Hello everyone! I have brought you all here today to discuss what your thoughts are on being able to upgrade lower items you have purchased.
This being A). Weights B). Houses and shops and C). Anything else.
What do you think we should do? It seems we can sell things back for half the price already. But it would be awesome if we could have the option of trading up and getting the next tier at a discount.

I prefer it as it is. You have to weigh up he benefits of getting lower tier versions earlier vs getting stronger benefits with a shorter wait.

I've actually done that. If I got a starter shop and each of my zeni posts was like my last one at 900 I would net an extra 225. It would take 22 posts of that caliber zeni to pay for itself which by then without buying the starter shop, I would have had enough for the 100% shop.

I was going to post here last night, but didn't know what to say. You know though... Not all threads are going to give you 900 Zeni but you probably already know that with how much zeni I gave you for that one thread before this one. I find it kind of a bad idea to be able to upgrade an item by subtracting the difference between the two items you already have/want.
The reason being that you can:
1) Start off with 500 Zeni and a One Use Spaceship
2) Get 500 OOC Zeni for advertising the role play site on other RP sites
3) Have the ability to write up to five training threads anyway for Zeni if you wanted to
4) You can actually get most of the items in the shop easily
I only did two threads and used the five hundred bonus Zeni I had to get the most basic training weights, of which, you now have the most advanced version of. You used 4k Zeni, of which I think you got most of the Zeni in the thread I graded for you. I think you only did about two threads to do this. So here's the thing...
The better or more interestingly you write (which you show you can do) the better you may have in gaining your Zeni. Getting items is supposed to have some kind of challenge, which is why I'm agreeing quite highly with Hyoza's opinion on this matter.

All of which is fine, and I was not disputing that. Also yes, not every post is alike. Not every post is getting that much, and some may get more.
I was simply using 900 as a basis to show you how much you might get buying a starter shop that gives +25%, how long it would take for you to get the money back from it, and how long it would take you to get a higher tier shop to how long it would take for you to pay off the current shop you have.
Now I understand these are meant to be expensive for a reason, and I understand that they are meant for the long run term not short term. BUT this is just to see what others think.

for the most part I agree with Hyoza except on the training items. I've always seen the training weight upgrades as 'addons' rather than bigger versions. For example: Light Training Weights might only be some boots and a weighted shirt/pants, The Medium could add shoulder pads and heavy wrist bands and the heavy could be perhaps an entire 'suit' so to speak that goes on over the medium/light
