The city square hummed with it's usual noon liveliness, a thick background murmur of voices and city-scape ambiance hanging over all goings-on in a sort of comforting chaos. All things were as normal save for one small new detail. A new vendor had silently moved in, with a moderately sized cart, a steady steam and aroma of vegetables and chow mein drifting through the air, earning a few curious glances at the red-clad fox behind the counter who was working at a steady rhythm. The Energetic cook had a number of things being pre-cooked at once, noodles and cabbage boiling, and at the moment he was busy dicing a carrot. There were six empty stools set up before the cart, and though he was noticed nobody seemed to approach to order any food as of yet. Arching over the cart's length was a sign held up by wooden beams, one of which looked newer than the other, and between them fastened at their upper ends was a wooden cutout of a bowl of noodles, over which was written "Mr. K, Itadakimasu!" in bold red Japanese calligraphy style letters. It all seemed inviting enough, and the zoanthrope cooking clearly seemed like he was enjoying himself as he bounced behind the stove, as if dancing to an unheard song.
Surely nobody would let fresh cooked food go to waste?

On the outskirts of Satan City, high in the sky, a man-shaped shadow skirted across the large, white fluffy clouds like a dolphin in the water. This shadow belonged to none other than Kale, the Saiyan who had been calling the Earth home for a year now. A wide smile was spread across his face due to a multitude of factors. One such factor was the thrill of flying high in the sky. He had no idea why, but taking flight and watching the world below was a favored activity that Kale enjoyed very much. Wind was billowing through his hair and ruffling his clothes while the air cooled his body.
About an hour ago, the young man had finished up a sparring match with his father. Of course, the fight resulted in Kale having a massive appetite. But what else is new? It also didn't help that even thinking about food made Kale crave it even more. After flying for a few minutes, Kale was approaching Satan City. As Kale looked down upon the bustling settlement, he proceeded to lower himself toward the ground. "Hm." Kale thought aloud. "Maybe I can find some good food down there!"
Just as those words passed his lips, he could smell what was unmistakably chow mein and vegetables. This caused him to smile even brighter than before. "Oh man, that smells amazing!" It was settled. Kale landed gently on a sidewalk, connecting his feet softly on the ground. Nobody seemed to pay him any mind, which seemed a bit weird. But, there were a few passerby who had noticed his tail, who instantly recognized what he was. As Kale noted how some of the pedestrians reacted to seeing him, he instantly realized that his tail was going to essentially act like a big neon sign that would grab everyone's attention. "Uh-oh...That's right. Well, maybe if I just wrap it around my waist, people will think it's just a belt!"
And wrap his tail he did. The simian tail tied itself around the Saiyan's waist, resting against the black belt that he wore over his gi. Now that that minute detail was taken care of, Kale commenced his journey to track down the location of the wonderful food that he caught wind of.

Kurri's cart wouldn't be too hard to locate, the thick aroma of food gaining an ever-growing spicy nip that tickled one's nose as they drew nearer. Soft scrapes and dings sounding from various utensils as the fox kept busy, having served at least a couple of people by now, but around the time the Saiyan would turn up, his stand would be once again unoccupied. With so little business, food production slowed considerably, leaving the zoanthrope with little to do. Likely as soon as Kale found him he'd be idly twirling a pair of tongs around his finger, looped through the ring used to hang them by, looking disappointed, if not just bored. Kurri had never set up in this part of the city before, so he figured it would take some warming up to, and no doubt he'd probably have competition, but it didn't bother him too much. Wind swept gently over the area, causing his bangs to drift about and lightly flutter in and out of his hood while he stood quietly in thought, sunlight glinting gently off of his tongs every so often at certain angles as they spun around. His attention slowly drifted into the distance, free hand on his hip and gaze skyward; he hadn't had such a slow day in a long time...

Before long, Kale could see a lone food cart situated on the sidewalk that he was traversing along. His eyes lit up with glee, now, with the fragrance being much stronger now. Standing at the cart was the mustard-colored fox Zoanthrope, who seemed to look very, very bored. Kale could take a guess as to why. The cart itself had no business right now! But hat was all about to change.
The Saiyan happily strolled right up to the food cart with a wide smile planted across his face. He was a friendly sort, always looking to meet new people and experience new things. His eyes trailed up to the sign for a moment, where he admired the style of the lettering as well as the name. Kale quickly returned his attention to the fox. It was time to get some food in his poor stomach.
In anticipation of the potentially wonderful food, Kale's stomach groaned loudly. This happened rather than Kale getting a chance to say hello. "Hehe...Uh, sorry." Kale spoke in a tone that could be described as a tad sheepish. "I'm pretty hungry. I smelled your-" Another rumble from his bowls. This caused him to become a bit embarrassed. But, Kale shook it off with a friendly chuckle. "Ah, as I was saying. I smelled your food, and I wanted to give it a try. What's the biggest entree you offer?"

One fault in Sorrel's lifestyle was a tendency to forget how to take care of himself. He normally got so wrapped up in his pursuit of knowledge and women, that he casually skipped one or two meals before realizing he was on the verge of starvation. This day was no different. Sorrel had forgotten to eat supper while partying the night before, and had no appetite from the hangover that he woke up with. It wasn't until noon came by that his body gave him physical warnings of his fasting.
Thankfully, it wasn't very hard to find food on Earth. It was as easy as stepping into the center of any city and following the scent from there, so he did. In all of his time on Earth, one of the things that ceaselessly amazed the Saiyan was its variety and abundance of delicacies. Sure, the variety and abundance of Earthlings and extraterrestrials was also impressive. But if there was a way to consume an item, these Earthlings had found it, reinvented it, and remixed it in more ways than another species could fathom.
"Ah?" His nose had lead him to a cart, run by some foxy fellow of the literal variety. The clashing of metal, the dancing movement. This person's passion was sincere, and Sorrel found passion to be the best seasoning for any delicacy. He dragged himself up to the counter, dropping on it as if he were on the verge of death. Yes, he was being dramatic. But, honestly, he felt as hungry as he made himself look!
"...Oi, oi! I'll take the cheapest thing on the menu, Mister Fox!"
He had money, but he tried to be miserly to ensure he had enough funds left over for travel at any moment. It was then that he took notice to the other patron. His eyes quickly skimmed the fellow, and Sorrel came to the conclusion that he was at least Saiyan in heritage. If he gave a look at Sorrel, he would probably come to the same conclusion based on their matching "belts." He would not say anything, though. Clearly the man was here for food, and was not inviting any inquiry on his ancestry.

There was a momentary pause between the arrival of the two newest customers and Kurri's attention seeming to snap back into place as not one but two Saiyans made their way one after another to his cart, glancing down at the one crawling up from below as they came to a rest on the bar, which shifted the enter cart slightly, causing all assortment of hanging pans and utensils to chime off of one another. Immediately he caught his tongs he'd been spinning and resumed his smile, his eyes moving up to Kale in turn as each of them ordered from opposite sides of the menu. "My biggest dish is the Sumo Plate, I'll fire one up for you." he said with a soft energy of happiness, the smile on his face brightening. "And one Chow Mein for the dying man." he mentioned with a chuckle. He quietly observed the two from behind his hard-to-guess gaze while he worked, rice cooker set into full swing again and fresh noodles being tossed into the pot all while he looked over the two strangers, spotting Kale's tail first; his father had always 'worn' his tail in the same fashion.
It wasn't more than a few minutes of work as the fox began putting together the first bowl of Chow Mein, fried and oiled noodles in, followed by little carrot slices, green and red onion slices, chopped up boiled cabbage and lastly the tiniest dash of spicy powder. The piping hot dish was then handed over to Sorrel, placed down on the bar in front of him as Kurri let out a short pleased hum. "There's a fresh one for you, and I'll get your Sumo Plate up soon!" he said looking from Sorrel to Kale as he resumed that little shuffling dance behind the counter, slipping a wok down from his assortment of cooking wares as he slipped his skillet up to a different burner on the stove. "It'll take a few minutes to get your rice fried up, but I don't suppose you wanna chat." he started, pouring some canola oil in and rocking it around in the wok over the flames, letting it sit as he crouched down behind the cart to get into the little cooler, pulling out some rice already prepped from today, and emptying it into the wok to be fried, all the while transferring the rice he'd been cooking into the now empty container to be cooled for making any more fried rice when needed. "I didn't think I'd be serving Saiyans today." he mentioned with a smirk, hands working on their own as he stirred the rice before ducking into his cooler again, getting two eggs out to be beaten.
The zoanthrope seemed to work without a hitch, and the food being prepared was working up all manner of lovely smells and sounds, especially the satisfactory hiss of freshly beaten eggs hitting a sizzling wok and being joined by more chopped up green onion. "I haven't seen one since I said goodbye to my father." he finished, on a curious note.

A soft look of concern plastered itself onto Kale's face when the Fox Zoanthrope had deduced what exactly he was. "Oh," he spoke now looking down to his tail, "guess this tail is too obvious for my own good." Kale returned his gaze back to the cook that was preparing his meal. It had just now hit him that the Fox was acting rather casually about his own heritage. To say that Kale was happy that a stranger just accepted him outright would be a major understatement. Kale's expression now showed a relaxed smile.
It was when Kurri mentioned about having a Saiyan as a father that Kale understood the lack of nervousness in the Zoanthrope's demeanor. "Wait. Saiyans? As in, plural?" he peered over to the man who looked like he was about to die of starvation. Lo an behold, a brown monkey tail was situated around Sorrel's waist in the same fashion that kale kept his own. "Well what do you know? Looks like I'm not alone on this planet, after all!" Kale passed with glee in his voice.
"I can't tell you how relieved I am!" The Saiyan spoke to the new acquaintances. "I've only been living on Earth for a year, now. But it's a good change of pace to not have to worry about freaking people out when they do know what I am." A soft smile remained at Kale's lips. "Well," he continued as he turned his attention back to Kurri, "since you do know my heritage, then you know I have a pretty big appetite." the Saiyan happily plopped his rear down onto the wooden stool. He placed his feet against one of the bars on the seat, placed there for such a purpose, and leaned forward gently on the cart's tabletop with his elbows. "My name's Kale, by the way. And who might you two be?"

Kale was not the only one concerned, but Sorrel merely tilted his head to express his curiosity. Confusion was probably the only thing his body was immediately sincere about. That, and hunger based on the guttural roll that could be heard from his stomach. He decided to set his concern aside as he almost literally vacuumed the chow mein from the dish. He normally would have shown some etiquette by at least waiting for the other Saiyan to get his meal, but Sorrel was in no condition to be generous. He raised his head, ready to embrace the topic of his heritage now that he could form thoughts now that his mind wasn't screaming "You need food!" repeatedly.
"Go figure," he murmured with the lightest hint of sarcasm. His lack of enthusiasm in finding others of his kind was entirely owed to his history with his parents and brother, but he decided that it wasn't proper to project those feelings onto these social strangers. Besides, he was completely thrown by the Zoan's Saiyan blood. Sure enough, the smell of Kurri's ki confirmed it. Now that he knew at least one other Saiyan enjoyed the company of a Zoan, he would be more open-minded. As for Kale, Sorrel was aware enough to figure he wasn't active in the Solar Saiyan Empire if he had been on Earth so long, which made Sorrel less anxious about the encounter.
"Mm? Name's Sorrel. I've been floating around Earth for about three years now." He wouldn't say anything further. No need to elaborate on the family that he no longer considered family, or the strange terms of his 'sick leave' from the Solar Saiyan Empire. Instead, he would follow the pace of these interesting individuals.
"...And I could go for another one of these Chow Meins!"

The amount of food being readied only seemed to increase as the zoanthrope retrieved a number of gyoza from the cooler, sending the dumplings to a quick trip on the skillet to be fried before resuming stirring the rice, making sure all the egg got nice and separated and cooked, getting little tasty yellow chunks mixed in with the rice as more little chunks of carrot and peas were added to the wok. Boy oh boy did those smells get busy, and all the while he took in what the two Saiyans had to say as he kept food coming. "I wouldn't be too worried about seeming obvious, I'm just nosy." he replied to Kale's concerns, a thin grin stretching over his face for a moment as he turned this way and that, hands constantly shifting to work with the various items covering all of his stove and counter space. "I was born here myself, and my name's Kurri. Most of my customers just call me Mr. K." he replied, cheeks rising in a pleasant smile before relaxing to a more casual position. As he pulled the wok up from the flames slightly he shifted its contents around, starting to rock the whole thing around as rice jumped up in little waves, folding it over itself several times like this before he set the wok down again, turning his burner down to low as he quickly moved to retrieve the gyoza from the skillet.
It was about then that he looked over to Sorrel who's bowl was unsurprisingly empty, regarding him with a soft laugh as he threw a fresh batch of noodles into the boiling pot "Sure thing, both your dishes will be ready at about the same time." he stated with a relative glee. He really seemed to enjoy cooking, and it wasn't long before he was putting together the massive assortment of food Kale had ordered, filling a huge bowl with the entirety of the fried rice he'd been making, lining the rim of the bowl with ten fried gyoza, and as soon as the noodles were ready he oiled his skillet again, tossing them in to fry. " It's nice meeting both of you." the fox mentioned, going quiet for a few minutes as he finished frying everyone's noodles, and like an assembly line of fine cuisine his hands moved between dressings in perfect order. The bowl of Chow Mein came together quickly with one half of the noodles hitting a bowl, veggies mixed in, and that usual spicy powder pinched over the completed dish, while the other half of the noodles went straight to Kale's order, set atop the fried rice and dumplings, garnished with more carrots, boiled cabbage and green union slices, given the same spicy powder and topped with a few thick chunks of shitake mushroom, handing over the massive Sumo Plate to Kale in one hand, and the second chow mein to Sorrel in the other. "Enjoy!"

The celestial assortment of aromas wafted into Kale's nostrils. He inhaled, sucking them into his lungs. The sweet scents almost put the Saiyan into a trance. As the golden Zoanthrope placed the large, aptly named Sumo Plate in front of the starving Saiyan, Kale's eyes lit up with joy. He took a moment to admire every minute detail of the entree that Kurri supplied for him. No matter what the price was going to be for this delicious dish, Kale did not have a care. This potpourri that could appease the gods was going to be worth every single zenni. He just prayed that he had enough in his pockets!
Once Kale was finished with marveling at the Sumo Plate, he reached for one of the pairs of wooden chopsticks with his right gloved hand. They were conveniently located in the ceramic cup placed at the age of the cart. First, the Saiyan pinched at the red paper sleeve's end that covered the chopsticks with his left index finger and thumb. Upon removing the decorative sleeve, Kale gently unsheathed the wooden sticks were contained within, and placed it down onto the tabletop. Kale thus clasped his hands together with his chopsticks betwixt them. "Okay, it's time to eat! Itadakimasu!" While the Saiyan was only on the planet for a year, he ensured to learn the local area's customs. Continuing to look down at his large plate of food, Kale could only stare at it in honest-to-goodness excitement. He wasn't sure what part he would enjoy the most, but it all looked so tantalizing!
A collection of drool pooled inside of Kale's hungry mouth. The Saiyan gulped it down, and split the connected bamboo sticks down the middle with great precision. With all of the strength that Kale held within, it was a testament to his training to know how to show great control. "It's a pleasure to meet you both!" Kale stated to the others who had Saiyan blood like he did. He did not want to delay any further out of fear for his piping hot plate of cuisine to go cold. Normally, as a Saiyan, Kale would scarf down any food within a ten-mile radius like his very life depended on it! But for now, the man wanted to savor every second of this dish. The presentation itself was fantastic!
Kale pinched the first portion of food within the grasp of the twin sticks. He managed to grab a few items of each kind, save for the fried rice, which laid on the bottom of the dish for now. The Saiyan advanced by bringing the food items to his mouth. He then bit down on the veggies and noodles. The taste he experienced could only be described as the quality that could only be achieved in heaven. His eyes widened in pure awe. The man continued to remove the chopsticks from the inside of his mouth, and began to chew down on the food contained within. It was cooked to absolute perfection! The texture was fantastic! A happy, satisfied close-lipped moan vibrated from Kale. He just wanted to savor it forever!

Divine fragrances also enticed Sorrel, though he could only helplessly watch as the dish settled in front of Kale. His stomach emitted a low growl in what could only be envy, as he was no longer on the verge of starvation. It held the sort of presentation that made it seem priceless as if no ridiculous amount of zeni was unjustifiable if it went towards having one of those 'Sumo Plates' prepared to such elegant completion.
But Sorrel had tempered his desires. He would not cause a raucous over food, especially when he had his own on the way. Instead, he would simply appreciate the dish from afar and look to the remnants of his last dish as a hint at the bowl to come. Now that he was not consumed with the desire to consume, he could appreciate the amount of skill and attention that went into such a simple dish. In his three years on Earth, he had not met a serving of Chow Mein so inspiring. Certainly, this man's affinity with food was otherworldly.
"Itadakimasu--!!" His newfound enthusiasm came from his newfound appreciation of the humble dish, and he unsheathed his disposable chopsticks with the fervor of a lion pouncing upon its prey. It only took a swift snap to separate them and the quick positioning of the two between his index and middle finger for Sorrel to be prepared for combat. The two sticks were thrust into the mound of noodles and swirled ever dextrously to make sure the chef's ingredients saw thorough and even mixture. Finally, he swiftly drew the noodles perpendicularly to avoid having them unravel from the sticks as he brought them to his mouth.
"Nirvana...," he murmured as his mouth savored the flavor. The perfect amount of sweet, spicy, and savory came together to make a basic dish feel gourmet, and Sorrel was enjoying every moment of having his taste buds come into contact with such a work of art. It didn't take much more for Sorrel to finish his second helping. He was so satisfied with his meal that he took all of the paper currency that was inside of his pocket and slammed it down on the counter.
"This, my friend, is art. Fine art. How did you acquire such skill?"

Kurri stood watching as the two enjoyed their meals, the fox jumping slightly when Sorrel's money quite literally hit the counter, all manner of utensils and dishes jingling, albeit harmlessly. As compliments came he could feel himself blushing, a goofy grin stretching across his face as he waved his right hand at the both of them "Ha ha ha, I only wish I could speak so profoundly of myself, but thank you!" he began, carefully reaching over to collect the money Sorrel had laid down, counting it quickly before handing a couple of bills back, all in all his food was surprisingly inexpensive. "I learned to cook with my mom since I was a kid. She spent time finding ways to satisfy my father's appetite and of course mine, so I suppose that plays a big part next to just cooking all the time." he added lastly, ducking down for a moment to retrieve a bottled water from his cooler, unscrewing the cap and taking a sip.
The zoanthrope seemed relatively happy, with customers to serve and talk to, tail softly wagging and ears perked atop his head under the little ear-covers of his hood. Today was turning out well.

By now, Kale had finally reached the fried rice portion of his dish. There were still some delicious-looking dumplings remaining among the field of brown rice. Still using his chopsticks, the Saiyan successfully scooped up clumps of rice which he continued to scarf down. In order to make sure that nothing fell off of his plate, Kale grasped the left side of the dish with his left hand, and held it close to his face. The two could hear the bamboo sticks scraping against the porcelain of the plate.
While Kale was trying his best not to rush with completing his meal, he somehow accomplished his task within thirty seconds. He thought it was a reasonable time. After all, the Saiyan got to enjoy every last bit of flavor. Bits of rice still remained stuck on the surface of the plate. But, Kale paid no mind to them, as he was quite surprisingly well fed at this point!
Kale now lowered the plate back onto the counter top of Kurri's cart. He made sure to be gentle about it, because he didn't want to break it and pay for such an expensive-looking eating receptacle. Kale then placed both chopsticks into the paper wrapper that they were previously enclosed within, and set them down vertically alongside the right side of the now empty Sumo Plate. To be quite fair, Kale didn't know what part of the meal was his most favorite. It was just too hard to choose! But moreover, it was time to pay the friendly fox.
"Whoo!" Kale voiced with contentment while he patted his stomach with his right hand. "That was so delicious." The Saiyan smiled, now, reaching for the wallet that he kept his zenni in. "Are you sure that my dad didn't learn to cook from your mother?" asked the Saiyan as a friendly joke. Now with wallet in hand, Kale offered a grin to the Zoanthrope. "So. How much will it be?"

The hybrid's diluted blood became much more apparent with his modesty. Modesty was not something reared in a full-blooded Saiyan child. Sorrel would bet that any Saiyan raised somewhere like Earth would lose their harsh tendencies. After all, the standards of good parenting on Earth were teaching your child to work hard, be educated, and be considerate of others. On Vegeta, good parenting was making sure they could fight well enough to serve the empire. But Sorrel was only thinking in probability, as he knew there were no absolutes. Kale and himself had apparently shed their Vegetan nature, and many Earthlings shed their humanity. There was a significantly larger percentage of mass murdering, planet enslaving Saiyans than Earthlings for a reason is what he had surmised.
"I see," began Sorrel as he absorbed as much information about Kurri's demeanor as he could in an instant. He had been doing this at random intervals since his interest in the fox sparked. It was a common practice of his with any interesting specimen. It also proved to be a much better method than staring, especially with a species prone to self-conscious discomfort like Earthlings. Besides, he found conversations more enjoyable when the subjects were unaware of his observation. Organic behavior was much more entertaining, simply because it was more unpredictable. Furthermore, the idea of having his conclusions tainted by dishonestly provided information was unsettling. His thoughts broke to take in the change for his purchase. He counted the value, finding himself surprised at how affordable the meal was. Many independently owned cart businesses sold their food as if it were made with gold. They seemed convinced that the only way for them to stay in business was to overcharge. Sorrel smirked, admiring Kurri's business model. Instead of having cheap or expensive dishes across the board, the zoan seemed to blend different price brackets. This made his cooking accessible to all classes of people. Or maybe Sorrel was overanalyzing things. Either way, it was a thought to save for later as it may help him sometime in the future. "I will come by again some time." Sorrel stood, pardonning himself from his seat. He noticed Kurri sipping from his bottle and winced. His lips were chapped, the roof his mouth was moderately hot with spice, and his greased throat begged for a cold and realizing that two bowls of chow mein with no beverage left his mouth pleading for a cold, inviscid fluid to end his misery. It was as if the Atacama Desert itself formed in his mouth, and he needed a beverage before he was consumed by the desert's sands. But he would not buy bottled water, for he firmly believed it was a scam! Instead, Sorrel resolved to obtain his hydration from a natural source. He gave a nod to Kurri, a nod to Kale, saluted them with an index finger, and departed. ( Sorrel has made his exit! I would like to earn zeni from this thread! )
