Admittedly, the desert wasn't the most...typical place to look for a Pirate's Treasure, nor did it really make much sense. But Oswald was a savvy treasure hunter! He knew better than to only explore the seas, any Pirate worth their flag would hide their treasure where no-one would ever think to look! So of course, that meant the exact opposite of the sea. The Desert! Several holes had been dug in several areas of the desert, as Oswald flew overhead, looking for any sorts of landmarks, or X shapes. The wings made of water he had created flapped as he searched, and he was glad...whatever...he did to make them also seemed to make it so they wouldn't evaporate. "Come on...there's gotta be something here..." Oswald muttered, as he made another pass over the area. He felt hope for a moment, as he saw an X, only to realize that it was simply a series of holes he had made himself.
After a few more passes, he landed with a groan, wings vanishing immediately...he hoped he could figure out how to make another set. He sighed, and kicked over some sand, biting his lip, gently. He didn't like to quit while on a hunt, but really, there wasn't much hope left! Maybe...maybe the pirates of the past simply weren't as savvy as he was? That was sad...he'd like to meet some and give them pointers!...And...possibly take over their ship. He DID have his very pointy trident that he sort of knew how to use. "Man...guess today was a waste..." Oswald mumbled. He took a seat on a flat rock...which sunk into the sand when he did so. The sand on the ground shifted...as did the ground itself, revealing a set of stairs leading under the sand. Oswald's eyes lit up, and he gasped.
"Secret Entrance!"

"Deserts suck. There is nothing pretty to look at!" Maxxie shouted in agitation as she flew over Diablo Desert. It had been at least half an hour, and yet she was still within this giant area that she wanted to have no business with. 'The things I do for allies,' the warrior thought, referring to the package that she was told to get at a town near the Diablo Desert and deliver to Matthew who she needed to maintain a relationship with in order to ensure that he would help her out when the time would come. Her goal could lead to his death, so doing dozens of these trivial tasks were required before the man put his neck out like that. Maxxie believed these to be good terms, but that didn't mean that she had to like the terms.
The sun was shining brightly and the sky was clear. It was very hot out, which effected Maxxie heavily as she was wearing her usual blue sweater with a zipper, though this was balanced with black bike shorts, short black socks, and black sandals. Her hair was in braids. The woman didn't care much about the heating beating down upon her, because if she couldn't take it then she didn't deserve to call herself a fighter, since there were times where they would have to fight in even worse conditions.
After passing the thousandth boulder, Maxxie believed that she finally found something; a set of stairs leading to the underground. Now that the female thought about it, she realized that the desert was the perfect place for a secret hideout since most people wouldn't be caught dead traveling through it, since most humans couldn't fly. Sitting near the set was a man in a brown bomber coat that interested Maxxie as well. She now was thinking if he was unfamiliar with the passage like herself, or if he was the creator and was just coming out of it. Maybe he was about to hide it again before people like her spotted it. If that were the case, then unfortunately it was too late, because she was already descending from the sky. She had to go get a package, but the explorer figured that she had time. Maxxie landed right on the first step, then turned to face the man. She folded her hands against her chest and smiled at him.
"Well, what do we have here? A secret entrance that could lead to treasure? I am intrigued, so are you coming with me, will you stay here, or are you going to try and kill me now that I know your secret? Assuming that you set this all up of course," Maxxie asked the stranger.

"Huh? Who are...you can fly too? And you don't need water to do it? Wow." Oswald blinked, tilting his head a little to the side. And then his eyes lit up, and he grinned. "Nope! I think Pirates left this here a long, long, time ago! You see, I figured that a good pirate would know better than hiding their treasure in the ocean! That's like, the first place anyone would LOOK for Pirate treasure! So I thought 'what's the opposite of the ocean' and then it hit me! The Desert! So I flew here, and, you know, went around digging for treasure! And then I got bored, sat on a rock, and THIS opened!" Oswald cheerfully explained, gesturing at the set of stairs. "So...long story short, no. I'm not gonna kill you for finding out about this. Actually, you wanna explore it with me? Dungeons are WAAAAAY more fun with a party. Especially if it has some boss at the end. Most of them don't though. But when there ARE Bosses, they get pretty mad about people trying to steal their treasure." Oswald mused.
There was no sign it was any sort of trick, just a random guy looking for treasure...which it pretty much was. Oswald really, really liked treasure. And though he was more a fan of Pirate Treasure, he'd take whatever he could get his hands on...even if it meant splitting it with others. He wasn't exactly in it for monetary fortune, more...collecting. "And we can split whatever we find! That's how Dungeon Parties work. Sometimes people get a little greedy, but they tend to get some sort of curse, so it really isn't ever an issue for too long. Like, they turn to gold, or turn other things to gold...or explode...you know, usual curse stuff. Nothing too bad!" ...Alright maybe there was SOME danger in teaming up with him.

So much talk from the guy before Maxxie could even answer. She like this though, as socializing with people was fun for her.
"Without water? I don't understand how you would be able to fly using it. I use my ki to do so, as a lot of people of my skill usually do," Maxxie replied to the man's first comment. She pictured in her head how that would occur. She thought that perhaps he made wings on his back made of water? That would be that he was either a race other than human, or he used some form of magic. The woman also imagined that maybe an advanced ki user was actually able to use the elements. Whatever it was, Maxxie realized that she didn't really need to know at this moment, unless the knowledge was needed for a life and death situation.
"Pirates? I suppose your assumption about where they hide their treasure could be true, though are you really sure that they would be exactly smart enough and have the time to design this underground path? We haven't traveled yet, but I can already imagine that it will be a nice and long area. The pirates I am thinking of would rather not spend years finding a place to bury their items, as they would rather hunt it down. I would guess that a remote island would be the best spot," Maxxie tore his pirate theory apart. She had no assumption, but was definitely sure that pirates were out of the question.
"Of course I would! We should get started and head down there now actually. I am not really low on zeni, so I don't need anything down there, but I would love to just explore. You can keep anything that you want, though I may ask to take something if it is made of magic," Maxxie answered. "And bosses? Perhaps, ha. If there is one, I am sure we can blast it into oblivion," the warrior added. She wasn't one of the strongest in the world, but she knew that she was strong enough to take down quite a few skilled fighters.
"I am Maxxie Everstone by the way," Maxxie decided to introduce herself before they did anything else. She held out her right hand, anticipating a hand shake from the man. After that, she would head down the steps. It was pitch dark once she left the steps and felt hard flat floor, so she held her left hand out and formed a small ball of purple ki, lighting the place up. She was in a long narrow hallway, with golden-colored walls on her sides, with the floor being the same color. She couldn't see an end as far as her light could go, so she just kept walking forward, hoping that her new pal was following.

Oswald blinked. The sapphire on his bracelet gained a very slight glow, and wings made of water formed on his back. "Like this! I don't really get how this thing lets me control water like that, but it does...and it doesn't come off either! Other guys tried to steal it, but it never really worked out. I got this sharp thing!" He proudly (though carefully) showed off his trident. He was fine with sharing dungeon spoils, but that stuff was already his.
"Huh...not pirates, then? I wonder who could have left this entrance then...that just makes this MORE exciting though! After all, now there's an even bigger mystery...which means I gotta explore it now!" He didn't exactly seem upset by her taking apart his Pirate theory-it gave him something NEW to ponder about the dungeon. "Maybe...bandits then! Oh, or we'll find a magic lamp! But you could keep it in that case! You called dibs on the magic stuff already. I'll probably find something else for myself...but if I don't at least I get to mark this place on my map!" He seemed to be able to find positives in...just about anything when it came to treasure, apparently.
"Yeah, most of the dungeon bosses are like, really old, and not used to moving. They go down real easy!" Oswald nodded. Most of them didn't really seem able to keep up with him in the slightest...they had to be really lame!...or he was just unaware of how strong he had actually gotten since finding his treasure.
"Hm? Oh, nice to meet you! I'm Oswald Kelphi! Ooh...how are you doing that?" He had followed her in, but seemed more focused on the energy in her hand, more than the actual dungeon. "That's so cool! You have power over purple!" He had no clue there were people getting control over COLORS too!

Maxxie nodded as Oswald barraged her with answers to their multiple conversations. Her mouth went wide in awe as he showed off his water wings, she took on a curious expression at his new theory about the dungeon, bandits, smiled at his thought that they would find a magic lamp and at the fact that he was still able to be happy if all he was able to do was mark the place on his map, and got interested by his information on dungeon bosses.
Upon catching up to the woman in the dark hall of the dungeon, Oswald introduced himself in reply to her introduction, then asked how she was able to emit light from her left palm, assuming that she literally had power over purple.
"What? No I have no such thing. This is simply the ki energy within me being molding into a bright purple orb. The general color for ki aura is yellow I suppose, but some people are different," Maxxie replied as they continued to walk. "Surely you know what ki is? Or do you not, just getting by with magical bracelets to win your battles for you?" she added, now rather curious, as even normal humans know what ki energy is, or at least most of them do. She stared into Oswald's eyes while moving forward, bearing a worried expression on her face.
After a few more minutes of walking, the duo would appear to be in the middle of a crossroad. There were three ways to go now, not including the way they came from. The front path led to a red glowing light, the left to a yellow, and the right to a blue.
"Yo, I will let you decide where we head. I have bad luck with these types of things," Maxxie told Oswald, trying to get away from possibly getting them both killed. Sure she spoke of decimating a dungeon boss if they came across them, but in places like these, there was much more to worry about than just that. Traps, minions that had various strengths that took a while to deal with, and puzzles. Maxxie hated puzzles.
