Capper eyed Wyntre's name on the roster. He had heard a little about this Wyntre. Not the best. But, meh, surely not the worst either. He shrugged, getting to the announcement. "Major League, Arena Two. Wyntre Verses... Some crappy handwriting, I guess."
Recommended NPC: U13 Beryl. One of the older leaders of the Galactic Patrol, who doesn't use ki of any sort in battle. Still a terrifying foe in combat, and sure as heck not an easy one. ROUND ONE of the Minor League's Multiversal Tournament has begun! Feel free to make your own NPC for this non-player combatant, use the one staff brainstormed, or simply skip the fight if you do not wish to write a solo. The max word count is 2000 words. If you skip, victory will be presumed against the recommended NPC for the sake of the visual bracket

What an odd place.
The bird people were peculiar: Vargas, they called themselves. They resembled the Litt, in a way, but with technology like this…
There weren’t many occasions in Wyntre’s relatively short life that simply amazed her. She looked around to the audience and saw many strange figures, including a few other Wyntres. This was one of the only times in which she was truly amazed.
"Major League, Arena Two. Wyntre Verses... Some crappy handwriting, I guess."
Crappy handwriting? This was a massive competition. The prize was nigh-absolute… whoever would be giving crappy handwriting in a tournament of this scope, Wyntre reasoned, was either pretending to be stupid, was actually really stupid or had some legitimate reason to have a poor writing hand.
She entered the tournament and was met with cheers and boos (although certainly far more of the latter). Coming up from the other side of the tournament was…
What’s this?
”’Ey! My handwriting is totally lego-able!”
Oh good heavens.
If her first fight was to be representative of the rest of her fights, perhaps she should consider quitting.
Her foe, at first glance, was definitely humanoid. It had two legs, two arms, a head and a torso and in that, all was well. However, by looking past such simplicities…
Her foe was what some might have called a catgirl, but that certainly wasn’t all there was to her. Her fur/skin was a dark blue with streaks of an even darker purple, she seemed to burn with a demonic energy and had one of those— what was it?— Power Poles Wyntre had seen Zexama with. Oh, and she had curving yet pointy ram-like horns next to her inordinately long cat ears.
The catgirl turned to Wyntre but made sure she was heard by the announcer as well. ”The names…” She stopped, visibly trying to remember what name the two conflicting personalities inside her head decided on. ”Catdemonboobgirl! No, no, that wasn’t it!” She hit herself on the head. ”Eh… Quykra! That was it! I am Quykra, Demon Senbyo of Universe 16 and the fusion of Demon Queen Vryka and Senbyo Quince!”
Ah, now that explained some things. It explained why she hit herself and, presumably, it explained why she was fighting a demonic catgirl: it was actually just the fusion of a demon and something feline. But, that brought up a few questions: Why are they fused? Why would a demon queen and a senbyo even know each other? Why is she so powerful? How did this thing become Senbyo? What sort of name is ‘Quykra’?
The demon cat entered a fighting position.
Well, Wyntre supposed it was her turn. ”My name is Wyntre Cold. I am the…” Oh, to hell with it, why not? ”… Empress of the Arcosian Empire.” Ever still, she did not enter any sort of combative stance.
”Ah, an Empress? After I defeat you, my demonic side can start calling herself the ‘Empress of Hell’! Oh, and the other side can call itself…” Eh? ”… ‘lizardcat’?"
Intriguing.
Quykra flew forwards at Wyntre at full force, swinging around her Power Pole as she went. Under the assumption that her opponent didn’t know how the Power Pole operated, she attempted to surprise her and sneak in a blow that wouldn’t usually be possible… but Wyntre did know how the weapon operated and avoided the blow, turning the situation to her advantage. Kicking the chthonic feline away with a yank of her sensitive catty tail, Wyntre was afforded an opportunity to speak. ”The fusion of Demon Queen Vryka and Senbyo Quince, you called yourself.” Wyntre wasn’t even going to begin to pretend that she’d heard of either. ”If you don’t mind me asking, why are you fused?” The question had a few layers: it was asking why they decided to tolerate each other, sure, but it was also asking the mechanics by which they fused. ‘Fusion’ was something she had not seen for a very long time, and even the time she did see it didn’t seem to be the same kind of fusion as this.
Quykra pounced and began slashing and slashing and slashing. Wyntre began dodging the strikes with as much effort as was put into them. ”Actually, I do mind. I’d never tell an opponent information they might use against me!” And it was true: Vryka’s wisdom counteracted Quince’s… not wisdom.
A strange set of circumstances led to the Blue Sis (feminine form of Blue Bro) that stood there on that day.
Vryka was an assassin of the Demon King. She ran away to Earth for the better half of a month before, inevitably, her past came back to her. Another of the Demon King’s assassins, the one who would replace her, assassinated the runaway assassin. That wasn’t the end of her tale, however: she began to accumulate power in HFIL and eventually found an entrance into the Demon Realm. By that point she had become powerful enough to murder her murderer. With that show of power she got the rest of the order of assassins on her side as they took down the Demon King together. Vryka became Demon Queen Vryka and expanded into HFIL so as not to provoke Mr. Zub.
Quince, conversely, took an active role in the Z-Fighters and as an advisor to the Kami. He became the major contributor of beans of all flavors and types the world over. After eating way too much at an all-you-can-eat buffet one night Quince became so dead that he skipped Yemma’s line and went straight to HFIL. He immediately became infatuated with Queen Vryka before reviving himself with a burp seconds later. Needless to say, the love wasn’t mutual, but Vryka was drunk enough to agree to become fusing partners with the cat and was too polite to retract her promise. Besides, why should she? Quykra was very powerful, and other than the appearance and slight personality modifications, Vryka was very much so dominant. Quince was just happy to see boobs every time he looked down, because of course he was.
”Have it your way.”
The two began striking each other at full force.
Wyntre went in for a punch, which Quykra dodged with cat-like reflexes, if cat-like reflexes were as fast as a combatant with 500,000PL dodging quickly. Quykra attacked back with a clawed palm and a hiss. Wyntre caught the half-demon’s wrist but, before she could retaliate, Quykra was no more.
To the left and to the right were Vryka and Quince respectively.
”Aw, nuts. We weren’t paying attention to maintaining the fusion.”
Now the one was two. Wyntre had her scouter on her— she knew that Vryka was much more powerful than Quince. She released her purple aura to its full extent; Quince was blown away by her power and fell out of the ring, Vryka doing nothing to prevent this.
Speaking of Vryka…
No longer was she blue. No longer did she have fur, or cat ears, or whiskers, or that stupid high-pitched voice. She wasn’t wearing the strange clothing from before, either: now it seemed to fit with her personality a bit more.
She was a bit taller than before. Instead of strangely pointy cat ears, she had pointy ears that more resembled a Konatsian’s. Her hair was dark, her skin was purple. She wore clothes fitting of a Demon Queen and her horns formed a shape resembling a crown, yet neither touched the other.
”Perhaps I should thank you. Frankly, I regret not choosing another fusing partner. You’d have been a good pick if you weren’t already fusing with Zexama.” Intriguing. Again. ”My fusion time has run out. I know that I stand no chance against you like this, so I merely ask that you listen to my monologue.”
Under normal circumstances, Wyntre would have permitted this. After all, she was a monologue enthusiast. But, in this situation, they had only ten seconds or so until the ten minutes were up. ”No.”
She was aware of the rules: if the ten minutes were up, the judges would decide. She didn’t want to leave that up to chance. Besides, she was going to be resurrected at the end anyway.
”Very definitely no.”
She shot a Full-Power Death Beam at Vryka… and it went straight through her heart.
She collapsed, out of the ring no less, with only seconds to spare.
Who’s next?

A Vargas taps a sleeping Capper on the back, waking him up. He eyes the finished match below, quickly catching onto what to do with a yawn. "Wyntre wins round one and will advance to the next match!"
