Thread PL: 49,622 | Heavyweights ON: 12,406The trees rustle as wind passes through them. The sun is shining in the sky today, and it's beautiful. The smell of cherry blossoms bring a smile to his face as he stands there, enjoying the feeling of the Spring weather. This was a perfect day. But as he stepped into the clearing and saw the task ahead of him, Sangu's smile would fade into a straight, determined scowl. Before our hero stood a tower, engraved with tribal writing of some type. Vyrna, his pretty young friend stepped up next to him and placed a hand on the weighted shoulder pad on his left hand side. He looked to her, seeing a look of concern in her deep hazel eyes. "I know what you're thinking..." he said, looking up...up...up...and up...craning his neck at the height of the tower, which stretched up into the sky. He shook his head, looking at the female. "...you probably think I'm insane, honestly."
"No...no...not at all..." she lied. She lied to him in an attempt not to hurt his confidence. But the truth was that she knew Noone who had ever climbed the towering pole and actually came back down. "...just hope you know what you're getting yourself into. That's a long climb, Red."
He gritted his teeth and sighed. He knew exactly what he was getting himself into, because he'd heard stories of the pole. Stories of warriors travelling to the top in ancient times and experiencing an ascension of sorts. He could just give up. He NEEDED this. "Well...I need to know what's up there, Vyrna. I can't just sit here all day and look at this pole. It's too tall not to lead anywhere, ya know!"
"I guess...but...wait, why don't you just fly to the top?"
"Too easy." Sangu scoffed. He'd thought about it before, but he thought actually climbing would be more respectable if the legends were true. So, he stepped forward...and got ready to start climbing when...

Tess bobbed up and down on the caravan wagon seat as her massive palomino Belgian horse trotted in front of her, the trip to the tower from the bamboo forest was always a long one, but necessary. She shielded her eyes with her hand as she looked up toward the tower, King yawned above her. The black and white cat spent most of today napping on the warm wood caravan roof in the sun, she let him have this since the thick bamboo forest offer such small sources of sunlight. King rose into a sitting position as they moved closer to the tower, he squinted his mossy green eyes as he spotted to figures already at the tower, "Hey Hey ma! Slow down we got company." Tess pulled back on the reigns slowing down her horse's thundering hooves as the came up behind the couple.
Tess and King simultaneously simultaneously tilted their heads, "You're not really going to climb it, are you?" The cat asked with his lightly Spanish voice, then they both looked up to the endless tower. When Tess moved the caravan closer to the red haired man she expected to look down, but was surprised when he was nearly eye level to her while sitting in the wagon seat, so surprised she merely muttered, "Oh." As her crystal blue eyes widened slightly. She started to think this looked like an odd jack and the bean stalk story...

He looked at the cat who addressed him on this fine day, then rubbed his eyes. He'd seen zoanthropes before, but this particular creature struck him as odd, seeing as how the cat was closer to a cat physically than a human. The tall, muscular human thought for a moment. Perhaps this was a fool's errand, especially since he'd heard that very few people actually received the blessing at the top of the tower. His resolve like steel, Sanguinis would answer the question truthfully. "Honestly? Yeah. That's the idea, I believe it'd be good training. Test my body's limits, meet the Kami. Why, does it seem crazy?"
The ruggedly handsome Ace of Diamonds then looked at Tess, who really hadn't said much. He noticed the way her hair flowed in the wind, the way her eyes seemed to shine in the sunlight. He gulped, his cheeks turning red as he tried to speak..."H...h...h..."
Vyrna shook her head. One of the man's weaknesses was that when he saw a gorgeous woman, he became speechless. She growled, bopping her training partner in the back of the head. "Dang it Sangu! The lady's lookin' at ya, stop being a dork and talk to her!"
He momentarily muttered at his friend, then smiled broadly. "HI! I'M NICE, IT'S SANGU TO MEET YOU!" Oh brother...he facepalmed, face as red as his hair now.

"Honestly? Yeah. That's the idea, I believe it'd be good training. Test my body's limits, meet the Kami. Why, does it seem crazy?" King nonchalantly used his back foot to scratch under his ear, "What kinda limits are you testing of you fall off?" Tess glanced sideways at her sharp-tounged cat, "Hush, let the human do as he pleases.", she turned her attention back to the red-haired giant as he spoke to her.... well more like shouted at her, "HI! I'M NICE, IT'S SANGU TO MEET YOU!" Tess leaned away as her eyes widen in surprise, but quickly looked up as King bawled with laughter. "Oh King, Shuddap"
She then leaned over in her wagon seat to the red-haired man, thick eyelashes complimented her opal blue eyes, her golden hair flowed like satin over her shoulder, "How can you test the limits of the body if you've never tested the limits of the mind, Sangu?" She slid off the caravan in front of Sangu, quickly realizing he was much bigger up close, he easily dwarfed her 5 ft. 1 in. frame.
King wiped the tears from his eyes as he finally stopped laughing, poor soul will be eaten alive by his ma if he keeps this up, he hopped down from the roof onto the wagon seat behind Tess, he sat down with a grin wanting to see the show up close. Tess looked up at Sangu as she placed her hands on her thick hips, "What is it you're really looking for at the top of that tower?"

He looked down at the beautiful young girl. His eyes were a deep green color, eyes perfectly arched with tribal tattoos over them. They were a brand of his family, given to him during his child hood. His long, crimson hair sprouted upward from his ponytail like a radish stalk and then cascaded down his back like a red waterfall. He wasn't what you'd call "pretty", but he was ruggedly handsome.
The cloth of the man's gi was a black haori top, his pants a pair of white gi pants commonly used for training. Pretty relaxed for a climb up the huge tower, to be sure. He tilted his head, hearing Tess say "How can you train your body when you haven't trained your mind?" He would simply reply "Well, I'm definitely not stupid, ma'am. I trained with a man named Ayumu, who put my mind to the test." He started to relax a bit as he explained. "As such, he helped me learn to maintain my focus in battle."
The man known as Sanguinis was a warrior, and as such had focused much of his life to hone his body and sharpen his skills. You could tell he was in peak physical condition, hardly an ounce of bodyfat anywhere. He didn't react to the cat's laughter. It was part of a confident persona that he'd come to be known for.
Meanwhile, the tomboyish Vyrna would oogle King. "Awwww! Look at the pretty kitty." She would reach out with her small hand, scratching King under the chin. The girl loved animals
Sangu looked down at Tess and clasped his hands behind his back. She was short, especially to a 6'3" human like himself. He listened to her question and looked off to the side, thinking for a moment. "Well, honestly, I heard that if you reach the top of the tower then there will be some mysterious water. Legend has it that this water can increase a warrior's power exponentially." He shrugged and threw his arms out to the side, chuckling. "But eh, that could be old wives' tales."
His stomach began to rumble as he stood there before Tess, and he blushed. He hadn't eaten for a while...but only he knew this.

Tess took a moment to look over Sangu now that she was on the ground, he was an awfully fine male human specimen, well built from what she could see, and at least he wasn't a god damned sayian, she had always disliked the sayian race, but could never deny that their males were irritatingly attractive, Damn warrior bodies. Tess was torn away from her thoughts as Sangu spoke, "Well, I'm definitely not stupid, ma'am. I trained with a man named Ayumu, who put my mind to the test." He began to loosen up as he explained how the man helped him. "As such, he helped me learn to maintain my focus in battle." Tess shook her head sideways and let out a soft laugh-sigh as she gazed up at him, "I never said you stupid, but intelligence is not power of the 'mind'... focus counts though but there is much more than that beneath the surface." her opalescent blue irises glowed for a momentarily as she spoke, "Once the mind is free, there are no more limits for the body."
King sat back on his hind legs as he dusted himself off, suddenly King's ears perked up hearing the man's female partner approach him, "Awwww! Look at the pretty kitty." King snapped his head up, "I am not pretty, lady, I'm handsom- oh......"King protest quickly faded into an audible purr as she scratched under his chin, he rolled over on the carriage seat as she pet him. "Wow, you're awfully forward." King joked as he stretched out.
Sangu seemed to loom over her with his hands behind his back, she crossed her arms under her large chest as he replied to her question, "Well, honestly, I heard that if you reach the top of the tower then there will be some mysterious water. Legend has it that this water can increase a warrior's power exponentially." He shrugged and threw his arms out to the side, chuckling."But eh, that could be old wives' tales." Tess was about to respond when the audible gurgle of Sangu's but caught her attention, "Oh jeez," Tess laughed as poor Sangu blushed, "And you were going to climb that tower on an empty stomach?" Tess turned away from Sangu to see King preoccupied with Sangu's friend. She began to walk to the caravan as she motioned for him to follow with her hand, "Come come, I have the remedy to your problem." She lowered the old wooden steps of the caravan and opened the rounded door to reveal potion bottles, plants sitting on a small counter of a kitchenette and a bed along the other side. She easily fit in the small space, she tied back her long golden hair into a large ponytail as she bent down to shift through her cabinets and ice box. She popped back up with a plan and oil, with the flick of her wrist when flame on the stove flashed to life, "We sometimes make and sell food to make extra money when we are on travel." She smiled softly as she tossed in minced pork and flipped it over in the pan.

As he walked into her humble wagon, he had to duck his head slightly. Never once did you hear the human utter a complaint though. He honestly wasn't used to getting the attention from a woman like this, especially a knock out like the little woman, Tess."This is very nice, Miss Tess. You've a lovely home." He remarked as he looked around, his smile broadening a bit. Sangu had never had a home, at least not since he was ten. He'd been travelling in cold pods for his formative years, unwillingly doing the bidding of a cruel arcosian. "So, your cat talks? King, you said his name was? I have seen humans with zooanthropic features, but never an actual talking cat." He spoke with a bit more confidence now, his tone relaxed.
She was a looker, no doubt. But he was a gentleman. However, he couldn't help but take notice as her hips swayed and she bent down to get the frying pan and oil. He didn't want to be rude so he averted his eyes, looking for any family pictures or such. Then...as the minced pork began to sizzle, the smell hit his nostrils. "Oh my Kami...that smells amazing..." he'd not eaten in days, and the sheer ectasy brought on by the succulent smell of food nearly caused his knees to buckle...

Tess smiled as he complimented her caravan, ( caravan imgur.com/gallery/DMYkH ) the walls were essentially bare in her caravan, a few herbs strung up on the wall to dry, and a picture of two women in front of a grand house, one woman was young with the same wild hair as Tess but brown, and an older woman with short silver hair. It hung right above the door way with a dry herb hung next to it. Tess motioned for Sangu to sit on the bench by the bed, she was mildly concerned he felt cramped in her caravan, she tilted her head towards him as he spoke up but kept her eyes on the cutting board as she sliced carrots, "So, your cat talks? King, you said his name was? I have seen humans with zooanthropic features, but never an actual talking cat." He spoke with a bit more confidence now, Tess laughed as she set down the knife, "Well that's because he's my familiar, think of it like an animal with a tiny part of your soul, forever connected, yet wiser than you. Wise enough to help one reach full potential." She turned back and tossed in carrots and onions, then pouring sweet sauce over the sizzling meat and vegetables. "Its hard to describe, but he's like me and I'm like him."

Sangu felt himself warm up to the woman a bit. She was very kind to a stranger such as himself, he knew that much. If Tess were to look closely, she would see bandages peeking out from the opening in his gi. Closer inspection would reveal that he had a slight limp, as if his leg had been injured. He walked over to the bench near the bed and sat down with a relieved sigh. "Ahhhhh.. wow...you wouldn't think a bench like this would be so comfortable, but when you are as exhausted as I am..." he snickered, scratching his nose. "...it feels like heaven."His emerald green eyes scanned the herbs, and he knew why they may have been there. Some people used such things to make their homes smell good. Then he looked over at the women in the picture, raising a hand and commenting..."That lady is very beautiful in the picture. Are you guys related?" He would as as he leaned back against the wall, relaxed. He watched the cute blonde move about in the kitchen, tilting his head. Tess would notice a sadness in his eyes if she were to pay him mind.

Tess concentrated on the task at hand, stirring the white rice in with boiling water and topping it of with a lid, she nodded as he talked until, "That lady is very beautiful, in the picture. Are you guys related?" There was an unintentional pause in her movement when the woman was mentioned, she quickly resumed her cooking once she realized she had stopped moving, "She was my mother." Then turned and pointed at the picture with the spatula, "And that's was my grandmother. Her mother." She stared at the glass of the window as the whites of her eyes slowly became black, her mother's terrible gift haunted her evey time she was mentioned.
Her eyes reverted to normal as she turned around with a bowl of pork stir fry and white rice, She pulled a tv table from behind the ice box and gently placed the bowl down, as she bowed she noticed the wrapping under his shirt, "You gotta be kidding me," Her small hands were fast as she opened his gi, to reveal already bandaged wounds, "Do you have a death wish or something? I'm starting to think you really are just stupid." She promptly turned back to the stove, then pulled out a small wooden chest. Once opened it revealed various bottled organs and herbs, "Its not a senzu bean but it will be close enough," Her hands moved quickly over the chest and pot, potions were a tricky craft requiring speed and precision, one ingredient added a second too late can make a healing potion into poison. Tess wasn't a particularly caring person but she believed what you put out into the world will come back you. Karma. After all she would have to correct the bad Karma put out by her murderous mother. Tess turned her attention back to Sangu, "This isn't some miracle potion, it will take a day, or so to heal everything." She say beside him as she set the vial down next to his bowl.
King sat up on his hind legs as he smoothed down his fur then leaned on one paw against the caravan eyeing Sangu's adorable tomboy partner, "So let's be serious, what's your bra size, tomboy?" He spoke with a smirk.

That smell was delicious. The scent of spices and oil, the chicken sizzling in the pan. Sanguinis the Crimson Warrior, he just sat back and enjoyed the smells. During his training, the tall, muscular human had trained his senses to be as sharp as a razor. So he could pinpoint the boiling water smell coming from the small pot on the stove. His stomach grumbled louder, the man not having had any domesticated animals for dinner since he was ten. "My mother was a good cook too..." he blinked his eyes, realizing he'd said nothing of his own past. How rude! "...I hope my asking about your family wasn't offensive, Tess. I don't know if I've mentioned this, but my mother and father died a long while ago. Of course..." he sighed. "...I feel like there was more I could do, but I'd been the unwilling participant of planet brokering, used for my potential."
He bit his lip, not going into anymore elaboration than that. After all, she didn't ask about his past and he figured that he shouldn't bore her with his past. "I'm really beginning to think you are stupid!" She hadn't yelled it, but she might as well have. The Ace of Diamonds chuckled. "Stupid? No. Dedicated to my craft, yes. I have made it my mission to protect this planet from any who would seek to harm it and it's citizens. I..." he explained. "...believe that I must keep myself in top condition if I am to do that..." he muttered. "...getting my ass kicked by Domino didn't help."
Meanwhile, Vyrna's cheeks turned as red as Sangu's hair as she covered up her beasts by crossing her arms over her chest. "Ummm...uh...bra size? I don't ...c-cup...but, i didn't wear one today." Of course, she hadn't realized it until it was mentioned...

Tess listened to Sangu as he spoke about his family, then something about planet brokering. Tess had never left the planet, and knew little to nothing about affairs off earth. Tess looked up toward the photo, "I don't know my father, and Grandmama never spoke much about him other than her disapproval disapproval of him, she always said the strangest things about him, 'looked liked an angel but acted like a devil,'" Tess's brow scrunched up as her mind ticked, it has been so long since she even though about her father.... it never crossed her mind even after her grandmother passed away, she knew her grandmother had something about her father in the house....... Tess bolted up from the bench with a gasp, "The locked rooms!!" It had slipped her mind all this time, could she really find out who or what he was. Tess stiffed slightly as she remembered she was not alone, "I'm sorry I just remembered something from long ago." She touched her finger tips to her lips as she apologized.
King's smile grew at Vyrna's answer, "Don't worry it's heathier that way." King's ears perked up as he heard Tess yell, he jumped down and ran on his back legs to the caravan door, "Don't touch my Ma!" Tess stared blankly at King, "What?" he froze in mild embarrassment then leaned against the door all 'cool-like', "I-I was just checking up on you guys...."

By the time this happened, Sangu was well into eating his chicken and rice. He remarked internally about Tess' skills as a cook, though he didn't want to kiss butt too much. The truth of the matter was, he wasn't well versed in the ways of being flirtatious having spent most of his life as a fighter. As a matter of fact, he viewed Vyrna more like a sister than a woman. He mmm'ed as he took bite after delicious bite, swallowing his food before he spoke to Tess. "This is very good, Tess. Incredible." He didn't raise his voice, as he noticed that she didn't raise hers.
Suddenly, he jumped as she screamed, shaking the bench. He caught himself "checking her out" as she frantically exclaimed "the locked doors!". He set his plate down and stood up in front of her, placing his hands on her bare shoulders and looking down into her eyes, his own green pools filled with an ocean of concern. "Tess! What's wrong? You look like you just seen a ghost. What locked doors do you mean?"
Now what King would see as he came to check up on the two, would be the tall, ruggedly handsome Sanguinis staring down into the crystal blue eyes of Tess...Sanguinis blinked as the cat barged in, instinctively drawing his hands away and trying to explain. "Ummm...uh...well, we weren't doing anything...she was scared, I think, and I was comforting her! That's it!"
"Although, she is kind of hot." He thought to himself. Oi. What was he thinking? He was a warrior...not a lover.

Tess jump back slightly away from Sangu as King barged in the door and look down as she blushed slightly from her outburst, "I'm sorry I just remembered something from a very long time ago," she put her hand to her lips again as her mind ticked on, King gave an aggressive and silent motion with his paws 'I'm watching you' to Sangu as he casually walked out. Tess lightly shook her head as she would have to wait a little longer to uncover the truth, she looked back to were King was to see he left then gazed up at Sangu, "Ummm do you think your partner is hungry?" Glacing over at the leftovers

The human looked at Tess for a moment after King had made the gesture with his paws. For a moment the Crimson Warrior looked down, then he looked up with an amused smile. "It's good to see such a protective friend you have there. It's different for me though, Tess. I am often the protector, rather than the protected." He chuckled, scratching the back of his head.
At her questiom, he tilted his head and looked out toward Vyrna. Honestly, he would have loved to get to know Tess on his own, but that would be selfish of him. He'd caught himself enjoying the blonde's company. He cleared his throat. "Ahem. Perhaps so. Let's s-"
"-Sangu? Are you okay?" Vyrna asked, leaning her head into the doorway with a worried look in her eyes. Tess would hear that same grumble from Vyrna's stomach if she'd listened.
Sangu looked at Tess and whispered, concern in his voice. "She told me she ate this morning. I think she may need food more than I do though...she's really like a kid sister to me."
