Name: Ardaran
Alias: Sometimes goes by "Ardar" or "Ard"
Species: Konatsian (Alien Type B)
Gender: Male
Age: 21 years old
Appearance:
Ardaran stands at almost six feet tall and weighs around 150 pounds. He has long, dark green hair that goes down to his shoulders. His bangs are spiked. When not bothering to lie low, he wears a bronze chest plate and white robes fitted with various armor pieces around the vital areas. When trying to fit in, he will wear a set of Konatsian commoner clothes or he will don his green cloak to cover up his flashy armor and his sword, which he keeps on his hip or on his back at all times regardless of what he is wearing.
The Sword of All Valor
This elegant, yet simple sword of Ard's is around 43 inches in total length with a 36 inch mirror-like blade. The crossguard is silver with mystical runes and set with a pale, unremarkable-looking red gem. A small amount of gold filigree runs along the handle wrapped in white leather and the pommel is a perfectly see-through crystal ball. When one looks within it, they think they can see the shades of soldiers locked in combat. The scabbard is burgundy with silver fittings along the length fastened in with gold pins. It can be worn on the hip or on the back. While it is said to be many millinia old, the sword looks like it was forged yesterday and is impossibly sharp. Sometimes, in battle, you can hear the mournful singing of fallen soldiers that never made it home coming from the blade.
History:
Ard was born in the monastary of Guardians, as he would say. In truth, the young Konatsian was left on their doorstep in a basket when he was a baby. From a young age, he was trained to take on the role of Guardian, but he wasn't very good at swordfighting, nor was he the best at hand-to-hand combat. He didn't even have genius intellect to make up for it. He only had average intelligence. As a result, he was picked on by his much more talented peers. They would constantly challenge him to sparring matches, knowing his pride wouldn't let him refuse, only to soundly beat him every time. Ard only had one friend; the older Svern. When Ard was at the age of ten, Svern was fifteen. He was the oldest of the children, so he was something of an authority figure to the children in the monastary.
Svern would defend Ard from the bullies, keep him out of trouble, and guide him in the pursuit of becoming a Guardian. Most of what Ard knows, he would say, he knows because of the countless hours he spent training and studying with Svern. He never would give up on him. They bonded well, becoming like brothers. Svern saw innocence in Ard that he wanted to keep alive. It reminded him of what he lost before he got involved in the Guardians.
Svern became fiercly protective of Ard. That boy grew to a teenager, however, and things changed. Svern joined the Guardians and Ard dove headfirst into his studies. They saw each other frequently at first, but then the visits became less and less frequent. The two began to grow apart. Until one day, less than a week after Ard's fourteenth birthday, a rogue monster was attacking the city. The young apprentices were kept inside. Svern was put in charge of their protection. Ard was a moody teen, however, and eager to prove his worth. He and two others snuck out of the temple and went into the city to fight the monster. As soon as Svern noticed they were gone, he pursued them fervently. The kids came to the monster and tried to fight it, but noticed very quickly that they were outmatched.Just as the beast was going to squash them beneath its foot, Svern came to the rescue.
He seemed to have the beast on the ropes when it suddenly transformed. Backup finally arrived, but it was too late. To slow down the monster to save the lives of his charges, Svern imposed himself between the apprentices and the mouth cannon of the monster, sacrificing himself right in front of Ard. From that day forward, Ard swore to never again abandon a friend.
On the day of his induction into the order, on his 19th summer, he was given a charge that had a monster sealed within him by the Kashvar. His name was Faar and he was 13. He didn't even have the boy in his charge for a week when he lost him to a disaster. His temple was attacked by a monster controlled by a rogue Kashvar. He watched many of his peers sacrificing themselves to bring the beast down. Finally, satisfied with destroying the temple and all of its inhabitants, the destructive pair moved on. Ard was still alive, however, buried under the rubble. With the rest of his strength, he grabbed the temple's holiest relic, the Sword of All-Valor, from the remains of its resting place and crawled into a nearby cave to recover. Soon, he would have to leave and find his charge before something bad happened.
