The meeting she attended – or perhaps it was better to say ‘crashed’ – had given her some useful clues to go by and introduced her to many different (and some familiar) faces. However, as much as she didn’t see eye to eye with Zuccetta’s ideals to the same degree, she wasn’t going to argue the fact that she hated being treated as she was. The damn shades didn’t even work on her because she’d never transformed at the light of the moon! “Oh, but they’re still going to hand me a pair and say ‘Wear ‘em or face the consequences!’ Tch, fucking rude,” Speaking loudly, she was back in the familiar territory she could call an oasis known as the Bamboo Forest. True, it was where she and Snippar had first met but it was also where she first damn near got herself killed. A good distance away was the desert she escaped to but beyond that, she tried to learn about the elemental spirits that resided here.
Walking the trees, she was here not to train here to her fire element this time. No, she had a better idea in mind; something she had long been overdue to put time into. She gazed at the trees she passed by, musing that she was sure they be thankful she didn’t burn them this round of her training. When she reached a nicely cleared area, she stopped and sat down. First things were first!
Closing her eyes, she began to open her mind to everything that was around her. She wasn’t going to try and learn this ‘sensing’ thing that Bigby had told her about briefly. That was something she’d research before she assumed it’d be useful for her goals. With her mind cleared, she was attempted to contact various sprites that were sure to inhabit this part of the forest – of all places. Seconds cycled to minutes and minutes passed by like seconds to her before a soft blowing a wind moved her hair across her face.
She waited, with an almost uncharacteristic amount of patience, before…
You’re finally trying this time… Came a voice that nearly startled her. It was airy, almost echoing in her head and barely understandable unless she focused on it. In doing so, she received a chuckle in response, Yes… trying very hard… Did you almost did, this time? It teased her. Opening her eyes, Zerori would see a very thin creature, nude but without any genitalia to speak of. Their hair was long and multi-colored, flowing about them as their large glassy eyes stared at her in amusement.
“It’s about time,” She muttered, feeling her butt and legs almost go numb from sitting for so long. Meditating wasn’t her thing, nor did she like to do anything that had her sit for long periods of time; thank you, saiyan blood.
You didn’t think I’d keep you waiting when you never…ever… see me. I get saaad. Zerori grinned at their plight, even as she was sure they only wanted to make fun of her.
“You’ll live. I need you to help me…” She waited for the sprite to take the cue. It was tradition, she believed, to ask the name of the spirit to make a connection with them. At their expression of delight, it seemed she was correct in remembering her lesions aright.
Goodie, goodie! Yes, this one will teach you all you need to know… assuming this one is the one you need, As if to make her meaning more clear, she floated from where Zerori saw her and began to speak quickly and unintelligibly. Well, to Zerori anyway… Gradually, many more lights in the forest began to spark and glint before other figures of varying different sizes. Wind elements were slim and tiny but fast and spry. Earthly elementals were mid-sized but very lean, almost sage-like. Water ones seemed to also look whorish but in a seductive and sensual way; it didn’t due to sexualize them since they could drown you easily. And fire…
With a knowing glint, Zerori locked eyes with a large and forbidding sprite that had his red-eyed gaze locked to her in turn. They shared a glare before she grinned at the being that she knew almost intimately, “Pyrus… It’s good to finally see you again,” she greeted. However, his response was not so positive.
Your lesson continues to elude you, Demonling. Weak and unworthy yet always coming to me like you have no clue how to overcome my trials! He snarled at her and she seemed to shrink back a bit. She’d long since spoke to Pyrus, the fire element she’d sought after when she first began her elemental training. His reaction was tame compared to when they first met, burning her to nearly an ash to prove her weakness as a point. Her survival seemed to intrigue him and since then, they’d been begrudgingly offering the other support… Well… Zerori was getting support from him, anyway.
“You’re always so harsh, though,” She started, only to be admonished quickly.
And you never think of the consequences! You take and take and take but when demanded to return, you shy from my lesson. Repeat it now or shall I char your eyes from their sockets?! He stepped closer, the other weaker elements allowing him to pass through fear. Also intimidated, Zerori held up a hand quickly to recite.
“Ah, erm, T-Toil in fire’s might and feel it’s power to right, but ah…” She was struggling to remember, really only knowing that she was seeking power. When his face almost looked completely unhinged, the answer came suddenly and she quickly finished, “But, ah, forget the law of light and suffer its oversight! See, I remembered!”
When he seemed only somewhat convinced of her remembrance, the wind sprite sauntered up to him with an almost insolent tone as she waggled a finger at him.
Arrogant, mean yet powerful one! This is my lesson to teach and her lesson to learn! Staring down at the bold sprite, the fire element seemed to only huff at her before turning to retreat back to his domain. He’d be summoned from the desert but didn’t bother to tell the little one that he knew the Halfling more than the wind one could know. When the wind sprite was satisfied with his departure, she turned back to Zerori – whom was wiping her brow in relief.
“He’s terrifying when he’s mad,” she noted. With a smile the wind sprite giggled and waited for Zerori’s answer to her previous inquiry. “Ah, it’s wind... that I need for this task.” Expecting the sprite to share her name, she was caught off guard when she didn’t receive a response and just sighed, “I need… to fly.”
The cutting laughter that she received almost made her want to close up and ignore ever coming here. The sprite calmed quickly at the torn expression on Zerori’s face and smiled sweetly, Yes, yes! We will teach and this one shall learn, little Zero. At Zerori’s childhood name, she frowned petulantly and crossed her arms.
“Tch, don’t say it like that…” And she flushed at the Sprites cooing.

From the beginning to the day and well into the night, it was drilled into Zerori the concept and ruling of the element of wind. The air, always open and inviting, still had its constant obstacles that she needed to be aware of. She could never move to where she did not know existed. Her energy was still a factor in how she moved – based on how fast, in what direction and in succession with any other movements she would perform. There were so many different aspects she never thought of, she almost didn’t realize that she wasn’t learning to fly…
“’Wind Cutting’…?” Zerori asked in disbelief, deceived so ironically by the innocent-looking sprite. “I needed flight, you damn fly!”
Cooing and making noises of admonishment, the sprite relented, To fly is to sing and to sing is but one motion of the voice. This one teaches so much more than just the ability to sing and you, demonling, do not know your own potential to sing and speak and talk and whisper. Listen and use and use well! After more knowledge was literally cut into her, Zerori found that the lesson was at least more useful than the fire one she learn from Pyrus.
“I don’t see how I’ll apply it yet, but… thank you, Ilaxia…” The name she received was flighty and fleet, just like the sprite herself. Said elemental gave a high-pitched noise of approval before retreating to her realm, silent and still one more for the calm forest.
