Race Name: Kitsune (Demonic Earthling race working as a modified alien type C)
Starting Planet: Earth
Starting Power: Alien C 1500-2000.
Appearance: Kitsune appear to be mostly human in appearance. They have fair skin and an androgynous form that could make them appear either male or female. There are several things that set them apart from humans: Their hair is predominantly red, white, black, or brown however the hair could be any manner of color as long as the color correlates to their elemental affinity. Instead of human ears Kitsune possess large fox ears and anywhere from one (they are born with one tail) to nine fox tails. Their eyes are catlike in appearance, but the color is usually representative of their element. Strangely enough, their complexion is almost always perfect. This is because of their skill in creating illusions allowing them to conceal any blemishes or scarring they may have suffered through. They use these illusions to also create clothing for themselves whenever they are around other species as they prefer nudity themselves.
Some examples of various Kitsune:
Background: Kitsune (as far as I’m creating them in this site) are more often viewed as comically “horror story” demons that devour wandering children at night than any major threat by the few people who study ancient lore. In reality a nine-tailed Kitsune is powerful enough to be considered a god on its own right. Kitsune are a reclusive race of strong sorcerers capable of bending people’s perception of reality to their whim, but they often interact with humanity in secret. They live within the larger forests and wildernesses of Earth, protected since their origin from discovery by their illusion magic.
Kitsune are not definitively good or evil, instead paving a balance between the two extremes. Overall it is the individual Kitsune’s concept of what is right or wrong that they act on; they get these concepts from their life and the culture they are immersed in. They easily adapt the finer points of their morals to their social environment; however several things remain constant about the race:
If someone offends what a Kitsune currently considers ‘correct’, they can become evil, malicious, and disruptive.
If someone behaves according to their ethics they will become polite, kind, and helpful.
Kitsune prefer to work with allies as much as possible, often showing a surprisingly high amount of loyalty to those they consider friends or allies.
Kitsune are notorious for, when they have seen a weakness in someone, aggravating that weakness until it leads to that person’s reformation or self-destruction. This is less obvious with individuals with high morality as the Kitsune would mostly play small pranks in an effort to keep them humble.
Kitsune have a high sense of honor and always keep their promises. They also hold others to such promises and become unforgiving enemies if a promise is broken.
Kitsune never accept aid from those who are not willing, as such any aid must come from another’s initiave.
Kitsune are highly vengeful, if someone earns a Kitsune’s enmity the Kitsune will begin enacting revenge that could become quite extreme depending on the fault the person is held accountable for. On the other side, if someone has earned a Kitsune’s trust they will see an unwavering loyalty and friendship that can last through several trials.
One of the most important things a Kitsune could possess is freedom. They loathe being forced to do something that they would not want to do and will do anything in their power to resist their captors.
Name Pun Theme(s): True names are oriented around any combination of magic puns, fox puns, and trickery themes, while their common name is some abbreviation of their true name.
Unique Characteristics:
Tails: A Kitsune’s strength is measured by how many tails they have. If some of these tails are cut off their power is reduced, however they can be easily grown back. This is further explained in the transformation section as the reductions and method to regrow tails varies with the number of tails available. If a Kitsune somehow looses all of his or her tails then their total powerlevel is cut in half and the Kitsune is incapable of using their magic or illusions until they grow it back. Additionally they are incapable of creating techniques that make their tails invulnerable (partial or duration protection is allowed).
Elemental affinity: All Kitsune are affiliated with any particular element (light, darkness, wind, earth, fire, water, life, death, ice, lightning, etc) and are capable of having magic that correlates to that element. Additionally they are more resistant to their element (powerlevel +1X) and weak to their obvious counter (powerlevel -1X).
[SU1-3]Illusions Perhaps the strongest skill Kitsune have is the ability to force an impression onto the minds of people around them. These illusions vary in strength and complexity depending on the skill of the individual Kitsune, however they are incapable of forcing someone to believe in the impression. Therefore they are limited to what they can do that is easily believable (they wouldn’t be able have things suddenly spring into existence unless someone is extremely gullible) and can’t truly bend reality, just people’s internal sensations that they use to define reality (for example Kitsune wearing illusionary clothing wouldn’t be protected by the weather but they are grabbed they could make it feel like the person is actually grabbing cloth instead of skin).
Aging: Kitsune are near-immortal creatures and they only way they die by “old age” is when their form becomes so ancient that it takes more energy to sustain them than they naturally have. When they reach this age (usually around 900 earth years old) they simply dissolve as their spirit fragments apart. On the other side Kitsune are considered fully mature when they reach twenty-five earth years of age.
Hearing: Due to them having large fox ears Kitsune are extremely perceptive to sounds. This can be both a strength and a weakness as powerful sounds can cause them to recoil in pain even though they would be a lot more receptive to their surroundings.
--starts with the following support technique for free:--
[SU]Heightened senses Kitsune are able to use their delicate hearing so that they are able to discern minute noises few would otherwise hear. Even the faintest noises would not escape their notice or understanding; this allows them to have a sort of radar sense of the area and are impossible to be sneaked up upon.
Weakness: anything above clapping hands causes pain and distraction, occasionally disrupting an attack if the noise is loud enough. Explosions on the extremest end can deafen the Kitsune causing disorientation and all around confusion.
Names: Kitsune, like many enchanted creatures, are aware of their true names from birth. Their true names have power over their person and Kitsune loathe to give out their true names in any circumstance, even managing to keep the name behind magical barriers prohibiting divination of any kind other than the Kitsune’s voluntary release. To give their true name to anyone is a sign of absolute trust and loyalty, possibly even love. If a Kitsune’s true name is learned by anyone, that person can command the Kitsune to do absolutely anything. Additionally a person needs to only say the true name to call the Kitsune to their side.
Transformations:
Beast form - 8x If the Kitsune is bathed in the light of a new moon they are forced . They are incapable of controlling this form, flying into a rage and attacking anything that moves. Earth’s lunar eclipse would occur two weeks after a full moon. This buff is stackable with tail transformations, however a Kitsune is incapable of gaining control of this form and can only access it during the new moon.
An example of what this beast form would look like:
2 tailed - x3 [permanent] Once reaching a certain level of development (13,000) Enlightened Kitsune are capable of growing up to two tails. If a tail is cut off it results in a reduction of power:
