AN ALTERNATIVE DYSTOPIAN UNIVERSE OF WORLD OF DRAGONBALL: SOULS - DARKENED HOME OF CHAI SCHALA |
The fifth realm of the multiverse is perhaps one of the darker ones in existence. In this universe, Bing Gan was not raised by his father. Instead, his mother kidnapped him at a young age, raising him as a harsh opportunist, and a nearly villainous person. He grew quicker in strength, resulting in a Bing that rivaled Super Saiyan's at a much younger time in his life. He quickly left his home when he reached the age of 17, where he began hearing word of some upstart army called the Blue Banner. During the battle of West City, where Vipoi attempted to overthrow the Earth's government, Bing Gan arrived at the scene. Alongside Vi-poi, the Bio-Android Reikiko fell in West City, breaking down the chain of command in the BBA, and leaving them in shambles.
The battle was a close one, definitely too close. If the Earth's defenders were going to have this much trouble with warriors on the home front, they'd need to do something about it. Bing unified the Earth's warriors under one glorious, bloody banner. He quickly rose to become the Earth's leader due to his immense charisma. With Bing's leadership and strength, none could withstand the Earth's power. Both the Saiyan and Arcosian empires quickly fell under his boot. With an entire galaxy in his hand, the tyrant known as Bing rests comfortably.
Only remnants of rebellions remain fighting in this realm, with each attempt at freeing the universe from Earth's iron grip becoming less and less successful. This Rebellion, the Crimson Strikers, was led by Kaula for a short while. The Strikers were a dying ember of hope in the doomed world. Kaula perished at the president's hands in a bloody battle, leaving a certain goat warrior, Chai, to take the wheel. Chai found the blueprints for a universe-hopping machine in an abandoned barn while out hunting for materials, and brought the plans back to base. His command was much more stealthy and guerrilla than Kaula's attack mode. Filled with hopes for freedom, the Rebellion successfully built the machine. Rumors of the machine escaped and reached Etoru's ears, and the saiyan hybrid told Bing about the rumored machine. Not good.
Soon enough, the Special Forces uncovered the Crimson Striker Rebellion's base, and stormed it in hopes of taking the machine for their own use. Chai and Co. fought valiantly, but fell. Defrosch took out Chai's right eye, leaving the goat to die. Chai could only watch on as many of his friends perished, while others still met an even worse fate. Still having some fight in him, the goat limped into and used the universe-hopper, escaping by the skin of his teeth to a distant world, much to the Z-Fighters' dismay... But this all begs the question- what now for this doomed realm?
тнe ғιғтн world'ѕ ғιgнтerѕ | ALL-POWERFUL GALACTIC TYRANT The ruthless, cold-hearted tyrant who rules this universe. His power rests at a level that rivals even a Super Saiyan 3. Though he could become stronger, he's yet to realize the potential he has left to unlock. Bing was not raised by his father in this world, instead being taken and raised by his mother as a cold-hearted and harsh idealist, with plenty of power to back up his ideals.
He fought Vi-Poi and Reikiko in the Battle of the Using his charisma and leadership, the human became the leader of the Earth- no, the entire galaxy he soon conquered with the aid of the ESF. While not seen as a villain by all, you really don't want to be on this guy's hit list.

| TWISTED ARCOSIAN OVERLORD Standing at a fork in the road, at the young age of 14, Defrosch tricked his father Sleete to let down his guard and killed him in cold blood out of rage and panic instead of running away. This action sent him down an ominous and dark path, one where he would grow into a deceitful liar and a vile crook, with a gentle and helpful façade to cover up his truly ruthless and cunning intentions, he rose to power in the Arcosian Empire's security; learning about science and mechanics in a vastness most would not hope to reach, and with it he began a very special mysterious project... He also took to training tirelessly in secret, keeping his raw power hidden from all prying eyes... At the age of 21, he intercepted a broadcast from Earth without any semblance of effort really needed on his part.
The broadcast happened to be from President Gan, keeping it to himself because he saw an opportunity. Defrosch offered his services to the similarly charismatic tyrant, promising to decimate the AE from the inside. Defrosch did so by unleashing his secret project; D.E.T.H B.O.R.G-- Deceased Exploited Terror Homonculi: Biomechanically Overridden and Reconstructed Generals-- beings of terrifying power power while Bing's forces came in stealthily. Combined, this savage duo and their legions were able to quickly take down the Arcosian's strongest forces in the first battle. Though nowhere near the President's strength, Defrosch himself is by no means a slouch and is still the stuff of nightmares.

| A young Saiyan by the name of Etoru. He came to Bing hoping to dissuade him from doing evil, but did little good. Instead of simply killing the boy, Bing took him under his wing, teaching him the ways of the Serpent Style. Etoru was one of the first to catch ear of the rumored Universe-travelling machine the Crimson Strikers were supposedly preparing. He hesitantly told Bing about it, sending the universe down an even darker route- for now.

| EX-QUEEN OF SAIYANS AND MOTHER The once-proud leader of Vegeta, Zucceta led her people for barely a few months before the Earth's Special Forces knocked her door down. She also successfully had and raised her child in this world. She rallied her people valiantly, but alas, it was all for naught. The only reason she still lives is due to Bing's interest in her strength despite lacking a Super Saiyan transformation. Though she is reluctant to assist the tyrant, she has little choice; disobeying Bing would mean the death of her child, after all. Like her Universe 8 counterpart, she knows the False Moon ability. It may be her saving grace against some of the tougher opponents out there... For now, the "queen" reluctantly serves Bing, for her child's safety.

| TENTATIVE ALLY OF THE SPECIAL FORCES Wyntre was similar to her main universe counterpart. Another former leader of one of the universes grand empires, Wyntre's Arcose fell just as quickly, if not quicker than Vegeta. She serves mostly as a diplomat, hoping to find alternatives to bloodshed for the worlds Bing sets his sights on.
While she doesn't show it, she harbors a deep hatred for her oppressor. She had achieved the Royal Form in secret and hopes to take over Bing's dominion in order to peacefully dissolve it back into what it was like before. But, she has another secret. Zexama, radically different in this timeline, was summoned and made by Arcosian scientists to serve the Arcosian Empire. After the fall, she has been hoping to use the serious, stupendously-powerful, adult Majin in her planned coup. But, until then, she remains a faithful servant, reluctantly obedient.

| THE MECHANIZED GHOST PEPPER U5's Chili Pepper has lead a much different life. Where the main Universe's Chili has grown up without his father for most of his life his counterpart lost his mother at a young age along with his humanity.
Commander Pepper was a officer within the Earth military with a loving family. His wife and their son bringing much joy to his life until fate would turn on the happy three. In a terrible car accident that would leave his mother dead Chili was mangled to shreds. Barely holding onto life before making it to a hospital and trapped within a coma. His body was destroyed bones shattered and nerves severed even if he did wake up he would not be the same boy. It was around this time the BBA would take over all the defense forces for the Planet Earth, and Commander Pepper chosing not to join up with the Galactic Patrol, would instead enlist under the Blue Banner in order to stay on Earth with his son, with all that was left in his life.
The briefly active BBA offered him this opportunity along with an option. Blue Banner had advanced technology that was not accessible to most of Earth, even more advanced then the military before it. Eventually Com. Pepper would approach the head of the Research and Development Head within the BBA, asking him for a favor. He would donate his son's still somewhat functional body for their research, that is if they could promise to save him and bring his boy back. A contract was formed and the crumpled body of Chili Pepper was transported to BBA HQ, down into it's depths.
True to their word the scientists were able to fix Chili with new medical procedure and technology His consciousness was regained his body fixed and his father was over joyed. He had gotten his son back, but now there was still a debt to pay. Joy was short lived here, his son was alive and well but was now owned by this organization, which had to be explained to the boy. Chili Pepper knew the pain in his father's eyes, he knew that he wanted him to be happy again and so he put on a strong face and resigned to his fate. If all he had to do was cooperate with them then he could bring joy back into his family's lives.
Unfortunately joy was not in the programming of a machine.
Chili would find himself under the knife frequently his body was augmented to grow faster then slow the aging process. His limbs and skull replaced with steel. Upgrades onto his body, now able to do things that before would be inconceivable. He was made into their monster, their perfect soldier, breaking his Father's heart.
He had wanted his son back but not in this way not in this fashion, where his humanity was destroyed. The researchers assured the Commander he would have his son back, they had one final programming session to install that would make Chili Pepper, now renamed 'Project Ghost', completely subservient to The BBA and any officials. However just before this could be entered Bing Gan would attack.
The BBA destroyed and splintered Chili was left in the bowels of the HQ. His father died in an attempt to protect the building from it's invaders, desperate to protect his son this time. Bing would find this new Android here, Ghost Pepper a rapidly aged hulking machine dog, ready for his master.

| PACIFISTIC, LOST STRIKER LEADER The second leader of the Crimson Striker Rebellion. Chai valiantly led the Rebellion after Kaula died, and found the deceased Capper's plans for a universe-hopping time machine. He used the plans to build the machine, and successfully escaped to another universe by the skin of his teeth. Chai is a merciful soul and a big fuzzy pushover. He can be rather mysterious to others due to his unease to share just about anything about himself. While usually stoic and emotionless, Chai can show a heck of a lot of emotion when he lowers his guard and lets others see his true self. With his snarky and knowledgeable demon-in-a-sword for a partner, Guardia, the two make a rather formidable team. He still feels very guilty for leaving his friends behind in Universe 5...
|
|
| CHAI'S BESTIE AND VALIANT STRIKER Another fighter that Chai befriended and brought to fight in the Crimson Striker's forces. Collan is one of Chai's closest friends, and his sparring partner. Both warriors knew each other for quite a long time, Chai knew Collan even before he met Guardia.
This Collan behaves much like the Collan we all know and love from the World of Dragonball Souls. He wants to be a hero someday, and joined the Rebellion in hopes of fulfilling his dream. Both Chai and Collan will gladly rush to each other's defense, no matter how strong the opposing force may be. Chai views Collan to be a hero already, and the two earthling fighters commonly spar to test each other's mettle and strength, helping each other improve.
The white-haired warrior met a terrible fate when he nearly perished on the battlefield on the rebels' home base, though- one far worse than the peace of death.

| In Universe 5, Rafar was much stronger at the beginning of his story than he was in this universe, due to one small factor. His mother died in war, not in childbirth, causing his father Celrath to become a Super Sayian, and therefore a more valued member of the SSE. These two facts, of course, incentivized Rafar to train harder and harder. His father helped in any way he could, and since he lasted longer in this timeline, they had more time to spar. It even got to a point where his father would take him on conquests not as a observer, but a useful lieutenant!
Unfortunately, Celrath could not escape his fate for long. His growing influence caused him to meet a similar fate, though a much more drawn-out one. Dozens of jealous warriors swarmed the family's house, all howling for Celrath's head. However, in this instance, Rafar fought as well, even managing to take out a couple of elites before he was swarmed under.
A few hours after he was presumed dead, Rafar rose from the piles of bodies, only to see his father's still form. Grief-stricken, he fought the warriors who took his father from him, sadly to no avail. There was simply too many, and even with his lucky discovery of the False Super Sayian State, he was beaten brutally.
Arriving on Earth in a similar way to his counterpart, he was able to slaughter the robot SR-81 when they fought, due to power gained from his zenkai boost, and even managed to give Breech a run for his money. Once again however, he was forced to flee and began to wander the Earth, hungering for a rematch with his father's killers.
The young Sayian had much more....personal incentive to go after the strike squad, and spent a lot of time training an honing his skills, not giving himself the long breaks that his counterpart alllowed. Before he could return to Vegeta, he learned of it's subjugation through regime broadcasts, and the deaths of Zarak's squad. Right then and there, his potential was unleashed in a blinding flash of golden light, and a self-pitying howl.
Rafar's personal quest at revenge had, in his eyes, lead to the destruction of his race and culture. Feeling guilty, he blindly signed up with the resistance, fighting hard against the regime that had taken his life and it's purpose away. Rafar grew to be a powerful and well-respected warrior. Along with his partner and best friend, Collan, he participated in hundreds of raids and tactical strikes, killing every ki-user that dared stand against the rebellion! He soon met the Zoan fighter known as Chai, and grew to respect the warrior.
In this universe, Rafar is a lot more cold towards his foes and anyone he considers untrustworthy, showing little mercy. In his Super Sayian form, he nearly goes berserk. To his friends in the rebellion, he is gruffer than our universe's Rafar would be.
He fought valiantly at the invasion of the Striker's last holdout, but his fate is left unknown.

| VIOLENT JINKOUMAN RENEGADE In this universe, due to the more aggressive stance that the Earth had taken, the Saiyans felt more pressured to act against the Earth. A saiyan scientist was even driven to rush his production of Saibamen seeds, feeling that at any moment Planet Vegeta would fall as President Bing Gan was a force to be reckoned with, having to forego another year of preparations.
Rushing to Earth, the scientist still planned to create an army of Saibamen on the fertile soil of the Earth. However, as he neared the planet, his space pod was shot out of the sky by one of the Earthling Anti-Pod artillery weapons. His pod blowing up, most of the Saibaman seed had incinerated, except for a stray few. One in particular growing up in a river bed.
However, instead of a normal saibaman or the current universe's tennenman popping out of the ground, a Jinkouman of all things popped out of the ground. The Monochrome saibaman travelled to a nearby building, in which an old man helped raise the new creature whom he lovingly named EGG. Despite shaky beginnings, the two of them had a really great life, living in the middle of nowhere, watching movies, tend to the farms outside, and even practice bits of the old man's special Armadillo School Fighting Style.
However, one day the Monochrome Jinkouman was told to go into the forest and gather berries and fruits, as he was dealing with the city folk who was buying his grown goods. Being the good natured person he was, EGG travelled to the forest to do such a thing.
When he returned, EGG had found that the farm and the home was in flames, as the people he had been dealing with learned of saibamen found in the nearby area. They assumed the Old Man was growing an army to assist the rebels, thus destroying whatever vegetables still growing and the old man in the process. Stricken with grief, EGG went on a rampage against the remaining soldiers whom burnt down the building. The monochrome Jinkouman, in his rage, took the lives of the people and even prematurely tapped into one of his transformations, becoming a five foot eight inch tall plant person with a humanoid body.
Tears streaming down his face, EGG took the cloak of one of the deceased soldiers, wearing it as a cape as he was going to be the hero this world needed... One who would help the rebels try and overthrow the corrupt Bing Gan.
Meeting up with the rebels, EGG had met up with the rebels and started helping out the good fight against President Bing Gan. Eventually EGG had met up with an interesting Goat person whom he became good friends with, sharing stories of heroism that he remembered watching off of the TV before he took part of this bloody revolution. And, despite being almost exactly the same personality wise as the current universe's EGG, Jinkouman EGG was more vicious and brutal in his apprehension of the soldiers of the Bing Gan regime, sometimes going as far as murder them. This EGG was scorned by these soldiers because of the loss of his Old Man, and that scar still tore deep in his heart.
Then came the day when the Special Forces had found the Crimson Striker's base, just on the cusp of the Universe hopping machine's completion. Seeing that he had to make the ultimate sacrifice for a good cause, EGG decided to do the one thing he swore he would never do.
Exiting the base, he attempted to fight the forces on his own, him being completely overwhelmed and outnumbered. EGG then broke his promise as his body started exhuming ki at an excessive rate, his entire body becoming volatile. The people he was fighting had little idea that the creature they were fighting was a saibaman, due to his appearance, but they soon realized their folly as in mid fight, EGG made the ultimate sacrfice, blowing himself up along with a couple of the Special Force members... Sadly though, his sacrifice was not enough, as the stronger members of the Special forces still lived through his massive self-destruction.
Thankfully, however, his sacrifice was not entirely in vain, as he bought enough time for the machine to be completed and for Chai to escape into an alternate reality.

| EX-Z FIGHTER, NEWFOUND REBEL In this darker reality, Tulip’s conception and birth was the same as the original timeline. Where it shifted was the arrival of the Saiyan scouts. Instead of bargaining with Tulip’s father, they immediately went after Plum, the runaway Saiyan. She was killed by the Saiyan Scout protecting her child, and the father immediately changed his attitude. Swearing revenge on the entire Saiyan race that stole his wife from him. He left his daughter alone with a nearby orphanage to set out alone in order to achieve revenge. He returned 4 years later, when Tulip was only6 years old. He was only a shadow of his former self, left crippled by his battle against the SSE. He still swore revenge, focusing his passion on the only thing he had left: his daughter. Knowing that she was the combination of human and Saiyan, he focused all of his effort into forging her into a blade to wipe out the Saiyan race.
The training was extremely severe, forcing the girl to her utter limits. Through this constant abuse and the teaching of techniques through physical contact, she quickly became more powerful. Her mind was forced to the brink of insanity time and time again, as her father constantly pushed her to the edge of death. She didn’t complain throughout the training, dwelling entirely on the fact that she was still with her family.
One day, when her father went into town to get groceries, while she was focusing on training, she found her father’s journal. What she saw inside scarred her forever. The relationship Tulip thought she had with her father didn’t exist in his eyes. In fact, she was only a stepping stone. He was devising a technique to steal her energy for himself. When her father returned, she challenged him to a fight for her freedom.
In the ensuing battle, the girl was beat nearly to death. Her father tried to use the technique, screaming that her life was his to use as he saw fit. This betrayal, mixed with the agony, let her activate the next level of strength. It wasn’t a true Saiyan transformation, but something much more shattered.
A transformation that had been in her father's blood, but he had never discovered. Using her newfound strength, she defeated her father in combat. When she offered to let him live, he fired the soul-stealing technique in her face. Despite her life and power being stolen, the girl managed to maintain her foothold. She punched through his chest before the technique completed, instantly killing the man. Due to the influence of her father's technique and her own, desperate attack, the girl's hair had turned silver. Collapsing in the mud outside her house, the girl struggled to stay alive. Death was her only companion during that time, trying to suck her into its warm embrace. The grey aura that had been her strength was now the only companion she had left, keeping her injured body alive.
When she finally healed enough to go eat food, she found herself surrounded by the law enforcement of her planet. She was accused of murdering her father in cold blood, despite her injuries, due to his rumors he had been spreading. She managed to discover the worn Saiyan pod, which the girl used as she fled the planet a murderer. She slept on the trip to whatever planet the Pod was set to go to.
It took her to Earth, where she joined the Planet’s defense force. She used her newfound transformation to destroy the enemies she was sent against. It got to the point she was known as the Silver Slayer, due to her hair and the strength she held in battle. After an operation where she destroyed an entire clan, she realized the truth. When she came back with questions, the men she had served alongside turned against her and tried killing her. Tulip realized then she was only a tool for the government. Breaking away from the government, she sought out the Crimson Striker Resistance she had fought against for over a year. In order to face her fears and try to open a new page in her life, one as a free woman living by her own accord.

| CHAI'S FELLOW EDGELORD AND FRIEND There were a two real factor's that played into Bell's development from universe 5. Whereas The normal bell was angered incredibly easily and had a grumpy, impulsive, and rude attitude, universe five's Bell had none of those qualities. The first irregularity with universe five's bell was that, in an almost cliche matter, Bell was dropped on his head as a child. This event caused Bell's demeanor to change completely from what it would have been, causing Bell to be an extremely charismatic, caring, and generally happy and joking young soul. Another irregularity soon popped up as well, Because for whatever reason, Young Bell's parents were also alot more caring than they would've been, sticking around the house on their home planet of Shikk and occasionally playing around with Bell. In the normal timeline, Bell's parents were always off training, always leaving bell's heran grandpa to care for Bell on his humble farmstead.
Now, Bell's grandpa did train bell in the original timeline, however due to having to care for a farm, it wasn't very frequent. With the now frequent arrivals of Bell's parents, Bell had alot more chances to train, causing him to be stronger, if only slightly more than his alternate universe self would've been. This brief, but happy time for Bell was short-lived however, as across the galaxy, an evil tyrant marched towards Vegeta. Bing had soon set his sights on the SSE, destroying it and killing many of its soldiers. Among those killed were Bell's grandpa, Bell's father, And Bell's mother. The brief war had taken everything from Bell, and even this kind soul wasn't gonna stand for that. Bell stole a pod from one of the occupying soldiers of shikk and headed for earth, intent with killing the tyrant who had attacked him and his family. When he arrived however, he was stopped by a fellow rebel. this rebel could sense Bell's rage and instead of letting him go and get himself, offered bell to join the revolution and their cause. Bell, reluctantly agreed, putting aside his hate for bing momentarily as he was led to the Crimson Striker Base. There, bell had a much better opportunity to grow in strength, which he gladly took. Over the next few months, Bell would gradually get to know his fellow revolutionaries, slowly recovering from the death of his family and returning to his old self, as well as get to watch alot of cheesy comedy films.
These (for good or bad) created a reflex in Bell where he'd involuntarily say something cheesy after doing some menial task. Like say, he's taking care of a bunch of cats, he'd come back 2 hours later and be like "well that was a hairy situation" or something unfunny like that. Or say he's taking out the trash, he'll probably be like "its time to take out the trash!" in a deep gritty voice, then wait like 10 seconds to actually pick up the trash bags before leaving the room. he'd also spent alot more time training, whether it be with friends or on his own, a major difference from how the normal Bell seeing as he treated training as a chore. Anyways, safe to say that bell's presence really helped liven up the mood in the Strikers base. One day however, Bing had gotten information on the whereabouts of the base. After a long and bloody battle, Bell was knocked out and dragged off by a few fleeing rebels. He'd wake up a few hour's later, his cool cloak he'd gotten as a gift from the rebels tattered, as well as his tail completely gone. he'd see the bloodied corpses of many of his friends, as well as many more injured.
He walk off from the medical site to the protest of some of the medical attendants, a quick and sudden depression hitting him as flashes of anger and sadness begun to tackle him. he'd experience flashbacks of his family's death, remembering the sadness they wrought. he remembered his one true goal, the death of the tyrant, Bing. Deep in the forest at this point, Bell would collapse, letting out cries of sadness as tears streamed down his face. His hair would turn a bright yellow, spiking up in a wavy fashion as a yellow aura appeared unbeknownst to Bell (as he was still a sad pipper at this point). With one final yell, bell's hair would cement its form and his aura would explode outwards into a jagged and rough look. He'd later return with his newly discovered power, a newfound resolve within him as he decided to continue his fight against Bing, in hopes that all those who died at the striker base would not die in vain.

Rhytid fled to Earth afterwards, seeking whatever help he could get, and soon got into contact with the remnants of the Crimson Strikers. He quickly gre to be a valuable member, since Rhytid is among the only in the group of rebels that had knowledge of Namek, and knew of the Dragonballs. Yet this was information he refused to share, afraid of the terrible things that could happen if they got into the wrong hands. Nevertheless, Rhytid continues to be a valued member of the Strikers, training both himself as well as other members so that they may someday reclaim peace. Universe 5 Sansho: The Lord of Demons
Not much has changed for Sansho's early life in Universe 5 from his original counterpart. The demon was created just as he was in Universe 8, through powerful magics and rituals from Ashura's grand wizards. Through mastery of demonic power, dark alchemy, and the blood of fallen—and sacrificed—demons, Sansho was created. The only difference between this Sansho's creation was the lack of a human spirit—Ashura had deemed in unnecessary to breed his most powerful warrior; only demon might and magic tenfold would be required. It was this decision that would change the course of his destiny.
Like his Universe 8 counterpart, this Sansho was raised in an environment of violence and savagery that even he was not exempt from. When he was tasked with fighting others for the amusement of the crowd and his master, simple victory was not enough. Every opponent he fought was left for dead, and would have been so if it was not for his "trainers" restraining him after every bout, usually through excessive force.
When Universe 8's Sansho would be left to starve after failure, Universe 5's never did. Whenever he would be left without food for extended periods, the demon would feast on the flesh of his own brothers and sisters, consuming them and absorbing their power to satisfy his hunger for both. Without his human spirit, the demon felt no compassion, no empathy, for others, even those he considered family—if this Sansho ever considered them family in the first place.
Sansho broke from his prison and murdered the Daimao's grand wizards, just as his original had done. When he went to face the demon king himself, things changed dramatically. Unlike his original, he did not feel fear of the man before him. With no human spirit to keep the demon in check, only vengeance and bloodlust saturated his mind and soul. With the power of his siblings in his veins, he fought and beat Ashura in a bloody match. And he claimed the title of ruler for himself.
This Sansho did not seek the release from the demon realm. Instead, he would be its conqueror. His kingship saw his territory grow and expand the likes of which had never been seen before, and perhaps never again. Those who were met with his titanic hordes of demonic might and steel were left with two choices: bend the knee in servitude, or die in agony. The vast majority chose the former.
The decades of time spent in the demon realm empowered him greatly, more so than his Universe 8 original. The countless time spent in battle and wars, his fights against other aspiring demon kings, and the ever-flowing demonic energy of the realm that poured into his veins made him one of the most powerful entities to walk upon the plane.
And when his conquest of the demon realm is over, then the living world would be next…
