Matt was running towards the city, finally shedding the leafy embrace that was considered to be a shirt, pulling fabric above his head. He pulled it down onto himself, a short sleeve black shirt given to him by Kevin, the construction site supervisor. Pulling the bottom of the shirt down as far as it could go to make sure it was fully unfurled he ran down the sidewalk of the city, dodging people very nimbly, once even jumping above and using his tail to swing from a store's sign which extended out from a pole to jump over a wave of teenagers.
Getting to the Pizza place, which was called Pizza Crash he paused, taking one gulp before stepping through the doors. The interior was clean and pretty, the wall being beige and speckled with bright red-pink paint splatters for aesthetic. A voice called out to greet him, a hardworking woman who was kneading the dough next to other workers who were working quickly and efficiently on the make line. "Hello! Welcome to Pizza Crash, where your taste buds will be having a crash from the cascade of flavor!" She jubilantly spoke, though it was more out of necessity. her hair was pulled up into a ponytail extending all the way to her lower back, and a few hairs of her bangs hung low on her face from her really giving it her all working on the dough diligently and quickly. "What can I help you with?" she raised one eyebrow, dusting her hands to get off the flour the best she could as she walked up to an electronic pad.
Mattenes' throat caught, trying his best to not be nervous he squeaked out a quiet "Im here for the interview?" It almost sounded like if he was asking if it was alright. She in response blinked, cocking her head to the side and nodding "Oh! Right! My brother talked about you! I'm the manager here, follow me to the back!" She said, looking to her workers "I'll be back, have Jimmy knead." and with that she took one step turning, and twirled to the direction she was going in, using the flour on the floor to make it easier to do so. Matt smiled and followed her to the back, which she plopped down her rump on her chair, pulling one leg over the other. "Okay! So, The gist I got from my brother is that you really wanna work! You're willing to work hard, and you've got some abilities like flight right?" To which Mattenes nodded numbly, trying not to look like a goofball but inevitably doing so in the process.
She turned and mulled over a bit, her expression hidden from matt, as she put her feet up on her desk. She pulled out a piece of paper and read through it once before addressing him, not turning to him, however, "I can give you a few days of temporary employment, buuuuut. Unless you get a place to stay at, I cant keep you employed. Do you understand? Cause we'll need an address to mail to, got it?" She asked, sliding a piece of paper to him. It was a signature of temporary employment. He signed it immediately- and well, sloppily. In return, she gave him a smile and nodded "alright! I have an extra uniform lined up for you, i'll run you down how a delivery works, as that's what you'll be doing, and you'll do a run to see how you do!" She said, motioning for him to get changed in the employee bathroom.
Getting changed Matt walked to the office, to not see her there. However she was in the back, she called to him "over here!" She waved just in his peripheral for him to turn and run over. With her she had a pizza box and a pizza bag. "Alright, so you see you'll be delivering this to the address that we give you! Most just buy it through card so chances are they'll just sign, but if they give cash you have to do some money math" She began explaining the situation for about an hour, going through tips of money counting, general kindness and such. Eventually, she handed the box bagged in the pizza bag to matt and smacked his shoulder lightly "This is an ex-employee's pizza and they were willin' to wait a bit, plus they're weirdly loving of lukewarm pizza. So! Go get em tiger!"
Matt shivered from the slap and nodded, running right out the door, and jumping into the air, immediately his aura flared to life as he sped right towards the address. When he got there, he walked to the door, knocked twice and stood idly. When the person came out, they thanked Mattenes for the pizza, signed a slip and gave a few hints before sending him off. Coming back to the store, he saw a driver run out, and someone who ran out just as quick as Matt could fly! Matt blinked, noticing the runner had green skin and antennae. "Huh! cool!" he walked inside, only to be given another bag of three pizza's. His manager, looking rather flustered explained "ok, you have to do three-run, these three pizza's go to three different homes, the slips will tell you which" She handed him three slips "Sorry I gotta load you up with this, but we got slammed cause of a party, you got it tiger?"
Matt nodded shakily and ran right back out the door, feeling a sense of incoming fatigue that he was going to be feeling at the end of the day at this rate. He smiles though and looks through the slips. [Right! It's time that I try that technique!] He thought to himself. He'd mulled over the words of the supervisor talking about how he needed to be so quick that it was like he was in multiple places at once. He believed he could do something similar and even tried a technique that when he practiced had... mixed results. Though! Trial by fire seemed to be when Matt shone in his potential. He focused on himself, trying to split his energy, in the form of another self. He felt more and more exhausted, but... this was how he proved he'd be worth employment! His body finally split into two matts. He handed two pizza's to one, and one clone carried the other pizza. They nodded to each other and sped off into the distance, with the manager chuckling a bit holding her head "hooo... this day might not be so crazy thanks to this kid"
The day passed by with his work, by the end he was matted with a light sweat, and it had turned dark. His boss walked to his side and smiled "Good job Tiger! I'll get you your payment for today" She turned, but added a "You're really somethin' Tiger." And with that she walked to her office
Matt sat down on the ground, resting a bit. He still had to fly back to the forest, so that... was going to be fun. but this was exhilarating.
