Name: Akio Callahan
Alias: Tsuyei Hiruen
Species: Half-Saiyan (Human-Saiyan-0.1% Noran)
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Appearance:
History: The Hiruen line merged with the Koregutsu family millenia ago, but their name did not fall into obscurity, for their was still a plague in the genes of this family. The so-called 'Hiruen Oozaru' now marks children of the Koregutsu royalty, and those who are found thus to have this recessive trait are named Hiruen and barred from the royal line, often being concealed in plain site as guards and noblemen to the royal family. It is a well-kept secret, that the Hiruen clan are truly royalty.
The story of this Hiruen begins on Earth.
When Zasho II was a mere toddler, perhaps around a year old, his father visited Earth in secrecy. He was looking to find the cure to the degenerative disease that would later kill him. And, while there, he found numerous ways to entertain himself.
Numerous ways.
Nine months later and a child named Akio Callahan was born, a hybrid of human and saiyan conception. He had dark brown hair, a rarity but not unheard of among saiyans, and a brown tail. And, despite all of this, the manner of his conception and his oddities, Kini Callahan loved him very much.
When he was two months old, the saiyan king visited his mother. Surprised that she had kept the pregnancy born of his darkness, he made a power reading of the child. His own son, after all, had been a disappointment - and this one could at least pass off as a true saiyan, if he showed promise.
The scouter read a surprising number - 287 battle strength. Workable. But, in one of the corners, an exclamation mark popped up... a custom modification made to royal scouters to show members of the saiya-jin species which of them had the blight, that accursed blight - the mark of the Hiruen clan.
"Blast these loins," the king had hissed, throwing the child back to his crying mother... and swiping off the brown tail in one flash of light. He then rose into the air, bellowing two final words: "Tsuyei Hiruen!"
A child of two worlds. A child of two names.
From the youngest age, Akio had to take care of his mother. Her spirit was broken, and despite her love for the boy she slipped in and out of reality day to day. And so Akio had to learn how to hunt and gather, to cook and to clean. And, he did not resent her for it - it was all he knew. Still, without treatment, her condition steadily declined.
At the age of nine, Akio was alone in the world. Kini's last words had been that "you have great strength in you, Akio. Child of two worlds, a Callahan, a Hiruen, a bastard of dark royalty... my son, you will be great. Make me proud, Tsuyei."
And she slipped into the endless dream, deep black water, finally free from her long pain.
For the first time in his life without a purpose, Akio began to walk. His travels took him far and wide. He took a liking to martial arts, learning in various styles, for a time a guest in the Orin Temple where monks taught him the bare-bones of chi usage. Still, they were far too weak to truly satisfy Akio's urge to gain strength and technique and so he moved on, at the age of eleven.
His travels took him to a desert. There-in he found a struggling old hermit, a bandana wrapped around his head. The child of Kini decided that he should save this old man, wrapping his arms around him and carrying him back to his small home.
There, the old man revealed his trick - he was the Crane Sensei, an old martial artist whom had no students to pass on his teachings to. He had tested Akio, to see whether he was worthy of heart and body. Akio had passed. But the child was suspicious, challenging Erlang Shen to a fight. The old man floored the child in a single punch.
It was revealed the old man was one of the Three-Eyes Clan, the bandana hiding the third eye that he carried. This group of humans could unlock great wisdom through meditation, and so did Akio - though his awakening did not manifest a new eye, he did gain a hidden insight - the ability to sense the energy of all living things around him. And thus, with this revelation, did the true training begin.
When Akio was sixteen, he had learnt all Master Shen had to teach. He was stronger than him, now, and could manipulate his ki in a manner that even his master could not, such as the ability to fly. However, the master than revealed that his life was ending. On the last day, he passed his title down to Akio, despite his student's protests - he claimed he was too young, inexperienced and immature to bear the title of Crane-Sensei, and take students of his own.
"Ah, perhaps, but I can see... that soon, you will learn how to truly wield the power I have given you. Farewell, Akio Callahan... or Tsuyei Hiruen, a name that I feel will become important to you in the near future."
And then Erlang Shen slipped into the deep black water, and took his last breathe.
For the first time in his life, Akio Callahan felt frustration. What now?! He had learnt from perhaps the most powerful human on the planet. What goal could he possibly work towards?
Finding what family he had left?
He heard about the tournament. A group of tailed beings known as 'saiyans' were going to participate. Perhaps there he could discover more answers, to find out why his father had done what he did.
And so our story begins, with Akio taking his mentor's white bandana of purity.
