Hey everyone.
Turbo is coming soon, so I thought I'd start off with some background on the new system and then a new rule that will be in place governing the system.
First, with the help of a friend from Proboards who codes a lot of the plugins, we've created a customized interlocking system of modules that from what I can tell is unique to the forum experience. People will be awarded on a quality-and-wordcount basis, automatically, via a complex formula (with the quality scoring handled by human staff). This automation is auto-magically tied to other parts of the site which I won't get into to save the surprise.
But this new stuff comes with a ground rule. It will be very hard to cheat the automation. There will be a lock on delete, for example. There will be a batch that I can run on someone's account if I think they've been cheating. Basically, don't try to cheat the automation. You will be caught.
This brings me to the big new rule with Turbo: with this new system replacing grading, there will be tremendous penalty for abusing it. If you are caught trying to cheat the automation, we will level a 100% warning, and this will be a permaban. No appeals, no exceptions.
So please don't try it.

How does the automation interact with post edits? Occasionally I'll notice a typo or a weird sentence and wanna go back and change it, but I don't wanna throw a wrench in the machine if it'll cause problems.

Is there an example you can provide on disclosure for this, so people don't attempt it, and will there be a means of people being able to test the code for the sake of having this be updated in the rules for this?
Also, what if someone were to accidentally find this method while this is in play? Would it be safe to say that, as long as they bring it to the Turbo staff's attention, they'd be able to avoid the ban and warning?

No one will stumble across cheating. It will be a deliberate act. There is basically only one way to do it, and it'd be very obvious to do. I'll go ahead and explain below, since it won't take a genius to figure out.
Editing is still allowed. We can't take away both delete and edit, as per the TOS. BUT I will be able to run a batch on edits, that let me see the edits. So if someone is say, posting 1000 words of gibberish, then editing to 5 words, it'll be obvious in a few ways. Mainly, their gains will be incongruent with the wc which appears on their post and their gains will have a stamp tying it to that post.

Editing doesn't make the gains post twice, or anything. So don't worry about that.
Mainly, we'll be looking for edits that change the expected wc, and watching closely users who edit at a very high rate, etc.

Alrighty. Then my next question will be, concerning about summaries at the end of post. Some people, such as myself, Pin here, Wyntre, and a few others have done summaries for in case the posts get a bit too confusing, or maybe are just labeling what we do in the fights, for the sake of recording. Will these small things be accounted for with this automation or will something have to be done to account for it? Example of what I'm talking about is at the end of this post.

Yeah. The OOC notes are something I'm working on coding out of the system. Right now, they'll either have to appear in code format to avoid automation. It's not that big of a deal to me if they're counted, unless someone is going nuts with it, but it'd be ideal if they weren't.

Thanks for clarifying how edits work, I'll be mindful of that when considering my posts to ensure compliance.

So what if all of a sudden I want to scrap this post and start with something new, do I just ask for permission ssion to delete the post?

Will you be able to check if anyone just adds a shit ton of whit text at the end of their posts? I figure that’s another easy way to abuse the system.

Maybe that wouldn’t be considered cheating, more like dumb since all edits won’t gain you anymore xp. It’s exactly the opposite. You can write 5k, take 2k when you go to edit it. And still get the 5k word xp you originally gain. And use that 2k to cheat the system. And since most admin or mod don’t read everyone solos intently. That’s how someone can cheat. Um.
My question was mainly towards the word count of each post and how many solos we limited to per week.

Purika of Universe 3 That was among the questions asked on the discord and the answer is yes, you have to ask permission to delete. Mayze Do you mean like going through an edit to do that? That would be considered cheating, if that's what you mean. Yurei That would be cheating, and since it wouldn't be just staff reading but other players that can report it to staff, that is not going to fly as easily as you say. Vi-Poi With that answer to Yurei, however, it does bring up a grave issue: Due to the number of staff only numbering 4 currently for Turbo, and it is highly likely there's going be more than ten times the number of people coming into Turbo (as most of them will be from here, after all), there is going to be a large issue with people reporting another person about cheating, creating a new system of errors that will be vastly taking up time for you guys to be doing stuff outside of just staff work constantly. My question is what sort of directive will you be doing to approach this? Would you guys be bringing on additional staff for doing this or do you have something else in mind? The task is monumentally larger than the grading, I would say, in that you're going to be peeling through EVEN MORE work to do something, and have to also make sure you guys gave permission to someone to go back and edit, make sure they didn't simply copy paste some work that was once part of another thread that they had permission on, and so forth. Ergo, I must ask about that.

Koldar Frost No, just adding white text at the end of their post without editing.
