The screening process for new Galactic patrolmen was a lengthy process. Despite popular belief, the Galactic Patrol was a relatively small group – only the most qualified and driven applicants found their way into the organization’s ranks. Although it was incredibly difficult to become a member of the Galactic Patrol, that did not stop people at all from applying for a position. Beryl spent plenty of hours reviewing applications, taking special note of every applicant’s history, experience, skillset, power, and everything else in between.
Currently, he was waiting to interview one potential patrolman in person. Beryl waited patiently outside of his impressive spacecraft, arms crossed and foot lightly tapping away at the dusty, desert ground. Cacumber Capital was only about a mile away; it shouldn’t be too hard for the guy to find where Beryl was.

Maize was headed back towards the city that he used to call home. Before he was able to reach it though, a glimmer of something caught his eye. It was a ship parked outside of the city only a mile or so away. Maize turned and drifted down towards the direction of the space craft. Touching down onto the dusty desert ground , he lands taking a few steps towards the ship and the man standing next to it. “Am I late?” Maize asked. He knew he was slightly due to the off course landing his p.o.s space pod that sent him into the ruins of the planet. Maize stood there in front of him and introduced himself. “I’m maize, I used to be part of the saiyan army, but I left it to begin exploring adventures on my own. Plus being a low class, new soldier, the pay wasn’t very good.” Maize said with a slight laugh.

Beryl felt a ki signature approaching. Blinking, he turned towards the source. It belonged to a muscular Saiyan with a stylish, casual outfit and short, spiky black hair. A brown tail was wrapped around his waist like a belt, a standard amongst all tail-wielding Saiyans. For a moment, Beryl tensed. He didn’t expect for any Saiyans to be interested in the Galactic Patrol, especially considering how much power the SSE managed to gain in the past recent months. Nonetheless, he wasn’t going to shoot down Maize immediately – so long as the desire, the passion and the devotion was there, then Beryl would gladly accept Maize’s help.
“No, you aren’t late, sir. I’m just glad that I’m able to speak with you,” the dark-skinned human responded. He idly tugged on his burnt-orange beanie. “My name’s Beryl Roarke. I’m the leader of the Galactic Patrol.” Beryl offered a hand for a firm, genuine handshake. Maize went on to describe a little bit about himself and his predicament. Apparently, he was a low-class Saiyan, a designation that somewhat damned him from birth. Beryl knew that most Saiyans enlisted in the military, especially the lower-class ones. Maize followed that path but eventually resigned from the military in order to conduct his own adventures, his own journeys. Beryl nodded in understanding. “I can’t imagine the expectations that you had to live up to. From what I’ve seen, being a ‘low-class’ Saiyan in the military is tough,” Beryl commented, frowning slightly. “But I think it’s commendable that you haven’t given up on your goals yet, despite what others have said about you.” Turning around, Beryl motioned for Maize to follow him. “Here, let’s discuss inside.”
The ship’s entrance would open with a steamy hiss. The multi-floored spacecraft was large, spacious and clearly modern in design. Everything about it was brand new; it was truly a marvel to behold. Beryl navigated through the hallways with ease, eventually leading both him and Mayze into the ship’s flight control room. Several holographic monitors, control panels and seats were situated all about the room. Beryl sat in one of the closest seats near the entrance; there was a seat right across from him for Maize to take. “As you probably already know, the Galactic Patrol screens every single one of its applicants very closely. You can basically consider the Galactic Patrol to be an elite organization; only a select few of people can hope to get into it.” Beryl paused, taking this time to gauge Maize’s reaction. “So, why do you want to join the Galactic Patrol? As a Saiyan, I’m sure you’re aware of the stigma tied to your race now – especially with the SSE’s recent invasions. People are bound to distrust you on first impressions. As a Galactic Patrol officer, your number one concern is the safety of the entire galaxy, not just your own home. How will you handle these expectations placed on you?”
Datura listened for a moment while the person introduced himself. Beryl Roarke , the leader of the Galactic Patrol. “It’s great to finally meet you.” Datura took Beryl’s hand into his, applying a firm handshake that he had offered . Datura listened closely as Beryl spoke. He kind of looked down towards the ground and scratched his head slightly. “ The military, I had a bad run in with my I guess you could say, superior. They wanted to leave earth, I decided that I wanted to stay there. so they attacked me, and left me to die there, since I failed to obey and go back with them. That is pretty much my story.
Datura nodded as beryl suggested to discuss things inside and followed him into the ship. Walking through the door hisses as the hydraulic pressure is released and closes the door behind him, sealing off the door air tight. Datura followed Beryl through the halls, admiring every inch of the ship. He had never seen one like this. It was a very large ship in design. Pretty much a marvel to behold and Datura felt honored to be able to board it. Datura followed through as Beryl navigated through the hallways coming to what looked to be is, the ship’s main control room. Datura looked around the room at all the monitors and control panels . The room was also lined with seats. Beryl sat in the one closest to the entrance that they entered through. Datura sat down in the seat that was positioned right cross from Beryl .
Beryl spoke first stating how the galactic Patrol screes all the applicants and very few people are chosen to join. Datura replied with a nod. “I know the process and I hope that I’m able to pass.” With that reply Beryl asked another question. Datura replied “ The reason I would like to join the galactic patrol , and to be completely honest , i need work. I need exploration. Joining the patrol would allow me to be able to move about the universe and explore the other worlds. As far as the stigma against my race. I wasn’t tied to the invasions at all. Honestly this is the first I have heard of it. Even though, if I was part of the galactic patrol, it would be my job to stop such things. The saiyans in the wrong would be my enemies. Besides, I’ve pretty much lost most respect for my race. After all my own people nearly killed me just because I wanted to stay on earth. I ended up finding my location on earth boring, so I searched and found you out, hoping to join with you and preventing catastrophic things from happening.
Hearing that Maize was attacked made Beryl frown in disapproval. Saiyans were known for being harsh and brutal, but they never ceased to amaze him without how violent they were. Beryl held back on any more comments until he and Maize were situated inside of Beryl’s ship. It was then that Beryl was able to start to get to know Maize better. The Saiyan was aware of the Galactic Patrol’s incredibly strict screening process, but that didn’t deter him from applying to be a member. Beryl made a mental note of that; determination was a fine quality to have, so long as it wasn’t determination to the point of foolhardiness.
Once Maize finished speaking, Beryl nodded in understanding. He was pleased with the Saiyan’s answer; it was honest and to the point – there was no skitting around the question. If there was something that Beryl could appreciate about the Saiyans, it was how forward and honest they were. When you asked them something, you were bound to get a straightforward answer. “Well, Maize, I can say that you will be able to explore plenty while you’re with the Galactic Patrol. The organization won’t restrict your freedom in any way; in fact, for the most part, all of the Galactic Patrol’s agents are given a large range of freedom to what they want. However, that’s keeping in mind that I’ll trust that you won’t abuse your powers,” Beryl said, rubbing the back of his neck. “I’m sorry about what happened previously with you and the Saiyan military. The Saiyan Solar Empire are … ruthless in their pursuit for galactic domination as soon as when they didn’t hesitate to off you as soon as you disagreed with their plans.” The dark-skinned human tugged at his burnt-orange beanie. “But I’m glad that you haven’t given up on your goals, and even though you need work and a chance to explore the universe, I believe that you still have the galaxy’s safety in your best interest.”
With that, Beryl rose from his seat. “However, before I make my final decision, I need to see how you handle yourself in a fight. You probably already know, but all Galactic Patrol agents need to be able to protect themselves and others. I’m not saying you have to be the strongest being in the galaxy, but I don’t want to risk putting you in dangerous situations that you aren’t prepared to handle. Do you understand?” If Maize complied, Beryl would motion to follow him outside. “Here – we’ll handle this outside. A lot more room and no need to worry about collateral damage.”
Datura listened to what the guy had to say. Every bit of it. He would nod slightly letting beryl know he was listening.
“ Yes, I do have the safety of the galaxy in mind. It would be a better place if it was peaceful. But that I one thing you would never actually find. There is always someone stronger looking and looking for more power. That’s where we come in. Also though, the unfortunate part, we have to constantly gain strength also to combat these people. That I do look forward too.”
Datura stood up after beryl rose to his feet.
“ I do understand completely. You shall receive my best.”
Datura walked outside right behind beryl, once again following through the halls of the massive ship to the air locked door once more. While walking he thought to himself. This is going to be crazy. No way I can compete with this guy. The energy just radiating off this guy feels massive and I’ve never felt anything like this. Never even met someone this strong and here I am about to try and prove myself to him. As the door started to open to the outside world. Datura let off a heavy exhale.
“ here it goes “ as he followed beryl outside.

The silence between the two was almost stifling; however, once both Beryl and Datura were outside, Beryl spoke up. “I’m looking forward to seeing what you’re capable of. While the Saiyans are known for their … brutality, it isn’t without good reason. Your people are some of the best fighters in this known universe.” It was that reason why the Saiyans and Arcosians were sworn rivals. Both species produced amazing warriors, and the two peoples constantly battled and bickered over who was superior. Of course, there was plenty of history behind the rivalry, history that no doubt influenced the Saiyan Solar Empire’s decision to destroy Arcose with the Tree of Might.
“Although we’re not trying to kill each other, I want you to go one hundred percent during this spar. No holding back. If one of us is not able to fight any other or if it escalates too far, then we’ll stop. Agreed?” Beryl said as he continued to walk away from his ship. After about a minute or so, he stopped and turned around to face Datura. They both were on the outskirts of the city, so there was no worry about causing excessive amounts of collateral damage. “While I may not have any ki-based techniques of my own, you are free to use any if you know them.”
That was bound to sound off to Datura, but it wasn’t the first time that Beryl had surprised someone with his pure reliance on physical abilities. Saiyans were infamous for being physical brutes, but their energy-based attacks were just as destructive if not even more so. With a nonchalant crack of his knuckles, Beryl assumed his fighting stance. His fists were brought up to his face; his knees were slightly bent with his feet spaced equally apart. It looked like a basic stance with nothing particularly special about it – however, a grasp of the fundamentals separated the good fighters from the great ones.
Datura listened while they walked out to what beryl was saying. It was strange hearing what seemed as praise on the fighting ability of the saiyans. He would reply back “ The ruthlessness of the saiyans should have died out a long time ago. It shouldn’t have ,I guess, progressed to what it is now. A lot of these planets and races haven’t done anything to be demolished. It’s just giving our race a bad name if you ask me. We can be strong, brutal, and outright the strongest in the universe, doesn’t mean we have to kill everything because of it. If you kill everything, what’s left to rule over.“
Datura then agreed with the rules put forth by beryl. He watched as beryl got into his fighting stance and prepared himself. Datura removed his jacket and threw it off to the side on top of a large rock. Datura took a few steps thinking for just a mere few seconds on how to start off this fight with such an over powerful opponent. He had never faced someone like this before. Most of the opponents his ever fought was in the same classifcation that he was. . Datura dashed forward as fast as he could, charging a ball of ki in his right hand. Quickly though he brought his hand forward and fired off the energy blast. His only intention of this was to see how beryl would react to it. His reaction would determine what his next move would be.
Even though he had just met Datura, Beryl already had a good feeling about him. He was surprisingly insightful and collected, traits that the average Saiyan typically didn’t exhibit, and while he loved to fight, his thirst for combat didn’t make him have a one-track mind. “You know, you bring up good points, Datura,” Beryl said, watching as the ex-soldier took off his jacket and hurled it off to the side. The piece of clothing landed neatly on the top of a large rock. “I wonder how long it’ll take the Saiyan Solar Empire to realize that destroying everything will only leave them alone with nothing to rule over. However, I hope to help stop them before it even comes to that.”
By now, Datura charged. Beryl remained still, fists still up. The spark of ki in the Saiyan’s palm caught his attention. So, Datura did know how to project ki from his body, a feat that Beryl expected. Saiyans generally had the innate ability to manipulate and control ki from birth; it was what allowed them such success in planetary conquests in the past and present. Datura launched the ki orb right at Beryl, and in a quick, almost dismissive motion, Beryl slapped the energy ball right back at the Saiyan, attempting to hit him right in the chest. Whether or not Datura was hit, Beryl charged forward himself, hoping to use the ki orb as a temporary distraction to mask his approach.
Although Beryl was suppressing his power, he was still moving at an incredible pace. His right fist launched several quick jabs, hoping to pelt Datura’s midsection. Then, Beryl stepped forward and attempted a hard left hook, poised to make his fist sink into the Saiyan’s stomach.
In a quick motion Datura was able to reach over with his right hand, and knock away his own ki blast. Even though he had his left hand up and ready to throw a punch at beryl. Daturas eyes opened widely as he barely seen beryl move. Unable to block quick enough he ended up taking a few punches to his midsection. Datura was able to drop his right arm taking the hard punch from beryls left hand into his arm , instead of his stomach. Datura then quickly attempted to throw a heavy punch from his left hand. Hoping he was quick enough with it while beryl was up close to him.
Deflecting ki blasts was a delicate art. Hit one too early, and it had a chance of detonating on the spot. Hit one too late, and it could slip through your guard. It seemed like a trivial thing, but Beryl emphasized the fundamentals and basics. Having a strong, knowledgeable grasp of both was what separated the good fighters from the great ones, and the Galactic Patrol needed all of the talent and willpower it could get. So far, Beryl wasn’t sure what type of fighter Datura was. If he had to take a guess, he’d say that Datura was a physical brute. Call it stereotyping, but Saiyans were known to use their enormous physical strength to their advantage whenever possible. Many were so used to overpowering their opponents that they paid little attention to finesse and tactics.
Hopefully, that wasn’t the case with Datura.
The Saiyan struggled with defending against the blows; while Beryl was suppressing a large majority of his power, he was still notably more powerful than Datura, but not enough to where the Saiyan wouldn’t have any chance of fighting on equal grounds with him. Eventually, Datura was able to shift his stance – positioning his arm so that it would tank the flurry of punches being thrown his way instead of his vulnerable chest and stomach. While Beryl noticed that, he didn’t notice the punch barreling straight towards his face.
Datura’s fist sank into the dark-skinned human’s cheek with a meaty thunk, causing his head to snap backwards from the force. He stumbled backwards a couple of steps and froze in place. The pause was extremely brief; suddenly, the Galactic Patrol leader charged forward, hoping to catch Datura off guard with a frenzy of well-placed, powerful punches. One punch led towards another and another and another. The final punch would send Datura flying through the air if it connected.
Quick Access [N1] - Beryl quickly engages his target before attempting to pummel them with a series of rapid punches. The twentieth and last punch sends the target flying backwards, that is if it hits. While each individual punch isn't particularly powerful, the sheer number of hits quickly piles on the damage; it's not out of question for victims to literally be beaten into a pulp if they eat all of the hits. Deals 33% of PL in damage.
Datura felt his fist connect with beryls face. The punch knocked beryl back. He stumbled backwards a couple of steps and stayed there for just a brief moment. In the brief moment Datura prepped himself. He was ready for whatever Beryl was going to dish out next.
As soon as Beryl came together and darted off towards him. Datura was ready this time, and his abilities are coming back to him. Been a while since he was in a fight last and he had done got a little bit rusty. So in the instance that beryl moves forward, Datura jumps backwards, flying, keeping the distance between them. Datura then curls his fingers and places both his hands together at chest level facing the same direction ,so that the palm of his right hand is on the back of his left. Once Datura has gathered enough ki, he thrusts both hands forward to fire a powerful blast of energy. The result of the blast is a powerful, huge, Green-colored ki beam that emanates from his hands and body.
With the blast Datura hopes he is able to connect with Beryl.
Datura was smart to back up. Perhaps he was already catching onto Beryl’s fighting style. Beryl preferred close-range fighting; he didn’t have any talent or ability when it came to slinging fancy ki beams, spheres, blasts, discs and all of that stuff. Datura, on the other hand, seemed to be quite the opposite, at least from what Beryl was seeing. The characteristic glow in the Saiyan’s palms put the Galactic Patrol Leader on high alert; some kind of technique was about to come to fruition.
And that one did.
In a flourish of pulsing green light, Datura unleashed his Galick Gun, a fierce beam of concentrated energy that threatened to batter and burn Beryl upon contact. Even if Beryl’s suppressed power was higher than Datura’s full, that didn’t mean for a second that Beryl could just face-tank ki attacks without any repercussions. Cocking back his left hand and clenching it into a tight fist, Beryl sent forth a straight punch directly towards the incoming energy beam. His fist connected with the blast with a cacophonous boom; blasts of wind erupted from the impact point. A second later and the Galick Gun collapsed upon itself, overwhelmed by the dark-skinned human’s single punch. It looked like any other ordinary punch, but it was anything but that. While Beryl had no ability of manipulating ki out of his body, he was a specialist in physical fighting and using ki to reinforce and strengthen his body. His inhuman punches were one of his trademarks; getting hit by a full-powered punch was equivalent to get rammed by a Royal-Class spaceship or having an atomic bomb blow up point-blank in your face.
And that same human, the same individual with that power, was making a beeline for Datura. Ki launched Beryl into the air, allowing him to fly just like Datura. Once he reached striking distance, Beryl aimed to check the ex-soldier right in the face with a quick, but bruising right elbow strike!
Capsule BreakerN1 [1650 PL] Capsule Breaker, in the simplest terms, is a technique that dramatically increases the concussive power of Beryl's punches. He proposes that if his power is great enough, he can literally launch people into orbit with a single punch. Is that true? It’s probably best if no one finds out for sure. Deals 33% of PL in damage.
Datura was in awe at this point. He hadn’t ever faced someone of this caliber. The thought of someone blocking a direct blast like that was unthinkable at his own level. He was beginning to learn there was a lot more to this guy than he was showing. He was going easy on him, but after all, Datura knew he was strong. He was the leader of the galactic patrol. He had to stand up in strength for the position. That was daturas goal also. Be become equal with Beryl, and beryl was just the guy to help him accomplish his goals.
It didn’t take but just a split second once the explosion erupted from in front of beryl and himself to see what was happening next. Beryl basically blocked the blast with his fist and kept coming. So Datura was ready for it. He would instantly bring his left arm up and protect his face, while ducking slightly to the right and bending just slightly enough while bringing his right hand back, clenching his fist tightly together. Once beryls body was close enough and the elbow he was throwing towards his face misses, Datura would attempt to place a brutal upper cut into his midsection.
Saiyans were always the competitive sort, and Beryl had an inkling that Datura was trying to guesstimate just how much power he possessed. It was true that Beryl was holding back a significant amount of power; he was using less than one percent of his full power, but it was sufficient enough to give Datura a good challenge. Could Datura become Beryl’s equal? Of course, he could.
He just needed to put in the work.
Even though his elbow strike missed, Beryl wasn’t deterred by his shortcoming. He watched as Datura brought his guard and dipped around, narrowly evading the elbow poised to dig into his face. The Saiyan’s counter was well-timed and placed. Beryl recoiled from the fist sinking into his torso, letting out a wheeze as the air rushed out of his body. However, the pause was very brief; in a flash, a hand darted for Datura’s wrist, aiming to grab it and hold the ex-soldier’s extended fist where it was. Although his stomach throbbed in pain, Beryl fought through it, intent on making his counterattack connect. If the grab was successful, Beryl would twist Datura’s wrist, poised to immobilize him while his free hand pummeled the recruit with rapid-fire punches.
