HALA |
Basic Info
Name Hala Alias -- Height 6’1”, 185 cm Build Toned Age 169 Gender Female (♀) Race Demon Pun Language Slovak Location Earth Colour Tyrian Purple (66023C) Theme Profile
Personality
Temperamental
Hala’s disposition is almost as variable as the wind. Her typical demeanour incorporates a cold front, somewhat bitter and distant towards people in general. One could argue that her cool and icy treatment of others is quite expected of a Demon, but she is prone to unusual swings in mood. Provided she has a decent volume of alcohol in her body, Hala’s frosty and frigid outlook is replaced by an oddly warm and fiery disposition. Quite simply put, her drunken self is quite the contrast to her sobriety.
Of Guilty Pleasures
Despite her bitter core, Hala’s not the type to let it dominate her personality. In fact, she’d rather rid it of her being if she could! In order to escape her nascent negativity, she tends to binge herself on otherwise obsolete things. Food and drink in particular tend to make their way into her system en mass, intoxication sourcing a far more sociable (yet mischievous) side of the Demoness’ personality.
Warrior Princess
Born in a realm of chaos and discord, it’s not surprising that Lady Hala’s first port of call when trying to resolve an issue is violence. Even inebriated, she’s more than likely the type to start a fight in order to end one, and has thus become the hype woman in regards to a lot of tavern brawls. Despite being a Demon, she has soft strange degree of self-control, opting not to start a fight without good reason. Unfortunately, good reason in her eyes can be found in the most petty of disputes, but she’s still not the type to pick a fight for the sake of it. You actually have to do something wrong, or at the very least appear to do so, in order to rile her up.
Forgetful
The Gelidra Clanswoman has an issue, and that’s the fact that she can’t seem to remember events without good reason. Caused by her tendency to fall into drunken stupor, Hala’s memories are often as much a hazy flurry as the blizzards she creates, flickering like lightning in her mind before being lost to the ether again. It’s certainly not a stretch to think that she can completely forget a name and face in the space of an hour, though maybe such forgetfulness is better attributed to the fact that she never really cares about others. Only a select few earn the privilege of remembrance, while others earn in simply by being around when she’s in her worst possible mood: sobriety.
Appearance
General
Hala stands at 6’1” (185 cm) – taller than the majority of humans and similar races, but not by much. Muscular, her build is lithe and athletic, covered in skin of a pale red pigmentation. Her body’s hellish hue shifts according to her mood, not unlike how a human may become flustered or frightened, but can vary drastically between shades of cherry blossom, brighter magenta and dark ruby.
Face & Hair
Sharp and demonic, quite befitting, Hala’s façade shares the same scarlet shade as the rest of her, and as such is equally (if not more so) affected by her shifts in mood. It’s very rare to see her without a mischievous or equally disgruntled expression upon her lips, baring white and sharpened fangs. A pair of short, sharp and upturned horns protrudes from her forehead, breaking her fringe. Hala’s eyes possess devilish yellow sclera, broken by darker orange irises. Somewhat elvish, her ears are pointed, but the most distinctive feature is the mass of white hair that springs from her head. Some might label such a weave as unwieldy, impractical, but the stuff seems to billow like a flurry of mountain snow.
Attire
Lady Hala’s typical code of dress is rather simple, forgoing regal wardrobe in favour of more open clothing. Tattered Hakama (traditional trousers) of dark fabric are further adorned with white roping, while a pair of sandals are used for walking upon. Aside from this, she typically only wears ivory linen wrapping around her chest, as well as her arms and hands. However, she’s sometimes known to create an icy armour over her body, the style of which varying with each summoning.
Background
The Demoness known as Hala was born into a noble family of Demons, known as the Gelidra Clan, founded some millennia ago in a distant quarter of the Demon Realm. Said family, like many high class Demon families, ruled their territory through villainy and chaos. More specifically, they ran their region through war and pestilence, pitting their army against others in what some might’ve called a vain attempt at claiming total dominion. Lesser Demons became little more than cannon fodder, though those who proved themselves attained the valued title of retainer to the family.
Hala’s birth was a welcome blessing, as her arrival signaled a new generation; her father’s time would soon come to an end, and it would be his daughter who would take the reins. Retainers and enslaved Demons alike immediately plotted against their liege, under the notion that the King’s offspring would pose no issue to the battle-hardened and more mischievous imps. However, after years gone by, the plan was unravelled. Hala’s disposition was far worse than her old man’s! The warrior princess was truly vicious, callous and cold of heart. Even the Gelidra family’s most loyal retainers despised her!
Lady Hala’s progression was fast, though perhaps too fast in the eyes of some. Whereas her father before her was cruel, the retainers soon noted that their new charge would be far more difficult to persuade. Any act of questioning, even logical, against the aspiring warrior queen was met with brutal treatment. Her father had no choice but to oblige, wishing to continue his legacy no matter what. However, tensions were growing higher and higher with every passing year.
Eventually, about fifty years ago, the retainers of the clan grew impatient and angered. In an act of rebellion, they tried to oppose the Demon Lord and his daughter, forcing a (not-so-)civil war, in which many lesser lives were lost. Some scattered, several retainers and even a few family members deciding they wanted nothing more to do with the ensuing chaos, while others fought on. Hala, however, fought on the front. Her body became scarred from numerous injuries, but every time she bounced back to some extent, until eventually the rebellion was quelled.
By the end of the conflict, the domain was desolate. In a fit of final rage, the Demon Lord of Gelidra banished those remaining from the realm, locking himself within his castle. Sieges were tried, but they all failed, and even Hala was left outside at the mercy of the rebel forces. Time passed, Hala and a few loyal followers doing their best to hold the gate, but the warrior princess’ strength and drive was waning fast. Somewhat sheltered by her father’s design, her skills paled in comparison to some of the other Demons that dwelt in the domain; officers of the army were oft on par with her, and the only reason she was successful was because few dared to try and deliver critical blows and further aggravate her paternity.
This civil war had turned sour, though nobody really understood why that was the case. That was, until the Lord himself opened the gates and announced that all who stood in defiance of his legacy would be cast out. Nobody knew why, few had time to comprehend it, save for Hala herself. She and the few valiant souls who had fought for her father’s wishes were privy to his disgust; born in battle and forged of ice and flame, he knew all too well the trials and tribulations of warmongering. It was perhaps hard to comprehend, ironic even, but a demon who thrived in causing chaos had been overwhelmed by the chaos caused by others.
Many abyssal denizens were cast away, some retreating, others accepting banishment to other realms. Some, perhaps in acts of cowardice, fought each other. Hala and the few loyalists were faced with a strange choice, but they accepted their liege’s wishes all the same. Her father wanted her to venture out, find her own path, though even then he kept her guessing as to why he would proclaim such things. It was a frightening experience, even to a Demon, but Hala was thrown from the Demon Realm and tossed into the Mortal Realms.
Winding up on Earth of all places, Lady Hala’s first order of business was to prove her demonic heritage to some rather unfortunate folk. Said individuals ran a vineyard, known for its fine alcohols, and in a desperate plea for mercy, they offered her their richest wine. Hala accepted the offering, with no intent of listening to the petty Earthlings. Fortunately, said intent was reconsidered a few bottles later, for the Demoness had experienced an odd transition. Her initial cold, callous arrival had been washed away, turning her into nothing short of a drunken fool. Whereas she had intended to flood the place in chaos and turmoil, Hala had ended up being the one to take the plunge!
Armed with a passion for something she had never experienced before, Hala set out to explore the planet for its booze, inexplicably drawn to places where inebriation was commonplace. Bars, inns and similar establishments found themselves with an unexpected patron whose appearance heralded bountiful profits. Once or twice, the lack of alcohol had ended up being the downfall of lesser, countryside places. But, in the long run, the drunkard’s antics seemed to do as little harm as they did good. Still, something nagged at the back of her mind; wasn’t there something she was supposed to be doing?
