Walking into town, the young woman made her way through the busy streets. Her goals for today were simple; visit Blade and his wife, whilst checking on Emily’s condition. Following the battles in the lowest realm of Hell, the woman had unlocked new abilities she’d never even known possible. Magical techniques, powerful attacks, all of it had been mastered and fully realized in that final clash with a man so twisted by a single goal he’d lost his sanity and soul in his single-minded pursuit. She had freed him in a flurry of honest punches that had torn apart his control of reality, souls, and power. Some of that had bled over into the woman, which resulted in her new talents.
Pausing on a street corner, her gaze went to the red sky overhead. Somewhere far above those clouds lay heaven, the mystical cloudy place where heroes and ‘pure’ souls resided over the literally hellish landscape that lay miles below. But, for all of its flaws and evil, Hell wasn’t an inherently bad place. Just a residence for misunderstood souls who weren’t quite good enough for the cloudy happiness that lay far above. Her emerald gaze only slightly wavered, before a slow smile crossed her face. Hell is a perfect place for a misfit like me. I can get strong fighting dozens of other misfits, mastering new skills and taking on opponents from every age since the beginning of time.
A person bumped into Tulip from behind, and the woman started to fall from the force of the bump. Whirling on her toes, the woman spun with her fists raised. Five men all took fighting stances, ready to lash back at the woman. All of them were Saiyan warriors. Recognition dawned on the face of one, as Tulip suddenly recognized the man in question.
“Uncle?”
“Tulip?” The Saiyan warrior stepped forward and hugged the girl, ruffling her hair. The young woman didn’t know how to react, as the man stepped away and displayed her to his four companions. He spoke loudly and proudly, voice carrying easily across the street. “This is my young niece, who grew up to be a proud and powerful fighter. Just like her father, doing her Saiyan heritage proud!”
“Wait...she’s Timothy’s daughter?” One of the other Saiyans stepped forward, giving her a slow once over. Nodding once, the new Saiyan stepped forward. Thrusting one hand forward, the man slowly spoke. “I’m not related to the girl Timothy married, but I can say this: welcome to the huge family known simply as the Solar Saiyan Empire.”
“...what?” The confusion in Tulip’s voice was clear, as she took the man’s hand. He nodded, firmly shaking his hand. She marveled at the strength in his grip, as the man finally released her hand. She finally spoke as the other Saiyans began walking away. “Wait, what do you mean, girl he married?”
“Ah...well, if you want to learn more, come along.” The Saiyan man motioned for her to fall into the group, as the men headed towards one of the side buildings.
The four saiyans, with the young woman in tow, sat down around one of the tables in the shade. The other men in the bar spread away from the table, not wanting to be near that particular group of misfits.
The Saiyan who had congratulated her had the name of Turri; not extremely original, but something that gave the Saiyan pride, to his father choosing the name instead of just the midwife that had overseen his birth. He finished his shot of hard liquor in one long swig, before setting the glass down.
“Like I mentioned before, Timothy remarried. Some young girl, who's exact past was unknown. They apparently fought together in various battles and other nonsense, before forming a romantic pair after the death of your uncle here. The blow that losing you and Plum did to the man was harsh, but the young Saiyajin who stayed by his side helped him overcome it. They got married after a little mistake over one evening. An accidental slip-up, you might say.”
Tulip choked on her lemonade, coughing roughly as the citrus drink stung her throat and almost forced its way out of her nose. Spluttering and finally managing to draw a shaky breath. “But my father was ancient! Or rather, he had to be at least 30 or something older, if I’m doing the math right!”
“Actually, to be honest, they had a shotgun wedding right after the situation was fully resolved and the child was determined to be on the way.. She was 18, and he was 25. They had the child within the year as well, a healthy, beautiful girl. The Saiyan’s name was Potapo, if I recall correctly.”
Tulip processed this, realizing just how deep her mother’s deceit had truly been. Her father had tried his best to get her back, to reunite their family under the banner of the Solar Saiyan Empire. When her mother had betrayed their bond, threatening Tulip’s life to protect the woman’s separation from the despised empire. Finishing their drinks, the Saiyans and hybrid parted ways.
Slowly walking towards Blade’s house, the woman processed what she had learned. So...I have a new mother-in-law and sister-in-law? Well, I’ll be sure to whip you for moving on so quickly, Dad...and I’ll be sure to beat the shit out of Mom, to pay her back for the lies.
