As he awakened around noon that day, he could feel the blazing heat of the sun burning the bare flesh of his chest. He sat up, shaking his head. Everything was a bit fuzzy for the human warrior, and rightfully so. As he ran his left hand through his wild, blood red hair, he felt a small bump at a point right in the middle of his scalp. He groaned, but couldn't find the words to describe his current feeling. "...."
Stumbling a bit he stood, the weights on his wrists and ankles causing him quite a bit of difficulty. He looked at those weights, quite a bit confused by them. It was almost as if the crimson Ace of Diamonds didn't recognize the weights as his own. Furthermore, as he wandered through the sands, he felt unfamiliar with himself. Who was he? What...was he?
He felt quite a bit strange, a strange power emanating from him. Anyone sensing him would have sensed a bit of an above average power. Anyone sensing him would sense the power of a warrior, though the warrior himself knew not who he was.
He moved forward a bit more and winced as a sharp pain creeped into his skull. Falling to his knees, he yelled out in pain and closed his eyes. This proved to be a mistake as he saw two people...both being killed by ki blasts...red ki. Over and over...the same two people...
He would pull his hands away from his eyes, looking down at them to see deep red stains going from the fingers to the wrists. He couldn't pinpoint why, but he felt a deep sadness boiling inside of him...

There was two difference sounds at first. The first, was that of crunching; sand being pressed beneath combat boots. The second was that of noisy, wet chewing.
"Woooh~" Tanis exhaled. A 'pop' was heard shortly after.
Tanis began to chew on her strawberry gum again — soon enough another bubble would follow. Heavy traces of sweat having left their mark on her relatively light skin. It was clear she had been traveling for a long while. Tanis neared the man with the vivid scarlet hair. It had been a while that she had her eye on him. For the most time the body was but an iota in the horizon, dancing like a mirage on the horizon. Finally, however, she had arrived to find the event. She'd kneel besides him.
"You okay?" She inquired, handing him what looked like a military canteen. It was about half full of water.
The woman knew nothing of the man; she couldn't sense any form of power. To him he was just an unique individual — likely a victim of highway robbery... And... Are those weights? Tanis thought to herself.

Sanguinis' mouth was as dry as the parched, scorched desert sand under his bare feet. He'd take the canteen from the woman and gratefully swig from it, the water cool on his tongue. Refreshing like a swim in a lake. He looked up at her through his green eyes. "I thank you, ma'am. I've nary an idea of what I'd do if you'd not wandered across me here. I felt as if I may perish." He spoke very eloquently.
He looked down at the sand for a moment, thoughts going to the black weights on his wrists. They felt easy to lift, so he'd assumed that he was stronger than he felt. As he stood up to his six feet three inches in height, Tanis would see that he was quite fit. He wore a pair of black haori, with a red dragon on either leg, with a white sash around his waist. The man wasn't what you would call "pretty". He was handsome to be sure, but his entire upper body and parts of his face were covered in tattoos. Tribal.
He slowly turned his head back toward the woman, confusion in his eyes as he studied her. He made note of her gum chewing, which would be common. He started to introduce himself..."So...I'm....I'm...." He scratched the back of his head with a sigh. He looked at her again, quizically. "Who might you be and what are you doing out here in this...harsh...place?"
He didn't even know what he himself was doing there.

"Ma'am?" She asked, raising an eyebrow at the comment. "I don't look THAT old, do I?"
The girl's tone was jovial. A grin spread across her features and she shook her head.
"Drop the formal crap; call me 'Tanis'.
She was a strange sight to be sure: black combat boots; dark grey camo pants with an abundance of pockets; a long, black coat those length — which ran past her knees — billowed in the desert wind. Tanis reached into the pocket of the body armor beneath the open coat. Judging by the lack of bulk in her arms it was safe to say the body armor had no sleeves, but the black Kevlar-like vest had plenty of pockets! The one she reached for was right bellow the large mound of her chest.
Tanis handed him a long, thin, pink rectangle. Gum.
"Take it. It'll help you keep your hydration a little longer."
She took his face, bizarre outfit, and novel tattoos into consideration. They were pretty bad ass! She narrowed her eyes, giving his face heavy scrutiny as she tried to picture what those tattoos would look like on HER. Tanis soon shook her head — a quick jolt to pull her mind away from her daydream and into the NOW.
"I'm just trying to get to the other side. I heard there was a karaoke bar somewhere across this sand sea. I'm too cheap to buy transportation, and I don't like flying... So here I am." She cleared her throat, bringing up her canteen and checking to see how much water it had left, "I'm new to 'Earth'. I'm trying to experience all it has to offer."

He didn't call her ma'am as an implication of age, but more so a sign of respect. She wasn't a small woman, but when it came to it, she was still a woman. Sangu's lips curled upward into a tired smile, bags under his eyes. He'd obviously been through Hell. "Oh no, I don't mean to imply that you are old...it's just that my fath-" upon the mention of his father, his eyes became very thoughtful. "...my...my father always told me to treat ladies with respect..."
He looked her up and down, his dark green eyes examining the woman. She was strange looking to him as most women he'd met were dressed for combat. Which, she was but those other women would wear gis. Gis! He snapped his fingers. "By jove, I think I've got it!" He took the gum from her, popping it into his mouth and chewing. He'd introduce himself politely. "Hi Tanis...name's Sangu, and I am a travelling warrior. It's a pleasure to meet you."
His memories were still foggy as to what had happened. He had no idea why there would be blood on his hands, but it soon became quite clear...at least to Tanis. As he would turn to look at the sun, she'd see a nasty gash on the back of his head, still oozing bits of blood..."I wish I could remember why I came out here. The last thing I remember was a battle with my nemesis, Cube...and...my...friends being murdered..."
She'd see a tear slide down the filthy warrior's cheek...
