The night sky as dark, the atmosphere was cloudy.
On a night like this, only trouble could be brewing, but for a certain hybrid, it would be more.
The chilled basement was quiet as a Saiyan worked on his new project. The machine was small, grey ring with black design and 3 stand pieces to hold it together. In the center was a blue crystal-like shape that emitted a glow. Beside this small device resided one that looked exactly the same, but the crystal was purple. Together, the bonds of the crystals held a power that the Saiyan-Demon was trying to manipulate. Cerbris, the creature who wielded the plasma tool against this machine, took a sigh and pushed the device down his work table. Inspiration low and eyes heavy, he took a yawn, turning the tool off.
It’d been years. Years since he started this project to try and revolutionize travel across the universe. “Tonight is the night it does.” said the hybrid, under his breath. He looked at the blue device and pressed a button as it’s glow started to radiate. He picked up and slide it across the floor gently, landing about a foot away from a pile of boxes as an oval shape appeared, shining with a blue gleam. First portal was successful. Cerbris looked behind him at the work table, the purple device gleaming in almost excitement as the boy reached over and activated it, once again sliding it across the floor to a different location, right in front of a previous model of a bot he’d perfected at his office away from home.
The portal opened and nothing happen. “Extraordinary” he muttered, a grin growing. Now there was one last touch to add. The Demon Saiyan reached into his pocket and pulled out yet another crystal, orange in color, but this one was tiny. When Cerbris approached the blue device, he took a kneel and inserted the crystal in a small slot, connecting the two portals, a clear vision between the two. It looked a lot like that games “Gateway 2” by Valvivo. Everything was going really well… Now, for the test!
The Saiyan walked up to his work desk to find a small round fruit. A perfect test! Cerbris picked it up and faced his blue portal, preparing to throw. “1...2...3…” He threw the fruit, landing dead center as it flew through the other side, straight out of the purple portal and hitting the ground with a thud. Strange, he had expected it to hit the bot, but that’s just the portal angle, he assumed. With his most recent accomplishment a success, he turned himself to the portal. Would it work for him? For any other person that walked through it? There was only one way to find out.
The Saiyan walked himself to the blue spiral in front of him, looking over at the purple one. He could see himself! Some futuristic mirror He gave himself a chuckle and looked at his hand. They were shaking with excitement. His biggest success, almost completed. His father had doubted him previously, so did many of the Saiyan’s on Vegeta. Some said it was impossible, others said it would kill them upon entry, but he knew this was happening. This wasn’t transporting him as a vapor, as others theorized it would be, this was a normal walk way. Straight into another gate.
The Demon Saiyan took a deep breath. This was his moment. His time to shine. He’d show them all what is was to be a “nerd”. First, the Saiyan entered his arm into the portal. It was there… on the other side. Cerbris waved to himself, making him laugh a little. Had he always been this childish? The answer to that was an obvious YES. He leaned his torso in and saw himself, or half of himself anyways. His legs were there, holding on to the ground so he didn’t fall. It was strange, controlling something you saw, not connected to… Well, no, technically he was connected to it. Cerbris walked the rest of the way through and looked at himself…
He was alive.
A quivering smile formed and it was big. Today was the greatest achievement of his life. He had successfully transformed the future of travel! The Saiyan hybrid danced in circle, his excitement building up. Everything zoned out as he danced, ending it with a victory pose that brought him back to reality. When he came to, the blaring alarms sent him into distress. “What the fu-” He was cut short by the sound of vacuums and infinite space. The room around his become disproportional, everything morphing and bending out of shape. The portals were tearing away reality.
Cerbris eyes grew huge. He looked around, frantically searching for something to seal the portal. There was nothing but himself. The portals flew together and attached to each other, forming a two way portal to infinite space, the vacuum becoming flat instead of an open oval. The idea inspired him, the only idea that came to mind.
He covered the portals with his hands…
The nerd had been a Genius in his classes at the Academy. He had excelled every topic, study, combat training session they could throw at him. In fact, he had become second in command under Capper in the “Engineer’s Club” as Cerbris called it. With this, his knowledge allowed him to excel in just about everything he did.
This, though, was probably the stupidest idea he had ever had.
His palms felt like they were on fire. No, infinite needle. No, net even that. It was a pain worse than death. The boy screamed in pain, filling the newly silent basement with the screams of his torment, sending a sister busting through the door. “What the hell?!” Screamed Culu, staring at him with extreme concern, but the boy couldn’t hear her. Cerbris’ vision was red, his ears were deaf, and mouth was shredded from duration of the screaming. She looked at him and walked over, looking at the device in his hand, then snatched it away with some difficulty, the suction still at work.
Except, when it was removed, the portals were not active… They were on Cerbris’ hands. The void was not a vacuum, but it was an infinite space. ”Oh that’s soooo cool!” cheered the 14 year old, a big smile all across. Cerbris faked a smile, it was obviously painful but his sister didn’t care, this was a new thing to explore for her. The Demon Saiyan looked at his palms again. The pain was unbearable yet it was… healing itself? Just a moment ago it felt like there were holes in his hands and now… The portals were gone?!?
“This doesn’t make sense” The boy grabbed his head, developing an existential crisis. “Science doesn’t work like this! HOW does science work like this?!” He turned to his sister, hoping she had some sort of answer, but she just shrugged and took a happy pose. “I dunno, but we have GOT to test those out!” The boy wanted to scream. Cerbris couldn’t handle this much, yet he had been prepared for every possibility except this.
Culu grabbed the boy’s hand hand and dragged him up the stairs, arriving upstairs to the sound of different screams. “What the hell is with SCREAMING today?!” She shouted as she ran to the door, swinging it open to see a horned beast in the sky, raining hell onto the unsuspecting citizens of Vegeta. The demon in the sky turned towards the two and shot a beam towards the half demon girl, but was tackled out of the way. Her brother now stood in front of her, face stern and cold. “Dammit, today is not my day…” Cerbris looked at his sister with red eyes, the Makyo Star shining down on him with villainous light. “Let's get you to a pod”
The two conjoined hands and ran through the city, since they both lacked the ability of flight. Oh, that reminded him! He needs to build rocket boots so that he can do that… or maybe take some lessons from someone… it'd be better to learn flight then spend so much time making the boots but… it'd make a great attack!
Another crash slammed down next to the half demons, a building had fallen and nearly crushed him and brought Cerbris back to reality. “What is this?!?” screamed Culu, her eyes glowing red as she was debating on accepting the star, which Cerbris shook his head. “Don’t attack, they're out of our league” which only made Culu angrier. “Why the hell not?” “Because that building, the skyscraper? Just fell under their force. We can barely topple trees!”
The brother pulls his sister's arm as he took her to cover, a black flame shooting through the area. This was one hell of an invasion… it wasn't anything he'd seen or heard of before, so what was this madness? Culu pulled on Cerbris’ arm as he peaked around the corner. There was a Majin in a dark cloak, producing the flames as she screamed. “Cerbris! Look!” His sister had been trying to gather his attention to the approaching Saiyans who had their guns active. In fact, the model was one that he had created. What an honor! And now the soldiers were taking aim…
At Cerbris.
“No, wait, what are you doing?!” The officers looked at each other, then back at the two half demons.
“You’re under arrest for the destruction of Cacumber City!”
Culu looked really offended at this, growling at the Saiyan. “You think WE did this?!” The Saiyans nodded and eyed the girl, the same one speaking up. “Two demons causing destruction on the city. It only made sense that I'd be you two!” Now it was Cerbris' turn to be angry. “Officers, you must understand that as we are half demon, we are not the ones responsible. The ones you're looking for are-” Cerbris was cut short by a red beam aimed for his shoulder, which he managed to dodge with a split second.
“Shut up and die, maggots!” Cerbris and Culu took fighting stances, both distinctly different. The brother looked down at his sister. “Culu, get out of here and get to the pods, I’'ll handle this…” “But-” Cerbris pulled out “The Eye”. The Eye was the look he gave Culu when he was dead serious on something, an immediate sign to shut up and do. The Half Saiyan let out a groan as she took off, leaving the Boy to the Saiyan’s and his creations.
Cerbris jumped up, grabbing the wall he was beside and jumped off of it, tackling a saiyan in white armor and tossing him over Cerbris’ body. The body of the Saiyan went flying into a wall, leaving Cerbris to 4 more with guns at the ready. They all fired at once, aiming for his heart and landing successfully, sending a short end to Cerbris.
Everything went quiet for a moment.
Everything was on pause.
An officer in blue walked up and kicked the body of Cerbris, smirking. “Target down. Let's get the other one.” Suddenly, with those words, the body twitched. Then stood up. The dead was walking among them, except he was never dead. Cerbris smiled as his purple eyes were now shining in the dark. “Next time you shoot it, make sure it's on kill and not stun…”
What came out of the shadows was barely the figure of Cerbris. Sure, the facial features were alike, but his teeth bared huge fangs, his eyes were a mix of crimson red and midnight purple. His skin was a darker tone of purple, his fingers possessed sharp claws, his ears as sharp as blades. This was not the Engineer from before. This was a monster. “Now, you shall get what you deserve…”
Before the Saiyans could react, one had three claw marks indented past their clothes and into their skin, nearly killing Saiyan. He should be happy though, when he recovers, he'll be even stronger than before! The remaining officers took head of the Hybrid’s advice and set the blasts on their arms to “Kill”, firing away at the beast before them but failing to even pierce his skin.
“How dare you even THINK about killing my sister!” A mighty backhand sent the officer in blue into the dirt, the remaining two looking at each other in concern, nodding, then retreating. A Saiyan? Retreating? Talk about lost honor… and as much as the Demon Saiyan wanted to let them go, he simply couldn't without revenge. So with a bit of instinct, he held his palms forward, the portals opening as a familiar figure flies out.
Asriel had appeared with the same anger.
The ram skull’s mouth started to glow with rainbow light, opening up to a beam of light, striking down the commander and his comrade. An easy kill, yet he'd held back to only knock them out. He was a beast, not a monster. Cerbris looked at the sky, the Makyo Star still shining bright. He needed to get out of it’s beams. Lucky for him, he’d untransform on the run to the Escape Pods.
The run was longer than he expected and the lines were huge. To think that these many Saiyans were ready to leave planet. They should’ve known that if they were going to attempt to rule the universe, the universe would fight make. Cerbris looked around for his sister. Certainly she couldn’t have gone far… Just when he thought she’d managed to get on a ship, a hand touched his back… No, wait that’s not a touch that’s a grab!
Cerbris was yanked down as his sister climbed on his back and hugged his neck. “Don’t ever leave me again, nerd!” The Demon brother smirked and rolled his eyes. “Oh, now I’m back to nerd status?” His sister giggled and yanked on his hair a little too hard, but he was used to it. “You have portals in your hands and build giant robots for a living.” Culu smirked happily. “You’re totally a giant nerd.” Technically, he used to make robots for a living but now was not the time to sorrow.
The two managed to laugh off the sad reality outside that everything was falling apart. When the two finally boarded a ship for Earth, the looked at each other and laid out a plan…
The first step was to find Capper...
