[Heavy Weights On]
The halls of the government building were abuzz with the sounds of construction, and busy bodies hurrying up and down them. Everyone seemed on edge, there was a new Queen now, a true monarch, and everything was in upheaval, as she wanted to undo much of the work that the ministers had done. Everyone seemed to be busy, except for one person.
Inside a room on the second floor, down the hall from the throne room which was being reworked, Vennel had woken up after sleeping her first night as Queen off. She pulled herself to the edge of the bed, rubbing sleep out of her eyes, as she checked the clock. She'd only managed to get six hours of sleep, and she wasn't sure whether that was the fault of the work going on just outside her door, or all the things on her mind. She looked down at her hand, and clenched her fist. She didn't know how long her time on the throne would last, and to be honest, she'd prefer it not come to a sudden end. Granted, she could have saved herself a lot of trouble in not proclaiming to the galaxy that she was their new queen, but then her claim to the throne would not have been recognized by the community at large. And even now, some may contest her sitting on the throne, but she had to make sure that she was strong enough to protect it, unlike the ministers, who had grown complacent.
So with resolve toward her day, and what she would do, she stood up from her hed, her body standing stark naked, as she often did when sleeping. She looked about her room, taking in the surroundings of her new quarters. Or should she say, chambers? She was a Queen now, after all. Her room was spacious, more than twice the size of her entire old apartment in Radittsu district. Her bed was also much larger, a size that would best be described as enormous. Seriously, one could fit three to four Saiyans with plenty of space for each on this thing, it was a bit excessive, and Vennel considered having the bed changed out for something a bit more practical, but that was low on her priorities. At the far end stood a cabinet, which is where her armor, and undergarments would be kept, along with any of her personal effects, and a large table that was between her bed and the cabinet. The only other item of note in her room was a large, ornate, oval shaped rug that covered much of the floor space.
Walking toward the table, she picked the note up, to find out what it said, and who left it.
Your Majesty,
I have been assigned as your personal attendant, and I hope that you find my services satisfactory. I have taken the liberty of fabricating a new set of armor for you befitting your new station. You will find it in the cabinet. I also took the liberty of disposing of your damaged armor. When you require of me, simply send for me. I am assisting the servants, slaves, and guard in accomplishing the tasks you set out for us after you began your reign.
May your reign be long lived,
Pumbuken
She got rid of her armor? Tch, she'd have to ahve a word with this assistant of hers. But for now she needed to get dressed, so she approached her cabinet. And sure enough, upon opening it, was a set of rather ornate armor, modeled after the Elite styles of armor, with a long flowing cape and matching tights to be worn under it. But behind it, she noticed a flash of ruby. Taking the "royal" armor out, and setting it aside, she revealed a repaired and remodeled set of armor that looked just like her old armor. In fact, it was, and it had a note attached to it as well.
Found this in the garbage. Fixed her up for you good as new and put it here for ya.
-I
A smile adorned her lips as she tossed the note out. Seemed at least someone understood the value of good armor. While she aprpeciated the armor that would have informed anyone who saw her as to just who she was, that wasn't her armor. She'd worn this same set of armor since she was a small child, and it had served her faithfully over the years without fail. Not to mention, she had grown accustomed to the color scheme and design. And a part of her wished to wear it, as it showed she wasn't of the elite class, and she quite liked that aspect. She wasn't an elite, she was the Saiyan Queen, a member of the middle class. Perhaps if she could achieve something like this, it might inspire other Saiyans to try harder and achieve more, rather than bumbling about in weakness as so many had taken to doing.
With her selected armor chosen, she laid it on the table, and began dressing herself, sliding into the purple tights that hugged her lithe, muscular frame, and followed by her armor, and lastly, her boots and gloves. All that remained now was- ah, there it was. On the bottom of the Cabinet, sat her trusty red scouter. Picking it up, she fastened it to her head and let it boot up. It would take a little while, maybe a minute at best, to finish it's start-up sequences. Her model was a few years old, compared to what most of the Saiyans wore, as she was hardly able to afford a new one. Perhaps now that she was Queen she could get something better made for her, though she had more pressing matters to attend to. She'd return to Cacumber city to see to what she put her people to task for. For now, she wanted to get some training in, before she'd be too swamped with work to do so.
Walking towards her door, she paused for a moment, allowing the automated door to slide open in her presence, before stepping out into the hall. Paying little attention to those who were rushing about, she made her way towards the exit, with a leisurely gait. If anyone had recognized, they sure didn't show it, as not a one stopped to talk with her, or double took her. Which she supposed she should be grateful for to some degree, but it was as if they were all too frightened of her to speak up. Perhaps it was because they had grown so soft in recent years that having a Saiyan who lived by the old laws assert authority by ancient rite was something they didn't understand. A deliberate sigh escaped her parted lips as she added it to the mental list of things to remedy.
As she walked out into the Vegetan sun light, she rose into the sky, and flew off into the wastes, the place that had been her home for so long. She'd think that now that she was Queen, she'd see less of them, but what better place to train than in the middle of no where? After all, she was a bit worried about potentially destroying more of the city if she tried to go all out and actually grow stronger. Speaking of which, even restrained as she was, with her weighted training clothing, her power level was still roughly around fifteen-thousand. Which was not much weaker than when she had attacked the ministers. It seemed her little fight with Kayle had managed to do her some good, as her body recovered from it's wounds and her Saiyan blood worked it's magic. Turning her gaze to the horizon, the young Saiyan queen made her way out further into the wastes, until Cacumber city was no longer visible behind her.
Feeling she'd gone far enough, she landed on a plateau that overlooked a large chasm. It reminded her of where she had left Usagi behind that one day, only for him to go missing. But he was just one slave, and she had many now, so if he was worth while, he would turn up eventually, and find her. After all, it wasn't as though she was hard to find, now. But she wanted to work on her existing techniques at first, before trying something new. She had gained new ideas in the past few ideas, and wanted to see if she couldn't emulate their techniques.
Starting off, she needed to improve her high speed movement. She could leave a single after image in her wake, but the process didn't allow her to go far without tiring and having to stop. And if she wanted to make the most of the technique, she needed to improve. Hoping back and forth, alternating between legs, she warmed up before her body vanished, dashing to the base of the plateau, before her ability wore herself out. But she couldn't stop there, she continued to use the high speed motion technique she'd learned, over, and over, all most to the point of exhaustion. She went in a straight line with each successive use, so that she might measure her distance. When she'd finally felt she could go no more, she looked back to see how far she had gone. To her elation, she'd managed to drastically improve.
[[SU2]Zanzoken/After Image Learned]
Rising into the air, she figured she'd give her legs a rest, for now, as she decided to try and increase the power of her signature ki attack. As it was, she couldn't gather her ki very quickly, and while the attack could become quite useful if she managed to stand and concentrate her ki long enough, it made it unreliable. It took too long for her to even just make use of her full ki potential. So, naturally, her next move was to gather as much of her ki as she could, letting it build into her arm. But just doing that alone wouldn't help her. Instead, she tried to force the process. Veins bulging on her brow, as sweat beaded, and rolled down her face. She panted, the expression on her face showing just how much will power it took for her to manage to manipulate that much ki that quickly.
When she felt she had finally hit the point of critical mass, she let the blast fly, targetting the plateau she had been standing upon not long ago. The Saiyan queen pulled her arm back and then, with a sudden motion, she hurled the blast towards her target, watching as the ki mass spiraled toward it's intended destination. As the ki blast whizzed through the air, it wasn't long before it colided with the rock formation, and with a large explosion, destroyed it, the rocks crumbling down into the valley it over looked. With a smile, she felt that she'd been successful enough to consider her time well spent.
[[MP3] "Attack names are really, really dumb." Learned]
Lowering herself down onto the ground, she took a few deep breathes, before her momentary reprieve was interrupted. A small pack of Saibamen crawled up out of the ravine where the plateau had fallen into, and they were headed straight for her. It seemed as though her action had disturbed a nest of Saibamen that had gotten loose from someone's mistake, or purposefully planted and then abandoned in the wild. They numbered four, each with a power level no greater than a thousand, though, such a challenge was hardly one at all to her now. So she didn't feel as though she'd need to use her full strength, but she felt no reason why she couldn't anyways.
As the Saibamen approached, two of the front runners leapt up at her, to begin their assault first. Vennel's body shifted weight, as she fell back on her left leg after sweeping it behind her. Using the weight proportions of her body motion, she leapt up at them like a spring board, thrusting up and sending a fist into the first of the Saibamen to come close enough, her fist puncturing through the tiny beast's skull, turning it into a paste of sorts. Having leapt up at one, the other that jumped at her, was left to fall to the ground, before it turned around and tried to lugne at her again. But catching it mid-jump, she spun around, and threw it's body down onto the approaching Saibamen who had yet to try their hand at attacking her. The body hit the ground and rolled away, into the path of the oncoming creatures. They caught their feet and fell onto the ground, but just that one slip-up, gave Vennel all the opportunity she needed.
In the blink of an eye, the Saiyan woman was infront of them, sending a sweeping leg across from one, and into the other, sending them both tumbling away into the ravine from whence they crawled. Her display of power, had apparently been enough for the remaining creatures, as they turned to flee, running back into the ravine with all due haste, not wishing to throw their lives away at a Saiyan who could best them so easily.

But Vennel was not yet done with them. Walking toward the edge of the ravine, she watched as they scampered away, attempting to flee from her. A grin crossed her lips. It was a shame that they weren't something she could eat, because her hunger began to grow; she'd definitely have to get some food after this. But for now, her ki began to build. This time though, she tried something new. She wanted to try out one of the new techniques she'd been thinking on and trying to develop, and now was as good a time as any to unleash it. She planted her feet firmly, raising her arm up in a ninety degree angle to her body, folding her thumb over her open palm. Her ki manifested itself rather simply at first, a small ball in the balm of her hand, and then it suddenly grew to twice the size of her palm. She'd yet to name the attack, and honestly, she probably never would, seeing as attack names were superfluous things that, to her, only let your opponent know what you were going to do next.
Once she was confident that her targets were going to meet up with her attack once fired, she let it go. The blast rocketing forward from her hand, the sphere retaining it's spherical appearance, though, unlike her other attack. The ki ball soared down, inching closer and closer toward the Saibamen, until it finally colided with one, and it's explosion was magnificent, a large mushroom cloud errupting from it's location. A shock wave of concussive force blew past her, causing her hair to flutter about in the wind. Her smile dropped however. The attack, while strong, was not as powerful as she would have hoped. She decided to keep practicing it, but at a later time, for now she was satisfied with her progress with the technique.
[[UP2] Big Bang Attack Learned]
Vennel took a deep breath, deciding to take her time resting after what felt like a poorly paced series of training exercises. She'd spent a great deal of energy in such a short amount of time that just left her feeling spent. Plopping down on her rear, her tail uncoiled itself as she layed out in the sand and rock of the waste land, closing her eyes to rest. Her mind pondered what she would do next, but really there was only one thing she wanted to try after she'd rested up. In one of her recent fights, she'd noticed that her opponent had conjured a strange, glowing aura around their body. It gave off light and energy, and seemed odd to her. And what made it more strange to her, was that the energy seemed to build up.
It the technique, as she could understand it from her short exposure to it, was just that they focused their ki into their whole body, to increase the strength of their attack. And never before had she done that to increase her power beyond strengthing a specific attack into a part of her body. But if she was right, it would make building her ki up much easier and also reduce incidents of telegraphing just what attack she may use next. But for now she wanted to rest, let her strength come back to her, before getting back to work, and trying out this one last technique.
As the time passed, it felt as though hours had gone by, just laying there under the pink skies of her home world. Her mind drifted back to her life as a Saiyan. And she didn't mean her entire life, but she meant the past eight years, when she'd returned to her home world, reintegrated with their society, and sistanced herself from her child hood. Her child hood had made transitioning to the Saiyan way of life rather simple. As being stranded with no help, and left to her own devices to eventually use the strength of her Oozaru form to wipe out everything on it, definitely was what the Saiyans were all about, or at least the core idea underlying it all. If you weren't strong enough to stand on your own two feet, you were useless to anyone and everyone around you. And to her, that's part of the reason she wanted to take the throne, rather than waiting on someone else to do it.
The Saiyan people had grown weak, with many going to other worlds and remaining there, or mating with alien species, and letting the aliens raise the children, denying the child the chance to experience their birth rite, to prove their worth. She hoped to show the Saiyans the true path, the path of a real Saiyan warrior, not just one that besmirches the name while being nothing more than an alien with a Saiyan's tail.
Her thoughts dwelled on the subject for some time, drifting eventually to what time it must have been, and how long she must have been sitting there. She felt reenergized, and soon leapt to her feet. Dusting herself off, sand and dust fell in clouds from her body. She had a technique to practice, and if she managed to do so correctly, and develop this adapted technique, she'd return to the capital, and get herself something to eat, her stomache was starting to growl as if to reinforce this need.
Her feet spread out, pushing aside the sand beneath her feet, as she bent her knees slightly, allowing herself some flexibility as she clenched her fists, and tried channeling her ki. She'd done it before, but only into different parts of her body specifically, never the whole thing at once. So in theory it should be a simple proceedure. She felt a warmth spread over her body, as ki began to swell within her. Her eyes were closed, as she tried to help concentrate more so on the act, since it was new to her, rather than relying on "muscle memory" that may have caused her to slip into her old habits. As she felt she finally had done it, her eyes opened, and she noticed that indeed a ki had engulfed her body, sand and dust swirled around her into the air above, before falling down again in a slow descending cloud. Cutting her concentration, the ki aura dispersed in a flash, the remaining sand that was being funnelled up toward the sky, now falling down on top of her.
[[SU3]Power Charging Learned]
Not her best plan, letting herself get covered in sand, but it was far from a major point of contention. It seemed that she had managed to replicate the technique she had seen before. Or at least, what she mistook for a technique. In reality, unknown to her, it was just less controlled ki concentration, and in fact, she'd managed something completely different, but still quite useful. Her body gently rose into the air, she wanted to try a bit more, with some of these techniques, and maybe she could find something large enough that, weighted down as she was, might prove to be a challenge. So off she flew, deeper into the waste lands, to find something to test herself against. She'd do so until her hunger became unbearable, and eventually return to the capital. But for now, she had more traning to do, so as to keep herself in tip-top shape and not fall behind.
Flying through the air, the Vennel found a pack of plains treaders, the large reptillian creatures they were, their power levels were never overly high, though they were also not aggressive, being animals to be preyed upon by the various predators that populated the waste lands. However, despite what would ordinarily spell certain doom for them, they were crafty, and prone to excessive breeding, which was why they didn't seem to ever go extinct.
Counting their numbers, there seemed to be about five of them traveling slowly, unaware of the danger she posed high in the sky above them. A grin crept onto her lips, as she began to rapidly descend towards them, her hand stretched out as she fired off a few weak ki blasts at the ground around them, mostly just to startle them so she'd have something to chase. The creatures, sure enough, let out worried cries of panic as they finally noticed the predator Saiyan, and began to run away from her as quickly as they could. They took a formation with the larger, older members taking the rear, to form a protective barrier for the smaller younger creatures of the pack.
Slowing her pace a bit, she remained behind them, and caught up to one of the rear members of the group, and grabbed ahold of it's flank. The Beast, noticing her, cried out in protest, as if that could stop her actions. But, as one might anticipate, she sank her fingers into it's scaley flesh, cementing a firm grip on the beast. Pulling it aside, she sent the beast flying away from the pack. She could have quite easily just destroyed it, or killed most of the members of the pack, but Vennel wanted to instill fear within them. She wanted to see how they reacted, as it seemed to remind her of her youth, on that jungle planet. The other large one, however, was much less interested in merely reacting solely out of fear, and with a swing of it's head, swerved over toward her, ramming it's head into the Saiyan. She allowed it to, however, as her hands reached over to grip it's head, and pull it back, hoisting it up over her head, before bringing it down onto the ground with a mighty swing. The heft of the body, and her own force, proficded enough of an impact to shatter several bones in it's legs, and more than likely break some ribs, no doubt causing internal bleeding.
Looking over at the smaller pack members, she sighed. As fun as this may have been for her not long ago, recent events made the endeavor less than entertaining. She'd grown much more powerful than she'd ever been over the past week than she had in her entire time as an out law. The constant fighting, and her bid for the throne, playing a large part as the Saiyan body grew stronger every time it sustained heavy injuries. She tossed aside the body of the beast she'd felled and let out a sigh. Rising into the air, she activated her scouter. She tried scanning the area, in search of something that actually might pose a challenge to her, but there was nothing, not here any ways. She did so miss being able to at least get some fun out in the wastes. She supposed that she would have to find herself someone to train with, because as it was, she'd quickly fall behind someone eventually, and then her position and livelihood were in jeopardy.
Locating the largest power source, which would have been in the capital, she followed her scouter's nav point, flying through the air, a general feeling of disappointment permeating through her. As Queen, she had duties to her people, and so she couldn't just go off world whenever she wanted to, on a planetary extermination mission. Which meant that she could no longer do that. So she knew there was something she'd have to end up finding another means of training if she wished to improve herself.
As she flew toward the capital, it wasn't long before she arrived. She touched down again outside the palace, and walked up the stair case, which was being remodeled since her intrusion had caused some misfired ki blasts from the guards to damage the smooth stone work. The workers were all of alien descent, who were too wrapped up in their work to so much at glance up at her. Which was probably for the better. After all, she didn't become Queen for attention, she did it to set the empire on the right track, one which had long been in need of resetting.
As she entered the Palace, she looked about it, this was her home now. She was going to have to get used to living in such opulence, but at this point in time she found it highly unlikely. Making her way to her chambers, she went to disrobe herself, removing her armor, clothing, and scouter, and heading to the bath room that was joined to her chambers. She could afford the hot running water to actually take a bath for once. So she'd be damned if she wasn't taking advantage of that while she could. Drawing the bath, and then sliding into it, she let her body relax, and slide down lower so that just her nose and the rest of her head were above the water level. The warm water helped relax her while she sat in the bath, befor eclosing her eyes to rest a bit, thinking about her day, and more specifically, just what she was going to do about her training situation.
But try as she might, nothing seemed to present itself in way of a solution. Her eyes opened slightly as she sighed, her mouth being submerged under the water causing bubbles to rise to the top. This was going to take time, and if there was one thing she was bad at, it was waiting. Ah well, perhaps something would crop up sooner or later, for her.
The halls of the government building were abuzz with the sounds of construction, and busy bodies hurrying up and down them.
