It was the depths of the night, and the palace was asleep. Not a soul stirred in the hallowed halls of the Saiyan Solar Empire’s most important building. Yet, just as it had been countless centuries ago, it was never that difficult to find a way to sneak past the saiyans and tiptoe one’s way through the palace.
Zuni had to admit that the place was a lot calmer than it had been when Vennel had smashed the previous inhabitants to a pulp. Admittedly, the occurrence of the Full Moon had kept her away from the face of the planet for another week – she was taking a big enough risk coming here at all, she shuddered to think of what might happen if it all went terribly wrong. It would have been even worse if she had to worry about every saiyan in the city below going Oozaru and coming after her as well…
Even the light of the Makyo star didn’t seem very comforting. She could feel it, lingering in the sky above like a baleful eye, waiting and watching to grant her strength… but she was under no illusions; if her prank went wrong here, she would be facing the wrath of the Super Saiyan. Those horrible, pale green eyes wouldn’t allow her a second chance, no matter how much stolen strength she brought to bear. She’d just have to hope that she could pull this off without waking the Queen of Vegeta.
It was a terrible risk she was taking, but under the circumstances? She’d spent too long being afraid of the saiyans; it was time they learned to be afraid of her again. If it didn’t work out, she’d die… but if she continued to cower in her palace and shrink from her calling in life, she may as well be dead, right? Better to throw the dice and see where they landed rather than living in fear of what might be.
The face Zuni wore was a new one, made just for this occasion. A pretty woman with bright white hair and delicately furry ears beneath the long, sweeping locks. Blood red eyes and a fuzzy white tail completed the look, and she wore old-style Saiyan Elite battle armour. It was enough, she had found in her time, to discourage those curious servants who saw her from asking too many questions. It also had enough pockets within the inside of it that she could carry what she needed to carry for this particular prank to work; it was an important addition she’d made.
She still kept her powerlevel suppressed to almost nothing; there was no point in making it any easier than it had to be to find her, and hundreds of years of stealthily sneaking had taught her enough tricks that she’d made it to the very threshold of the Queen’s bedchambers without being contested.
There weren’t even any guards. Classic saiyan arrogance; it made her job so much sweeter, and so, so much easier than it would have been otherwise.
Zuni’s feet didn’t make a sound as she danced her way across the corridor. She couldn’t help herself! It was… delightful, really. The demon wiggled her hips and let her tail sway from side to side. Just getting this far, her fear was starting to turn to elation. This was a triumph! She’d penetrated right to the heart of the saiyan ruling classes, and now… now she just had to pull off the trick. It wouldn’t be easy, but if she managed it – her name would become legendary once more, the heavens would tremble to know that she – Zuni Vukong, The Lady of a Thousand Tails – was once more walking across the face of Vegeta.
Still outside Zuccetta’s bedroom door, the monkey demon had to suppress a giggling chuckle – even more difficult than suppressing her power, that – and then… then she sloooowly pushed against the surface of it. The door gave in, and gently opened the tiny crack that she needed.
Beyond, there was darkness – that much, Zuni could see. She could only hope that the Queen of the Saiyans was no more alert in sleep than most of her kin were… as, with a curious mixture of trepidation and growing excitement, The Moon Key began to slip her way into the Queen’s bedchamber, silently cursing her decision to go as a soldier… saiyan soldier disguises always had such unwieldy and muscular limbs. It was a wonder they could even bend their arms enough to stuff their ugly faces!

TWENTY-FOUR HOURS EARLIER
Zucceta was brushing her teeth, the very end of her evening routine before the Queen would drift into a brief, shallow sleep, the minty foam spilling from her mouth, as her scouter crackles to life.
"Your highness, a large group of workers on New Setos have begun to revolt!"
The brush pauses between her lips.
"Can't schumone elsh handle thish?" She speaks, through a mouth full of paste. She had been so hoping for an early night.
"M'lady, they've captured or killed all of the overseers in the outpost on the planet!"
Setosans, she groans. The kiwi-people were going to pay. She spits the paste into her basin, before running her tongue along her teeth, pausing at each canine, probing their sharp tips, testing their edge.
"Get me an emergency pod to planet Setos, then. I'll deal with these rebels myself."
FOURTEEN HOURS EARLIER
Zucceta hovered in the air outside the imperial outpost on Setos. The complex, equivalent a small town, was host to the majority of the saiyans on the planet. Many of the kiwi-people were recruited to the saiyan auxiliary units, but those who weren't strong enough for this privilege were set to work mining the planet for resources, and not many appreciated this life of labour for their tailed masters.
Zucceta sighs, yawning. She was, as usual, incapable of getting any proper rest on these short visits to planets within the empire. She'd have to finish this rebellion quickly, so that she could eventually get some decent rest.
Her Razor shivers to life at her side.
The Solar Empire doesn't negotiate with terrorists.
ONE HOUR EARLIER The exhausted queen slinks into her room, rapidly blinking her eyes to keep herself awake. She was too exhausted to even wash the blood from her wrists, only barely managing to slip out of her armour and Furiosa, and crawl on top of her bed. Within seconds, she is out like a light, her bellowing snores getting dangerously close to being loud enough to echo down the hallways.
And when, an hour later, the mischievous monkey-demon snuck into her room, the normally light-sleeping saiyan queen did not stir. She hadn't thought to post guards at her door tonight; she was usually awake at the slightest suspicion of anything wrong, a mixture of shallow sleep and her new-found ki sense abilities. There was not even a crinkle of a vaguely aware frown upon her forehead, this night.
But Zuni would still have to be cautious, for Zucceta was not one to trifle with on the best of days, and particularly not when so deprived of sleep. No, things might end poorly for Zuni, depending on the intensity of her prank, and Zucceta's waking mood regardless of that intensity.

As the demon worked her way across the room, she was curious to see her slumbering prey. In sleep, Zucceta looked far less menacing than she did in wakefulness - although, lets be honest, that was still a good deal more menacing than most people one might come across in their day to day lives.
Zuni tip-toed her way across the room, practically dancing as decades of experience pulling pranks and sneaking up on the unwary told her where she needed to place her feet to avoid creaking floorboards and unfortunate obstacles. When she finally made it to the bed next to the slumbering saiyan, a truly malevolent grin spread across her disguised features... and then faltered. Wait a second, where was Zucceta's arm?!
But when the monkey demon spotted Furiosa actually taken OFF, well, that makes her job much easier, and with the greatest of care she picked her way across the floor once again to stand before the ugly, impromptu prosthetic.
It was with the greatest care that Zuni withdrew two items from the inside of her armour. The first, was a pot of bright pink nail polish; the second a jar of incredibly potent glue. With skill and artistry born from near-obsessive levels of practice, The Moon Key began to set to work.
The artificial arm's fingertips (well, the end of the hideous thing at any rate, as close as she can get) are painted that bright and shocking neon pink, and the glue used to scrawl swirling hearts, stars and crescent moons around two words laid vertically down the forearm - such that a viewer would see them clearly:
R Q E U S E P E E N C I T E
With a smiling face (monkey ears including, naturally), sticking out its tongue, cross-eyed and silly at the bottom. It will take her a few minutes, no matter how long she has practised doing this in the safety and security of her Moon Palace, to make sure that the design is properly displayed.
And only when the nail polish is drying and the glue is all ready does she get out the finishing touch: a rather large pouch of sparkling gold glitter. Zuni can barely contain herself; this had gone far better than she could have anticipated. If she'd had to work on the limb when it was attached to the wearer, it would have been a far more difficult challenge! Now, though, she just had to apply the glitter, and then get out... in the morning, she might even be able to see the results of her handiwork from the surface of the moon!

As the monkey demon makes her way inside her room, the saiyan queen's dream, a half-remembered adventure from years past, subtly changes with the Moon Key's presence.
A fire crackled as the sun slowly rose over the charred hillside of Landfall-Omega, the planet Apocalypse Incorporated had been picked to subdue. The auxiliary inspectors would be arriving tomorrow to assess the planet's value, as a potential outpost or as a trading piece for the rich nobles who often purchased these kinds of worlds for their own amusement, to play as kings and emperors, though still flying beneath a Solar Empire banner.
The four members of the high-class squadron sat around the fire, dirty and relaxed. The two twins, Cuke and Umber, Pestilence and Famine, wrestled in the mud; one bit the other. Zucceta, then Lady War, hadn't long been in the squadron, and she still found it difficult to differentiate the two; and yet she chuckled at their immaturity.
An arm wraps around her shoulder. She glances over at the leader of the squad, Cherimoya; the first Death. She smirks. "You wanna go some place quieter?"
He shrugs, while watching the two brothers fight. "You know, those guys... remind me of that old legend."
Zucceta's eyebrow arches up. She wasn't too familiar with many saiyan tales, beyond the obvious glory of the battle-born super saiyan; what a dumb idea. Still, she would humour her lover. "What legend, Cheri?"
"The trickster demon."
Zucceta would laugh, her laughs echoing further than they should do in this dream-state. "Doesn't sound like a very... saiyan, devil."
The older saiyan settles his gaze on hers. "A trickster who manipulates and deceives, without pride nor fighting skill, and manages to best the truest saiyan warriors. Sounds like a demon to me."
Zucc frowns. "I suppose you're right, Lord Death."
Cherimoya continues. "The beast would steal food from wary warriors, both supplies on battlefields and on the spoils of hunts, and when the hungry saiyans would turn to berries for sustenance, the fruit would wither in their mouths, a dark trick of this malignant spirit."
"Eventually, the old kings grew tired of this blight upon our people. Uniting together, our saiyan ancestors, it was said, pushed this demon away from our world; she escaped to live on our moon."
Zucceta yawns, glancing at the two cheeky saiyans rolling in the mud and laughing. "Don't think it'd take a whole tribe to defeat these lummoxes."
Apoc Inc's leader chuckles, before pressing his lips against Zucceta's. They press together for an eternity too short, before the embrace breaks. Zucceta giggles, a child-like laugh for a warrior so vicious, before resting her head on Cherimoya's chest.
"And so the trickster was banished for the moon, for a time, but many years later she was said to re-appear, days after the Tuffle war decisively ended."
Zucceta chuckles. She wished she could have fought in that war, two millenia ago.
"The monkey demon took to terrorising the royal palace, making a mockery of the royals, and saiyan traditions on the whole. This went on for years, the demon evading capture, until one night, in over-confidence, she attempted to demean the king one final time, by taking his tail from his very body."
"She was surprised to find the king capable of transforming into the Oozaru without a full moon, via a long forgotten technique." A technique that, many years after this delusional encounter was supposed to take place, Zucceta would learn.
"She was bested, but to this day, kids are told not to misbehave, or they'll end up locked on the moon, just like the demon, Vukong."
Zucceta smiles. "That's sily." She turns back to the two twins.
They both lay face-up, guts ripped out, ravens pecking away at their innards. Dead.
"What the fuck happened to them!?" Zucceta cries, twisting to face her lover.
Blood rolled from his eye-less sockets. "You let us DIE."
The saiyan queen starts awake, gasping, and is immediately aware of the presence looming over her desk. Even in the seconds of the nightmare still lurking in her short-term memory, she raises her remaining hand, red energy beginning to pulse in her fingers, crimson bio-electricity sparking between the gaps in her digits, her tired eyes narrowing at the intruder. "Who the hell are you?!" she roars, her voice booming down the corridor.

Zuni can't sense energy - that's one trick that the Monkey Devil never managed to wrap her head around, perhaps because of her excessive laziness, although that was a quality she was working hard to overcome these days. As Zucceta stirs behind her, the figure - hunched in darkness - seems to shake as she suppresses her snickering as much as she can, golden glitter staining the chunky, ugly metal limb beneath her.
It really is the perfect prank, in Zuni's mind. Nobody gets hurt, nobody loses anything important, but the Queen will see that just because she's incredibly powerful, there's still people out there willing and able to deflate her pride. It actually looked rather pretty, too; hot pink and an increasing amount of bright gold was clearly a definite improvement over ugly, functional bare metal. Really, she's doing Zucceta a favour, here.
Then red light starts to sparkle on the gold, and Zuni's brows knot together, her lips pursing. That's odd - where was that coming--
Zucceta's roar practically makes Zuni jump out of her skin, and the woman's head turns, looking over her shoulder to see the enraged face of the Saiyan Queen behind her. Less experienced pranksters might have broken then and there and powered up to run away; but that is a fatal mistake, Zuni well knows. If she's going to survive from this point on (and it would really spoil her evening if she was going to die here) she needs to keep Zucceta confused and shooting in the wrong direction. That means she needs to keep her power low and her opponent off balance.
A cheeky smile spreads across her features - really one born of desperation, because blood is rushing to her ears and the only words she can think of right now are 'super saiyan'. She's going to have to pray that this works.
"Would you believe me if I said room service?"
And with that said, the demon PITCHES the pot of glitter overarm right at Zucceta, and dives across the room. The hope is that the glitter will hit Zucceta square between the eyes, and the sudden burst of bright gold will help cover her as she exits through the window - quite literally through it, in a shower of broken glass and frame.
If she can just manage to hurl herself out of the window, step two is to allow gravity to do its work, and keep her power dropped as low as she can. In the darkness, she's praying that Zucceta's fury and experience fighting potent warriors will tell her that Zuni must surely be flying, rather than plummeting towards the ground at hundreds of miles per hour.
Some might say that diving headlong towards the surface of the planet with no power to arrest the impact would be a less favourable situation than staying and taking her chances with the fight; those people had clearly never seen a Super Saiyan in the flesh, and Zuni was in no hurry to repeat that experience - especially as there's a fair chance that in the next few seconds, Zucceta is going to see what she's done to her detachable arm, and then things will go from merely 'bad' to 'apocalyptically terrible' for her.

The saiyan queen stares at the monkey demon, her mouth a humourless line. She stares at her Furiosa armpiece... now, more like, a Fabulosa. A growl resonates from deep in her throat. That... is disgusting.
It wasn't the coloration that really bothered Zucceta; she had toyed with the idea of having them painted to match her armour colours. What bothered Lady Death was there was a woman tampering with her prosthetic in her room while she was asleep.
Zuni quips, and the queen barely has time to frown before the demon laces the glass of glitter directly at the queen. She has split second to react, or else the bottle will strike her in the forehead; she doubts it'd do much more than sting, but in her sleep-deprived state she could do without the headache. She releases a shout, her white aura bursting around her; a shockwave of basic kiai sends the glass and glitter away from her body, shattering and spilling out the remaining golden particles all across the floor.
At the same time, the windowpane shatters; Zucceta quickly turns her attention to the shadow plunging into the Vegetan sky. She growls and rises from her bed, almost naked but for the under-suit, still splashed with Setosan blood; she had a quick choice to make, to pursue or not to pursue the irritant who had disturbed her sleep and... sabotaged her warrior prosthetic.
For her duty as a respected queen, and for her own pride, she had to pursue. It didn't matter that she was already a legendary super saiyan in her people's eyes, nor did that thought even crop up in her mind; she could not allow this bitch to make a fool out of her in front of her subjects.
She makes the choice between another Furiosa, and her scouter; she chooses the latter. While she had recently been focusing on truly mastering her ki sense, trying to find this woman on her hour of sleep with the skill would be mostly futile, especially if she was suppressed her power; the scouter also 'illuminated' the area with its red-tinted vision, somewhat, while her natural eyesight had yet to adapt to the dark. She slides it over her eye in a second, and then bursts into the night sky from the exit Vukong had made.
Indeed, her first response is to scan the sky-line; but with the aid of her device, this takes under a second. No targets.
Well, then, if she wasn't in the air then she must be on the ground. Her steely gaze slowly sinks to the ground; and there she was.
Her top lip curls above her left canine in a sneer; she raises her right hand, and releases a duo of screaming, crimson ki blasts from palm, streaking through the sky towards the trickster demon.

As she descended towards the ground at a truly terrifying speed, Zuni had plenty of time to muse over the decision she'd made to do this. Cacumber was really quite an ugly city, seen in this light. Plummeting towards the asphalt didn't do much to help raise her estimation of the squat, functional saiyan architecture; the lack of imagination that was, everywhere, reproduced by the desire to be seen as more serious, more dedicated to the warrior culture, than the next. Say what you liked about the nobility, at least they tended towards ostentatious displays of wealth; most of the city she saw rushing up to greet her just looked dull!
At the last moment, Zuni's tail whipped out, and she snared a lamp post. Without much to arrest her fall, the shocking jolt through her rear end is painful enough, but she does at least manage to stop herself splatting against the earth. The moment of agony is worth it for that, even if she is walking a little funny as she slowly lets herself down to the ground, and dusts herself down. Phew. That had been an unpleasant surprise; but at least it sounded as though the Queen's fury had mostly been left...
... wait a second, why is it getting so much lighter? Dawn shouldn't be for a few hours yet!
Turning around, Zuni's head whipped upwards and she saw the two bolts coming straight in for her. It is, perhaps, unfortunate for her that she hates relying on the Makyo Star quite so much. Whilst its power could be useful for dealing with fools, the last thing she wanted to do was engage in a dragged-out, knock-down fight with the Queen of Vegeta. Such things rarely went well for her... but she needed to do SOMETHING, or she'd explode and die.
It was, really, quite the dilemma.
The only advantage she has is that the power is unfocused. With that in mind, rather than stay a stationary target, Zuni did the only thing she could think to do - she leapt into the air with a shout of "UP UP!" and, in that instant, collided with one of the bright red orbs.
The ground where she had stood explodes from the other, and the second explosion sends out a loud, large wave of energy. Oddly, though, given that Zucceta is wearing a scouter, Zuni's suppressed power doesn't decrease; it increases. She didn't have much choice! She didn't know if she'd survive even that, and when the dust and debris settles, it is clear that the demonic figure hasn't come through unscathed.
She cuts a regal figure of her own - surprisingly so, given her legend. Of an indeterminate (apparent) age, with dark blue skin and twin curling black horns, Zuni has been forced to cast aside her disguise and now sits atop a tiny yellow cloud in her finery and regalia. Dark red silk has been badly burned by the Queen's energy blast, and there are further patches of scorched and blackened flesh - she's hurt, but she's still... grinning. She can't really help that. Somehow, in these moments, she always feels at her most alive!
"So that's a no on the room service, then." She says, with a light cough and some strain in her voice as her cloud floats her up to eye level with Zucceta. Her hand trembles a little as she reaches up to her ear, and then... a long, dark brown staff springs to life in her hand. Her tail, frazzled black and ashen, twitches around behind her - fur flaking away to reveal strange and sinuous scales.
"Now hold up. I don't want to fight you - I think we both know I'd lose - but if you kill me before you even know who I am, that's pretty dumb, don't you think? Really. I thought I was dealing with the only smart ruler this place has seen in a thousand years, but there you go, blasting away without a single answer..."
As she's speaking, Zuni's staff twirls to her side, and the wind picks up along with it. She's making it look casual, but the scouter will betray the fact that she's gathering strength - she has to! If she took another hit like that head on, she'd be in even more pain than she was already.

Zucceta watches as the queen jumps into the air, colliding with her ki blast. Well, that was foolish of her... the queen thinks to herself, running her hand through her hair. Normally, she would have posed by crossing her arms and smirking, but, of course, she was back down to the one for this encounter. The smoke fills the street, and Zucceta is momentarily sure he blasts dealt with the trickster.
Her scouter blips, knocking away this suspicion, almost instantly rising to almost seventy-five thousand units, or just below half of Zucceta's base power level. The dust twists away with the rising power of her 'foe', the only woman fool enough on the planet to Vegeta to try to play a prank on a sleep-deprived queen whose code-name was Death.
The queen absorbs the being's new form; it was one that seemed almost familiar, but she pushes it away, instead listening to the monkey demon. She recognises what the being was riding, also; yes, it was all coming back. This person had watched her fight with Vennel, and fled, screaming, on Zucceta's transformation to the super saiyan form. It had to be the same person; cloud-riding wasn't a ubiquitous ability, especially on this planet, and this must be her true face.
"What's really dumb is sneaking into my room and sabotaging my equipment, the one you fled from only weeks ago, cloud-rider." Her scouter blips, and yes, Zucceta sensed it a second later; the being was charging a technique. "If you wish to talk, to try to explain yourself, do so; but I'd suggest reconsidering your next move, or else this super saiyan will put you into a world of hurt, shape-shifter."

"Sabotage? Sabotage?!"
Zuni repeats the word, looking genuinely hurt at the accusation. Her eyes are wide and her hand slaps to her chest. "Please! If I wanted to sabotage your arm, it wouldn't have been difficult. Things like that, in my experience, just need you to rip out a few screws or wires and then they'll go horribly wrong at the worst time. I IMPROVED your arm! I ENHANCED it!"
With a flourish of her staff, the gathered energy... dissipates. The wind dies down again, and she stabs the tip of the staff into the cloud behind her as her hands go to her hips. There's always a certain thrill when she's given the chance to talk her way out of trouble; it is a lot more fun than having to find out how well she can do in a battle. She's got far more faith in her tongue than her magic; particularly when dealing with a Super Saiyan. Sure, she's been practising lately, but the whole point of this exercise was to prove that she could make a monkey out of Zucceta without needing to trade blows. What she says is not the whole truth, of course, but the best deception has its roots in truth... it just wouldn't be likely to get her out of a terrible beating if she admitted she mostly did it because it struck her as amusing, and would solidify her legend for generations to come. Besides, Zucceta was proving more intelligent than the average saiyan - it was hard to make a monkey of her.
So far, she'd rate her at half a monkey - maybe a little less. Monkey-lite.
"I've always loved saiyans." She continues, with a sigh, her hands still on her hips. "Really. Your violence, your strength... you'd think after all this time, I'd have grown bored of it, but you always find ways to make it interesting. Yet there's things I hate, too, and here you are, a rising power in the galaxy... and your predecessors choose to export the annoying qualities rather than the good ones? Hmph."
Zuni turns on the tip of her boot, then, so that she is facing away from Zucceta and looking up at the moon. "But you've shown promise, compared to the others. I hoped you might understand." The monkey demon's tail twitches behind her rear, "This will be the Age of the Super Saiyan. I had to gamble that I could... help you realize some truths before your species makes even more mistakes. Is it dumb to risk my skin on that? Perhaps. But what is life without gambles? Death is not so terrible a thing anyway."
She looks over her shoulder as she comes to the end of her impromptu speech, grinning toothily to the one-armed Saiyan Queen.
"You should know that better than anyone, hm, my Lady?~"

"It was a crime of fashion," the queen dryly states, a smile playing just below her voice. In spite of herself, she was beginning to like the mischievous individual.
She feels the gathering energy disappearing, her hair ceasing to sway in the wind generating from the demon's staff. The queen prepared to listen to the individual, and see what she had to say about herself, and her... quest.
Zuni begins her speech about loving saiyans even after all this time, and Zucceta can't help but wonder about her age. True, she was of no species the queen could recognise, even among shape-shifters; although it was only a presumption that this was, indeed, her true shape. But she almost spoke as if she had been around before the saiyans had become an empire of this size. The queen raises a quizzical eyebrow, before scratching her cheek.
The Age of Super Saiyans. Zucceta mouths the line after Zuni states it. It had value for the propaganda machine. She could see it now, a poster of herself, Vennel and Kaula, with the full moon shining behind her. She can't help but smirk a little, as the monkey demon continues her speech.
"And what truths would these be? That a quickening to violence is not always the answer?" The queen purrs, a deadliness hidden just beneath the surface, like a shark beneath a glistening wave. "Death can be an escape, and death can be honorable, but death can also be a waste. There is more than one meaning to my codename."
She presses her lips together, before continuing. "The saiyans aren't the only reason why this planet is scarred. The lasting damage to the eco-system, even millennia later, is a gift from the Tsufuru-jin."
She tilts her head to observe the individual further, wondering if her words would hold meaning, or even be empathised with if not agreed with. "One of the reasons our conquest is necessary is so the saiyan race can even sustain itself upon this world. The races of the universe are naturally selfish; we're no exception, but with the power to take what we need, we can survive."
"Does this acknowledge one of your truths?" the sleep-deprived queen hisses.

Quietly, Zuni is impressed. Zucceta's words show a level of insight that has been - in her experience - uncommon in the saiyan species. Most were little more than brutes; even the strong ones didn't seem to have much of an aim for power beyond 'get more power', and it was refreshing to hear a saiyan speak about death in such an interesting way. The impression she had gotten before Lady Death had become The Super Saiyan in her mind (an impression that would never entirely leave her; Vennel's loss of the transformation having undercut the drama of it somewhat in the aftermath) is proven, once more, to be quite... disturbingly accurate.
Really, this is close to what she always claimed she wanted - closer than any other saiyan ruler had managed to reach, that's for sure. So why does the fact of an actually smart saiyan ruler fill her with as much dread as it does admiration? Strength was one thing, smarts was another... but a combination of the two - even if Zucceta was less smart than her (and there's precious little evidence of that, not that Zuni would ever admit it) ... that is a combination that could be very dangerous indeed.
"Violence is fun!" Zuni says, with a laugh, cocking her hips to the side with her hands upon them. "Violence is always AN answer! Killing? That's where you're right. You can't teach a corpse anything, you know? And please, lets not kid ourselves. The Tuffles - a far cuter name - were adorable, and they were desperate... and their damage would be infinitely more noticeable if it weren't for the full moons that have passed since now and then. Don't shrug it off! Own it!"
She says this with her back once again to Zucceta, "There were more lessons than that, though. In fact... that's not even the primary one. That one, is far more simple. And... you know what?" The Monkey Demon paused, nodding her head to herself as she looked up to the moon. "I think you'll get there. You've got a good head on your shoulders, underneath all that hair. I just hope I haven't ruined it... that would be ironic!"
What does she mean by that? Well...
"LUNAR REFLECTION!"
You see, with her back to Zucceta, and her hands on her hips, all Zuni had to do was bend over to project her rear in the Queen's direction, and the brilliant light of the moon is amplified a hundred - a thousand - times over! Shining out of her rear end, the dazzling white light is coupled by a sudden, intense BURST as Zuni calls upon the power of the Makyo Star for just a split second - not to fight the Queen, not to attack her at all!
If she didn't have to pause, it'd be a sure thing - but she does, because she is the Lady of a Thousand Tails, and she has a legend to maintain. She can't JUST run away, she has to pause to add.
"Tonight will always be remembered as the night that Queen Zucceta ALMOST caught... Zuni Vukong!"
And only after that does she then move to FLING herself across Cacumber's skyline, and suddenly DROP her power as swiftly as she can, forsaking it all and praying to any helpful kais who might be listening that this time - this time - the more intense effort to escape might bear some fruit, despite her inability to prevent herself bragging. And giving Zucceta clues to follow her up; because she liked this one, and wanted to see what she'd do with a name. Who knows? There might be SOMEONE on the planet other than recently pissed-off nobles who could give her a lead.
It isn't even anything personal! She genuinely did quite like Zucceta's attitude - and when the Queen realized that life was more fun when you weren't weighed down with pride and stuffiness, then she MIGHT be the woman to guide the saiyans to the future that Zuni had always dreamed of...
... but really, in Zuni's mind, there was no way Zucceta's pride could have allowed her to walk away. At best, she'd have wound up in the cells, at worst, before Yemma again - and Yemma, with his terrible suits and absolute LACK of a sense of humor? She'd rather take her chances in the slums of Cacumber... or wherever else her blind attempt at escape might wind up throwing her. Knowing her luck, it'd probably wind up being a cabbage truck or something.

Zucceta chuckles, but the smile doesn't quite reach her eyes. "You're right, violence is fun," Her voice was undeniably threatening, but it was not a deliberate affectation. It was more her natural state, a menacing mixture of strength and intelligence with a touch of sardonic wit. Zucceta could sense an intelligence to the being who had broken into her room, but it was almost as if she was going at a length to disguise it beneath a playful semblance. Lady Death wondered why, not knowing that Zuni's entire outlook was that life shouldn't be taken too seriously.
"If the lessons were true, the Tuffles kept us as slaves. Hardly adorable," the queen would retort. One of her failings was to feel such a hate towards a race long dead, sure, but it was deeply ingrained in her that, unless the saiyans were the bullies, they would be bullied and downtrodden. It was the nature of the universe. It was in the quantum code, as Empress Wyntre might claim, stemming from every physical law. There were two roles; predator and prey. Saiyans ought to be the apex.
Wait, what is she doin-
A blinding light bursts from the monkey demon's backside, taking the weary saiya-jin unawares. The white brightness flashes in Zucceta's eyes and she can't help but cry out in pain, her eyes snapping.
"Tonight will always be remembered as the night that Queen Zucceta ALMOST caught... Zuni Vukong!"
Zucceta blanches. Vukong? The name... had been in her nightmare, right? The ancient trickster demon? "Impossible!"
She raises her arm as she blinks; nothing but fuzzy colours. The queen roars, a blast lurching from her finger-tips, aimed at where Zuni had been just moments before; the compact ki would slam into a high-rise building, exploding (mostly) harmlessly, but for property damage and a broken arm.
It was too late; Zucceta could feel the power screeching away, before vanishing almost instantly.
It took her a minute of blinking and rubbing her eyes for her vision to mostly return, white spots dancing around her gaze. The technique had been a variant of her own Solar Flare, her technique aped from a description Akio Callahan had given her in his tale, when she had been paralysed over his shoulder. It was a useful technique to land a strong attack against a stronger opponent, Zucceta had found.
Apparently, escape was another use.
Her mind was racing. Was it possible, that Vukong was real? It seemed utterly bizarre, an impossibility, and yet legends seemed to become reality every day in this world, myths become manifest.
She balls her hand into a fist. Her stump itches with the same impulse.
Zucceta vowed to never underestimate the trickster again.
(Closing up. I'd like PL if you post it up. Great thread, congrats on surviving!)
