In this thread I will simply lay out the rules and in bold point out what I think (Though obviously am already wrong about) needs to be changed/clarified and why.
1) Act maturely, friendly and responsibly. You are expected to express yourself in a civil and level-headed manner during discussion or debate, therefore insulting fellow members or staff is forbidden, as is any kind of discrimination, overly aggressive behaviour or general actions which are not deemed by staff to be polite and proper during your daily discourse.
From whom are we comparing this maturity and friendliness?
2) Slang words and swear words are allowed, but not used in a manner used to offend or hurt another person. Discriminatory terms are NOT allowed in any sense. Finally, if we have any complaints about the amount of foul language used this rule could be changed, so try to limit yourself.
Please define what a 'Slang' word is by WoD standards as there are many words some consider slang but others don't.
5) Bad behavior in the c-box will not be tolerated - treat it as an extension of the site. If requested by staff to stop a given discussion in cbox, you are to do so immediately - if requested by a fellow member, then you are also to respect their wishes unless staff expressly say otherwise. (Sometimes cbox is not the right place - If it is truly a discussion you wish to pursue further you should instead create a thread for it.)
What all does this cover? What if someone is simply stating an opinion but they're told to stop? Do they have to stop for saying an opinion? Or is the site now also refusing to let people speak their mind openly?
6) You are allowed to do 5 solo training posts per week (7 days).
Please clarify between Posts and Threads... Is this actually 5 solo POSTS? Because if it is that's fucking retarded and needs to change.
8) In solo training, you can learn a new technique for every 6000 PL earned (unless otherwise stated in your species' profile). Alternatively, the same amount of PL can be used to create a higher-tier variant of an existing attack in your character's arsenal.
You say "In solo training"... But don't you mean "In general"?
Oh... yeah... As another note just because this section is for the training things... You can only do 1 recovery thread per week.... Just figured I should throw that out there....
Just as a side note; Bao says there are no invisible rules and that he wants the site to be as transparent as possible.... I can tell you now; There are invisible rules. Specifically I can't say WHAT they are though I do know one is that the public aren't permitted to be told what the grading schematics are (The rule they use to determine the PL/Zeni reward you get after a thread).
Edit:
Just found this one.
9) Fighters are considered equal in power within 85% power-level of the opponent. Fighters within 60% of the leading fighter can still achieve victory, though the difference in power is noticeable. Below this level and you have little chance of victory without team-work or special techniques.
So... With the new injury system that 85% power level thing is thrown out the window because you'll never be fighting someone if you aren't almost equal to them in terms of PL or are sparring as there's no way to reduce someone to any number between 61% and 84%. Also; there is no point in saying anything about any power level % beyond 50%. at 50% (One hit of EQUAL your PL or greater puts you here btw according to the injury system) you're unable to fight your opponent..... PERIOD. It becomes IMPOSSIBLE to win the fight as, despite what this ruling says, a special tech is still subject to YOUR Power Level. And 'Team-work' if you're at the point of potentially being killed, you're going to die 90% of the time because you're the weakest target, you're an easy kill, why not? Get rid of the gnats before they become a problem. As it stands there are 2 methods of recovering your PL: 1) Senzu Bean 2) Recovery Thread. Meaning unless you have a Senzu bean, you're fucked once you get hit ONCE unless it's a spar (Which I'm pretty sure get a penalty to your reward). Obviously without being able to SEE the formula for which they grade threads for myself I can't tell you whether or not I'm right as we only have the staffs word to go on. My point is: This might as well just be removed from the rules all together as it serves literally no purpose. One hit and you literally cannot win the fight as it'd take a minimum of 2 posts to get an attack equal to the Power Level of your opponent MINIMUM after 1 hit assuming you were both at equal strengths before. Being as how there is no way to reduce your opponents power level to any number between 51% and 100% there is no reason to even mention anything within these ranges. After two hits you get dropped down to 25% (Which is only HALF of what their overall PL is) which means if you take twice your PL in damage, that's two stages you drop. By this point after 25% they literally can flick you and you die because of the massive difference in strength. All in all, Not only does this rule not even need to be mentioned but it also means that the injury mechanics make it so one hit automatically ends the fight because the other person literally has no hope of hitting the other person with an attack equal to their strength unless they stand still and take it for 2 posts. And before you try pointing me here please tell me something: Why is Word Count at a higher priority than Quality? If the site TRULY valued Quality > Quantity then why isn't QUALITY, the supposed highest value, above Word Count? Also; Where is the actual formula? It gives you the factors sure, but how is it executed? Is it Quality > Word Count > Modifiers? Word Count > Modifiers > Quality? Is it Quality > Modifiers > Word Count? What exactly IS the formula for it?
Just as a side gripe:
6) There is no point to having an omni-potent character. The rules bar this from happening, however it should be noted that omni-potent characters are very little fun to roleplay - winning everything simply becomes routine, your roleplaying skill won't be stretched. You roleplay to play, and play does not mean victory. Remember your character has limitations, and due to these limitations should respond to an interaction accordingly. Some creatures can have great abilities but even these are not infinite. Don't suddenly give them an out of character advantage just to feel superior (basically, don't do what you couldn't do in real life, within reason (excluding massive planet-busting attacks and martial arts mastery, of course)).
Uhhhh..... A character always winning doesn't mean their roleplaying skill is stagnant in it's growth or anything... It just means those they're going up against are either A) Throwing purposely or B) Aren't up to the same skill level as that person. They aren't "Omnipotent" just because they don't lose. They're simply better than their opponents or their opponents are intentionally throwing the fights at some point in some clever and concealed fashion that nobody is obviously catching. Yes characters have limitations but when the opponent's roleplaying skills are simply not as strong or well-versed as yours your character in those fights WILL be Omni-potent. It's the same theory with battle-hardened warriors. They have experience and knowledge that those who haven't been in as many battles/fights as them simply won't have. It's why some people seemed like they were so heroic and so strong in the olden times because they were battle-hardened veterans that simply had experience over everyone else... Or they're like Goku and it just comes naturally because fuck the universe.
