Yawning as he returned to the land of the conscious, Yuken was greeted by a foliage-filled view and a slightly sore neck. Sitting up and correcting the latter issue with a crack, the boy looked around him and saw a grassy field. Reminded that he had slept under a tree for cover last night, the boy brushed himself and stood up lethargically while admiring the view of the sun's golden rays and the field before him.
Stretching his arms to get some blood circulating, Yuken decided it would be best to shake off his grogginess with a bit of a warm up.
Moving his feet inwards and taking a deep breath, the boy closed his eyes and calmed his mind, clearing it of any lingering memories of dreams. Opening his eyes and gazing at the early morning sun once more, Yuken exhaled and moved his feet apart once more. The Saiyan's tail swished back and forth rhythmically as he touched his toes and then bent his backwards till he could touch the ground behind him with his pinkies. Holding this position for half a minute, Yuken stood straight once more and rolled his shoulders a few times before widening his footing and hunching down slightly.
Certain he was now limber enough to begin, the boy imagined a target a few feet in front of him and began to fire off some punches. The hits were light and fast, Yuken attempting to focus on weakening his imaginary opponent with mostly lefts before attempting anything drastic.
Peppering the humanoid fighter with a few more chest blows, Yuken's imagination seemed to suddenly take control of the foe as it abruptly fired a right fist straight back at him. Moving his head out of the way, the child decided to go with the odd situation and began to weave from side to side as his shadowy opponent continued to aim punches at his head. Catching on to the creation's rhythm, the boy slid in with his right foot, creating a small rut rut in the ground, and twisted his body with his left arm's motion. The attack hit his sparring partner square in the chest and it wobbled backwards unsteadily before falling over on its behind.
Smiling, Yuken maintained his position and began to think of something else he could work on.
After deliberating over the question for a few moments, the boy saw his opponent slowly get up and seemingly smile. Raising an eyebrow to this, Yuken quickly caught on when his imaginary friend quickly took off and headed east at an impressive speed. Copying the creature's smile, the warrior lifted off the ground and shot off after the hallucination.
Quickly breaking the sound barrier, both speedsters were neck and neck as the world around them became a blur of green, brown and blue. Wanting to mix things up a bit, Yuken lowered himself towards the ground and his humanoid vision, not wanting to be shown up, did the same. Both speedsters swayed from side to side to avoid trees, bushes and the like as they barreled towards their unknown finish line.
For all Yuken knew, they were going to be doing this forever.
Fortunately for the boy, however, his imaginary friend fouled up and crashed right into the trunk of a tree when trying to avoid another. Yuken stopped and watched as the figure was thrown off balance and skipped over the grasslands like a stone on water before rolling over a few times and planting its face in the dirt.
Laughing heartily, even going so far as clutching his stomach, Yuken pointed at the dark figure as it stood up and shook its head. Feeling a hot sting in his side, Yuken opened his eyes to find his creation snickering back at him and tossing a black ball of energy up and down in its hand.
Growling at the hallucination, Yuken clenched his fists and lowered himself to ground level so that, while still opposite the creature, he was a good few feet from the oddity.
Letting the ball in its hand fizzle out, the formation thrust its hands forward and slowly prepared a clear ball of ki while Yuken did the same, except preparing a yellow ball of energy.
Pebbles began to float off the ground as the duo faced off against one another and let their energies build, the fighters narrowing their eyes as their power continued to grow to the point where Yuken unknowingly activated his aura.
The warriors simultaneously dug their feet into the ground and anchored themselves before giving one final grunt and unleashing their attacks.
With a thunderous clap the two beams met in the center of the field and created a crater big enough for a house to fit in. Soon, a gigantic ball of light yellow ki began to grow as the two powers swirled around each other and sparks of white lightning scorched the already burning area.
Feeling intense resistance and realizing that neither combatant was getting anywhere, Yuken growled as his arms shook in pain and his legs wobbled before summoning all of his energy to the surface and forcing it into his beam. With its power doubled, the blast quickly overtook its opposite and swallowed up the massive ball of ki, the dark figure only having time to give a small gasp before it was struck and blasted into oblivion.
Arms falling to his sides and covered in sweat, Yuken looked took shallow, rapid breaths and looked up to find a rut of scorched earth that stretched all the way to the sunny horizon... but no crater in sight.
Looking to his left, the boy found that there was, indeed, no broken tree or holes from his rival's resulting crash either.
Falling backwards and feeling his eyelids grow heavy, Yuken realized two things: The first being that he had overdone his 'warm-up' just a tad and the second being more of a reminder. A reminder of why he never liked any of his imaginary friends.
They were too realistic for his world.
