Sage had regained his body after a long month of waiting. Though he didn't mind being a soul, he was much more comfortable in his body. He walked down a stony path towards a fairly large arena. It looked aged and worn from the outside, yet you could tell it was still being taken care of. Sage approached one of the many entrances to the arena to find a small blue Oni blocking his path. The Oni smiled as he looked up at the semi-robotic man "Hello there Sage! You sure did take your sweet time getting here didn't you?" Sage was honestly surprised, it seemed like he must have been late. He wondered how long it had been since he signed up for this tournament. In his mind it was only about an hour, but it might have been longer judging by the Oni's words.
The Oni plucked a small piece of paper out of his pocket and quickly scribbled something on it. After he finished scribbling he placed the paper gently back into his pocket and walked through the hall behind him, beckoning the tall cyborg to follow.
They walked through the large hall for a few minutes, the metallic underside of Sage's robotic feet clanking against the old stone. The hall echoed each step loudly, accentuating the cyborgs footsteps further. Eventually, the sound of cheering could be heard, signifying they were nearing the tournament grounds. Sage and the Oni stepped out into a large grassy area, with a slightly elevated battle arena for the combatants to duke it out on. It seemed the relatively small tournament had already begun, as there were already two warriors on stage.
A lanky, pale-white human was doing battle with a fairly short fish-faced alien. The short warrior was using his lack of height to his advantage, keeping himself on the move to dodge the taller warriors advancing assault. The lanky warrior was slowly tiring himself out, sweat covering his whole body as he huffed and puffed. Each missed attack was angering the tall warrior more and more, making his next set of attacks less focused.
The Fish-Faced Warrior stuck his tongue out tauntingly as he continued evading the slowing flurry of attacks. The humans attacks had slowed from blurring jabs, to single straights or jabs. Every attempt to attack forced a huff or a puff out of him. After a few more attacks he finally stopped and began breathing heavily. The fish-warrior hopped upwards and poked his finger in the humans face. He tilted backward, and the fish-warrior turned his back to his opponent and bowed to the cheering crowd. The pale human at first looked like he was going to fall backwards, but his body weight shifted and he instead began falling forwards like a mighty tree that had been cut at the base.
The fish-warrior had dropped his guard, thinking the battle won. This last-ditch effort from the human had caught the alien off-guard. The humans body fell onto the fish-warrior, squishing him under the massive weight of his larger foe. He squirmed under the human, trying his best to pry himself out of this hold, but to no avail. After a few moments of struggling, the fish-warrior tapped out.
A bell rang, and an Orange Oni wearing a tuxedo spoke in an excited voice "AMAZING! In a stunning turn of events, Vic has won the battle!" The two warriors stood up, the fish-man seemingly lost a few inches from being squished, and the human known as Vic had a few spiky imprints on his stomach. They shook hands and smiled at each other and walked off the stage.
The announcer straightened his bow-tie as he spoke into the microphone "Next up is Sage, from the Northern Galaxy..." A small camera being held by a soul floated up to Sage, and the crowd cheered. "...Versus...Vic Torr, also from the Northern Galaxy!" The camera moved over to the previous rounds winner, who was apparently the only other combatant left in the running.
Sage raised an eyebrow in curiosity "But he just finished his fight, wouldn't it be unfair to fight him so quickly afterwards?" The small blue Oni who leaded Sage in chuckled before speaking "No of course not! In Heaven, nobody ever feels fatigue for very long! Your body is always at its peak condition, no matter how long you've been fighting." The Oni chuckled again as he sat down on a nearby bench.
The Cyborg nodded towards his Oni friend, and began walking towards the stage. His metal feet pressed the grass downward slightly as he advanced.
Sage walked up the steps leading towards the tiled arena. He was ready for a fight, and his opponent seemed to be quite capable...
