Sweat, it was one of those things associated with nightmares. In Athren's case anyway and that's exactly what he was having at this very moment. Today was a big day for the young saiyan warrior. It was the day he turned twenty one, the day of his birth. For earthlings it was mostly a celebratory event that usually wasn't interrupted by troubles or violence. It was supposed to be a happy day, an enjoyable day. Athren had never had one of those kind of Birthdays. All of them haunted him, every single birthday he could remember was wrecked or ruined because of his differences from the normal saiyan. It really wasn't fair but that's something he had to live with and he didn't have a choice in the matter. As he dreamt his horrible dream he twitched around tossing and turning rapidly on the dark green couch in the pitch black living room of the Habane sisters apartment. His hands fumbled around pathetically, gripping onto any material available and tugging on it viscously as the pain from his past had returned to inflict damage to his present. How could a race be so cruel to single out one of their own because of their differences?! It wasn't fair. It didn't make sense. His whole life he tried to fit in, he tried to be the best he could to gain their approval but nothing had worked.. Nothing. They hated him, despised him, bullied and tortured him for his whole life. Even when they landed on this planet they didn't leave him alone. They followed to continue their brutality. No more, he would take no more of that nonsense. As he dreamt, it was all clear. . It was like it had just happened yesterday..
Running through his dream he remembered every detail. It was this day, exactly one year ago. The young saiyan had turned twenty and planned to do what most saiyan's did on a daily basis. He wasn't going to try and make it a big deal or anything special. He was going out to train and that he did. Not bothered by anybody as he picked his favourite secluded spot away from the brutal civilization of the saiyans. That was the only good thing that happened to him that day. It was barely an hour after that though. The location was a pub, Athren would have been downing a few drinks. The previous year, his nineteenth had haunted him that night just like his last birthday had been haunting him this night. He was drowning away the memories. . .
Everything was going well aside from a few comments made by the ones surrounding him. Those didn't phase him much but they did get annoying. It was up until a saiyan female approached him that his birthday was going well.
With a faint smirk on her face, she approached him only to introduce herself. "You're Athren, Aren't you? I'm Cabrite. I've seen you around plenty. You're the guy that's training non-stop, at least more than the others. Am I right?" With that, the young saiyan female had placed her right hand onto Athren's right shoulder. It would have been almost obvious what she wanted if it wasn't for the events to come.
Finishing off the mug of ale he had in his hand Athren firmly set it down on the tabletop in front of him. He didn't get up from his seat nor did he have any kind of smile or smirk on his face. He replied with a relaxed tone. Not a hint of excitement or curiosity had crossed his tone. "Yeah, that's me. What do you want?" He asked blankly. He wasn't up for any games or tricks. He wanted an answer.
She then playfully punched his shoulder lightly. "What I what is a spar. More of a playful wrestle if you catch my drift.. But you're going to have to come with me." She then began to walk towards the rear door of the building the had been in. It led to nothing but a dark alleyway full of trash and stink but that wouldn't have stopped the somewhat intoxicated blue eyed saiyan. She had his attention, though it was only for one purpose she had it. Athren had fell for the bait and followed her out.
Opening the door that had just closed behind her Athren stepped out into the darkness. He had a light wobble in his step and a light buzz in his head. He didn't even have a chance to look around, by time the door had closed behind him a fist had slammed into his face and knocked him over. "What the hell!?" Athren spit out with rage. He glanced up from the pile of trash he had landed on to see four shady figures plus a fifth of the female who had lured him out. Quickly he got to his feet. The saiyan's were mumbling to each other and laughing. Athren couldn't make any sense of it. With a quick flick of his arm, Athren's knuckles landed against the smallest males nose. With a loud crack it broke and blood poured out. After that, instantly after that... Athren had felt a very distinguishing pain on the back of his neck and all had gone black.
At that very moment, Athren's eyes had opened wide to look through the darkness of the room to see the ceiling of the Habane apartment. It was weird but he had very watery eyes. His past had hurt him more than he'd show but he couldn't do anything about it now. On the bright side of being awoken like this his furry little friend Sprocket had been awake to begin licking his face, though that wasn't enough to make the young warrior smile. "Not now Sprocket. I'm not in the mood." With that being said Athren softly picked his puppy off of him and laid him on all his fours on the floor. Athren then shuffled over and got to his feet. As weird as it had been, he had slept with his heavy weights on. Why? There really wasn't any logic behind it. He had just been too tired to remove them the night before. "I'll be back. Be good, Don't eat anything you're not supposed to. Got it?"
He had now walked over to the window of the room. He slid it open all the way and leaped out only to let his ki catch him and push himself upward. In a blast he was off into the black, starry night sky.
Where he was going, he didn't exactly know. Nothing had been on his mind except his past. Not even Kaiyo managed to cloud his mind right now and usually when he smiled she was the reason, even if he was alone.
Flying through the night sky Athren ended up hitting some rough terrain up in the northern area of the continent. It was dark brown in colour and full of large boulders and crooked, uneven pillars of hard stone. The area had a very light breeze blowing through it and some sand particles following the wind. That location had seemed perfect. Athren was going to use it to release some of his anger and rage..
Quickly he fell from the sky. His hair blowing up as he did. In all honesty the breeze had felt nice and it cooled his overheated and sweating body. It was a refreshing feeling that was surely going to fade away in the moments to come. Solidly Athren landed on his feet with a crash. The force of the landing pushed his body down to his left knee. His right foot stayed firmly planted as his right fist sat against the ground for the extra support. His ocean blue eyes then came up and scanned the area. At the moment he kind of wish he had somebody to spar with but that probably wasn't going to happen. If he wanted to he could go find one but he was much too considerate to do that this early in the morning, besides.. It'd probably be Ukare and he remembered their last spar quite well. It would be a good anger release but in the end be similar to the last and that wasn't what Athren wanted at the moment.
Locking his eyes on a large stone pillar Athren picked his target and how he was going to execute it. Obviously it was just a rock formation but in the end training was training. Athren then sprinted towards it. In a few short steps he pushed himself forward and flew inches above the dirty ground. His ki forcing back massive amounts of dirt and dust and the distance between him and his target closing fast. Upon reaching the sturdy bottom of the massive boulder Athren slammed his right, white gloved fist into it. In the same second the force of Athren's fist collided with the large boulder it cracked and blasted apart into a billion pieces. Athren was hoping to shatter it into smaller fragments that he could destroy before touching the ground but that obviously had failed. It was most likely the over use over power he put into that punch that did it. "DAMN IT."
Really, he didn't even know why it was here that he picked. Maybe it was just the fact that it was ideal spot to be destructive with no consequences and absolutely no loss of life. Though it had already lost its appeal due to the fact that he was just too strong for this kind of training. Maybe it was great when he was a kid, but not any more. "What the hell do I do now?" He asked himself aloud as he scratched his head with his right hand and ruffled his hair around lightly. It had been worth a try, but this place didn't catch his attention.
Once again, Athren began to lift himself off the ground to head up into the sky and try and find a new, more fitting location for himself but then it hit him. He had sensed a ki approaching. It didn't feel too powerful as it had been much weaker than him. Who the hell could it be he wondered? Why the hell would they be coming towards him? It really didn't add up. Half of Athren had hoped it wasn't somebody hostile as he didn't want a repeat of his previous birthdays yet at the same time he wanted something to get the anger out of him.
Looking towards the direction of the power level he saw a familiar face. It had been a blue eyed girl with blue hair. Bree? The hell? He was miles away from west city where she lived and it was the middle of the night. It didn't add up. Though he was positive he would figure it out in a moments time.
Softly she landed in front of him. "Heya Athren! What're you doing out here all by yourself at this time of the night? Surely the bed bugs didn't bite!" She said in a cheerful tone of voice as a huge smile had went from ear to ear on her.
Athren arched his right brow curiously. Though he replied, his tone had lightened up too after seeing a friendly face. "You know I could ask you the same thing. What the hell brought you out here? As for me, I.." He paused a moment. He didn't want to go too into detail about it with her. The only person who he would open up to about it was the exact opposite of Bree. It was his red head, fired eyed room mate that he had grown a crush on. Keeping it short and simple he continued his words. "I couldn't sleep."
She walked up closer to him. Her large smile refusing to fade. "Oh, Well that isn't bad. So the first thing you do when you can't sleep is come out here and blow up random boulders? Me and a friend are actually out camping." She then pointed over a large mountain sized formation of rock. "Just over that mountain. It's kind of a tradition. Sitting by a warm fire on a cool night is nice." She then continued on in her light tone. "It was kind of hard to ignore the loud crashing of you destroying things so I got curious and came to make sure everything was okay. Didn't think I'd be seeing you here though."
He'd nod to agree with her last choice of words. Really, it was one hell of a coincidence that out of all the spots she camped at she chose one near Athren's destructed anger management techniques. "I didn't think I'd see anybody here. Especially you. Though I'm glad I did. I've got a couple questions for you. If you've got the time." With that, Athren crossed his arms firmly in front of his chest. His ocean blue eyes focused on her own blue eyes now.
As a joke she then mimicked Athren's movements. She then too also crossed both of her arms in front of her choice. "Anything you want Mr.serious. Ask away."
Athren sighed lightly. Was this girl really going to start getting on his nerves? Ah hell. It wasn't what he had hoped for but his plan at this point was simple. Ask the questions and get the hell out of there. "Alright. I'll keep it simple. If I remember correctly your fathers a scientist. I'm sure he'd be able to create uniforms like the one I'm wearing right now. A simple jumpsuit with an armoured chest piece. Right?" After asking, Athren shut up and let the woman talk. Hopefully she'd answer so he could get the hell out.
She smiled brightly. "Yes, I couldn't see why he couldn't make up something for you. Just bring a suit like that by for him to look at and inspect and I'm sure he'd be more than happy to help you! Any other questions you need answered big guy?" she then scanned him from head to toe.
Feeling slightly uncomfortable he'd nod his head. "Yeah. That's all I needed to now. Anyhow, I need to go. Got a dog I need to take out for a walk." Obviously he wasn't lying but that wasn't exactly what he was going to do with his time. What he was going to do was some more raging and frustration control. At this time, she wasn't helping. Quickly, He'd use his ki to hover off the ground. "I'll stop by your place soon with an outfit. Tell your father I'm coming by. I'll see you around." With that Athren blasted off into the night sky before letting her say even another word. Surely it was quite rude of him but he didn't care. If he would have stayed any longer he was more than likely to have even more anger problems to worry about.
