[Heavy Weights in use]
Vennel and Icarus had split up, going their seperate ways when they got to the ruins to try and cover more ground. They were looking for some replacement parts he needed as tools to help with the joint plan they had come up with. But to do that, they needed the scrap likely found around the ruins. She had been given a list of materials to look for, and set about searching. The ruins however, were like a stranger to her. Large decayed buildings that barely stood as more than a reminder of something long ago, architecture that was foreign to her. If anything, it certainly could be that her little friend lived here, but with the state of decay such that it was, he'd have to be a time traveler, and that was just preposterous.
But as she searched through broken down buildings, she came upon one in particular, a science lab, or something that may have been one, with large rusted barely standing machines and structures that may have once been a part of something greater, a russling was heard. Snapping her head around to see what it was, she found nothing in it's place, instead, just a small broken ceiling tile that had fallen down from the ceiling below. Looking up, she saw nothing but an empty cavity, that may have been a part of an air duct or something. Whatever she heard, it was gone now, probably some sort of small vermin that had crawled to hide in the air duct.
"Tch, this place is falling a part."
Going back to hear searching of the building, she felt this was the one most likely to have something that could be used, since there was an abundace of metal, and they only needed enough that could cover a small distance and hold up enough to be fastened to a structure. And rusted or not, this place sure had a good amount. As she was going to grab some, a familiar sound was heard.
"KI KI KI KI!"
Turning around a saibaman leapt down from the ceiling at her. Taken by surprise the creature tried to shoulder check her, and managed to do so, knocking her aside as she nearly fell back over a nearby table. But before she could push herself back up, the beast charged again, it's head opening up as it was about to fire it's signature acid attack. However, Vennel was prepared, after all she'd dealt with the Saibamen before.
Pivoting around on her foot, she evaded the strike, as it melted the metal pieces she were just looking for, and left a sizzling hole in the ground before the acid had dissolved completely. But vennel's arm was crackling with energy, a new technique, wlel rather, a stronger version of her old stand-by, that she had been waiting to test out. Lifting her arm up, she lunged at the creature, her hand firmly planted on it's face just after it's head had sealed up. And just as she had grabbed it, her hand discharged the energy.
[[UP2] "Attack names are really dumb." is learned.]
What happened next was a sickening squelching sound as the creature's head blew apart, the paste that used to be it's head splattered all over the wall opposite of Vennel. It's body falling to the floor like a rag doll as Vennel looked down at it. Spitting, she turned around and checked her scouter, to be sure there weren't more in the area. Her scouter, thankfully reported nothing of the sort, coming back empty with it's report. It was sufficient to her, that there were no others. Normally Saibamen didn't work alone, but this one may have strayed if it thought it had a chance to take down a weaker prey by itself, to impress it's pack.
But no matter, Vennel still had the difficult task, now made more so with the loss of the mechanical equipment, of finding sheet metal. It was going to be a long day indeed, because what wasn't too damaged for use, or too rusted it would fall to dust, was very hard to come by.
After hours of searching for the right object, she finally came across some sheets of metal that appeared as though they may have been used for an old water boiler of some sort, but had since fallen off. Their bowed shape was what gav eher the idea, but honestly, in the state they were in now, she couldn't be sure. Hoisting the large sheets of metal up, she exited the building she was in, figuring these would be enough, and carried them with her as she headed to the rendezvous point outside the city.
Upon arrival, she dropped the metal fragments there, and set about making a camp fire, as she'd wait for her companion to arrive. Surely it wouldn't take him that long to locate the tools he said he needed. After all, how hard could it be?
