OKAY! Having taken into account the suggestions - how does this sound as an option? (I'm just trying to collect some options for a poll so we can decide this fairly)
We show which PLs transformations are unlocked at - and once your character has 90% of the PL required, they can start sensing that they are on the verge of discovering a new well of power within themselves. BUT, we do not reveal the multiplier, or the exact nature of the transformation until the PL is achieved.

That sounds like a really good idea. I'd think people would like to be able to see when they can transform, but I'm sure they'd be fine not knowing the details of a transformation until they get near it.

Before I head out I want to note: Speaking personally from my seat in all this - being allowed to openly share my trans ideas with you guys, have them discussed and critiqued and hear other peoples alternate suggestions would definitely be nice to do - given these are all just personal suggestions/brainstorming notes from me(as a fellow member) to the community. (@ karanon and Nin: Knowing all the multipliers without the requirements still means you can't see the full picture to give proper critique on fairness, balance or alternate ideas. Ultimately up to whatever the public decides though.) Anyway, next site patch thread is the new racial abilities and my proposed starter transformation tweeks (up to 20,000pl*). I was going to post it tonight but somehow accidentally went back a page when pressing backspace and lost it all >.< Likely might do it through the week in smaller pieces(1 or 2 races at a time). Apologies there. *(Should be good to post that while poll options are still being tallied up, unless everyone disagrees?)

You had that happen to you! Aw man! I hate when my connectivity does that too! I hope you're able to get good censuses and then post this back up though. That sounds like a lot of lost work.

People keep bringing up the notion that advance knowledge about your transformations will get 'exploited', but this sites predecessor and others like it never had a problem with that and it showed all transformation multipliers and requirements right off the bat. If anything it made for much better roleplay, as advanced knowledge allowed people to shape their path accordingly and plot out more interesting sagas or interactions. It also encouraged people between major battles to train, knowing that they were close to a useful power up for the coming battle which would put them on par or greater than their planned opponent. People kinda glossed over uubs comment but as he very aptly pointed out: OOCly you may know this information, but ICly you do not. If someone does thinking that you feel is dodgy then admin will give a warning/address as needed, just as would do in any other godmodding situation('tis why we are here ). --- I feel that while the idea of keeping it secret both IC and out is a neat gimmick, it's justifications don't offset it's demerits. With it out in the open, we can polish, improve and hear alternate suggestions.

Hm... That's a good counter point. Perhaps, then, the transformative secrets for IC knowledge should be clarified in the General Knowledge of the Universe thread. This way, people have an understanding of what's happening.
