelands claiming most of the planet's landscape. It had two natural satellites and full moons were a rare occurrence, unlike Earth, as they only happened every few years. The gravity was another big difference; Vegeta's gravity was at least ten times more than the gravity of planet Earth. If you weren't used to increased gravity then you would definitely struggle to move and operate if you decided to take a trip to planet Vegeta. Allegedly, the planet's intense gravity was what gave the Saiyans their natural physical strength, resilience and power. Beryl knew firsthand how much gravity could affect one's training; if the pressure of intense gravity was ever present, then it was a no-brainer figuring out how the Saiyans were a generally powerful race. Beryl had only been on Vegeta for a day and he was already getting sick of the Saiyans' attitudes. They were arrogant like the Arcosians but unlike the snooty Changelings, they always wanted to find some reason to fight. All it took was a simple look and you would have a full-out brawl on your hands. It was painfully obvious that Beryl was human. For one, he was typically smaller and shorter than the average Saiyan. Secondly, his dark skin tone was another dead giveaway. Left and right, the monkey-tailed aliens picked fights with him, confident that they would get their daily dose of beating someone's face in. However, every single time, they were surprised when they discovered that Beryl wasn't a pushover. Some, frankly, got their asses kicked; others managed to hold their own against the ki researcher. Even if the constant fights were starting to get annoying, Beryl couldn't help but admit that they provided excellent combat training. Not only that, but he managed to make a few unexpected friends along the way. Whenever he wanted a good fight, he had a healthy list of Saiyans he could phone up. However, instead of resorting to the "Fight List", Beryl instead visited one of the major training hubs in planet Vegeta's capital, Cacumber Capital. Cacumber also served as the headquarters for the Saiyan Empire or what Beryl better knew it as the Saiyan Solar Empire or SSE. It worried him a little bit that he was within the capital of one of the most powerful galactic empires known out there. His talk with Kryo flashed through his mind, and a concerned frown slid across the twenty-three year old's lips. "Don't worry about that right now," he thought to himself, rubbing his forehead. "You have a goal right now and that goal is to get stronger by any means possible." The training hub he was in was state-of-the-art and was jam-packed with combatants of all different shapes and sizes. Saiyans composed a majority of the facility's visitors with a few other races and species sprinkled amongst them. Beryl was one of the few non-Saiyans within the facility and of course, he got a few strange looks as well as a slew of condescending comments spat his way. Rolling his eyes, Beryl leaned back in his seat. "They make me want to listen to Kryo's rants rather than have to hear them flap their lips all day ..." And that was saying a lot, a whole lot. Fifteen minutes passed by before Beryl was called up to the receptionist's desk; they had found an empty training room that was available for use. After giving information about what kind of training that he was hoping to do, the young human casually walked through the facility before locating the room he was assigned to. The door opened with a mechanical hum and Beryl stepped inside. From a simple glance, it was similar to any standard training room except for a few Saiyan modifications. Apparently, they had really went out of their way to make sure that the room wouldn't collapse or blow up. Beryl could see why; whenever fighting was involved, Saiyans had a nasty habit of causing a lot of collateral damage. The room itself was about one hundred meters in every direction, meaning that there was plenty of space to maneuver, fly and whatever else required a sufficient amount of room to do. "This room actually seems pretty good. Excellent. Excellent." Beryl pulled at his green, knitted cap, one embroidered with the Capsule Corporation emblem. "I wonder who I'll be going up against. It's most likely going to be a Saiyan, all things considered." It was safe to assume such, since most of the facility's visitors and available fighters were Saiyans. "If that's the case, then there's no way that I can hold back, even with this thing on." With that, he tapped a strange device attached to the brim of his pants; it was a specialized machine that could increase the weight of its wearer by whatever amount desired. It worked just like training weights, except it took up much less space and was able to be worn inconspicuously. "I just need to make sure this thing is calibrated correctly," Beryl muttered as he fiddled with the circular device. It made a few bleeps and bloops as it was messed with, alerting Beryl that its settings were being changed. "The last thing I want is for this thing to get messed up during the spar." That alone would spell disaster. Whenever Beryl's opponent would show up, they would be greeted by the sight of a young, dark-skinned human screwing around with some kind of weird machine-looking thing. Natto

[Thread Power Level: 16.965] Earlier today Natto tried to go to the gravity chamber for some intense training session only to be denied entrance as it was already being used without any foreknowledge of when it would become available again. He got quite disappointed as he was getting kind of addicted to that mean of training. He was also tired of training by himself without the incentive of the augmented gravity. With that in mind, the second best option would be the training hubs located at the Capital.
”I hope I can find a strong sparing parter…” he thought as he walked through the city, going toward one of the major training hubs, usually attended by middle to elite class saiyans. It wasn’t very common to find aliens on that specific training hub, as they composed only a small fraction of the facility’s visitors. And Natto was fine with that as he had some degree of distrust towards them after all he was a planet conqueror of the saiyan race and spent most of his life annihilating civilizations for the purpose of expanding the Saiyan Solar Empire.
As soon as he got to the balcony the kagami on the other side asked if he had any preference, to which he responded by shaking his head. With that answer, the female kagami gave him the entrance card to the training chamber no. 18 and he went straight there as he wasn’t in the mood of wasting anytime with chit-chat along the hall. Even though he still waved for fellow saiyans acquaintances which was the closest sort of bond he had after his brother.
When he got to the room he used the card to open the mechanical door and stepped inside. His eyes immediately caught the strange creature that was standing there, making one of Natto arch an eyebrow. That was some weird creature. He had a strange skin color and seemed to be rather young but still a little older than the saiyan. He also had some sort of weird machine-looking thing with him that he could not define what it was.
The first thing Natto did was touch the button on his scouter to scan that human’s power level. “A power level of 11.382… He is strong, but nowhere as strong as me!” he quickly analyzed the difference in their power levels and felt confident enough for the fight. Following that he took a couple steps forward into the room, allowing the mechanical door to close.
– You have guts to come to Vegeta and challenge a saiyan for a sparring session, I will give you that. – he said, staring at the human’s eyes. – However you will find no easy fight here! I’m Natto! And I’m a proud member of the saiyan army! – his tone got harsher.
Natto assumed his fighting instance, consisting of sliding his left foot forward while turning his body to the right a little. His knees were slightly bended. Left hand forward a few inches from his face and right arm bended close to his body, with his fist clenched. He has a serious expression on his face with sharp eyes looking for the slightest sign of movement from the human. Word Count: 535

The door opened and Beryl looked up. A young Saiyan stood in its entrance, decked out in the traditional Saiyan armor and a red scouter. Natto had arrived just in time; Beryl had just finished calibrating his heavy weight simulator to the correct settings. After hooking the machine to his belt, the ki researcher straightened himself up and got a better look at his supposed sparring partner. Natto was a little bit taller than Beryl, about two inches or so, with a muscled, hardened physique. His hair was black and shaggy, the standard amongst all Saiyans, and his skin tone was lightly tanned. Patiently, Beryl waited as Natto read his power level. It was being displayed around the eleven thousands, a false reading. Still, it would give Natto the confidence he needed to still proceed through with the spar. Even if Beryl was using his full power, he didn't expect for Natto to give up and not even try; giving up went against the Saiyan way. "I guess what I'm doing is pretty gutsy," the twenty-three year old admitted. "However, this is one of the only places on this planet where I'm guaranteed to get a good fight." He motioned towards the younger male. "You're evidence of that. A member of the Saiyan Army? You're right; this definitely won't be easy on me." A dark-skinned hand patted at the weighted device attached to the human's pants. "But, with this device's added weight, your power and mine are roughly equal, with yours being a little bit higher." Ki sensing was such a useful technique to have; it allowed Beryl to get an accurate reading of a person's power-level with just a simple thought. However, like any technique, it had its drawbacks; if someone was actively suppressing their power, then Beryl wouldn't be able to read past it. Even so, it still gave him valuable information about whoever he was going up against in battle. When Natto slid into his battle stance, Beryl did the same. Unlike Natto, Beryl's fighting stance reflected a standard boxing stance, modified for a left-handed fighter. "My name's Beryl, by the way," the dark-skinned human introduced, dipping his head in a short nod of acknowledgement. "Also, I hope the two of us get plenty out of this spar." With that statement finished, Beryl launched himself forward. His feet were an inch off of the ground, ki circulating through him to keep his body afloat. Even with the immense amount of weight on his body, Beryl was still able to move quickly, enough to force Natto to react just as quick or quicker to avoid taking damage. Once Beryl got into melee range, he would send a flurry of quick jabs Natto's way. It wasn't an overly threatening attack; it was more of a means to see what Natto was capable of, what his habits and tendencies were. Figuring out an opponent's fighting style was one of the first things that Beryl did whenever he was in a fight, for it allowed him to devise an appropriate plan to counter their strengths and exploit their weaknesses. His initial blur of attacks would most likely lock the two of them into a fierce, close-quarters bout, with each throwing strikes whilst simultaneously blocking, parrying and dodging blows sent their way. Even with his assault, Beryl remained stalwart and attentive; the last thing he wanted to do was to let his guard up. He had experience with fighting Saiyans in the past and he knew just how brutal they could get whenever they wanted to. Natto

At least that weird looking alien had some sort of common sense, as he could recognize that the saiyans were always a worthy challenge. It was indeed true: You could always find a good fight in Planet Vegeta, be it by accident in a random encounter in bar, at the training hubs or even a life to the death in some random badland. The safest place of all to actually be able to fight a saiyan with the lowest casualty possibility was the place they were. He had been respectful but his other comment made Natto frown a bit. ”A device to add weight? Is he saying that that weird device is handicapping him?!” that thought led the young saiyan to glare angrily at his opponent.
Following that statement the alien introduced himself as Beryl, saying that he hoped for a good spar in a polite way, but Natto was already angry by the weight and responded in a harsh tone. - If you intend on fighting me handicapped that’s on you… But I can assure you will deeply regret underestimating me! – as soon as he finished speaking, Beryl launched himself forward flying with his ki. He was quite fast for someone who claimed to be with extra weight on his body. The young saiyan stood still on his fighting stance, waiting for his opponent to get into to melee range. As he didn’t know anything about that earthling, he choose to wait, to be able to learn about his fighting style and react to it accordingly.
Beryl started by sending a flurry of quick jabs, to which Natto dodge with skill. Natto was faster than him on the weighted state and he was a good fighting instinct allowing him to wait until the very last second before dodging the punches just a few inches. The reason for that is simple: there’s a point in the duration of the attack, usually after the user apply the strength necessary to hit, that it cannot change its target any more. The difficult thing is that this moment usually happens when the attack is about to lend, require a lot of skill and attention to be able to dodge. That is called “go no sen (後の先)” in the world of martial arts.
Natto would use this concept to keep on avoiding the blows, as he had the advantage of being faster at this current situation. After getting a hang of Beryl’s rhythm and total speed, he would try his counter. After just dodging a jab by rotating his hips, to allow the punch right next to his face, he would bend his arm and aim for an full powered elbow attack to Beryl’s face.
The young saiyan would test his opponent with this attack and, may he hit, he would reassume his fighting stance, provoking his foe to try again, with a smirk on his face.
Should the attack fail, he would somersault back after trying as fast as he could, reassuming his fighting stance as soon as he landed, further frowning his eyebrows. Word Count: 516

Natto didn't seem too happy about Beryl purposefully handicapping himself. The act wasn't done out of arrogance or overconfidence; it was done so that the fight could actually be fair. If Beryl used the full extent of his power, then the battle would be completely lopsided in his favor. That did not mean Natto couldn't win; no, it was quite the opposite, but Beryl wanted to rely purely on his skill in order to see him through a battle, not an overabundance of strength. Plus, the training weights benefited him greatly and he would gain nearly twice as much as power from this battle as a result of fighting with all of the added weight. "I'm not handicapping myself because I'm underestimating you. I'm doing it to increase my gains and to make this fight fair. I can assure you if I had these weights off, this fight would not be even in the slightest," Beryl explained whilst he continued to throw his punches. Natto was able to avoid them without too much trouble, and that was to be expected. He waited until the last moment to skirt out of range of the punches, a common martial arts technique taught to fighters from the very beginning. It was a way to deceive your opponent, to catch them off guard at the very last moment. Beryl knew all too well that a counter-attack was going to come soon but he kept his rhythm up, confident that he could translate it to reactive defense when the time came. When his last punch missed, Beryl noticed the Saiyan's stance change. His hips rotated, alluding to his next move. Adjusting, Beryl tried to defend against the elbow heading towards his face, but he was too slow. The strike crashed into his nose, jarring the human's skull. His vision jumbled up for a split second but even with the strike he just endured, Beryl almost instantly recovered. A dark-skinned hand shot towards the Saiyan's stomach in a vicious hook. It was a hard blow, one that aimed to temporarily stun the soldier. Regardless of whether or not the hit was successful, Beryl would immediately follow the hook up with a left haymaker, straight for Natto's right cheek. It was an extremely hard hit, one that sacrificed accuracy for pure, unadulterated power. Beryl wasn't the type of person to sit by and wait to see whether his attempts were successful or not. With each and every strike, he continued to move forward, independent of whether his previous strikes hit true or not. After those two distinct blows, if the situation permitted him, Beryl would try to get in close to the younger Saiyan once again before sending another flurry of punches his way. Unlike before, he was trying to purposefully force him to block or return strikes of his own at the same pace. He did this by throwing feints and by switching up the types of punches he was throwing. The flurry was a mix of jabs, straights, hooks and elbows, all intermixed in order to make them more difficult to completely avoid or block. Natto

That earthling was a real gentleman and fair fighter. If he was facing a reasonable race he would probably be seen as that. But he was fighting against a saiyan and saiyans were so proud to the point of being fools when it came to this kind of kindness and Natto felt completely underestimated and disrespected with his statement. ”Not even in the slightest even?! This freaking alien is really scorning me!” he thought as they fought, culminating in that heavy elbow to his face. Natto hoped for the blow to be incapacitating, but that earthling recovered a way too quickly which impressed him. ”He is not half bad…” he came to realize that he may have not actually bragged about his strength which only pissed him off even more.
Immediately after he came forward throwing a vicious hook toward Natto, to which he dodged by back stepping swiftly. But almost instantaneously the earthling attacked again with a haymaker targeting his right cheek. Even though the young saiyan was at that moment considerably stronger than that earthling was, that blow was too dangerous. He had to avoid it at any cost. Luckily that blow wasn’t the more accurate one and the saiyan managed to dodge it again just barely as it almost touched his face as he pulled his head back, tilting his body on that movement, leading to a temporary loss of mobility implying that he wouldn’t be able to dodge the following blows.
Natto had to block the following attacks, which he did skillfully as he was a capable fighter with some degree of experience in close quarters combat as his main sparring partner was an almost exclusive melee inclined fighter. His method of defending himself was more focused on slightly deflecting the target of the blows instead of absorbing its raw power, showing that he had a fighting style directed towards saving his own strength and using the opponents attacks as an opportunity to attack.
Nonetheless, he was being pushed and as he managed to take a couple steps back, readjusting his posture, he lowered his guard for a split of a second that wasn’t wasted by that earthling, that feinted him making Natto block a blow that never happened, leaving himself opened for a strong jab to the face. ”Dammit! Gonna get out of this beating zone!”. Immediately after that hit, Natto jumped backwards and before he even touched the floor again he vanished, using all of his speed to reappear about 3 feet from Beryl. He knew that the earthling would guess correctly that he would reappear behind him, but it didn’t matter, he had already realized that Beryl liked close quarters and that distance was more than enough to give him time for what he was about to do, since his foe would still have to turn his attention to him before doing anything.
With his arms by the side of his body, charging a great load of blue energy, he started throwing one hand after the other, firing countless ki blasts in a rapidly succession.
– Take it! Continuous Energy Bullet!!! – he shouted as he kept on firing the ki blasts. He wouldn’t spend too much energy with that, just aiming for a few hits or he would stop after 10 ki blasts.] Following that, he would land again, reassuming his fighting stance, waiting for Beryl’s reaction. He was starting to realize how dangerous the enemy was. He was indeed an experienced fighter. Word Count: 581 Tech used: [PL of 5.605] Continuous Energy Bullet [N1]: The user usually brings their arms to their sides, charges up ki, and then he throws his hands forward one after another as he rapidly fires many energy blasts. It is effective for quick, widespread, and massive amounts of damage, but it is very draining on one's own ki level. However, if the user is powerful enough, he will be able to avoid the ki drainage effects of this combination technique.

That elbow really hurt. Beryl's face stung and ached, his nose in particular bearing the brunt of the damage. However, even though Natto was noticeably stronger than he was due to the training weights, a single blow wasn't about to be incapacitating. Well, not just an ordinary physical blow. If it was a charged-up energy attack, then the possibility was definitely there. However, Beryl was taking every single precaution he possibly could in order to ensure that he wouldn't get knocked out by a single, powerful hit. It would make the entire spar end prematurely, and that in turn would retard his possible gains in strength, all because of these stupid weights he had on. No, he couldn't blame it on the weights; this was mostly on him. Beryl had to learn how to play with the cards he was dealt with, or in other words, use the strength he had to achieve victory. Being strong and powerful were great perks, but both ultimately meant nothing if you didn't know how to use them. Beryl was being faced with the same situation. Natto managed to dodge both the hook and the haymaker. While the hook was expected to be dodged, Beryl originally thought that Natto's confidence would get the better of him. He was betting that the Saiyan soldier would try to either block the haymaker or try to take it head-on. However, Natto had some combat sense, a good thing, since if he would've got hit by the haymaker, he would've been in a whole of hurt right about now. It was clear that direct attacks had little effect against Natto. Now, if said attacks weren't telegraphed, then that was a different story. Glad that Natto fell for one of the feints, Beryl wasted no time slugging the Saiyan in the face with a hard, left-handed jab and was about to continue the thrashing before Natto suddenly disappeared. "Oh, he's fast too," Beryl said, stopping mid-punch. He looked left and right before looking over his shoulder. Just as he expected, Natto shimmered back into view, already in the process of his counterattack. Blue energy outlined his arms, a sign that a ki-based attack was about to surface. After announcing the technique's name, Natto unleashed a flurry of blue ki blasts, ten in total, all with the purpose of overwhelming Beryl. Continuous energy attacks, like Natto's personal technique, had the benefit of area-of-effect damage and hard pressure, making it ideal to use whenever you wanted to hit multiple targets or if you wanted to force your opponent to go on the defensive. Plus, attacks like that usually hurt ... a lot, especially if you were unlucky enough to get hit by every single one of the ki blasts. However, one of the downsides, was that rapid-fire attacks like the Continuous Energy Bullet cost a fair bit of energy to execute and if used in quick succession, could lead to an enormous amount of physical fatigue. Natto was wise to not go balls-out with the attack since even if it did hit, it would cost him a sizeable amount of energy to do so. "?!" If he wanted to avoid getting blasted to smithereens, then Beryl had to use most of his available energy for straight-up defense. So, he did just that. His knees bent before he suddenly broke into a full-out sprint. He moved erratically around the room, rolling and jumping to add to his evasive movements. Blasts crashed into the floor, shaking the training room. Thankfully, the structure remained steady; it was built to withstand this kind of abuse after all. Three energy blasts got too close for comfort. The good news was that Beryl had his guard up; the bad news was that they still hurt. Each blast dissipated into smoke, which further added to the growing cloud of smog that started to fill the room. It masked the human's position temporarily. The room would get eerily quiet and after Natto's feet touched the ground, the silence would continue for a second or two. Then, Beryl suddenly reappeared to the right of Natto, using the smoke to mask his arrival. His right knee shot towards Natto's thigh, aiming to bruise the thick muscle. After the attempted knee strike, Beryl immediately broke into another flurry of fast punches, aiming for every part of the Saiyan's upper body. "That was an impressive technique," Beryl complimented, still throwing those punches like crazy. "I haven't seen anything like that before." He knew ki-based attacks as well, but he didn't want to use them, not yet. He felt more at home with straight martial arts anyways. Parts of Beryl's Capsule Corporation hoodie were smoking and sizzling. The dark-skinned male's face contorted into pain, an obvious sign that the damage he sustained so far was starting to get to him. However, he kept pushing forward. He would have to use more power if this kept up. Natto

That earthling was quite something! He was evading Natto’s Continuous Energy Bullet with quite a load of skill. Beryl broke into a full-out sprint, moving erratically across the training room in some remarkable speed, which impressed the young saiyan even more. ”Goddammit! If I went all out with this attack I would be completely depleted of energy and into some serious trouble right now!” he thought as he fired more precisely his last three shots, focusing all his attention into anticipating Beryl’s movement; it was his only chance of hitting that guy and he couldn’t afford to waste any more energy in vain.
His focus were rewarded as he managed to actually hit Beryl. ”Hah! Gotch’ya!” he celebrated internally. The room was filled with smoke after that and Natto was concentrated looking around for the enemy that was hiding within the smoke. He knew for sure that that fight was far from over considering the huge potential he saw in that earthling, and if what he said was truth, he was far stronger than that. However, he didn’t come for a counter right away, which intrigued Natto. ”Where is him…” his hand reached his scouter button, to activate solely the tracking mode, but that movement opened his guard slightly and on the very moment his scouter beeped, it was already too late, as Beryl came dashing from within the smoke, appearing right on Natto’s flank.
– What?! – he exclaimed.
It was already too late to be able to dodge that new attack. The knee to his thigh made his body bend and he screech in pain, spiting a little bit, but without any trace of blood yet. Following that, he started receiving a rain of quick punches to his upper body. As he beat Natto down, he complimented his technic, which made the saiyan angrier. – Ugh…! Argh…! W-why you…! – he howled as he got beaten for a few extra blows. ”This guy is a heavy hitter! Can’t afford to keep on being punished like this!” he groaned and started deflecting the blows, recovering his guard. ”I’ve gotta use that!” feeling pushed, he had no other option but to take advantage of the fact that Beryl should not be used to fighting against saiyans. He managed to feint missing the timing of one of the blocks, but as the punch neared his face, Natto moved his body, rotating it all to the opposite side of the arm and in the middle of his roll; he would use the rotation of his body to strengthen his surprise attack.
As he rolled, dodging the blow he feinted almost receiving, he unwrapped his tail from the belt-like fashion wrap around his waist, tail whipping Beryl’s face as fast and strong as he could with it, as he landed again, on his fighting stance. Even among saiyans, using the tail as a fighting tool was quite rare and some sort of ace up their sleeves, or even a desperate attempt to retake the upper hand in a dire situation.
Missing or not, he would at least take some distance from the earthling, to start over the fight in a more advantaging situation. Word Count: 531

Again, Natto was incredibly smart for not expending all of his energy into a single attack. Saiyans, not all of them, had a bad tendency of going all out from the very beginning. By that, they put all of their power and energy into one powerful, earth-shattering attack in an attempt to finish off the fight as quickly as started. Sometimes, it worked, if the power-level difference between the two was great enough, and if the opponent didn't have any sort of way to defending themselves against the attack. Other times, though, it was an absolute failure. Not only would their attack be evaded, blocked or completely defused, but a large store of energy was gone in a blink of an eye. This led to a handicapped fight from the start, a handicap that was not in the Saiyan's favor. It was a good thing Natto didn't repeat the same mistake that many others had: putting all of your effort into one attack. Saiyans were stereotyped for being big, dumb, stupid brutes and unfortunately, some of them were. However, that didn't mean all of them were; Natto was one of the distinct exceptions, at least when it came to fighting. Beryl could see the excitement on Natto's face, the brief celebration that came when he realized that his Continuous Energy Bullet wasn't just a complete waste. Unfortunately for Natto, there wasn't much time to celebrate, because now he found himself in a dangerous zone: close-quarters combat. It was where Beryl was at his deadliest and where he felt right at home. Even as the dark-skinned human politely complimented the Saiyan soldier, he continued to pelt the tailed warrior with several hard punches, ones aimed at the face, chest and stomach. The knee to Natto's thigh from earlier helped immobilize the Saiyan temporarily, enough to where Beryl was able to get him caught in his rapid-fire combo of jabs, hooks and straights. Did Beryl feel bad about beating Natto up? Not really; he knew that the Saiyan could take it and that even a combo like this wouldn't be enough to severely damage or completely knock him out. What came next though was unexpected. Another punch was en route for Natto's face. However, at the last moment, Natto managed to slip out of the way, the ki researcher's fist nearly scraping his cheek. Brow sloping downward, Beryl was already expecting a counterattack but not the one that Natto was fixing to unleash on him. In a flourishing movement, the Saiyan pivoted and spun around, gathering momentum. Out of the corner of his eye, Beryl noticed something heading towards him. It wasn't a fist or leg but rather the soldier's tail. "WHAT?! No way!" Before Beryl could do anything, the tail smacked him right in the face with an unholy amount of force. Spit flew from his mouth as he was knocked clean off of his feet. He went sailing through the air before hitting the ground with a hard thunk. Even after the landing, he continued to skid across the ground for several meters before finally rolling up onto his feet. Immediately, Beryl reached to grab his face; it felt like he had just gotten whacked with a damn steel pipe. Then, as his hand lowered from his cheek, a clear, tail-shaped mark rose from his dark skin, an obvious testament to how hard Natto thwacked him. Beryl smiled softly. "That was good; no, that was excellent. I've never would've expected that." He had to give it to Natto; he was a resourceful fighter. "No wonder you're part of the Saiyan Army." After that, Beryl extended his left arm forward. His left hand formed into the shape of a gun with his index and middle fingers extended forward while the rest were curled into his palms. His thumb pointed upward, acting like the gun's "hammer". "Alloy Cannon." With that thought, a sharp eruption of orange energy spewed from the young adult's fingertips. It was like a shotgun blast, a culmination of fragmented ki blasts that had the potential to do very noticeable damage. After the first Alloy Cannon left his fingertips, Beryl fired a second one. However, he waited until Natto reacted to the first Alloy Cannon, whether he got hit by it or not. Now was about a good time for him to display his ki-based abilities. At first, he held off on using them, since he wanted to see how Natto handled himself in close-quarters. Now that the Saiyan was using his tricks, Beryl only saw it fair for him to start using his! [ Alloy Cannon ] N1 [PL:3,756] Beryl forms a hand into the shape of a "gun" with his index and middle fingers extended forward and his thumb pointed upward. A orange-colored, fragmented blast of energy then erupts from his fingertips like a buckshot shell fired from a shotgun. However, unlike a shotgun, the power of the blast does not dissipate the further it travels. Natto

He was indeed a resourceful fighter but only recently, he started to develop a smart strategy when he fought. If Natto and Beryl fought a few weeks ago, he would have already wasted all of his ki energy trying to overwhelm the earthling with sheer power without any regards for his own energy reserves. Nevertheless, the young saiyan started maturing as a warrior. It is true that most saiyan never mature into true warriors. Don’t get me wrong. Saiyans are fierce fighters but most of them are not true warriors, as being a warrior is something way greater than letting his heart be taken over by rage and attack like there was no tomorrow whatsoever. In addition, to fight that skilled earthling was what he needed: a reassurance of the correctness of his new way of thinking. As much as he didn’t like to admit, he was being pushed to extreme lengths and this fight was being one of the toughest fights he ever had.
Back to the fight, Natto’s tail hit hard on Beryl’s face making him spit, knocking him off. The earthling sailed through the air for a while and then hit the ground like a rock! As he landed on the floor, he skidded across it before he could manage to stand up again, showing that he still had some fight in him, making a small smirk appear on Natto’s face. His anger now was giving place to that special kind of excitement that all saiyans feel when they are in some really interesting fight. ”Can you believe this guy?! Hahaha! He has got some endurance!” he thought to himself, feeling all fired up.
The earthling also smiled, he was a warrior on his own way, which only made things even more interesting. He commented that it was an excellent move, and he would’ve never expected it. – Unfortunately it is a onetime ace… Can’t imagine you being caught off guard with that anymore, but hey! It is a nice tattoo you’ve got over there, isn’t it? Hahaha! – he said jokingly. He wasn’t underestimating Beryl with that comment, but showing that he was actually enjoying the fight and respecting the earthling as a worthy opponent to face him, a saiyan elite warrior.
As he said that Natto was indeed a worthy member of the saiyan army, his smik widened and he even chuckled a little. – You are not half-bad yourself. – he said, as he started charging an energy attack on his right hand. At the same time, Beryl extended his arm, in a motion that resembled a ki attack, but with his hand shaped as a gun. Natto’s right hand, in turn, was cover by a flame-like blue energy aura. For someone with experience, it seemed like an energy enhanced melee attack. The saiyan bended his knees even more, to have a better impulse as he stared to the earthling.
However, Beryl didn’t announce any attack and just fired an orange-colored fragmented blast energy, like a shell of a shotgun, but without spreading that much. It was a dangerous attack, and Natto lost a little timing because he didn’t announce it. ”This guy is full of surprises!! But I have mine too!” he gritted his teeth as he dashed forward in what seemed like a crazy move, as he went straight to intercept the blast. – AAAAHHHH!!! – he shouted, as he threw his energy punch toward the earthlings attack.
As it was a spread shot, he couldn’t manage to dissipate all of them with his energy punch, but it was enough to reduce quite a lot of the damage he would receive. Still, his left shoulder pad broke into pieces, leaving his shoulder bleeding. His left leg also got hit, partially destroying both tight guard and ripping his jumpsuit, leaving it bleeding too. This attack would cost him greatly as he would have his mobility a little impaired, but he managed to avoid most of the damage to his vital spots.
Anybody would suppose that after that attack, Natto’s energy punch would be over, as this is how most attacks of this nature work. Following the first shot, seeing that he managed to hit and cause damage, Beryl fired again, but this time Natto was ready to get the correct timing of the shot. As soon as he fired, the young saiyan’s arm stretched forward, still shining with the blue energy. His right palm opened at once, firing a big blue energy wave toward Baryl, with the goal of engulfing and nulling his blast, and hitting him after that.
– Eat my strongest attack! TYRANT LANCER!!! – he shouted as he fired his most powerful attack with all he’s got.
Immediately after that, he would land again, reassuming his fighting stance and wait to see what happened. He couldn’t avoid making a grimace, as he felt the throbbing pain on both his left shoulder and thigh. ”Come on! Show me what you’ve got, earthling!” he thought with anxiety. It worked in Natto's favor that he was an adaptive fighter; otherwise, he would be having a much, much harder time dealing with Beryl. In a way, Beryl wasn't a conventional fighter; he didn't just throw his strongest techniques out at once or try and overwhelm his opponent with brute force, strength or speed, or a combination of all three. Instead, he was a tactical fighter, one who had a malleable fighting style that could easily change on a dime. While he did favor melee combat, as seen so far by Natto, Beryl could fight at range if he needed to. He wouldn't be at his most deadly, but he wasn't any sort of push-over either. Saiyans generally were tough to fight as a whole, but there were many who never broke past the initial threshold, the one that separated them from achieving a full understanding of combat. Perhaps Natto would be an exception. The tail-slap was a wake-up call. Beryl had read about Saiyans and their tails. Every Saiyan was born with one, even if they were only half-Saiyan, and it ultimately allowed them to transform into Great Apes, giant, bloodthirsty monsters that were easily capable of ravaging an entire planet by themselves. Of course, in order to transform, the Saiyan in question had to be exposed to Blutz Waves, a special type of radiation released from moons or other related satellites. Luckily for Beryl, he wouldn't have to worry about Natto turning into a massive, angry monkey on him; however, the ki researcher was still prepared for the possibility of it happening. Who knew what kind of messed-up situations Beryl would find himself in?! Hopefully, none of them involved Great Apes; Beryl had enough difficulty dealing with Saiyans as is. "Well, what you did was clever nonetheless. I suppose this rules out your tail as a weakness ... possibly." Beryl didn't know for sure if Natto was tough enough to not be affected by having his tail grabbed; it was a strategy that he tempted to try, but he needed to execute it at the right moment if he wanted it to be successful. Otherwise, Beryl would get a 'matching' tattoo on his other cheek as well. Unlike many other fighters, Beryl did not announce his ki-based attacks. Now, while the idea sounded silly, saying the technique's name actually helped with maintaining concentration. Also, it allowed the user to fuel their attack with their emotions and willpower, causing the final result to be much stronger than usual. However, Beryl didn't go through all of that; instead, he just used the technique as quickly as possible in order to not give his opponent an ample amount of time to react to it. Natto didn't have all the time in the world to defend against Beryl's launched ki attack; however, the Saiyan managed to negate the attack completely with a ki-based technique of his own. It chewed through the Alloy Cannon, disintegrating the pellets of superheated ki into puffs of harmless smoke. The Tyrant Lancer was Natto's most powerful technique, and it was heading straight towards Beryl! Frowning, the dark-skinned human needed to do something and fast. His arms crossed in front of his body in an "X" formation; his knees bent, and the ki researcher assumed a defensive stance. For a split second, his power level spiked, his body transforming in the most subtle way possible. From the outside, Beryl didn't change at all, but his power made a significant jump. The blast hit him head-on, causing the entire training room to quake underneath the sheer force of the impact. Smoke billowed outward from the blast point, temporarily masking Beryl from view. For a few moments, Natto would be surrounded by absolute silence. The smoke finally cleared and there stood Beryl, still in the same defensive position from before. Rips and tears decorated his clothing. He lowered his guard and stared at Natto. "That was too close," he commented, sighing in relief. He didn't look to be hurt at all from the Tyrant Lancer, no more than he already was. Dark-brown eyes hovered over the Saiyan's bloody injuries; it seemed that Natto was dealing with his own pain as well, but being a Saiyan, it surely wasn't enough to stop him or make him give up. "Tyrant Lancer, huh? That was powerful, very powerful; if I hadn't reacted, that probably would've put me in the hospital." With a soft grin, Beryl took a small step forward, examining his partially destroyed clothing. It wasn't too much of a hassle; he had plenty of clothes back on his spaceship. "If you keep practicing that attack, you'll be able to blow just about anyone to smithereens. It's a scary technique; just be sure not to blow yourself up in the process." With that final comment, Beryl thrust both of his arms forward. His breathing skipped a bit, pain and fatigue taking a toll on his body and concentration. Nonetheless, he quickly refocused and held his hands out so that both palms were facing Natto. His fingers touched together to form a diamond shape. After a brief second of intense focus, a white-clear blast of concussive force erupted from the human's palms, threatening to batter Natto with a harsh amount of force. Regardless of whether or not the Capsule Breaker managed to hit, Beryl immediately followed behind the attack. He would approach Natto from the side in an attempt to catch the Saiyan soldier off guard. Once Beryl got into range, he would once again send a barrage of punches towards his sparring partner, the strikes ranging from jabs to straights to hooks to elbows. There was no particular pattern, other than Beryl was aiming for anywhere above the waist. Again, he was trying to force Natto to trade blows with him, something that Beryl excelled in. He was certain that Natto had that figured out by now; it was probably the reason why the Saiyan was relying on energy attacks to whittle Beryl down, so that he wouldn't be so much of a threat within close-range. It was safe to say that the strategy was working. [ Capsule Breaker ] N1 [PL:3,756] Beryl places his palms forward, with the thumbs and index fingers touching each other to form a diamond shape. Then, a diamond-shaped blast of white-clear force shoots from his palms with the ability to deal concussive damage to whatever it connects with.

The young saiyan’s attack was effective, as he pierced right through Beryl’s shot gun-like attack, with his energy punch, firing the Tyrant Lancer straight to his target. The earthling couldn’t dodge that attack and his only option was to block it by crossing his arms in front of his body; ”I did it! It’s the end!” he thought to himself, smiling with the corner of his mouth as he stared at the epicenter of the explosion. Smoke quickly took over the training hub and he waited, feeling pretty confident. On Natto’s own mind, Beryl wasn’t dead, just utterly defeated by his technique, which made him feel completely surprised when the smoke cleared, revealing that the human was there, practically unharmed, despite a few bruises on his arms, making Natto’s jaw to drop and his eyes to widen in disbelief. ”I can’t freaking believe it!” he thought, as he blinked his eyes as to see if that scene was real.
”Reacted?! How the heck did this guy react?! What the hell is going on?! What sort of monsters are those earthlings?!” he gulped, as Beryl analyzed his attack, making him feel a little bit scared for the first time in a very long time. ”I-it doesn’t make any sense…” he shook his head, frowning his eyebrows as he didn’t want to show to his enemy that he was feeling cornered. Natto’s fear quickly gave space to his anger, and he gritted his teeth as he glared towards Beryl.
– That’s not possible! How could you resist my attack?! It’s impossible! My power level is higher than yours! How can you react so freaking fast?! It makes no sense!!! – he was getting furious with all that. It was the very first time Natto fought against someone wearing heavy weights, and he didn’t know much about ki suppressing and variable power levels, despite those of transformations. However, he wouldn’t have much time to think things through, as Beryl restarted the fight. The human thrust both his arms forward, launching a white-clear blast with the shape of a diamond. The saiyan growled as he bent his knees, using all of his speed to dodge the attack by jumping high into the air. As he dodged it, Natto quickly charged a blue-colored energy sphere on his right hand, to fire back at Beryl, but the damn earthling vanished. – Where is him?! – immediately after he asked, his scouter beeped, showing the position of his opponent, that appeared by his side. ”What the heck?!” he exclaimed, as he tried to turn his body around, but it was too late. Natto was hit by a sequence of jabs and elbows to the face, coming from all directions. Natto tried to block with his left hand, but then the human started punishing his stomach, avoid his block. After a few seconds of punishment, he managed to block an attack and somersault backwards in the air, to put some distance in between them.
As he distanced himself, Natto fired four ki blasts, to keep Beryl from getting into close quarter at the following instant. ”Goddammit!” Natto’s body was into a lot of pain, and it was starting to lose speed and strength. His stamina was also beind depleted, as he was slightly panting. ”What should I do?!” he didn’t know what else he could do, so he decided not to think and let his rage take control, like any regular saiyan. Even though Natto was usually more resourceful, he was being pushed a way too much and he was a saiyan nevertheless.
With that in mind, he immediately brought his arms to the side of his body, charging ki on his hands, and then started throwing one hand after the other, firing a rapidly barrage of ki blasts towards Beryl. He didn’t care much for saving energy, as it was a desperate move. – Disappear!!! Continuous Energy Bullets!!! – he screamed as he fired his attack. He was blinded by rage and completely opened. Word Count: 667 Tech used: [PL of 5.605] Continuous Energy Bullet [N1]: The user usually brings their arms to their sides, charges up ki, and then he throws his hands forward one after another as he rapidly fires many energy blasts. It is effective for quick, widespread, and massive amounts of damage, but it is very draining on one's own ki level. However, if the user is powerful enough, he will be able to avoid the ki drainage effects of this combination technique.
