As she began to walk towards the door, huffing and puffing, Ryder couldn’t help but wonder if she had already reached her limit for now. Her muscles burned in agony… but it wasn’t the agony of fatigue, only the agony of struggle.
~I can’t push myself too hard too fast or I might injure myself, best to take it slow… but who said I had to use my muscles to train in gravity?~ As though a lightbulb had lit above her head a glow of realization emanated from Ryder’s blue-ish green eyes as she turned away from the door and made her way back to the gravity dial.
Reaching out and grabbing it, the woman did not hesitate as she turned the dial directly up to fifty times Earth’s gravity.
The sudden force slammed into her like the weight of miles of seawater above her, crushing her flesh and bones alike. The force was so intense that her body could only barely withstand it to the least degree.
Dropped to her hands and knees like a ton of bricks the woman knelt there in agony, sweating drops of blood as she vigorously circulated her qi. Each rotation of energy nourished her fleshly body, expelling impurities purged by the pressure with each breath.
The seconds stretched on like hours as she desperately struggled to adapt. Minutes passed before she finally managed to pull herself into the lotus position and close her eyes in meditation. She might be too tired and fatigued to work out in this gravity, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t use this pressure to cultivate a stronger fleshly body.
Slowly the woman channeled her power through her body, healing and strengthening it even as the force of gravity strove to tear it apart. A milky white, jade like luster could be seen shimmering on Ryder’s skin as she refined her flesh and bones under the pressure. Lines of determination could be seen on her face as she struggled to make the most of the opportunity.
Time ticked on for the blonde woman seated on the floor near the gravity chamber as she slowly, ever so slowly traded Ki for strength to withstand and overcome the trials of this place. After no less than an hour of meditation Ryder’s eyes at last snapped open.
Rising to her feet, the woman found herself hindered only by the weight’s drag itself, no longer did her body experience the slightest danger from the gravity. A smile pursing her lips, Ryder once more began to walk around the massive chamber, relaxing as best she could given the exertion required to move at fifty times her natural weight.
~Fifty times Earth’s gravity… this machine only goes up to one hundred and fifty. I’m a third of the way there. Wait for me Tulip, come hell or high water I *will* rise up to match you. You’ll have to work hard if you don’t want to be surpassed.~
With a body refined by the pressure of gravity times fifty and rested and nourished over an hour’s meditation and warmed up by walking, Ryder took off on a run. It started slow at first, just a jog and no more, but before long Ryder was running as hard as she could sustain in the long distance. Her mind flashed back to her days in the old military with a smile. Here in the BBA it was like she had come home.
