So I've been thinking, especially as more new members have joined, that a simple thread stating things such as which factions own which planets, whom is allied with whom, who is at war with whom, might be useful for new members to get a feel for the state of each major faction. I leave it to you all to judge this idea.

Those only are updated every so often

I'm brand-spanking new so, please, let me lend some clout to the above: yes.
Something like what's been suggested would be wonderful. I understand that it would add overhead -- as in, work needing to be done to keep it up to date -- but I firmly believe it'd be worth that cost. Judging by the community here, I'm sure a few volunteers could be found. I really cannot overstate how immensely useful this would be to me.

The only problem I can see with this, is that right now, quite a few of the planets are playing musical chairs with who's in charge of them xD So the moment it got updated to say one faction, another one will have rolled on in and taken it over for themselves, or would be in the process of doing so.

Could be useful, but we also have the plot line too. Then again, that isn't always up to date.

Wanna know what I think? Make a new mod who does literally just that. Update the history. They don't need to grade threads. They don't need to add items to people's inventories. All they gotta do is update who owns arcose every ten seconds.

Could be useful, but we also have the plot line too. Then again, that isn't always up to date. Considering the RED ECLIPSE is still a fucking faction listed at the bottom of the home page, I would agree.

I'm getting the impression that Red Eclipse is old news, huh?
The name was just campy enough to be something Toriyama would write, too!
Points to whoever made the Blue Banner name, by the way!
But, yes! Coming from the perspective of a new player, there appear to be some understandable and standing organizational issues. Someone dedicated to cleaning stuff like that up would be wonderful.

I agree that this could be a lot of extra work considering the aggressiveness of the empires right now, but I really think it will help everyone have a rough idea of who owns what. As for the plot line, it is true that that also gives a similar description, but it is usually a while after the events. Then again, I will defer to Etoru on this, as he is former staff, and probably knows about that better than me.
As for the potential plot mod, that is a separate suggestion altogether, and one above my pay grade.

I do agree organizing the stuff to whom owns what would give people, both new and old would be good, but putting a new moderator who's job is to just manage and compile that would not be very possible.
Also, some factions choose to keep stuff in secret, such as SCAR or my Devil's Knight's Faction on the Alaistair account.
What can be done:
1- A thread is made that staff can post in but is viewable in the announcements by all players. This kept up bi-monthly and shows who has presence and where. How can also be specified via a separate showing HOW they are controlling it, for knowledge OOCly speaking or IC, if the player choose to go learn about this readily made information.
2- Create an inactive and active faction set of sub boards in the faction area. This would clean up some of the congestion that we are seeing in the faction profile area.

Thanks for chipping in Pieter, your suggestion sounds fine to me. The thread would be strictly for OOC anyway.

why can't said factions just do this to their own thread that's literally dedicated to the things about their factions? Faction Leaders! With the arrival of Faction Banks, it is to be required that you include a link to your faction's bank, so that purchases made for the faction are tracked easier! It is recommended that you make a separate user name with the bank's name displayed. The application has been adjusted to include a tab for your bank! Once you've applied, and have at least 3 members aside from the bank, you will be given a board in which you can plan jobs and missions! The original application will then become your sign up sheet for new members, and is to be updated often. That's all to announce! See ya around. j/s Edit: It just makes sense that the faction leaders should be the one updating these types of things not a staff members job. Especially since it's stated that this kind of thing should be done anyway.

Heh, that needs to be updated!
But in regards to that, yes, that can be done, and it should be! However, on top of this, there should be a staff managed announcement thread that shows what is going on, as well as relations. It's more to cover grounds on who is who and also alieves some of the weight to the mind to remember to constantly be updating if someone else is covering the same face.
