Fukurou Forest. It was a nice place. A quiet place. A peaceful one, too. And one that was overrun with ki devouring snake people, if one believed certain salty Arcosians. But, somehow Raisu himself doubted it. As he strolled among the leaves and trees, how could he believe it? It seemed utterly unlikely that anything at all could be wrong in this little piece of the world. Of course, the sun was high in the sky, chasing any shadows and monsters away. After all, everyone knew that monsters only came out at dark. It was the unspoken rule of the world.
Or at least Raisu used to think so. No, that naivete was shattered months ago. Since then, he’d seen prove that not only did monsters exist, but that they shared the same light and world that he did. It was a horrifying revelation, to say the least. But at least for now, the monsters were far away from him. Except for the one inside him, but he’d chained that one. It worked for him now. Or at least he thought so. There was only one way to find out, and that was to stray into the light of a full moon. Thank Kami the full moon had passed for now, though. He’d not have to pay it much mind for another month.
Raisu came to a stop in the forest. A perfect scene seemed to unfold before him. Now this, he thought, was beauty. The trees, the path before him, the way the sunlight seemed to catch everything was just idyllic. He could stay here a moment and watch the world go by. In fact, he would. Raisu sighed and leaned up against a tree, humming to himself. Moments like these were rare. Very rarely could he let his guard up these days. So much so, Raisu did not even bother to conceal his power. His mind was simply focused on the stretch of forest before him. This, he thought, is what he was trying to protect. Even Raisu could have his moments of clarity.
