Walking down the corridors within the spaceship, the young woman paused in front of the metal doors leading to the chamber. Pressing the button on the side, the doors slid open with a hiss. Stepping inside the huge room, the woman resealed the doors behind her. The words her companions had left the hybrid with resounded within her heart.
Master your strength; you shouldn’t be afraid of your own potential. Overcome your own weakness and fears, unlock that powerful form that slumbers within your soul.
Walking to the pillar at the center of the huge room, the woman dialed the gravity chamber up to twenty times Earth’s gravity. PAusing with her hand over the button to activate the chamber, the woman sighed.
“I need to get stronger. Falling in battle even for a moment can mean the same thing as death. And...dying isn’t an option.” Pressing the button, the woman fell forward as the pressure on her body more than quintupled. She pushed herself up off the control panel and slowly walked out towards the center of the room. Forcing herself into a standing position, the woman closed her eyes and began gathering her ki deep within. As the silver energy began crackling around the woman, she felt the weight burdening her body lighten.
So, this confirms my belief. My ki is what strengthens my body. If I focus it deep within and force it to surge into the first level, my strength increases by more than double. But...even at this level, the ki only surrounds my body and permeates throughout. What if I forced the ki energy to remain trapped inside, locked within my muscles?
Taking a deep breath, the woman pictured the energy surrounding herself, before grasping all of the energy. Locking it within her body, the woman tried to do exactly what she had done earlier; surging that same energy. A sudden, piercing stabbing pain shot throughout her body, as the energy rebounded and slipped from her grasp. Almost falling onto her knees from the sudden, severe pain, the young woman took a slow, trembling breath.
“Well...this is a lot harder than just thinking up the concept.” With those words, the woman straightened back up and continued her attempt.
Four hours later, the woman lay on the floor, ignoring the weight crushing down on her from above. Her entire body hurt, but she was almost there. She could tell that she was only a few small breadths from fulfilling this new ability. Raising one hand into the air, the woman closed it into a fist. Silver energy crackled to life along her arm and body, before vanishing. She could feel it as her body began shifting, muscles increasing in size. The soreness vanished, but the woman could sense her body was heavier than before. Moving quickly would be hard, but she had opened the doors to a new possibility. Pushing herself up, the woman looked at her body, realizing she looked ridiculous with the increased muscles. And her earlier assessment had been correct; her body was sluggish, but she could feel the power locked within.
Trading speed for power...might not be the wisest decision. But if I combine it with ‘that’...it could be something worth using in the long run. Letting her ki disperse, the woman almost collapsed as a new level of exhaustion and pain struck all of her body. Catching herself on the pillar, she hit the button and undid the gravity weighing down on the room. Rising to a standing position, the woman walked out and exited the room. This training had given the woman something to ponder and digest.
