Lunar let out an irritated grunt as he looked over the damage. Those fools had completely caved in the West Wing of the castle! Thankfully most of the structure was intact, but it was completely inaccessible until the rubble was cleared and the place rebuilt. Well, at least he had dealt with the men responsible. It had taken him a bit to find the bodies and properly dispose of them. But blaggards like that wouldn't be missed anyway. The world was better off without that type.
He gave one of the rocks an irritated kick before turning to leave. However, as he turned, something in the light of the lantern he was carrying caught his attention. He turned back and crouched down. There was a hole in the masonry, no doubt blown by the explosion that brought down the chunk of the castle, but this hole seemed to lead somewhere. Guess that fool had done some good afterall.
He began pulling the rocks aside, uncovering the hole enough to allow him to slip inside. It looked like a naturally formed cave, here, underneath the castle. How many people had been here and not known about it? How many people had? What sort of things laid beneath this old castle? Though archeology was never one of Lunar's passions, the mystery of it all sent a shiver up his spine, and a smile of anticipation on his face.
Thankfully the catacombs were big enough for him to stand and walk in. His lantern lit up the place very well, showing a network of tunnels and open chasms, thankfully with plenty of walkways for him to traverse. He continued to go down, down into the dark depths of the mountain. This would be a perfect place to store hidden treasures, or maybe have a secret laboratory for his experiments. It would just take a bit clearing it out, bringing equipment down there...
He then stepped through a formed archway into a gigantic chamber. A large pool of shallow water sat in the center, and oddly enough a bit of light seemed to be streaming in from above. How was light reaching down into this place?
But that didn't concern him. What caused him to stop dead in his tracks was what was in the middle of the chamber.
Lunar was frozen in place for a second, his eyes locked on the sight. Then, he began to twitch, his mouth twitching upward as a small sound escaped his mouth. It grew louder, forming into laughter. Lunar began to back away, bumping into the cave walls, but never pulling his eyes away from what he saw. His laughter grew louder, rising in pitch as his smile stretched across his face. His eyes bulged wide as the laughter turned into a manic cackling. His hands reached up to cover his face, but his eyes still saw what was inside.
It was a good thing he was underground. Nobody would have to hear the horrible laughter that tore from his throat.
