PL -- 278,171; 6,397,933 [x23] Beryl’s recovery process had been going relatively well. He was still wrapped in bandages and dotted with band-aids, but his wounds and injuries were healing well. He continued with his usual training, though it wasn’t as intense as it typically was. Even if he was a tough guy, if Beryl didn’t give himself enough time for his body to heal, he would only wreck his body even more, which would further increase the time needed for his body to completely heal. And given the hell he went through for a year straight, Beryl wasn’t about to mess himself up even more than he was now. “Alright. I’d like each of you to pair up and warm up with some light sparring,” Beryl stated to the ten individuals before him. Some were human; some were Zoanthropes; some were even Saiyans, hybrids or Majin. With that, the ten individuals paired up and separated from one another as to give everyone enough room to do their sparring. Beryl had put up various notices about the opening of his own martial arts school sponsored by the Galactic Patrol: the Zen School. It was a school focused purely on physical combat without the use of external ki-based techniques. It was modeled after Beryl’s own inability to produce ki externally and to use it to accomplish feats such as flying, ki sensing, ki suppression and telepathy. Originally, he thought the school would have little interest; however, he was genuinely surprised with how many people turned up wanting to be taught. The irony of it was that every single of his students so far could manipulate ki, yet they wished to learn how to better themselves physically and mentally without having to rely solely on their ki-based abilities. It was a refreshing revelation. The class was being held in front of Beryl’s enormous, royal-class spacecraft parked a mile on the outskirts of South Capitol. It gave Beryl and his students enough space to work with while also still being accessible enough if anyone else was interested in the Zen School or the Galactic Patrol. Big Train

[HWs ON: 1,527 PL]
Big Train cruised the streets of South Capitol on his trusty Airbike 1000. He had just flown in on one of those big commercial airliners. He thought that his next step would be to find the Turtle Hermit and see if he could become a student of the Turtle Style. He had met the Hermit once and hoped that he made a good enough impression. But just as he was searching for Turtle dojo, he discovered a poster for the "Zen School". Big Train had never read about them in his MARTIAL ARTIST MONTHLY so he figured they were a new school. But he was HOOKED as soon as he read that they focused on physical combat.
That was Big Train's specialty, mostly because he struggled to conjure ki blasts (I swear I had no clue about your character when I made this weakness, haha). The Galactic Patrol was just icing on the cake. It was Big Train's biggest dream to help those in need, on Earth or otherwise. And the repelling on the Saiyan invasion only made this passion burn even brighter. This was way too much to be a coincidence, this had to be his calling! His chance to make a difference!
"HEY!" he shouted as he pointed a stubby finger towards a man in a three piece suit that was casually walking down the street. The man jumped near out of his skin, which of course made Big Train feel bad. "U-uhh, sorry. Sir, could you tell me what time it is?". The man stated the time in a very confused manner, it's not every day that you get shouted at by a half naked luchador. "Dang! I'm late..." he revved up his hover bike and blasted off, calling out a "Thank you!" back towards the well dressed man as he raced off towards this Zen School class.
The whole class would pause at the loud revving of Big Train's hover bike as the red dot in the distance starts to grow larger and larger. But curiosity would soon be replaced with alarm as Big Train started to get dangerously close for the high speed he's traveling at. But just as it seemed too late, the large man piloting the hoverbike jams on the brakes and fishtails into a stop. And with little time wasted the large man would hop off of the bike JUST as it reaches a complete stop and land into a sprint heading towards Beryl.
He had to be the master, his power level was massive! Big Train would stop just in front of Beryl and hunch over with heavy breathing. It seems that he's already out of breath from running just a few paces. "I'm-I'm not too late am I?? *Wheeze*" he'd gasp out to Beryl. And follow it up with a quick bow, leaving his hunched over position for only just a moment. There, in front of Beryl stood a man… well, more like hunched over a man, and well… more like a boy. Though his large size did well in disguising it, Big Train was still a teenager. He wore nothing but his red and white luchador mask and pink compression shorts. Though his weighted poncho covered most of this, as well as his bare chest.

"Huh?" Beryl peered into the distance after the sound of a roaring engine began growing louder and louder. What was once a red speck in the distance turned into an interesting gentleman riding a high-speed hoverbike. Beryl and his martial arts students blinked as the masked teenager slammed on his hoverbike's brakes, causing the vehicle to fishtail into the stop. The thick wrestler flew through the air, landed on the ground and began to haul ass straight towards Beryl. Beryl merely watched as the stranger barreled towards him, skidded to a stop, asked if he was late for the class and ended with a prompt bow. There was a period of silence before Beryl answered. "No, you aren't late; we actually just started. Everyone's taking some time to warm up," Beryl informed, still noticing that the entire class was still staring at Big Train in a mix of interest and confusion. "Were you interested in joining the Zen School? I don't think you're an official member of the school yet," the Zen Master pointed out. "However, you can train with us right now to see if you like it free of charge." At that moment, Beryl motioned for the students to continue their light sparring and that they did. "Might I ask what your name is?" Beryl inquired. He made a conscious effort to get to know every single one of his students. "And have you ever trained in martial arts before?" Since Beryl couldn't sense ki, he wouldn't be able to tell that Big Train was notably stronger than the average human; however, judging from Big Train's get-up, Beryl assumed that the teenager had some kind of martial arts knowledge and training. Whenever Big Train got done talking about himself, Beryl would nod in understanding. "Mmm. Since we weren't expecting you, it seems like you don't have a warm-up partner for you right now. Here, I'll warm-up with you." All ten students' heads snapped towards Big Train and Beryl. This new guy was going to get to spar with Beryl? All of them were thinking of just what kind of hell Big Train got himself into. They all had their chance to spar Beryl, and no one of them ever expected for such an ordinary looking guy to be so strong. Even though Big Train was more than half a foot taller and twice as heavy as Beryl, Beryl's strength was anything but small. "This is just warm-up; you don't have to worry about me actively trying to hurt you or anything," Beryl reassured as he brought up his fists into a standard fighting stance. This spar would also serve as the perfect opportunity to evaluate Big Train's skill and power level. "Whenever you're ready." Big Train

As soon as he caught his breath, Big Train realized that everyone was staring at him. That was something he still hasn't fully gotten use to yet. Though it has been something he's dealt with his whole life. But even hiding under his mask, he still has bouts of shyness. Big Train would visibly shift with discomfort, but he still answered Beryl's questions. "Y-yeah, I am" he nodded his interest in the Zen School. Then in an instant all the awkwardness seemed to drain right out of him as he bellowed, "My name is BIG TRAIN! And I was trained by master Bai Fang of Burrio Village, who trained me into the champion of the Junior World Martial Arts Tournament!" he would say that with pride, though some might mistake it for boasting. He'd flash a big smile to top it off and shoot a thumbs up towards Beryl, "I really appreciate you letting me join your class".
As Beryl mentioned having to be the Big Train's sparring partner, he noticed all the student's attention snap towards them. He wondered if they all could sense his massive power level as well. But it didn't matter to Big Train, in fact, he liked it. Big Train would nod as Beryl told him not to worry, "That's good, because you could totally crush me" Big Train would laugh after stating the obvious. He then shifted into his own fighting stance. It was a well rounded stance, his legs shoulder width apart and his fists held up in front of his face. Very much like a traditional kickboxing stance. He would then slowly shuffle into striking distance with the Zen School sensei. He was apprehensive, not because of Beryl's power, not at all. More so because of his status as a sensei and Big Train's respect for that. So he decided to start things off easy, even though he knew it would be hard to even land a hit anyway. He would send out a single quick and light jab towards Beryl with his leading hand.

Big Train? It was an interesting name to say the least but fitting considering the wrestler's height and girth. Apparently, Big Train had been trained in martial arts by his own martial arts teacher and was even crowned Champion of the Junior World Martial Arts Tournament. Beryl nodded, impressed by the teenager's accomplishment. "You're a Champion of the Junior World Martial Arts Tournament? That's amazing. I'm sure that if you keep up with your training, you'll be able to enter the Tenkachi Budokai and have a shot at winning that too." While Beryl wasn't heading this school for his own personal gain, he figured that if his students went out and started winning martial arts tournaments, then more people would be wanting to join the Zen School and seek out his training. It was a way for the Zen School to gain more publicity, and Beryl was happy to take as many students as possible so long as they were truly devoted to the school and their training. Once Big Train realized that he was sparring with none other than the Zen Master himself, he quickly stated that he didn't have any sort of chance against Beryl. "Aw, don't say that," Beryl said. "You'll be able to do fine. Remember your training, and just fight the way you usually do." Beryl watched as Big Train assumed his own fighting stance which appeared to be a traditional kickboxing stance. Tentatively, Big Train scooted forward before sending out a single, quick jab with his lead hand. With a simple step to the side, Beryl avoided the attack before immediately sending out a flurry of rapid-fire punches. "You can go harder than that," Beryl informed while he threw punches to hit every inch of Big Train's body. There wasn't much power behind the attacks at all, but it would still hurt just a little if Big Train was hit by them. Big Train

Big Train didn't reply vocally, he was too focused. He wanted to make a good impression on his new master. Besides, how could he with Beryl's lightning fast attack. But Big Train wasn't surprised by Beryl's dodge, not in the slightest. So he was prepared. Beryl's speed was definitely impressive, even when he was holding back.
Big Train would blink out of view. To the surronding students it might look like he teleported behind Beryl. But the Zen master himself would see Big Train clear as day as he moves with great speed to dodge the sensei's attacks. He would then side step and twirl on the balls of his planted foot, spinning around Beryl and stopping directly behind him. Clearly using the afterimage technique.
But he wouldn't stop there. He would throw a three punch combo ascending Beryl's body. One hook aimed at the side of the body and then a two piece directed at the head. This time he was throwing his blows as fast and as hard as possible. Hit or miss he would try to follow up his combo with an attempt at a judo style hip throw, hoping his combo might make some kind of opening whether they hit or not.

“Ah, it seems he took my invitation.”Beryl’s fists phased through a false image of the masked wrestler instead of punching the real deal. To any outside observer, it’d literally look like Big Train had teleported. However, to a seasoned combatant like Beryl, he saw it all. He watched as the bulky fighter darted around and behind him, hoping to achieve a tactical flank. Turning his body, Beryl shifted his position so that he was facing Big Train, and as soon as he turned, he was met with a three hit combination of punches. All three of them struck true, and each punch made Beryl stumble back slightly. Big Train could throw a punch; that much was for sure. However, when Big Train tried to toss Beryl with a judo-style hip throw, Beryl smoothly moved out the way and proceeded to try and smack Big Train with a spinning backhand with his left hand. It seemed like such an awkward, half-assed attack, but if Big Train got hit by it, it’d be enough to send him flying back several meters. If it hit, Beryl would give Big Train a chance to recuperate, not wanting to go too hard on his potentially new student. One look at Beryl would show that even the three direct punches to the face didn’t leave any sort of marks on him. Even so, the Galactic Patrol reached up and gingerly rubbed his face. His face wasn’t bandaged up like his arms and the rest of his body, but it still had a couple of band-aids on it, meaning that Beryl was nursing some wounds. “He can hit,” the Zen Master thought as he waited for Big Train’s retaliation. Big Train's punches struck true and it was time to finish the combo! He stretched to try to grab onto him arm to start the hip throw. But then the slender Beryl dodged with ease, gracefully moving from his incoming grasp and even got in a counter strike! The spinning backhand landed flush to the side of Big Train's head, sending him flying off to the side. He was heading to land flat on his face but with a tuck of his shoulder and a surprising nimble tumble, he quickly rolled back onto his feet using his falling momentum to his advantage. He rubbed the ear that Beryl's backhand struck, "Man, you're strong. It looked like you barely had any strength put into that spinning backhand!". Big Train was impressed and excited all at once. He did just what his former master Bai said, find someone strong enough to teach him. He knew he would be truly lucky to be Beryl's student and hoped that he was somehow impressing him. He wasn't sure how to approach him next and he knew that no matter what he tried, it just wouldn't phase him. But he had to give it his all! So he took off sprinting, disappearing and reappear as his speed increased. He had a plan, he would send out a feint attack using an after image. As he closed in on the Zen school sensei, Big Train would throw out a massive right hooked aimed towards Beryl's head before quickly shifting his momentum backwards with such speed that it left behind the image of his feint attack for just a brief second. Hoping that this was long enough to distract him from his true attack, a shoulder charge! He would attack from Beryl's left side, coming at him hard and fast he would lower his shoulder aimed for Beryl's midsection. His plan was to hit him with a spear tackle that would send him flying. "Well, it is a lightly spar, so it really wouldn't make sense for me to hit you with my full power," Beryl explained. Although he was a rather large guy, Big Train was rather nimble -- as shown by his ability to break his fall after getting backhanded across the face. "Just be careful about overcommitting when you're in melee range," Beryl advised, obviously referring to Big Train trying to go all in on his previous combination attack. Now that he had recovered, Big Train saw it best to go on the offensive once more. The wrestler masked his approach with several, chained afterimage. Beryl remained still, not exactly surprised or taken off guard by the sudden burst of speed. Once Big Train got within striking range, Beryl noticed the hard right hook heading right towards his head. He was just about to react to it until Big Train suddenly changed his attack -- the movement so fast that it left yet another afterimage behind. Beryl lifted his brows, surprised by the display. In an extremely casual manner, Beryl turned towards his left, right in time to meet Big Train's shoulder charge head on. Beryl crossed his arms and braced himself for the impact. The much larger male's shoulder crashed into his arms -- sending blasts of wind exploding from the impact point. "Oh. You're pretty good," Beryl complimented before attempting to send a quick, light right jab towards Big Train's left side. It seemed like a harmless blow, but it'd be enough to make Big Train stagger backwards. Whether or not that attack hit or not, Beryl would immediately try to force Big Train to trade blows with him. "Try not to overuse afterimages. Sometimes, the best approach is a slow, calculated one," Beryl advised as he launched several punches Big Train's way, aimed at his face, chest, shoulders and stomach. Big Train

Big Train made impact with Beryl's guard. They would freeze there for a brief moment, stuck in a "stalemate". He was happy to hear the compliment Beryl gave him, but his glee was soon disrupted by a strong sting in his left flank. He went skidding backwards on his heels from the force of the blow. His heels literally dug into the ground as he stopped his momentum. He slouched over a bit, holding his stomach, "Oooo~ my 'tomach!" his stomach was a bit of a weak point. He then slowly raised his head, about to reply to Beryl's advice about afterimages. But then he was disrupted again, Beryl's fist digging into his face, then his body. He wasn't sure where his fists impacted him on his body, the pain from several places mixing into one big rush of pain. However he did just manage to cover his stomach with his arms, blocking the second attack on his stomach. After all, he did want to eat after this spar, dammit! But as Beryl's fist drew back away from his guard, he would do just as Beryl wanted. He wont stomp down hard on the top of Beryl's foot, looking for any advantage he could get. Hopefully his attempt to pin his foot would cause Beryl's footwork and balance to be off, opening him for an attack. Big Train would throw out a series of attacks. He would lead with an open hand chop heading for Beryl's neck. He would then follow it up by drawing that same arm back, just a bit, before bending it into an elbow strike aimed for the side of Beryl's dome. If that missed he would use the momentum to carry him full circle to release a spinning backhand of his own. And regardless of which of those two strikes landed (or didn't), he would drop down low into a squat and spin, bringing his back leg forward in a circle. Attempting a sweep kick at Beryl's feet, in the hopes of knocking him down to the ground. Beryl Roarke

Beryl’s fist slammed into Big Train’s musclegut, causing the teen to slouch over and hold his stomach in pain. “Sorry about that,” Beryl quickly apologized, not meaning to put that much force behind his punch. He had to remind himself while that Big Train was strong, many times stronger than the average human, Big Train was still much weaker than he was. If Beryl wasn’t careful, he could actually kill Big Train with a misplaced blow or something, even one as basic and standard as a simple punch. And that was something Beryl wouldn’t be able to live with himself it that happened. Beryl continued to wallop Big Train with a string of fast, fierce punches. If he didn’t know that Big Train was tough enough to handle the pain, Beryl would feel sorry for the masked fighter. The numerous other Zen School students stopped their spars and watched the beat-down happen, wincing every single time Big Train fell victim to one of Beryl’s planet-busting punches. Finally, Big Train managed to block one of Beryl’s punches. The two stood at a stalemate, and once Beryl retracted his fist, Big Train immediately raised a foot and brought it down on one of Beryl’s, locking the dark-skinned male in place. The Galactic Patrol Leader looked down for a brief second, noting that Big Train was pinning him in place with his foot. Then came the attacks. Beryl managed to block the open-handed chop without too many issues, but the elbow to the side of his head connected cleanly, forcing Beryl to stumble backwards from the impact. Before he knew, Beryl was falling backwards, his legs swept from under him by Big Train’s quick kick. The Zen Master fell flat on his back with a thonk and laid there -- completely still. The Zen School students watched on, impressed by Big Train’s display. Eventually, Beryl forced himself up to a stand and rubbed the side of his head where Big Train had hit him. “You’re pretty good,” the Galactic Patrol leader complimented. “Strong, fast and intelligent? That’s a deadly combination.” Then, his left hand clenched into a fist. Without warning, Beryl sprinted forward. However, unlike Big Train and many others, he didn’t use any sort of rapid movement or afterimage technique to close the distance. Once Beryl got close to the teenager, his left fist swung forward with such speed and ferocity that Big Train would literally have no chance to react against it. However, Beryl wasn’t aiming for Big Train at all. In fact, he was purposefully trying to miss him by just a hair’s margin. His fist would go sailing past Big Train’s right cheek, leaving Big Train completely unharmed. However, what would follow was nothing sort of catalysmic. It was as if the entire planet itself quaked underneath Beryl’s single punch. The air physically cracked and warped; titantic shockwaves exploded outwards, sending the Zen School students, trees, grass, dirt and other random things flying away. After a few seconds of total and utter chaos, everything finally became still. Beryl kept his fist outstretched, curious to see how Big Train would react to his attack. TECH USED Capsule Breaker -- Capsule Breaker, in the simplest terms, is a technique that dramatically increases the concussive power of Beryl's punches. He proposes that if his power is great enough, he can literally launch people into orbit with a single punch. Is that true? It’s probably best if no one finds out for sure. Big Train

"Don't be sorry" Big Train would manage to speak out between Beryl's attacks and his own. He was truly surprised when his elbow connected against the super human's head. He was even MORE surprised when his leg sweep actually worked and sent Beryl falling onto his back. But of course Beryl made his way back to his feet, virtually unharmed. It made Big Train smile and his smile only widened at Beryl's compliment, "Thanks, my goal is to be the best martial artist ever". It was an honor for someone, not only of Beryl's pure power, but also his position as a sensei and leader of the galactic patrol to give him such a huge compliment. It was hard to believe that just less than a year ago he had zero experience as a martial artist. Hell, he had never even thrown a real punch before then. But he was snapped out of these thoughts when, without warning, the galactic patrol leader charged forward. Despite his lack of using any kind of speed enhancing technique, he was still so incredibly fast! It was unreal, Big Train could do nothing but look on surprised, eyes widening as the man was moving faster than Big Train ever thought possible. Kind of how you see the sun every day, but only really appreciate its beauty when you actually see it setting. Before Big Train could even process Beryl's mighty punch, it was over... Big Train's eyes would slowly roll across the sensei's arm and out past his fist and beyond. He looked behind himself to look upon all the chaos Beryl's SINGLE punch caused. Just the pure speed and force sent EVERYTHING hurled backwards. It was a thing of pure beauty. He would slowly turn his head back to Beryl, his wide smile back on his face again.
"I found the perfect master. PLEASE! Teach me how to do that. That was amazing!" he would quickly stammer out and then duck into a deep bow, his eyes never leaving Beryl's. He was anxious at the prospect of being taught such power and the trails and pathways such a power would present. It was all very exciting for the large teenager. Beryl Roarke

The best martial artist ever, huh? It was a common goal shared by martial arts practitioners and for good reason. There were numerous legends and myths about fighters so powerful that even the gods themselves kneeled before their power. Power was something that many individuals in the galaxy desired for whatever means -- whether it was for personal advancement, self-fulfillment, revenge, greed, or malicious intent. While Beryl didn't know Big Train's backstory, he had a feeling that Big Train wanted to achieve physical and mental strength for morally sound reasons, and that made Beryl feel better at teaching him. After all, he wasn't about to help someone train to become stronger only for them to turn around and become the next galactic menace. Beryl couldn't help but let out a small chuckle at Big Train's enthusiasm. "You want me to teach you?" Beryl asked, rubbing his chin. "I can definitely do that. You have potential, and I hope that I can do what I can to help you improve and become the martial artist you want to be." With a gesture, Beryl beckoned the rest of his students to huddle around him so that he could address them all at once. His dark-brown eyes shifted back to Big Train. "Do you know anything about the Zen School in particular? Like what it teaches and what its focuses are?" Beryl inquired. "If not, the one big thing you need to know is that I don't teach any sort of ki manipulation or ki-based techniques. That punch I just did? That was from pure physical strength. Of course, ki allows you to achieve that, but what many martial artists do is manipulate their ki externally in order to augment their physical blows, produce energy blasts and do all sorts of other techniques such as fly and sense ki. However, I'm unable to do any of that." Beryl then shrugged his shoulders. "So, I focused purely on physical-based combat. I suppose that's how I'm able to punch that hard. I do admit that punching is something I'm rather good at." Chalk that up for understatement of the year. Big Train

Beryl would be right in assuming Big Train had a good moral compass. He wanted to get stronger for his own self enlightenment and self-esteem. But the main reason was so that he could help others. He wanted to help out if there was ever another invasion. He didn't want to just be sitting around hopelessly while watching it all go down on the news. Big Train nodded enthusiastically when Beryl confirmed what Big Train had asked. He took a few steps forward with the other students as they gathered around the Zen School sensei. Big Train shook his head when Beryl asked the students if they knew the specific practices of the Zen School. He had only came here on a whim. Thanks to a random flyer. But now it seemed like destiny. He liked what he saw and now he loved what he was hearing. Big Train preferred physical power over ki manipulation. Perhaps before it is the style he took to. He struggles to manipulate ki. But it didn't matter, by now it is the style he always preferred. Big Train would ball up his fist and raise it about chest level. He would shake it with excite and bellow out, “That sounds perfect! I'm a physical fighter too, I can hardly manipulate ki in any other way BUT to enhance my physical attacks. If I could create power like that without forming ki, then that's even better!”. Big Train was visibly anxious to get the training started, patience was another thing he wasn't very good at using. Big Train's enthusiasm was a welcoming sight; the other Zen School students smiled, flashed thumbs-up and offered to fist-bump with the masked fighter. Beryl smiled warmly, glad to see that the other students were already accepting the newbie well. "I suppose it's settled then. Welcome to the Zen School," Beryl said, spreading his arms out before lowering them to rest idly at his sides. "We'll get all of your equipment and paperwork taken care of later. For now, I think it's best for me to get to know you better." With that said, the Galactic Patrol leader crossed his arms. "So, tell me about yourself. I'm assuming Big Train's your nickname." Then again, there were some pretty out-there names on Earth, all things considered. "Also, tell me what you expect out of me if I'm going to serve as your martial arts teacher," Beryl said, the shiny, ornate Galactic Patrol leader badge pinned to his shirt glistening in the afternoon sun. "Plus, you said that you struggle with ki manipulation? Do you know any sort of ki manipulation other than to enhance your physical attacks? My reasoning for asking this is that while I cannot manipulate ki at all and the Zen School doesn't teach ki manipulation or ki-based abilities, almost all of the Zen School's students know how to manipulate ki. I do not want to hold back your potential if you do have a talent for ki manipulation. The reason I don't use ki-based techniques is just ... simply because I'm unable to." Beryl ended the sentence with a shrug. "But if you can still manipulate ki, you can combine with the intense physical training that you'll receive here." Big Train
