It was late in the night and the moon hovered in the sky, bathing West Capital in it’s light. The firmament was very clear and the few clouds allowed for a glowing panel of stars above the city. There was barely any wind. Suddenly, you notice a dot crossing the welkin in great speed. Soon, you are able to discern a small aura glowing around it as the dot reveals to be the silhouette of a man. Then, like a shooting star, it comes down, landing on the concrete floor of a courtyard. All you see is legs covered in blue pants. As the camera moves up and away from our object of interest, it is revealed to be our favorite blue person: BREU, the cyborg assassin. He was coming from his little meeting with Administrator Azure, which unfolded into a very fun mission that ended up with a whole quarter being blown up. He had just made his way back to the West Capitol’s facilities. The bio-android walks through the outer sector of the Blue Banner Army’s base and towards the laboratories. He needed to have a word with his creator.
Thing was that BREU didn’t come out a hundred percent unscathed from his encounter with the elemental. Sure, he was warned that it would take time for his body to adapt to his cybernetic enhancements, but he wasn’t anywhere near satisfied with his performance against the Elemental from Fenix Corp. Not that he would ever verbalize that concern; he had an ego to preserve. The fact that he wasn’t able to put his hollywoodian idea of blowing up the mezzanine with gas into practice was also bothering him. It would have been good enough if the only damage done was to BREU’s psyche. He needed some actual repairs made to his body His mechanical arm, most specifically. Imagine you are looking at BREU’s bionic limb now, peeking at his hand in a close-in. As the bio-android walks, you can see a few sparks erupting intermittently from the pal of his hands. What happened was that he absorbed way too much energy in his battle against one of Fenix Corp’s secret weapons… first all of those blasts directed at him… then, all the life force of his opponent. That much energy at once caused the pad to overload and it was already starting to malfunction. A few more of those fire, ice and electricity beams and BREU’s hand could pretty much have blown up on him. Needless to say he was very unsatisfied with Dr. Slouch’s work.
In a few moments, we’re with BREU inside the laboratory. It was past midnight and he found no one but interns and the Doctor’s personal assistant who was with Slouch by the time BREU woke up from his long slumber. Poor fellows had to stay up all this long to finish a few ordeals and have all material clean for tomorrows set of experiments. The life in internship can be a trial most of the times. The young assistant notices the presence of their blue-skinned guest and approaches him.
– “Android Fifty One? What are you doing here this time of the night?” – The young intern inquires, surprised with the cyborg’s timing.
– “I want to see Doctor Slouch. And what did you just call me?” – BREU asks annoyed.
– “Oh, don’t worry about that, Mr. Kurasao. I was just referring to your production number. I’m afraid Doctor Slouch won’t be able to see you now” – The boy explains.
– “Yeah, yeah… just tell me where the old man is already” – BREU demands.
– “Dr. Slouch is in his dwellings already. He is probably asleep, as he will be coming early by tomorrow for us to carry on with our ongoing project. Would you like to know what is it about?” – The boy explains and asks with excitement in his eyes. But BREU just blows him off.
– “Sure, I have nothing else to do aside from hearing about your formulas and scientific jibber jabber…” – The brenchian ironizes.
– “Great! We are running tests on energy coversion-“ – The young scientist proceeds obviously lacking the perception to figure out sarcasm. A sweatdrop froms on top of BREU’s head and he sighs.
– “Just point me to his room, alright?” – BREU demands, annoyed.
– “Oh… it’s in the back of the laboratory. But he’s aslee-“ – The youngster tries to explain, but BREU simply begins to walk as soon as he earns all the information he needs.
– “I’ve heard you the first time” – The cyborg reponds and keeps marching towards his “creator’s” bedroom.
Soon enough, BREU is in front of a metal door that is apparently sealed from the inside. First, he knocks with heavy hands.
– “Slouch, wake up already. I need to talk to you” – BREU makes his first attempt. Fail. He notices an intercom and tries to speak through it.
– “I know you’re there old man. Come here and fix me” – He shouts. No response. The assistant approaches BREU once again.
– “I told you he was asleep. Why don’t you come back early in the morning?” – The intern suggests. BREU frowns and shakes his head in anger, although not at all agreeing with the young scientist’s proposal as he was not even paying attention on him. The angry cyborg simply lifted his non-fully-mechanical hand and extends his hand towards the door, shooting it with a ki blast, making a loud noise as he creates an artificial passageway through it. All interns protected themselves in reflex, while BREU proceeded to invade the room. Naturally, the explosion woke up the senior scientist who jumps out of his bed angered and surprised, marching towards BREU.
– “ARE YOU INSANE? What the hell do you think you’re doing?” – The irritated old man yells at his unwanted visit. The bio-android doesn’t respond, he simply grabs the old man by his pajamas and starts dragging him back into the laboratory.
– "L-Let me go… Are you out of your mind?” – The doctor asks but again obtains no response from his assaulter. The interns surround and follow BREU and their superior until the blue-skinned warrior gets to a point by a chair, where he pushes the old man forward and sits down.
– “What’s the meaning of all this?” – Slouch interrogates a third time. In response, BREU extends his mechanical limb over the armrest over the armrest, opening his hand to reveal the occasional sparks emanating from his energy absorber.
– “Fix it. Now” – The bio-android says bluntly.
Dr. Slouch didn’t try to put much more resistance. BREU’s piercing look and resolve to get the scientist out of his bed were all the convincing he needed. BREU explained that it started after the fight with the elemental and the scientist confirmed everything I said on the second paragraph; the pad overloaded. In the next few hours, with the help of his assistants, Dr. Slouch made a few tweaks to BREU’s mechanical arm, replacing the pads with a model they were still running the final tests and augmented its capacitors to allow BREU to convert more energy.
– “This shall do for the time being. We still need to run some more tests on that model, but it should be more efficient in absorbing projected energy. Your energy absorber was designed to drain ki progressively, not huge amounts at once and in short intervals like you did. That’s what caused it to overload. I believe soon enough I’ll be able to provide you with an trustful advanced model when our research is complete. For the time being, just don’t abuse the device. Remember it’s experimental technology” – Doctor slouch explains. BREU stretches his fingers by clenching and opening his fist a few times.
– “Thanks, Doc. I’ll let you get back to your sweet dreams now. And sorry about the door on your door” – BREU jokes.
– “Hmph” – The old man groans.
BREU turns his back and walked away. Since androids do not need to get any sleep, he would take the opportunity to do some training. Although he surely became more powerful after consumning the elementalist’s life force, he was no where near his original power yet.
Getting out of the labs sector, he headed out to the hangar where Big Blu was landed. It’s gravity chamber would be a great asset to use in BREU’s training.
