In all of his years on Earth, Sorrel found the education system to be one of its most interesting aspects. Kindergarten, middle school, high school, and anything beyond was considered higher education! On Vegeta, you went through Beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels of training in combat and you were ready for the universe. It was like Earthlings were so dedicated to being intellectuals, even though he could count with one hand the number of inspiring conversations he held with an Earthling.
Yet there he was, floating ever-so curiously above a school for one of the aforementioned levels of education. He had to admit, the presentation itself was fairly nice. Still, he was not entirely convinced of the functionality. His body dropped in altitude fairly quickly, choosing to land on the roof of the building. With a quick expenditure of his ki, his usual bodysuit was replaced with a copy of the uniform he had seen the other students donning. Saiyans took awhile to catch up to humans in age, so he could probably still pass for a high-school senior. Sorrel rolled a shoulder in the uncomfortable outfit, and he immediately understood that they were meant to strip away freedom.
"Welp," he sighed. "Here goes nothin'!"
He walked to the roof entrance and turned the handle, only to find it wouldn't budge. He was locked on the roof. Sure, he could have safely landed at ground level and entered through the front. But what if there was some security check? He sighed, realizing his approach wasn't too well thought out.

HW PL = 825, Thread PL: 1,100
A young girl was walking through the school hallways, bright green eyes taking in the world around her and ears taking in the sounds of the rather noisy school. School had yet to start but the hybrid was waiting for the bell to ring; signaling the start of another day at Orange Star High. Life was quite simple for the demon hybrid, uncomplicated by fighting or rivals; as she preferred not to cause disruptions.
However, a ki on the roof caught her attention, to which the halfling wanted to look for the ki. School wasn't starting for another ten minutes; allowing the girl to find the source of the Saiyan ki if she hurried. Tekuma was having doubts, however, as the Saiyan Invasion to this day still rung in her memories. Her grandmother had died that day, and her death still struck the students heart with grief.
The demoness hadn't noticed in her wandering thoughts that she had been taking the school's rooftop exit to find the ki in her curious subconscious. Still clutching the books in her arms, Tekuma used her tail to open the door and see the person she'd been curious to find. ....? What's a student doing up here? "Hello, what are you doing up on the roof? School is going to be starting soon, don't you have your books ready?"

The scent of human and something less savory filled the air, and Sorrel began wondering if this school retained more than Earthlings. The door would open, and his savior greeted him with preoccupied arms. His eyes looked to the books in her hand. They then moved up towards her face. They moved back to the books in her hands. Then to the tail that apparently drew the door for her. Things made a bit more sense, but he still offered a confused headtilt.
"Ah? Guess I needed to clear my head?" It was difficult to lie about things that one never did, but Sorrel often found himself gravitating towards the zenith of a structure when he needed to straighten out his mind. As a result, he sounded as genuine as any other airheaded student. He shrugged, letting himself into the bulkhead while closing the door behind him. This might have put the issue of discomfort into her mind, a cultural aspect he was well aware of, but he was annoying like that.
"Oh, those? They're so heavy, man! It's like they expect us to drag them around in a bag or somethin'...," he began in a rather lax tone. If there was any role Sorrel was good at, it was the deadbeat. "Wait, what are you doin' here if yer so concerned that school's startin' soon?"
His head tilted to the other side. Did this one have more capability than she liked to lead on? Well, it would certainly explain the stench of demon. A stench that he shared.

As Sorrel spoke; Tekuma sensed an air of a different ki around the other being. It somewhat surprised her that a Saiyan/Demon hybrid was standing before her, leaving the girl slightly confused as to who his heritage was from. The aura of discomfort coming from Sorrel didn't help the fact she didn't trust Saiyans very well, and she kept w close eye on him. Unless he proved himself to be good, she did not want to trust the male hybrid.
He spoke of the books being too heavy; to which the girl tilted her head and waited for him to finish speaking. She was slightly amused as he asked why she was on the roof as well if school was starting soon; to which she replied evenly. "You know, I could ask you the same thing. You should know when school starts, don't you come here? Or are you some exchange student?"

"What are you, student police?" He sighed. The argument would go in circles at this point if he didn't do something to veer it out of the culdesac. Sorrel attempted to brush past the girl, but not with a lot of force. He wanted to be rude, not evil. He would make his way about halfway down the steps if allowed, only to turn around and give the girl another confused tilt of the head. He awkwardly raised a hand to gently scratch his cheek.
"I, uh... Dunno where my first class is." He closed an eye, mimicking the expression of someone ready to face the consequences of a terrible mistake. He had read enough graphic novels in his time on Earth to expect some tsundere beating for his apparent lack of care and disregard of the education system.

Tekuma watched as Sorrel attempted to brush past her; unless he could move her while she was wearing her heavy weights. The girl was faintly surprised at how rude he was, faintly annoyed at his behavior. The conversation had gone downhill slightly, tail twitching slightly in a lightly irked manner.
"Hey, why were you so rude all of the sudden? Was it something I said?" The halfling asked; curious still as she turned to follow Sorrel down the stairs from the rooftop opening, careful to use her tail as a key and relock the door.

He arched a brow, though he didn't turn around to face the girl. A smirk soon formed as Sorrel found her reaction to be rather interesting. Demons normally responded to aggression with more aggression. Her submissive response seemed sincere, so perhaps it was her human blood that governed? Well, he would just have to continue observing.
"You still on that? I'unno," he shrugged in a manner so dramatic it was as if he sarcastically muttered the gesture. "Maybe I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Then again, maybe I don't like being nagged at by somebody whose name I'un even know."

Tekuma walked behind Sorrel with her arms still around her books, tail hanging behind her as the young demoness walked. Her human blood gave her the patience and calm to not lash out at Sorrel; keeping a calm mind would be incredibly useful in tense situations as her father said.
The other hybrid was being dramatic and faintly rude; something the girl didn't like yet didn't bother getting worked up over as it would be without positive fruit. "You do know that drama isn't of much use, correct? It is something that bears negative fruit. And as for my name, it is Tekuma Mayakon. Might I ask yours, then?"

Oh, she was definitely more human than demon. Or she was less rowdy because she was preoccupied with a curiosity like his. After all, his own interest in knowledge essentially neutered the aggression in his genes. Regardless of the rational, it seemed he had his "tour guide" in this strange, new world. He hoped so, at least. It would have been annoying to have the tedious plan yield no fruit.
"Sorrel will do just fine. So, Tekuma, you gonna lead the way to class? I swear we'll be late if I'm the one navigating."

Tekuma scratched the back of her head, holding the books tightly in one arm. In her opinion, the heavy weights her father made her wear annoyed her terribly, and felt itchy. Not wishing to let Sorrel know, the young hybrid decided to take the lead as he suggested. "Alright then, follow me. Our first class is Biology, and we are having a test today, I think."
Tekuma was merely teasing with the test, as they had just had one yesterday. The amusement in her tone was subtle, faint as well. The demoness walked forward, down the stairs and taking a sharp right. She easily weaved through the crowds, even in the uniform she moved fluidly. Every now and then, she'd pause and wait for Sorrel to catch up.

Finally, no disagreement or questioning. Sorrel clasped his hands together in front of him. He then brought them behind his head to support it, taking a much more leisurely pace as he allowed the girl to pass him. That was until her words dug into him like daggers, causing him to wince. Although he had already spent his second year on Earth educating himself to what was deemed the international standard for sufficient knowledge, a GED, he still detested the idea of examinations. Whether you were a genius, or not so lucky, tests weren't a fun time. He had gotten so wrapped up in the thought that he couldn't detect her humor.
"Ah, shit," he muttered aloud. Sorrel had to speed up his walking pace upon realizing he was falling behind, thought that wasn't much of an exertion. His eyes couldn't help but trail down to her hindquarters. No, not because he was a pervert! He was, but this was curiosity towards the appendage that she seemed to utilize so carefreely. Now that he thought about it, it was kind of odd that Saiyans were considered more of a problem species that demons. He didn't disagree, nor did he undermind the history of the two worlds, but the Earthlings had tales of demonic malice that dated back since time immemorial. He would have chuckled at the thought if it didn't mean spoiling his act.
"Really, though. We just gonna ignore the elephant in the room? There's some more to your recipe than sugar, spice, and everything nice, isn't there?"

Tekuma turned back towards him, suppressing small yet still audible giggles. Sorrel had actually fallen for her trick, something very amusing to the demoness. "You do know I was kidding, right?" The girl tried to brush off the question, unsure as to what answer he sook.
The clarity of the question was vague, the hybrid needing to ask what she said next. "I see no quadruped mammal in the vicinity, can you clarify exactly what you meant by that question?" The hybridess was rather clever when it came down to it, her first comment slightly sarcastic on purpose.

He winced again. This girl, whose intelligence he had been questioning, pulled one over on him. It was a defeat that he took to heart, but wouldn't show. Not intentionally, at least. He couldn't stop his lips from settling into downward curve indicative of his dissatisfaction.
"Not like it would've made any difference," chided the young Saiyan in an attempt to maintain his own dignity. He tilted his head in confusion upon hearing the girl's response to his question. He even tried to use human euphemisms and idioms, how could she not understand? Or were his words too outdated for the younger Earthlings? He sighed, shrugging mentally as he settled into the mindset of taking a bolder approach. He would irk the darkness within him using his ki, somewhat like prodding an animal in its cage. An ominous energy would fluctuate from his presence momentarily before dying back down. It was a message to Sorrel, "Leave me alone, asshole."
"You don't smell too different from me. Well, you smell more human than anything, but that ain't all there is to you, is there? Ah, whatever. At least it means I won't stick out like a sore thumb."

"Oh, you're asking about my race. Well I think you'd be able to figure that out considering you're also half of what I am, of which I am also half." Looking to the clock, she turned and proceeded once again through the halls towards the biology classroom. It took her a moment to contemplate what he said, freezing outside the classroom door.
"You an exchange student then? There's Saiyans here too. I had a substitute biology teacher who was sentient seaweed and pregnant, her husband was a rather.. Rude hybrid who had a transformation that gave me the WORST headache, mind you."
"You should know if you'd stick out here, if anything I would stick out the most. I'm pale, unnatural red hair, bright green eyes and the fact I have these-" The hybrid took a minute to gesture to her demonic appendages, before continuing. "Would make me an easy target for bullies. Now come on, let's go into class." And with that, she turned and walked into the classroom.

"Half? My dear, I am not demonspawn, I am a demon host. Negligible difference to the senses and religious zealots, I know. But it means a lot to me!" Sorrel made sure to follow up with a haughty chuckle, as he was not on good terms with his demonic side. Ironically, those were probably the most sincere words uttered by him since the two began conversing. He shook his head in contempt as the memories regarding his corruption began to flood his mind. Oddly enough, Tekuma's banter about her struggles kept him from a chain of unpleasant memories. He would've audibly thanked her if he wasn't concerned about looking insane.
Sorrel had to admit, though. She was correct about her appearance. The horns, the tail. The hair and eyes were probably the most normal thing about her, given the recent fashion trends of dye and circle lenses. Her being savvy to his heritage as a Saiyan was a bit frustrating. Then again, he only concealed it in fear of rejection and the girl clearly wasn't rejecting him for it. He didn't know whether to be happy that he didn't have to exert so much effort into being secretive or angry over how much thought he wasted on the matter.
"You shouldn't really have any problems with bullies. You're--," he called out before finding himself alone in the hallway. Well, shucks. He was just about to compliment her, too! Ah, well. The ship sailed, and he would step meticulously into the classroom while immediately making his way to the back. He didn't want the instructor's attention bearing down on him until he had to further explain his presence.
But then he remembered that the only person he knew was the half-demon, so his eyes began moving around the room. Given the diversity of the students, it was surprisingly hard to immediately spot her.
