Nai-Ran slithered down the sidewalk of Satan City with stars practically twinkling in her crimson eyes. She was loaded down with shopping bags and couldn’t stop grinning from ear to ear even if she wanted to. This was happiest that she had looked since first arriving on Earth. After her failed attempts and wandering off course, she had finally arrived at Satan City and loaded up on the goods that she had been after for what felt like so long!
The Ryashi wasn’t even all that bothered by the occasional pedestrian that screamed and scrambled to get away from her anymore at this point. By now it was just something she had come to expect unless it was a rare occasion where she had managed to do something so impressive that whoever she came across noticed that long before her tail. It definitely made things take a lot longer when she had to locate a shopkeeper that was actually willing to assist her. What was there to do about it though? If you weren’t bipedal, most of Earth’s inhabitants were just going to be afraid of you. It was an unwritten rule that Nai-Ran was slowly and reluctantly coming to terms with.
The architecture of the city was certainly nothing like she had ever seen before. All of the buildings were incredibly tall. Everything was tightly packed together. The walkways and doors were extremely narrow to the point that it was awkward to move about. Everything outside was covered in some kind of strange stone. In fact, it was pretty much the exact opposite of what the major cities on Appodorra were like. With everything so crammed together, it was a wonder how these people functioned in their day to day lives. Nai-Ran had to stop and apologize every ten minutes or so because someone had accidentally tripped over the end of her tail. Not that it mattered, since one look at her appearance usually sent them in the opposite direction.
Nai-Ran wasn’t about to let all of this spoil her good mood though. Besides, it’s not like she had to worry too much about returning anyway. The serpentine lass had managed to grab up everything she had hoped to get, plus a couple of extras on top of that! Whenever she managed to find a shopkeeper that wouldn’t flee from her, they had all been ridiculously easy to barter with for some reason.
Among the purchases that were crammed within the load of bags and boxes she carried were plenty of blankets and pillows to finally put together a proper bedchamber with. She had gotten herself some cooking supplies and spices; Nai-Ran was pretty interested to see how humans flavored their meals. She even found something she wasn’t expecting to find at all. They had incense on this planet! The young woman used to come home with new incense sticks all the time back home; it was one of her favorite things to find in the local market stalls. That was definitely something she had missed during her time away.
Still ignoring the occasional screams from the humans that crossed her path, Nai-Ran paused on the corner of the street to look around at some of the other shops that Satan City had to offer. While it was true that she had everything that she needed, she still had plenty of money left over. She didn’t really want to return here if possible. She had no use for Zeni out in the Diablo Desert either. Maybe Nai-Ran would at least do a little window shopping before she began her trek back. Even if some of the shops were difficult for her to get into, they had some of the most interesting little displays out front. The off-worlder could bear with a little bit more of the gawking and shouting for the time being.

(Gonna do their meeting after the tournament thread I had ) Emer was being avoided at the moment and very well should be. The seven foot Kagami was walking through the town, covered in bandages that seemed to be a bloody red. His body was pushed to it's limits during the tournament. And he had received some medical treatment. Thoug not much. People walked around the man shrouded in his black cowl, and his red eyes looking out from underneath the bandages. Though now he carried some money on him due to coming in second place, he had lost most of it towards the hospital bills. Shrugging slightly, Emer began to walk forwards only to trip over something. He fell straight forward, just looking at the ground for a moment a thought went through his head. 'This is gonna hurt....'And to his surprise, he actually stopped just a few inches above the ground. People passing by seemed to freeze in their tracks. As they saw the man floating a few inches above the ground. Looking below him, and towards his feet, he saw what looked like to be a tail. It was strange at first, and a sudden thought went through his head. He imagined a Arcosian. Turning his head to the right he instead saw something he had never seen before. It was definitely a tail, but it stretched up into a creature as half of it's body. Then the upper half seemed to be that of human female. Slowly bringing himself up back to his feet he rubbed his head. He didn't know exactly how tall she really was, but as it was right now, she was barely up to the stomach of the seven foot Kagami. Before he did anything else, Emers hand came up to the top of his cowl and he rubbed it gently. She could see that he was missing an arm. The young Kagami leaned over in a bow as far as he could with his injured body. "I am sorry ma'am, I didn't see you there..." He stated loud enough for people within a few feet to hear. That way the woman could also hear over the rustling of the street. Without waiting for a reply, Emer began to walk towards the shop he had seen earlier. It held inside what looked to be like a tailoring store. Emer's gloves had been completely destroyed in the last fight, and he needed them to be repaired. The girl could reach out and stop him if she wanted. As his arm would be facing her, though it would be awkward to reach out to someone. She could just yell at him. As he was heading towards the store he was thinking to himself. "Just what am I going to do today... I don't know how long I have on this planet. And the girls uncle has sent me here to earn my freedom... It's a bit harder than one would think. I first have to find a buyer to take my contract. And even then that doesn't guarantee my freedom... Because I'm basically selling myself to another potential tyrant.... Ugh so much for the idea of freedom, he really should of told me how to do this... At least left me a little bit of supplies for me to survive...' As Emer thoughts where going, he completely forgot about this worlds trafic. As suddenly with him starting to walk across the road, the light turned green just ahead of them. And people loving to speed would be flying through that light.

Nai-Ran moved from display window to display window, her eyes wide with a sort of childish wonder. All of these shops had such a varied selection. She would admit that that was one thing they did better than the markets of Appodorra. The displays themselves were nice to look at too. One window had toys of all shapes and sizes arranged to make different scenes as if telling a story. The next had cakes with varying styles of decoration placed next to each other to help each one stand out. The one after than had furniture placed in such a way that it looked like a fully furnished room that someone might actually have in their home. It was a lot more interesting than having a bunch of items spread across the top of a wooden market stall.
While lost in yet another display, the serpentine lass suddenly felt something bump into her tail. Oh dear, not again... She was growing weary of turning to apologize to people just to have them run of screaming. Still, it wasn’t just something she could neglect. It would be incredibly rude on her part not to at least give an attempt and making amends. She looked over to see a rather tall looking just as he finished floating back to his feet. Whoever he was, he was proficient in ki manipulation. It was a skill that she had noticed many humans had lacked. However, there were a couple of other things that stood out about this guy. He was covered in what looked like bloody bandages, he was missing his right arm, and he didn’t flee from her after noticing her strange appearance by human society’s standards.
”Please, don’t trouble yourself over it. You are far from the first to trip over my tail. My apologies that I can’t seem to keep it out of the way,” Nai-Ran returned the apology as well as the bow, being careful not to drop any of her shopping bags. Unfortunately, he was already walking away. The young woman tilted her head to the side as she watched him near the crosswalk. There was obviously something troubling the man. The question was, was it related to his injuries, or something entirely different? She was tempted to go after him and inquire further, but it was none of her business no matter how curious she was about it.
However, as she was about to return to her window shopping, she noticed that he wasn’t stopping at the edge of the sidewalk. During her short time in the city, she had quickly picked up on how traffic lights and crosswalks worked. The people here were very cautious about being hit by the motorized vehicles that filled the streets. Nai-Ran couldn’t say that she blamed them either with how fast they seemed to enjoy going. The traffic light where he was trying to cross had just turned green as well, which meant said vehicles were about to go zooming by. Was he not paying attention?
Not sure what else to do, Nai-Ran quickly reached out in the man’s direction with the end of her tail and wrapped it around his abdomen, pulling him backwards in the process. Hopefully she didn’t disturb his bandages in the process; it hadn’t exactly been her first thought when she saw what was about to happen. ”Are you alright?” she asked while carefully uncoiling her tail from around him. ”It’s dangerous to lose track of where you are here. I may be new to the area, but it was a lesson that I learned quickly. I didn’t disturb any of your wounds, did I?”

Emer wasn't expecting what had happened next. Suddenly he felt a strong force wrap around his abdomen, he heard a loud honk that sounded as if something was dying and it was annoying, but in the next second he was pulled off his feet and brought back near the girl. A little pain shot through him at the sudden jerk. But he was able to see that by less than a few centimeters a car fly by his face. Shocked about how he had just been close to getting hit by the strange contraption that these humans had decided to drive. Shaking his head slightly as he was seated on the ground his cowl had fallen off. Revealing his hair changing different colors as the light hit it.
Looking up at the snake woman, he saw that she had been actually concerned for him. Something he hadn't experienced from anyone before. Shaking his head slightly the young Kagami stood up and looked over at her with a soft smile. He was taught if someone was kind you had to be kind back. "No, you didn't bother them too much. They just sting slightly. But thank you." He stated standing there for a moment, turning his attention back to the female he noticed that she was carrying some bags. And it looked as if she was still looking around a bit. And for Emer his life had practically been saved, considering his current condition he wouldn't of survived that hit. Well, if he tried to save the human as well that is.
"I apologize for being rude earlier. I just was thinking about something... If you don't mind, I'll carry the bags for you as a thank you." Now she could see his face clearly. There was scars running along it, and a red cross like mark that was burned into it. His eyes where a fiery red, that seemed to be a pure red unlike all the water downed version you saw today. Thinking about her earlier comment he spoke out a little. "Though, what do you mean by not being here long? Are you perhaps like me, I landed on this planet less than four days ago..." Emer was counting that his first two days. He had ran into a crazy young girl, participated in a insane martial arts competition... And then to top it off, spent a day in the mountains... Without thinking he mutter something "This planet is insane all around... Things speeding by... Things trying to kill ya... And then to top it off, you go from hot to cold to rainy. It should just stay nice and warm..."
When he finally got done talking aloud to himself. He looked at the girl, he hadn't done anything proper. In fact he had done it all wrong. He had been out in the field for so long, he had forgotten the proper greetings towards a stranger. Turning slightly red as he had forgotten, he bowed towards the snake woman slightly. His arm tucked at his stomach, and the slight regal bow that you see butlers or slaves do for their masters. "I am truly sorry. Forgive my rudeness, It's been to long since I've talked to someone else besides another soldier. My name is Emer..." As he stood up, the Kagami felt his head go light for some reason.
The best thing he could describe it as was the low amount of blood he had in him. Leaning back against the street post that held the lights up, he focused his sight once more. Things seemed to dance a little bit, and move around in circles. The woman had multiplied in what seemed to be four of her. Just spinning around in front of him. His eyes seemed to follow some invisible thing, but it was trying to focus on one of her forms. Emer finally got his sight to go back down to one blurry image of the woman, before finally coming back to a normal picture. Shaking his head slightly he thought 'That is weird... That's never happened before..' Though those that had been on earth, knew the cause of this. It wasn't blood lose, it was the pain medication that was suppose to make a patient sleep.

The man sat on the ground before her with his cowl removed from his head. Nai-Ran was taken back a little by the strange properties of his hair. It was pale like hers, but seemed to change colors depending on even the slightest alterations of the lighting around them and how it hit the strands. Fu-Risu, one of her friends back home, would have killed to have her hair do that. That girl was always so obsessed with her appearance...
The man smiled up at her. It looked like whatever stupor he had been in before, he had been jarred from it. At least it didn’t jar him so much to disturb whatever wounds lie beneath his bandages. His face looked pretty beat up as well. What exactly had this guy gotten himself into to emerge so bloodied, especially since this was what he looked like after receiving medical treatment?
”I accept your apology, but don’t worry about it too much. Forgive me for prying, but you appear to have a lot on your mind,” Nai-Ran spoke while shaking her head. ”Thank you for the offer. However, I’m the one that decided to go a little overboard with today’s shopping. Besides, it’s not like it’s all that heavy. I assure you that I’m stronger than I look.” Even if she didn’t accept his offer, she was still glad that she had bumped into a gentleman for once. They seemed to be in short supply here on Earth.
Deciding she wasn’t going anywhere just this moment, she placed her bags on the sidewalk beside her and curled her tail around them. Even though she was wrapped up in pleasant conversation, Nai-Ran still spotted the awkward stares that she was getting from people passing by from the corner of her eye. Why rush though? Sure it sometimes got uncomfortable and could be distracting, but it’s not like she was doing anything wrong.
”It would appear that we are similar in that case, though I’ve been here on Earth for a few weeks now. This is actually my first time venturing into one of its cities,” Nai-Ran explained. ”I certainly agree with you on that one. Though, so far I’ve been mostly undisturbed. I’ve mostly stayed within the Diablo Desert up to this point since it reminds me so much of my home world. Everywhere else is just too chilly or too crowded.” Perhaps should simply be grateful for the few friend she had made on this planet so far. At least they didn’t all stare at her like some kind of sideshow attraction, just most of them.
It was then that she saw his face go all red before he suddenly dipped forward in a rather formal bow. It reminded her of the people that her father would often invite to the formal events that he was always so insistent on throwing. However, before she could return the introduction, he appeared to weaken and slumped against the light post behind him. ”Oh my, are you alright?” Nai-Ran moved closer to Emer and examined him closely. His eyes were focused on something that didn’t actually appear to be there unless the Ryashi was just blind and had missed it entirely. She then backed off a little bit as he shook his head, giving him a bit of space so that she didn’t crowd him.
”Are you in need of anything? I believe there’s still plenty of time before any of the shops around here close,” Nai-Ran offered before a thought struck her. She realized how polite he had been since she had yanked him out of the way of oncoming traffic. Was he the type to say no to something like that or feign ignorance in hopes of not being rude? If that was the case, perhaps she should clear that part up right away.
Nai-Ran leaned in a little bit just so that she could be heard clearly while still keeping her voice down. ”This is just between you and me. At the risk of sounding awkward and boastful, I’ve got money with me that I have no idea what to do with. If there was something I could get you then you would actually be doing me a bit of a favor. I’m not really sure if you’ve noticed, but the people who live here aren’t all that open to someone without legs wandering around like myself.”

As emer stood there for a moment, he noticed that she continued to speak to him nicely. Even questioning if he was alright. She moved in close to him, it was strange for a moment, he never had someone come that close to him. Well besides for when it came to fighting. Looking at her he smiled slightly. "Sorry to frighten ya... Those doctors must of done something with that needle.... And I guess I shouldn't be wearing weights just yet." As he said pulling at his outfit a bit. If she looked closely, she could tell that all of his outfit was modified to be heavier than normal clothing. Almost like you'd see on those that trained nearly every day.
Emer did notice she had declined his offer to carry the bags for her, but he noticed her set them down wrapping around them almost like she was a bit protective of her items. "But no, really I'm fine right now... Just had a little dizzy spell." Thinking back over the conversation they had just went through. They had been in the same situation, though the girl had arrived a few days before him. Which oddly didn't surprise him. But as she stated this was the first time in this city, he could spot why. Everyone was giving her looks like she had been straight out of a horror book. Leaning forward Emer reached up to scratch the back of his head slightly. Thinking of something to say had been a bit difficult.
The people passing by kept giving the odd looks, before one girl whispered to her friend. "That's disgusting... A half snake and the guy looks like he's been through a shredder." Suddenly something twisted in Emer a little bit. Turning his head to the two females talking they froze in place looking at the two of them. "Look, I don't care what you say to me, but until you get to know someone, you shouldn't call them disgusting on looks alone. Cause to me, you two look like you've been drugged through a pit full of shit. And then a wig put on ya." The two females froze wide eyed. Sort of angry, but with how Emer looked, the two of them just turned around and continued to walk.
Suddenly the snake woman spoke near his ear, or so it felt like with how soft her voice was. She was asking if he needed anything, at first Emer felt confused but just shook his head. "I don't re-" Before he could finish she spoke softly as if to clear up what she had just asked. Instead she mentioned how she had come in contact with a large sum of money recently. And wanted to know if there was anything she could get for him. Emer thought it over for a moment and shook his head before answering. "No thank you, I came to possess a nice amount of money myself." He said as he brought out a huge bag full of coins due to the tournament winnings.
Mumbling to himself again without thinking he stated "Though I do need to find someone to buy my contract at one point or another..." Turning back to the girl he decided that he had the time to continue the conversation with her. It was nice to just have someone like him around. It had been a while, and he didn't have anyone wishing to kill him. The smile on his face faded and his feature became serious, as he didn't have to apologize anymore. His voice was gone of all emotions from before. No joy or anything as he turned into the normal Emer. "Though, I do say I'm enjoying the conversation we're having. It's been a while since I've just sat down and talked to another."
This much was true for him at least. Though during the time in the army, he had lost all emotion besides for when he needed to be nice. Cause when you're just used as a thing to take bullets, or the damage for the saiyans you become a bit distant from everything. While he was thinking on all this however, he thought it was quiet rude to sound like his emotionless self without explaining it first. "I'm sorry, you don't really deserve to see this side of me. As it's the real side, when all you've done for me is be nice. But while being in the saiyans army, but when you destroy entire civilizations and other things... You lose any attachment to most things. But you learn how to put on a fake smile."
At least he had gotten that out, so the girl didn't feel as if she had done something wrong about asking him if he needed anything. "Though, I'm afraid I don't have long either for conversation, I still have my mission for this planet..." Ending his sentence there, the girl could come up with anything she wanted at that moment. Was he here to destroy the earth in the state he was? Was he here to establish a peace treaty for colonization that the saiyans where into? Who could know what this young man was thinking. One thing was for certain, he appeared to be starring directly into her soul at the moment. As his eyes didn't break contact with hers.

“It must be tragic to have an existence so dull that one must turn to mocking others for amusement. These are the people we need to feel sorry for,” Nai-Ran sighed and dropped her gaze to the ground. Saying such a thing was really more for herself than anything, but if Emer found her words encouraging at all, it was all the better. Back home, the few tourists that wandered their way into the Rujju Sands didn’t even think twice about the fact that she had the lower half of a serpent. They were on a whole planet filled with them! If the young woman ever decided to make another trip into civilization, she would definitely need to get some thicker skin.
The Ryashi perked her head up and straightened her posture. Emer had already given her his name. It would be rude to delay her own introduction any further. Her manners seem to have been slipping ever since she first landed here on Earth. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Emer. I am Nai-Ran of the Rassuto. However, I would prefer it if you simply called me Nai-Ran. Anything more than that is nothing more than a needless formality,” she introduced herself with a simple bow.
“I’m glad that you’re alright. Feel free to let me know if you change your mind about my offer.” Nai-Ran couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed that couldn’t put the rest of her earnings to good use. She supposed that stashing it away just in case she decided she needed more supplies somewhere down the line was always a wise option, but she didn’t really want to think about returning to this place at the moment. “I must say that I agree with you on the fact that you shouldn’t be wearing weights. It sounds like you should be trying to take it easy. During training, one of the first lessons I was ever taught was to know my limits. A body that is pushed to its breaking point time and time again while ignoring its needs will eventually cease to function.”
As they continued to speak, Nai-Ran could have sworn that she heard him say something about a contract. Though, he was awfully quiet about it and didn’t really say anything more on the subject. The young woman was debating on whether to ask about it or to keep her nose out of it when he mentioned something about the Saiyan army. Nai-Ran paused and looked at him closely. She had been running into the term ’Saiyan’ a lot lately. Was he one of them as well? Emer looked nothing like Ninjin or that rude fellow that she had run into in the Diablo Desert.
“I don’t know why you think the real side of you that you’ve been showing me is rude. However, I must address something. You say that you’re in the Saiyan army and that you destroy civilizations... Does that have anything to do with this mission of yours on Earth?” she asked in a sincere tone. Nai-Ran really wasn’t sure what she was expecting his answer to be. Sure, if someone had such a mission they likely wouldn’t just come out and say it just because somebody asked about it. Still, Emer had been kind so far. It was hard to imagine that he would have such intentions yet still take the time to converse with someone who would seemingly end up a victim of the whole thing. “Also, did you mention something about a contract just now? What was that all about? If you don’t mind me sticking my nose where it doesn’t belong, that is.”

(Before ya read, Purpler=Emer Red-orange= Alith And Gold= Both speaking together,)
Standing there for a moment, Emer looked at the girl confused, and finally busted out in laughter before clearing his throat a bit. "Damnit, I told you not to randomly take over my body... It's not nice." Suddenly the cold voice from before, though now as it spoke, Nai could point it out to be almost like a female voice. "Well, you where weak, and it's my job to keep the host alive. If you die, I die too... Irith explained this to you when you took my blessing..." Emer let a small growl come out of him. "Well yeah, but we also agreed not to use my body for anything other than when I activate the blessing. And now she's asking about a contract I didn't wanna bother her with."
To people passing by, they stood and stared at the man, as if he was a ventriloquist, and had been changing his voice for the act he was placing on. "Well, you should of told her in the first place, but you didn't want her to buy your contract. So what if she knows that you're a slave for hirer. If she buys it, she'll have a new person to help her out." A small growl emitted from the shared body at the moment. "Well, I don't want to bother someone that has no business in this matter. I'm looking for someone that could free me after all. It's not everyday, that you meet someone who's nice to ya. Especially with my past." Suddenly Emer's own hand slapped him as the female voice came back.
"Ya damn brat, I told ya to get over that shit. So what if you had been used as fodder, you survived and have gotten your chance to be free. Don't you think that you should tell this girl? And stop letting your crush get in the way, cause you think she's cute." Suddenly the anger popped back in, with the males voice. "Why you little bitch, you can't just give someones thoughts out like that. Now she'll probably think I'm a creep. And anyway, are you jealous, is that what I'm feeling right now?" The conversation to most had started to get funny up to this point. Some people covering their mouths trying not to laugh at what was going on.
"N...NO! I am not jealous... Just because you had that thought... I'm just..." Suddenly the male voice coming back over. "Ha, I knew it, you where jealous. Too bad for you, It's my body and I can do what I wish with it." Suddenly the female voice retaliated. "Well, as it is, I share a body with you right now, and I don't wish for those thoughts to be going into my head too!" The conversation was getting a bit more heated. "Well, you're the one that started this, by saying he's cute, oi that person cute and all. I thought it was my turn to tell ya someone was cute. So I didn't think I was going insane."
Suddenly both of the voices laughed at the same time. It was creepy and most people began to step away from the multiple voices. Suddenly they both turned to Nai, or at least in his head they had both turned. Now both voices spoke at the same time, creating a eerie overlap. "We're truly sorry for this. But No I wasn't sent here to destroy this planet. Instead we had been sent to gain our freedom. And well, it's become quiet a different expectation." Suddenly just the female voice could be heard. "Yes, this man got into a fight, with his conditions already recovering from last time. He knew he shouldn't have." Emer took control again this time. "Well Nai-Ran, I'm sorry for Aliths intrusion once more... She can be quiet... demanding at times. But I guess you've learned everything about me because of her just now...."

Nai-Ran’s eyes went wide as she witnessed the strange turn of events that was playing out before her. Was she going insane? If she wasn’t, then there was clearly a completely different voice suddenly coming out of Emer’s mouth all of a sudden, this one sounding a bit feminine. Normally her reaction would be to wave it off as her pointed ears playing tricks on her. However, that was kind of difficult to do when they appeared to be arguing with each other.
The Ryashi was a bit stunned as she tried to comprehend exactly what was going on here. Her state of mind made it difficult to follow the conversation Emer appeared to be having with himself. She managed to pick up something about them sharing the body and the fact that someone named Irith was involved. Nai-Ran recalled reading a tale or two when she was younger that involved two different souls inhabiting the same body. Could that be what was going on here? Those books had always portrayed that scenario to be nothing but pure fiction though... As much as she wanted to be skeptical, it was happening right in front of her as clear as day.
Nai-Ran timidly opened her mouth to speak, but they were still going back and forth. Something in the back of her mind was telling her not to listen since technically it could be thought of as eavesdropping. However, she couldn’t seem to tear herself away. It was then that the contract thing got brought up again. The female voice described Emer as a slave for hire. That’s what the contract had been about? The young woman would have never guessed that Emer was a slave. Then again, the slave trade had been outlawed on Appodorra centuries ago, so it’s likely that she had no idea what to look for.
Any questions she was trying to ask the tall man earlier were answered without either voice actually speaking to her. Though, there was one point that was tossed back and forth between the two of them that Nai-Ran couldn’t help but feel herself blush at. He thought she was... cute? That was a first... Sure, back home she had been complemented on her looks all of the time. That was always been from some important visitor and said in the presence of her father, though. Her thoughts on the matter were irrelevant though. It was something that she obviously wasn’t supposed to hear.
Shaking the thought from her mind, she listened as both of the voices began to speak to her in unison. It sounded sort of like how she did when she entered her Serpentine Fury transformation, though not nearly as threatening. They confirmed that Emer’s mission was not one of hostility, which was good. She didn’t want this little newfound friendship of theirs to end so abruptly, if he would even call it that. Either way, the arguing seemed to have ended for the moment. Now maybe she could make some sense of this.
”I... believe so,” Nai-Ran stated, still a bit confused by everything. ”Alith is what you called her, right? She inhabits the same body that you do and you two share your thoughts with each other? In that case, who is Irith?” She still felt kind of bad that he had essentially just unwillingly had all of his private thoughts spilled to her, but he was still there speaking with her. That was a plus, right?
”Back to this whole contract business... Alith said you were a slave, right? Does this contract of yours signify who... owns you?” Nai-Ran asked. She couldn’t believe she was even speaking like that, but she didn’t see any other terminology to use for his situation. ”How would you go about buying your freedom?”

Emer himself was a bit embarrassed, and slightly shy now because of what had just happened. His hand rubbing the back of his head before speaking to her. "Sorry that you got the weird treatment just now." When she asked a question about what Irith was. A small smile came on his face as he took her hand for a moment and lead her towards a store that he had been in earlier. In front of it stood a statue, that had been sold to vendor from him. Because it seemed to be made out of a strange clear crystal. The beauty and design of the piece hadn't just been that. Inside the clear class, the ruby eyes sat there. A small green dress flowed down the statue, as he pointed at it he spoke proudly.
"That is Irith, she's the goddess all Kagami pray to. And when you ask for her blessing, she places a guardian inside of you. My guardian just happened to be Alith the goddess of war. Irith decided this would be best for me, because I had been in the army for so long. And when I needed help she blessed me with Alith." He stated then letting go of her hand to motion to his own in front of his own body as an example. "As you can see, this is what had happened before she came alone. Now I hardly get a mark on me, unless I fight without being completely healed..." He started thinking about the woman from the other day and shivered slightly. She had been a small thing, then suddenly turned into a giant beast in front of him.
Snapping out of his thoughts he looked down at Nai and smiled. "As for my contract, I have to find someone to buy my contract from the saiyans alliance. And then after we receive the contract, they can either sign me off, and let me be free. Or they can hold onto my services for as long as they need. Once I'm either signed and released or decided to keep me, it'll take some time for the paperwork to be filed. So it's not an instantaneous solution." Stretching out his body a little bit. He could tell Alith had healed some of it with her power, he was somewhat grateful for that.
"So I guess you could say that when someone holds my contract, they are legal in charge of me, sort of like a adult or somewhere along those lines..." He said thinking a bit more carefully about it. Emer's body had recovered slightly now, and he enjoyed that. Removing the bandages form himself, and yes reaching under his shirt to do so, she could see the countless cars that had made a map along his body. Each one either larger or smaller than the one before. Never the same size, yet his entire body had been etched in them. His face had some scars along it as well. Reaching back, he pulled the cowl of his suit back up over his head, as to cover his hair.
"Sorry for bringing so much attention to you, though I will say... Humans disgust me to a point." He stated starring at them. "They remind me of the saiyans, constantly judging others that aren't like them. Shoot I bet if these two races meet face to face... They'd become best of friends, if they didn't try proving who was better." A funny thought came to his head as he laughed. "Tail or no tail... What is better..." Shaking his head slightly to get rid of the image, he remembered Nai speaking about something a bit further back. "By the way, you asked if me and Alith share thoughts? Well yes we do, though it's temporary she says. When I get strong enough to hold iriths power on my own. She'll be removed from me... It'll be boring without her, but she'll disappear." Emer didn't seem to upset by it when he stated that. "That's why she's been telling me to hurry up, cause she doesn't like me thinking things about women I see... And other things that guys tend to think about..."
That brought him to realize one thing, "And before you ask, yes. The goddess pairs us with the opposite sex, so we come to a complete understanding of how one side thinks. It's to help us better understand our brethren, to enlighten us... And hopefully never to create a world that isn't equal among each of us..." Thinking about it slightly he turned red a tad bit. "And yes, I did think you where cute when Alith revealed that to ya, that was my own thought and not hers." A small sheepish grin appeared on his face.

Emer reached out and grabbed Nai-Ran’s black glove clad hand. She quickly scooped up her bags with her tail as he began to lead her away. The young woman wanted to open her mouth to ask where they were going, but she figured the answer would come to her if she was patient. It obviously had something to do with one of the questions she had just asked.
The two of them came to a stop before a detailed crystal statue of a woman with a pair of bright red gems for eyes. Emer exuded a distinct feeling of pride in his voice as he explained to her that that the statue was a representation of Irith. ”Alright, I think I understand. This is the mother deity that your kind prays to, and in return she grants you a guardian chosen from a pantheon of other deities?” Nai-Ran asked in an attempt to clarify what she was hearing. The Ryashi didn’t have much experience with prayers or religion. She knew that there were a few regions of Appodorra that had adopted various religions, but it wasn’t a common thing in the Rujju Sands from which she hailed. Nai-Ran wasn’t a fan of relying on miracles to help her in her time of need, but if Irith could provide that much of an inspiration and even potentially save the lives of her followers as Emer explained, then she certainly wasn’t about to knock it.
Nai-Ran continued to listen to him speak about his contract and his distaste for humans. However, he quickly moved back to the war goddess that currently shared his body with him. ”I’ll take that as a complement.” The young woman couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle as he commented again that she was cute. ”It must be difficult at times to not have much in the way of privacy, but it must be nice at the same time to have someone to talk with who is watching over you like that. While you still have Alith with you, you might want to take advantage of the situation and follow her advice. It sounds like she has your well-being in mind when she gives it.”
”Going back to your feelings on humans, I suppose it all depends on your experience with them. I don’t plan on returning to any large population centers like this anytime soon. There are far too many people that stop to stare at you. They’re not too accepting of those who are different,” Nai-Ran spoke while glancing down at her tail. ”However, on the other hand, I’ve met other humans who have been rather warm and inviting. It may be difficult not to brand an entire species from just a couple of experiences. I admit that I’m not entirely innocent of that crime. But at the end of the day, I try to remember that they aren’t a hive mind.”
Now that Nai-Ran had spoken her mind on the subject, it was time to get down to what she believed to be the most important topic that had popped up during their conversation so far. When it came to the matter of Emer’s contract, the serpentine lass found herself in a bit of a conundrum. There was obviously a way to help this guy out here assuming that whatever leftover funds she carried with her was enough. However, in order to do so, she would technically have to buy a slave. He wouldn’t be a slave for long if she had her way, but what if word got back to Appodorra? The young woman wasn’t exactly sure how word would get back to her home planet, but the fact remained that participating in the slave trade was highly illegal back home.
Now that she thought about it, did it really matter if other Ryashi found out about this or not? If anything this would end up helping to combat the slave trade in her eyes. Besides, the whole point of her setting out on the Ritual of Discovery was the idea that it would help groom her to be a proper leader, was it not? A good leader knew when to bend the rules just enough to accomplish something for the greater good. They couldn’t see things in only black and white. On top of that, speaking of setting someone free who had been enslaved when her father eventually asked her of her exploits on Earth wouldn’t be so bad either. Would that at all influence her decision on the matter? Of course not. Her mind had already been made up at that point.
”Now, about that contract of yours,” she started off slowly, trying to find the right words. ”I would like to start off by saying that I’m most certainly interested. As I’ve already stated, I would rather not return to this place for quite some time, yet I still have leftover money from acquiring supplies. How much money is required for this, and who must I speak to?”

Emer stood there for a moment after explaining the carving to her. A soft sigh escaped his lips as he thought about the words to explain it to her. "The goddess blesses us with one of her warriors so to speak. Or with something that matches our personality. As for me the goddess of war was sent to me. Or Alith in this case, because like her I have thrown myself completely into just fighting and trying to live." He stated, thinking back to his time in the war he let a small growl escape his lips. Before he could say anymore, the girl had begun speaking about the humans. A small laugh escaped that sounded bitter. "Sorry, but I think I have to disagree. This pathetic planet allied with those saiyans... And continue to support them through trades..."
Suddenly as he thought for a moment a small smile came across his face. "Though, I suppose to start my revenge on the saiyans, I can destroy an important trade partner..." He was shook out of his thoughts when the girl mentioned the contract again, he let a small sneer come out of his mouth. "You don't want to do that, when you take the contract it's a bit more than you think... Should you take that, our blood will be mixed together to form final print. You'd have to cut both of our hands, and then place the mixed blood upon the contract, so it is finalized." He stated looking at her, his eyes seemed to be dead right now. To him, she was so focused on his contract.... She was just like the others, but taking a different approach to him... And it was seeming disgusting.
She could probably feel the look in his eyes now, as he regarded her in disgust now, not because of appearance, but the way she had continued on about the contract. "If you're interested go to capsule corps..." Turning away slightly the male began to grumble to himself. Why was it, that when he finally meet someone that had been so interested in his race, and been so nice. Suddenly just wanted to know about the contract, and where to purchase it. He stopped for a moment and looked over his shoulder at the girl. "My life, is only valued at twenty five hundred zeni." His look at that moment was just dead. No emotion seemed to seep out of the man.
Taking a few more steps, he decided he was going to head to capsule corps. As they held onto all the contracts that went through. They had own most of the city, from what he was told, and any important paperwork was to be kept there. He might as well go and take a look at the paperwork himself, if he could he'd buy it himself, but they would not allow that. As much as it irked him, he would have to find someone to buy his contract anyhow. So why not this female... At least he'd be able to choose who to hold his contract. "Follow me, if you wish to make this purchase... I'm heading there now.." The bandages on his body had slowly been turning a red, as he was overexerting his body at the moment.
His wounds not completely healed, where reopening slightly, and making the bandages dirty. But to the Kagami it hardly mattered, he was full of scars, so who cared if these things healed properly? It would just be another sketch on the map of his body. Another one to mark who he was, and he had almost forgotten that when talking to this girl. His voice low and hard to hear, "What was I thinking, I am and always will be a warrior, I have no right to look towards freedom... I'll kill every last one of those saiyans... I owe my people that much... That's what i've been raised as... A killer and a soldier nothing more... And I'll show them the monster they created..." His hand clenched into fist, causing his fingernails to be driven into his flesh through the glove he wore.

”I’m aware that I don’t know anything about Earth’s political situation. However, what I do know is that there are always reasons why leaders make their decisions, and there’s no such thing as a reasonable solution that makes everyone happy. Whoever made the decision to begin trading with the Saiyans is a person just like everyone else around them. There’s no set ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ when it comes to decisions like that. Instead it’s either make Group A unhappy, or Group B,” Nai-Ran sighed as she followed Emer.
What was good and bad wasn’t set in stone. Life simply wasn’t that simple. Here Nai-Ran was trying to set a man free, but was buying a slave in the process. She didn’t like the words that were coming out of his mouth in the slightest, but that didn’t mean anyone should have ever been owned by another. Even if she was saddened by how he looked at the world around him, it wasn’t going to make her change her mind. Still, she might have to keep an eye on him regardless. If her actions were to lead to some horrible disaster that would befall this planet, she would take responsibility for it. All she could do right now was hope it didn’t come to that. She had the 2,500 Zeni that he had spoken of. That was the end of it.
”No need to worry about that. I’m not squeamish at the sight of blood. Are you sure you’re going to be alright with it though? I think your wounds might have reopened,” Nai-Ran commented as she looked at his bloodied bandages with concern. He was trying to push himself again. Hopefully Arith was giving him a talking to about it, if that’s even how that worked. She knew that the goddess had the ability to take control of Emer’s body, but she was still a bit unsure of the finer details. ”Try to take it easy when we get there, okay?”
Any politeness Emer had shown her before had apparently vanished into thin air. There was no more kindness in the way that he spoke to her. Did this contract of his bring up some painful memories? The fact that what skin of his she could see was completely covered in scars and the fact that he was missing an arm had told her enough. There was no questioning that the young woman had led a privileged life so far. Nai-Ran wasn’t even going to try to pretend to act like knew what he had been through. To do so would undoubtedly be a huge insult.
As they continued on, the Ryashi heard the tall man mumble something under his breath ahead of her. Her pointed ear strained to pick up on what it was, but it was difficult to make out the words. Like the rest of what Emer had said ever since the mood had plummeted like that, it didn’t sound happy at all. ”You don’t have to answer me if you don’t want to, but I’m curious. What is it that you want out of life?”

Emer listened to the woman as she spoke, about how to make on group, or another unhappy. That words rang with a truth to them, though in his head, Alith had been raising all kinds of cane, about how rude he was being. But the goddess just couldn't get through to him. In fact it seemed that she had given up, that unearthly feel about him was lower than ever before. The blessing was weaker than it had been a while ago, and Alith couldn't make any progress into the mans thought. When he was like this, his own religion was blocked out, and he cared not for whatever goddess it had been he'd pray to. Though the woman continued on that she hadn't been afraid of blood it made him smile slightly.
"I wouldn't be afraid of just the blood, it's combining them together, it's sort of like a seal of fate. We'd place our fingers together smearing the blood, and then you'd stamp it with the finger you cut." As he was walking, he heard her mention about not pushing himself. Though he had little thought about it as of this moment, he stopped for a moment. In front of him stood two giant doors. And a building that raised above all others, it almost seemed to sway in the wind from it's height. "I wouldn't worry about my body so much... It's used to this.." He said turning around and simply removing the cowl, that showed her his entire body. The scars on it ran like roads.
Each one was a different size and length, they crossed one another, some was wider, and some had been smaller never where there two of the same size. "My body, is a map of the battles and the comrades I have lost... Those marks, will always remain, and tell my story, when I cannot." He stated before pulling his cowl back over his body, donning the hood on top of his head. He started inside thinking to himself, 'I'm not sure why she's making me feel different than those I've encountered before... I mean she's being kind, but at the same time she still wants to know of the contract... I'm confused beyond reason...' Suddenly a question came from her that he didn't understand.
No more like he hadn't thought about, what was it he wished out of life? Why was he still fighting and why was he going? He thought for a moment, and the same answer he has always stated came out of his mouth. "What life... I live to fight and kill... And when I gain my freedom, I'll still be fighting and killing to protect it... I'll have to continue fighting to earn my peoples freedom... That is my want, that is the only meaning to my life." He said turning towards her, his eyes filled with sorrow and hurt. But at the same time they showed the truth behind his words, that would be what his life becomes. It wouldn't change, he would still be fighting even in the future. Suddenly a voice came out from behind a counter, it was a young female worker. "Hello, how may I help you?"

”Oh? Is there any particular sensation that I should prepare myself for when combining our blood?” Nai-Ran asked as they entered the building. It seemed like kind of a strange question to be asking in all honesty. Was some sort of magic to take place when this happened, or was it more of a formality than anything else? As much as she didn’t want to sound like a broken record, why did everything about the slave trade have to be so barbaric? At least, everything that she had heard so far made it sound that way.
”Used to it or not, it’s still something you should be conscious about,” the serpentine lass chided him slightly, observing as he pulled back his cowl once more. ”There’s certainly no shame in remembering your allies and past fights, but that doesn’t mean you have to treat your body so poorly, does it?” Why did these warrior types always have to be so stubborn about this particular subject? Having so many open wounds on one’s body meant that it was time to rest.
Nai-Ran was about to comment on Emer’s answer to her question, but before she could the voice of a young woman was heard from behind the counter. The Ryashi smiled to the tall man before slithering up to the counter and placing her bags in a heap next to her. ”Ah! Hello there. I’m here to inquire about and purchase a contract. Do you have a contract for someone named ‘Emer’ on file here? I believe that the current holder is the Saiyans Alliance,” Nai-Ran spoke politely.
"Eek! U-Um... I’ll go take a look." The worker was definitely shocked at the serpentine lass’s appearance; it was rather apparent in her face and tone of voice. However, at least she seemed cooperative as she shuffled off into the back room. Nai-Ran would assume that they had plenty of off-worlders popping into the building since they dealt with paperwork from other races. Once again, it would appear that the races they normally dealt with had a specific feature that she lacked. Legs.
As she waited for the worker to return, a thought popped into the young woman’s head. While she had thought about it a lot, had she ever actually mentioned what she intended to do with Emer’s contract? She didn’t recall that she had. Perhaps that was why the man was in such a sour mood. Maybe she would surprise him with it. All she had to do now was make sure that setting him free was as simple as she thought. ”So... Once I’ve bought your contract, I can do whatever I want with you? Are there any limits?”
