Azurai awoke in his bed. The sheets hanging loosely off of the side of his bed yet half covering his body, and his eyes still tired and sleepy. Azurai lay there looking at his roof thinking to himself as he did each and every morning. Taking one deep breathe Azurai would sigh.
"Today is the day..."
Yes today was the day. Today was the day that Azurai would leave his people, the group of Monks that adopted and raised him, as he would journey the Earth all by his lonesome and decide whether or not their teaching's of peace and understanding were the way he wanted his life to be lived. Azurai's eyes moved to the door in front of him as an Elder Monk signaled him to get up, make his bed and prepare for breakfast. Azurai nodded to the Monk and watched him take his exit. Azurai took one last look at the roof and did as the Elder Monk told him.
After making his bed and saying a final goodbye to his room, the place he had essentially lived in for the past 18 years, Azurai headed to the ceremonial area fully robed and ready to say goodbye to the men and women that had raised him. Azurai reached the doors of the ceremonial area, took one last look at the area that was surrounding him and entered the room. As Azurai entered he began to walk down a red, shiny, clean carpet laid out for him and the other apprentice-Monks that were leaving their home. While walking down this carpet he looked left and right as he witnessed nearly every Monk he knew all kneeling down, praying for the children leaving that day. When Azurai reached the end of the carpet the Monks began chanting a cryptic phase over and over that not even Azurai understood. As the Monks chanted they started to glow pure white giving the room an elegant, peaceful aura. That very moment was the most peaceful Azurai had felt in his lifetime. Azurai knew he would miss his home.
Azurai focused his attention to the man standing at the end of the carpet while he faced Azurai and stared into his eyes. This man was known as the Higher Monk. The Higher Monk was the one who led this group and was considered a god in the eyes of Azurai's people.
"This is the beginning of your journey young Azurai, do you have any questions about leaving your home?"
Azurai tried to find a question suitable for this moment so that he could stay in this room and continue to feel at peace with himself, even if it was for only a thirty extra seconds. As much as Azurai tried he had no questions. Azurai had remembered everything the Monks had taught him.
"No Higher Monk"
The Higher Monk looked at Azurai half pleased that he had nothing to ask but also half worried that Azurai seemed to want to stay so badly. The Higher Monk forced himself to ignore his feelings and continued to speak.
"You will return in three years Azurai, then you will make a decision. Stay with us, continue teaching our message of peace and show the inhabitants of Earth how they will truly thrive. Or take your own path, whether it be a path of evil or a path of good, but in doing this continue the pattern of senseless violence that has plagued this world for the entirety of it's life."
The Higher Monk faced his direction towards the door that Azurai had entered through.
"Now, take your leave young Azurai."
Azurai nodded towards the Higher Monk and took a final bow as he began to once again walk down the carpet that was there specifically for his ceremony. Azurai once again looked at the Monks that were praying for him. Every step Azurai took a row of Monks would begin to cease praying and stand as they awaited the next person to pray for. With each row standing Azurai felt the initial feeling of peace begin to slip away. As it slipped away a single tear began to run down Azurai's face. Azurai reached the exit of this building and wiped the tear away from his face.
It was Azurai's time to leave his home and begin his own Journey.
Sorry if this post wasn't very gripping or interesting, or had lots of blanks. I wrote this with an immense amount of writers block :/
