Capper taps his pen against his paper, checking off another match. He's almost halfway done with round one. The saiyan glances back at the previous match he started, grimacing. Still, he continues.
"In the Minor League we have Major Berry and... I'm not gonna even try to pronounce this."
Recommended NPC: U14 Robo-Articho. A weakened reconstruction of a particular Super Saiyan warrior. Despite being pure robot and nothing else, you can see some saiyan in this metallic man.
ROUND ONE of the Minor League's Multiversal Tournament has begun! Feel free to make your own NPC for this non-player combatant, use the one staff brainstormed, or simply skip the fight if you do not wish to write a solo. The max word count is 2000 words. If you skip, victory will be presumed against the recommended NPC for the sake of the visual bracket.
Major Berry landed on the field and looked at his robotic opponent. His blaster was prepped and ready. He hadn't fought a robot before, but he supposed it would be a first. The man in front of him didn't look like much either. He smiled and got into his combat stance. He was going to have fun with this one.
They waited for a bit as the android seemed to be waiting for him to make his move. They both looked each other in the eyes. While Articho looked more serious and determined, the officer had a slight smirk on his face. It was too quiet as the pair stood there, watching each other.
No one spoke. Talking was a foolish waste of breath in a fight. He was planning on conserving his air to use to fight.
Articho was the first to open his mouth. The wait must have been a little much, as it was a timed tournament. He didn't break his stance however and maintained stillness.
“So are-” He didn't get to finish his sentence as the air from his body left him, sent out after the leg of Berry had embedded itself in his gut. The cyborg’s eyes were wide with shock, his mouth agape with spit flying out of it. His dialogue was reduced to a single cough. The Berī, hovering in front of the droid with his knee still in his stomach, smiled down at his opponent. Slowly he brought up his blaster and fired a shot point blank. The robot flew backwards head first.
The assaulter touched back down to the ground and resumed his combat stance, his left arm positioned like a snake with its palm open and down and the other arm with his blaster close to his chest and aimed forward, tilted at a 90° angle. His body was an a 45° angle as opposed to a full perpendicular angle. His smile remained a smirk.
Articho, shrugging off the attack got up and took his own stance once more. There was some dirt and bruising on him, but he wasn't hurt.
“Lucky shot. That won't happen again.” His tone was clearly aggravated. That caused Berry to respond.
”You haven't messed with this power level too much, have you? I fully know my capabilities. That was a pretty light combo. I didn't even have to snap vanish.” His hand on his blaster opened and closed, extending outward and pulling in.
“Yeah it was a light combo. I barely felt the pain. It was where you hit that caught me off guard.”
The Major chuckled and stood still. He watched his opponent to see what he would do.
Articho, eager to show the ground off to his foe, lunged with the same speed as the other has before. However, Berry saw it coming and readjusted his left arm to clash with the forearm of the attacking alien. Firing off another blast Articho quickly dodged the damaging energy. That was when the fight began.
Blow for blow each was matched with a block or dodge. Neither opponent used their techniques while they tested each other. Berry, however, was only toying with the fighter. He was as predictable as machine with one core function. The soldier decided to turn it up a notch and fired another blast before launching himself backwards. Articho twitched and knocked the sudden kinetic attack away. He only got a glimpse of the U8 contestant before another shot took up his vision. He twisted out of the way, only to find more coming. Berry had just fired two bursts of the basic ki move, but it hadn't been expected by the enemy fighter.
Articho flew through the volley, knocking away the yellow balls with ease. Charging up a energy ball, he flung it at his opponent. The Humanoid ducked under snap vanishes away, reappearing under Articho with his blaster pressed against his chest, his other hand on the cannons. The robot looked wide eyed at the officer before Berry let off his 33% double galick cannon. Articho flew straight up, allowing him to continue his combo. The tan armored alien flew straight up and over the android, his fists cupped over his head. As Robo-Articho got close he smiled.
”Tell me how the dirt tastes.” He then brought the 33% charged sledgehammer down onto the back of the cyborg, flinging him at a high speed at the ground. Berry descended towards the crash site before stopping in front of the metal combatant. Articho slowly got on his hands, coughing the entire time.
”Did it taste good?” The soldier then brought up his blaster and out his left and on the side of it. He charged up a beam strike as Articho faced the armored man. He then fired right into the face of the defeated warrior, sending him crashing backwards. Berry made it a point and walked over to finish the opponent off with a heavy strike to the neck.
In his victory Major Berry of U8 put his arms out on both sides and looked up. He wasn't so much happy that the fight was over that quickly, but he was fine with a quick win if his opponent wasn't that strong.
