“If I could make energy beams, then I would’ve. However, I can’t.” The words flew so casually from the Earthling’s lips that Gnash there was no way he was lying. But what the hell was that supposed to mean? ‘If I could’. Could he not shoot energy beams? Maybe he just didn’t have the skill to shape his ki into the shape of a beam and project it? Had that been the case, surely Gnash could teach him a thing or two, despite their difference in power levels. Or maybe he actually was telling the truth? If so, how did he become so powerful without being able to manipulate his ki energy? “I guess it is possible that he just can’t mold his energy into a beam.. What the hell am I thinking? Of course that is the reason! He can fire off spheres.. Or discs, or waves. But no beams. That makes sense! That makes much more sense than him.. Not.. Actually being able to… Manipulate ki…… Right?”
With that mind-boggling comment aside, Gnash went on the assault again. He appeared behind Beryl, the edge of his elbow driving into the base of Beryl’s neck. The sheer physical force behind his blow caused the human to stumble forward a few steps, though it did not knock him down. Gnash had half a mind to think that if he didn’t follow up with a knee, then Beryl would have recovered in mere seconds. This guy could take a goddamned hit. His endurance was impeccable, and his hand-to-hand combat skills were unmatched. At this point in time, if it was purely a hand-to-hand combat fight, Gnash could admit that he would be on the losing end. Hell, he may have even been knocked unconscious by now. This man has surpassed Gnash’s wildest dreams with his uncanny skills in martial arts.
Luckily for Gnash, he was smart enough to follow through by slamming his knee into Beryl’s back, sending him spiraling forward through the air. He didn’t stop there, as that would be a death sentence for anyone. With someone with as much adroitness as this Earthling, you had to stay on the offense and keep him on the defense. If he were to even be able to get a lick of offense in, then you were doomed to lose from that very moment. With that, he fired off a few more rounds of ki blasts towards the hipster’s back with the intent on knocking him completely off of his feet for the first time in this entire spar.
Beryl proved his skill worthy yet again by maneuvering himself around in mid air with such finesse and speed that he was able to swat each and every blast Gnash sent at him away, much like one would with a fly. He manipulated his arm in such a way that each time his hand made contact with one of the energy spheres, he reversed their direction right back at Gnash! “What the hell?! How is he doing this?! I’ve never seen anyone do anything like this!”
Gnash himself attempted the same exact thing, though yielded different results. Instead of sending them back at Beryl like he had previously done to Gnash, the energy blasts just fizzled off to the side, dissipating into the crisp Namek air. What Gnash saw swiftly creeping up upon his titanic figure caused his golden hues to narrow inwards, eyelids retracting back into their sockets. Beryl had been close, his hands clenched into such tight fists that his knuckles were beginning to turn white.
With his arms cast off to the sides from deflecting all of those ki blasts, Gnash had no opportunity to block or even evade this onslaught of expertly placed strikes upon his midriff. Each and every single punch that embedded itself into Gnash’s abdomen turned his stomach completely upside down. He could feel the contents he’d eaten for breakfast churn inside, ready to leave the opposite orifice in which they should originally exit from. The last and yet most effective punch in this chained knuckle-assault was a crafty left hand burrowed deep into Gnash’s pink abdomen. Almost as soon as it was dug into the confines of his navel, the force behind such a punch sent the hooded warrior flying backwards, off of the plateau they were battling upon in the first place.
Gnash’s titanic frame landed in a heap upon the bluegrass that outlined the Grand Elder Guru’s village below. Several of the Namekians gathered around Gnash, some ‘oos’ and ‘awwweess’ rolling across the accumulated crowd. One of the main occupants, a friendly Namekian from earlier, Cordian arrived on scene. He stood next to Gnash, though didn’t dare to touch his scarred friend or help him in any way. “Gnash… You’re doing a fantastic job! You’re giving him a run for his money. You may not win this, but you’ve definitely gone a lot further than any of us could have! You’re not done yet though.. I can feel the energy still brewing inside of you. You’ve got some fight left, Gnash. Get up.. Get up, and show him what a Namekian warrior can do!”
Gnash halted his writhing for just a brief moment in order to hear his brethren’s encouraging words. Of course, none of the other Namekians had spoken up in fear that it would would antagonize the Earthling above. Ever since their first meeting, Cordian had taken up Gnash’s side and didn’t let go. He supported almost every decision and choice Gnash had made since arriving on his home planet. The only one he advised against was visiting the Northern Scar, for obvious reasons. Other than that, he was there by Gnash’s side no matter the situation. Even now, as Gnash was trying to leave their planet which ultimately meant that there wasn’t going to be anyone capable enough of defending the planet.
“Thanks..” Those were the only words Gnash could mutter. His mind was too focused on impressing Beryl so that this opportunity didn’t slip through his fingers to come up with anything else. He placed both of his monstrous paws against the dirt, pushing himself to his feet. He gazed up towards the sky, allowing his mind to travel elsewhere. His ki sensing abilities kicked in, conscience locking onto Beryl’s ki signature. He pointed his arms towards the sky, palms facing outwards. Gritting his fangs together, he blasted off several more energy spheres which would inevitably fly into the sky and tilt on an arc right towards Beryl’s position.
With this being used as the main distraction, Gnash flew off to the side, not even bothering to mask his own power level. If he was able to, he’d appear about ten to fifteen feet behind Beryl, standing on the solid ground. He spread his feet shoulder length apart and brought his arms in towards his chest. His palms were facing each other, digits spread ever so slightly. “Gngh… here we go.. This one last move! If this doesn’t do it.. Well. At least I tried! Gaaaaaaahhhhh… Gyaaaaahhhhhhh!! HAAAAAGGHHHHH!” Bolts of purple electricity sparked around both of his hands, a small ping-pong sized ball of lavender ki beginning to formulate in between his palms. “Gngnhnnh… Gyaaaahhhhh! HYPERION BUSTER!” When the sphere grew to the size of a basketball, he thrust his palms towards Beryl, sending his signature technique out. A fiery cloak of purple energy engulfed the sphere as it soared through the air, aimed right for Beryl’s back and/or chest. Utilizing the last bit of his energy reserves to conjure up this attack, Gnash was forced to revert back to his normal form, completely losing the power of his Great Namek transformation. “Gah.. Damnit.. This.. This better be enough!” His arms fell to his hips, beads of sweat rolling down his emerald physique. He was drained. He was out of energy. Should Beryl escape this, Gnash had no fight left.
