Name: Hinawa Hyoukai
Alias: Hopeless Dreamer, Satsujinki
Species: Human (Half-Animal Type)
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Appearance:
Hinawa can sprout fox ears and a tail at will. These are purely cosmetic, and they also appear if she is surprised or embarrassed, but are very much alive. Her natural eye color is blue, with a switch to red caused by a specific Ki technique (see below). On her upper left arm, she has a tattoo that reads '02' in big red font.
History: Hinawa's family was never one of the more social ones - both of her parents, obviously also fox-type animal humans, had jobs that allowed them to work from home almost at all times. They weren't rich, but also not poor, and life was simple and good after Hinawa's birth and throughout her early childhood. Thanks to the reclusive nature of her parents, she was home-schooled once he was old enough for school, and only had a few friends amongst the direct neighbors, mostly the children of other people that preferred staying away from big cities.
As a child, Hinawa was always happy and adventurous, and loved listening to old stories of heroes and villains. Often, she dreamed about becoming a heroine herself, saving the innocent and smiting the wicked, like you saw on TV. Her childlike wonder and fascination with such stories even caused her to try to imitate her heroes... which ended in her, at six years old, suddenly being able to shapechange into a small fox, signaling a hidden potential that her parents simply thought was a cute quirk and early development, since they obviously also were able to shapechange into foxes.
Her simple life in the countryside ended roughly 10 years ago, though. Hinawa was only barely seven years old when it happened. One late evening, a tired Hinawa was about ready to go to bed, when her father noticed someone in the garden right in front of the house, stalking through the dark for reasons unknown. Grabbing the shotgun he kept next to the door in a locked case, her brave but foolish father stepped out into the night.
Hinawa was unable to hear what her father was saying through the closed window she peered through, but she could hear the bang of the gun. It was followed by an even louder bang, bright light, and pain through her entire body. When Hinawa's eyes could finally see something other than white, the small girl was laying among the rubble of what once was her house. From her father, not even a corpse remained - her mother had been reduced to bloody chunks around the rubble. Whoever the man in the dark was, he did not bother finishing off the little girl - perhaps on a whim, perhaps he was sure that she'd die from her injuries anyway. But Hinawa remembers two things that she could see in the fire of her burning life - scars, all over the body of the killer, and that he only had one arm. As she drifted away into unconsciousness, those two facts engraved themselves into her young mind, together with a hatred so unnaturally strong that no seven year old girl should possess it.
Hinawa was found a few hours later by a medical team. As she recovered in the hospital, the authorities were puzzled as to how the house got destroyed so thoroughly - of course, nobody took a little girl seriously that claimed the 'one-armed man with the scars' killed her parents. When the claims didn't disappear with her physical recovery, she was transferred into an orphanage and given psychological counseling, but she was already stubborn as a small girl. She KNEW that they would never leave her alone if she kept telling the truth, so she lied. A lot. But in her mind, she never forgot the hatred and the image of that man covered in scars, and her desire to rip him to shreds - troubling thoughts for such a young person, and in the orphanage she quickly became known for being gloomy, never talking, and always muttering to herself. Yet none of the other kids made fun of her for long - she was freakishly strong for her size and age, and in her first week she had a fifteen year old on the ground begging for mercy, so she didn't break his arm. Unknown to her, she had accessed her internal Ki subconsciously from the moment on that she survived that Ki blast that should've killed her.
For one reason or another, Hinawa was never adopted. Perhaps it was her age, perhaps the constant cold stare of her eyes, but she went through most of her teenage years in the orphanage. Life became regulated, she even found a few interests - primarily music, and some of her old love in martial arts, even if the orphanage lacked the money to allow her to enroll into any martial arts classes of any schools.
This way of life ended around one year ago, when one day, while left to her own devices after homework, Hinawa - only for a moment - forgot the mental image of the man she had to kill. And that night, as if possessed by a devil, she fled from the orphanage, using her shapeshifting to slip out, never to be seen again.
Since that fateful day one year ago, Hinawa has become a drifter, stealing to get by, all while trying to track down the murderer - and while trying to never forget any of her dreams again, no matter how stupid they seemed. If someone could blow up a house with a flick of the finger, then a hero could rise just as well, to punish the evildoer... Life on the streets is always brutal, and often, Hinawa had to protect either her life, her modesty, or both, with kicks and punches, hardening her reflexes and developing her natural talent, up until this day...
Will she find the killer, and become a hero - or will she become an even more disgusting, terrible being than him? Is there a light at the end of this story?

- Bukujutsu [SU] - The ability to channel one's own Ki to fly. Movement speed is dependent on the Ki of the user.
