So, hey guys. I'm new to this site, but I've been an occasional World of Dragonball player for a long time. I really like the mechanics of combat introduced on this site, namely the tiers of attacks and such. But enough about me.
In response to the "To Do" thread, I've come up with a list of example techniques. With some discussion and tweaking, I hope to make this into a list that new players can look at and immediately understand how a lot of Dragon Ball's staple techniques can be implemented in the forum. For example, a long-time Dragon Ball fan might see the Zanzoken in an episode and be like "I REALLY WANT MY CHARACTER TO DO THAT, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS OR HOW IT WORKS". Well, with a bit of description and flavor text, a list like this can help players better understand how techs work - both in character, and out of character.
The list can also serve as one of pre-approved techs that players can either copy directly, or use as templates to make their own aesthetic changes while keeping mechanics the same.
NOTE: I'm fully aware that a lot of these techniques seem overly complicated as they are. A few of them are downright convoluted number-crunchers. Also, a few support techs break outside the "1/3 rule" boundaries and incorporate other game mechanics, such as the 85%/60% advantage/disadvantage rules. Whether or not these will work in practice as well as I think, I don't know. But that's why I'm putting this up here. I'm just one guy. With some discussion and suggestion from the player base, I hope to make some of these techs work smoothly.
There's also the simple matter of flavor text, tech names, etc. Think I got something wrong, or could describe something better? Let your voice be heard.
So, let me know what you think! These aren't set in stone, so any suggestions are welcome. I'll make edits as the community deems necessary.

Example Techniques
- Offensive Techniques -
Kamehameha Wave
Dodon Ray/Dodonpa
- Offensive Techniques -
Kamehameha Wave
- [N1] Kamehameha - The user cups their hands at their side and draws out their latent energy, condensing it onto a single point. When the collected energy reaches a sufficient level, the user thrusts their hands forward and fires the energy in the form of a large, blue beam. The motion is typically accompanied by yelling the name of the technique. The attack delivers damage over the target's entire body, and is good at repelling other energy-based attacks.
- [UP2] Super Kamehameha - The user collects a larger amount of energy from their body, resulting in a bright light that emanates from their hands while the technique charges up. When fired, it is much more destructive than the basic level Kamehameha.
- [V2] Bending Kamehameha - After firing the basic Kamehameha wave, the user exerts expert control over the beam, even as it flies toward the target. This allows the user to bend and turn the wave, chasing after an evading opponent.
- [MP3] Ultimate Kamehameha - The user collects a huge amount of energy from their body, creating a blinding light as they charge the attack. The immediate terrain might break apart as the user collects the energy. When fired, the beam carries an incredibly destructive power with it.
- [UV3] Bending Super Kamehameha - The user fires a Super Kamehameha, masterfully bending the beam in mid-flight to hit a moving target.
Dodon Ray/Dodonpa
- [N1] Dodon Ray - The user quickly gathers ki into their finger and fires it in the form of a super heated beam of yellow energy. Instead of delivering force over a wider area, like the Kamehameha, the Dodon Ray is a condensed beam that is capable of punching through its target, potentially inflicting piercing damage. A small explosion occurs when the ray hits an obstacle.
- [UP2] Super Dodon Blast - By expelling more energy from their finger, the user can increase the power of the attack substantially, making it more likely to pierce the opponent's body. The attack creates a more powerful explosion when it collides with an object.
- [V2] Dodon Barrage - The user fires numerous small Dodon Rays. While the individual beams are somewhat less powerful than the basic Dodon Ray, this variation makes the attack more difficult to avoid, and allows the user to attack multiple targets.
- [MP3] Super Dodon Wave - The user fires a larger Dodon Ray at maximum power. A direct hit from this attack can potentially blast a large hole in its target. The heat generated from the beam can also sear an opponent's body. When colliding with an obstacle, the attack creates a large explosion of white-hot energy.
Big Bang Attack
- [N1] Big Bang Attack - The user holds their hand toward and opponent, palm out, and collects their ki into a large, blue sphere. When ready, they fire the ball of energy at high speed toward a target. When the orb collides with an opponent, it detonates, creating a huge explosion that is often accompanied by a mushroom cloud. The explosion is roughly the size of several city blocks.
- [UP2] Big Bang Burst - A more powerful variation of the Big Bang that results in an even more destructive explosion that could wipe out a mountain.
- [MP3] Big Bang Crash - At maximum power, this attack is capable of wiping out an entire city with its enormous explosion.
Wolf Fang Fist
- [N1] Wolf Fang Fist - An offensive technique that does not expel ki from the body. Instead, it uses ki to amplify the fighter's physical attacks far beyond their normal limit, allowing the user to rush in with speed and power at 33% of their maximum strength. The rush is typically concluded with a palm strike to the midsection.
- [UP2] Blinding Wolf Fang Fist - The user first charges their hands with a bright aura of ki. Then, similarly to the basic Wolf Fang Fist, the user issues a series of strikes at 66% power and speed.
- [MP3] Neo Wolf Fang Fist - The user launches a physical barrage at 100% of their body's capabilities.
Masenko
- [N1] Masenko - The user positions their hands near their head, both palms facing out, and begins to charge a crackling ball of yellowish energy. They then launch the attack, which grows into a streaking bolt of ki with a ball on the end that explodes upon impact.
- [UP2] Full Power Masenko - This powered-up version of the Masenko is charged similarly to the original, but takes the form of a continuous beam with a larger ball on the end.
- [V2] Double Masenko - By splitting the charged Masenko into two halves, each hand can fire a separate beam, resulting in two simultaneous Masenko attacks.
- [MP3] Masendan - An upgraded variation of the Masenko. The user charges the attack to its fullest potential, then grabs hold of the orb and throws it at maximum strength, resulting in a large explosion.
- [UV3] Gekiretsu Madan - The user brings both hands to their sides and charges the attack with each hand. Then, the hands are thrust forward rapidly, firing a barrage of many miniature Masenko blasts, each one creating a small explosion.
- Support Techniques -
Flight/Bukujutsu
Flight/Bukujutsu
- [SU1] The user propels their body through the air using their ki, enabling them to fly.
- [SU2] By increasing their ki output, the user can fly at an even faster speed. The level of energy used by this technique typically results in a faint aura around their body.
- [SU3] The user has mastered flight to the point where they can fly at breakneck speeds, usually creating an aura that trails behind them as they soar.
Rapid Movement
Afterimage Technique/Zanzoken
- [SU1] The user moves their body with a burst of speed, disappearing from sight and reappearing nearby, creating the illusion of teleportation. Fighters below 60% of the user's power level cannot keep up with the user's speed at all. Fighters below 85% of the user's power level have difficulty keeping their eyes on the user, but can still track their movements to some degree. Evenly-matched fighters have very little trouble seeing the user during this movement. This technique can also be used to match an opponent's tier 1 Rapid Movement, or a similar ability.
- [SU2] The user moves even faster, giving little indication before the technique is used. Opponent's below 85% of the user's power level cannot see the user's movement due to its speed. Evenly-matched fighters have a hard time keeping up as well. Only when the user is below 85% of their opponent's power level can the opponent see the user without difficulty. By using this level of the technique, a fighter can also match an opponent's tier 2 Rapid Movement, even if the opponent has an advantage in power level. This requires more effort from the disadvantaged fighter, however.
- [SU3] Without appearing to move at all, the user suddenly moves with such speed that they disappear without warning. Even a fighter of equal power level cannot track the user's intense speed. If the user is under 85% of the opponent's power level, the opponent will have trouble tracking the user. If the user is below 60% of the opponent's power level, the technique will have little effect. This tier of the technique can be used to match the speed of an opponent's tier 3 Rapid Movement, even if the opponent has an advantage in power level. The greater the advantage, however, the more effort it will require of the lower-leveled fighter.
Afterimage Technique/Zanzoken
- [SU1] The user changes direction while moving so quickly that an afterimage of the fighter is created, creating a short illusion to deceive the opponent. The illusion is limited, and only carries out a single action before vanishing.
- [SU2] The user uses a burst of speed to create an afterimage that can carry out a short series of "recorded" movements before vanishing.
- [SU3] The user moves with such proficiency that they leave behind an afterimage that is able to move independently for several seconds, carrying out a variety of actions to fool the opponent, before vanishing.
Kiai
Telepathy
- [SU1] The user yells and expels a transparent wave of ki out from their body. The wave can be launched in all directions, or focused on a single target. The wave can deflect attacks of the same level as this technique, and hurl away opponents that are at 85% of the user's power level. Equally-matched opponent's can keep their footing.
- [SU2] By forcing more ki out from their location, the user can deflect offensive techniques of equal or lesser power. It can also force away opponents even if the user is equal in power level with their opponent. At an 85% disadvantage, however, the user cannot force away their attacker.
- [SU3] The user explodes with ki, even tearing up nearby terrain. Attacks of equal power to this Kiai are bounced away, and the user can blow back opponents even if the user is under 85% of the opponent's power level. If the user is below 60% of their foe's power, however, the foe will not be affected.
Ki Sense
- [SU1] The user is able to detect the ki of other beings on the same planet. If the being is at a level of at least 1,000 PL, or if they use a technique equal to that level, the user will be able to detect them.
- [SU2] In addition to the above, the user can also sense beings on other planets, as long as that being is using at least 50,000 PL.
- [SU3] In addition to both of the first two tiers, the user can sense lifeforms that are on other planes of existence, such as Heaven or Hell. The user will only detect such beings that are putting out 100,000 PL.
Ki Suppression- [SU1] The user is able to suppress their own life force, potentially preventing them from being detected by others. A user of this technique can only be detected by tier 2 Ki Sense. If the user powers up in any way, becomes engaged in combat, or uses any technique that involves the use of ki, the suppression will be removed and the user can be detected.
- [SU2] As above, but only a tier 3 Ki Sense can detect the user.
- [SU3] Functions the same as tier 1, but cannot be detected by any tier of the Ki Sense ability. A special technique could still sense someone using this ability, however...
Telepathy
- [SU1] The user is able to mentally communicate with another being that is on the same planet as them. As long as the user continues to use the technique, the target of the telepathy is able to communicate back. In order to establish the telepathic link, the user must have already detected the target's unique ki signature prior to using the technique.
- [SU2] The user's telepathy range is extended, allowing it to communicate with beings on other planets. As with the above, the user must have previously identified the target's ki signature.
- [SU3] The range of the user's telepathy reaches extreme distances, even through multiple planes. This allows the telepathy to be used from another world, such as Heaven or Hell. Again, the user must know the target in order to use the ability.
- Special Techniques -
Destructo Disk/Kienzan
This attack acts as a tier 3 offensive technique, using 100% of the user's power. The user conjures a large disk of ki with razor sharp edges. Due to the precisely fine edges of the disk, however, it can slice through and even kill opponents up to 3x as powerful as the user if it scores a direct hit. It is also, of course, able to dismember limbs.
Tri-Beam/Kikoho
A powerful technique that draws upon its user's life energy. The user holds their hands out, using their fingers and thumbs to make a triangle shape, through which they aim the attack. The attack is then repeatedly launched at a target. Each "charge" fires a blast at an additional 133% of its user's power level. This means the second blast fires at 266%, and so on. The drawback to this attack is that each blast sucks up more of its user's life energy, resulting in an increasing pain and exhaustion. A user may fire up to four times (with a total power of 532% on the final blast), but WILL die if they resort to this many blasts.
Spirit Bomb/Genki Dama
The user collects energy from all chosen forms of life around them, combining the energy into a single orb of astounding power, before hurling it at an opponent. The attack starts off as a tier 2 technique, drawing 66% of the user's power into it. Every turn thereafter, a willing person on the same planet can offer up 100% of their power, adding it to the bomb's reservoir. Each participant can only offer up their power once. In addition, the bomb collects 10,000 PL per turn from the planet's various lifeforms. When unleashed, the bomb explodes against an opponent, unleashing all of the power at once.
