The axe fell, and Friion's life was no more. For a while, he couldn't manage to do much else but have his mind wander. All he could focus on was his shame and his regret, witnessing once more the barbarism of the Saiyan Empire against his people with nothing to curb the assault. He'd been there before, back when the Demon Tree sucked the life from his home and made the Saiyan warriors stronger with its essence. They had added insult to injury then, and now the Arcosian Empire had been under a full-scale assault. Thousands upon thousands of citizens likely perished in yet another assault, and the warriors of his Empire were mostly powerless to do much of anything about it. He could feel his eyes stirring behind the lids; was he alive? No, he couldn't be. He watched that axe come down and it surely split his skull with little resistance. He was almost afraid to open his eyes, and it took him a second to try and mentally prepare for anything he might actually see. By his guess, the warriors present would likely swarm and overwhelm anyone else there fighting for the Arcosian Empire. He couldn't bear to see their failures again; not so soon after having to come to grips with his own, at the very least. However, slowly, his eyes creaked open and what he saw was like nothing he could possibly imagine.
He was standing on some strange huge structure, being trailed by what looked like thousands of small little puff balls floating just above the ground. Some bickered and complained, others growing impatient and body-tackling each other for places in line. Looking down, he couldn't help but notice he had no hands. Or feet. Arms or legs, either. In fact, he was a puffy violet little ball, just like the assorted colors behind him. He was hurried along by the one directly behind him, and he turned to see it was almost his place in line through some sort of dumb luck. He watched one of the curious little beings be dropped through the floor, and he blinked his non-existing eyes curiously. What in the world was going on? Every couple of seconds, he was able to shift a few feet forward. Most of the little puff balls were being dropped through the floor like the first he watched, but others seemed a bit more lucky and didn't meet the same fate. A gigantic ogre of a man sat behind a desk with a gavel, surrounded by mountains of paperwork. The thought of all this made him want to smirk, if he had been able to. All those theories about what happened when someone dies, and here he was. He was watching all of this clear as day.
Before long, he was right near the front and ready to go next. The puff-ball in front of Friion explained its most pure deed, and its most vile one. After a split-second consideration, the trap door opened and down it went. Friion had been adamant in his beliefs; apparently there were two places to go, and he couldn't let himself be frightened of the possibly of going to either of them. He'd take a confident float forward and peer up at the massive individual behind that desk. ''Hello, sir. My name is Friion. I'm an Arcosian, slain in the recent battle for Yardrat.'' Maybe that would help him pull his paperwork and get this thing moving just a bit faster. ''I take it i'm to explain to you my most noble deed, and my most vile one. Let's see...''
''My most noble deed would be the creation of the Friion Force; though it doesn't mean much anymore after my absences, two have filled the position in my absence. The most recent being a strange creature named Soma. I did this in an effort to help safeguard my nation from those...Saiyans.'' He couldn't help but to have the word drip with disgusted malice. ''My most vile? In the battle for Yardrat I would have killed a Saiyan, if not for the intervention of his allies. I'd sworn vengeance on their battle-hungry Empire, realizing the only way to achieve a life free from Saiyan aggression is to have the lot of them exterminated.''
Realizing how his last statement probably would have sounded, he still held his position firmly over that trap door.
