Gira flew through the skies down south, clad in her weighted gear, the symbol of the Turtle School emblazoned on the front right breast and on the back of her blue gi. She was headed for Kame House, or at least, where she heard Kame House was. She mumbled coordinates to herself while looking at the crudely drawn map she made. Unfortunately, the wind ripped the sheet of paper from her hand and sent it plummeting to the ocean below. "Oh, man! Really?" She was about to turn back for it when she saw the blue-roofed house in the distance. She held back the urge to cheer when she saw the words "KAME HOUSE" on the front. So she wasn't lied to after all. Quickly, she landed on the tiny island holding the house. "Wow." Gira looked around at the place. Now that she was here, she started to think about what she had expected. She expected something a little more grand, but it looked like an old man's retirement beach house. She shook her head. What it looked like didn't matter. All that matter was what-- or who-- dwelt within the house. Gira looked over at the front door, taking a deep breath to shake the nervousness. The hybrid approached the door, knocking ever so slightly. It was just barely audible. She was still nervous, it seemed. Articho Reville

Articho rested on his bed, reading a comic book and drinking from a can of soda while music pulsed through his head phones. That had become his typical, daily routine: sit around and wait for an inevitable new student, assess them, send them on their way, and do it all over again. He did enjoy helping people get stronger, but he couldn't deny he was getting a bored with the same routine over and over again. And with his baby sister Pasley having been recently born, he couldn't really look to his parents for things to do. Both of them were often too tired to actually want to do more than sleep when they managed to get the little pink haired baby to settle down and sleep herself. He hated to admit it, but he was kind of hoping for some conflict to crop up on Earth soon. He had heard about some stuff going down on other planets and a three way war between the Arcosians, Saiyans, and a mysterious Namekian conqueror who's name he was sure rhymed with "Milo."
Articho sighed and flipped the page of his comic book when a power level coming towards his house triggered his senses. The young hybrid looked up from the page in the direction it was coming from and sighed again as it slowed to a stop upon reaching his house. Back to work, it seemed. He pulled out his ear buds and stood up from his bed before quietly descending the stairs and heading to the front door. He barely heard the knock, a relief given his sister was asleep, as he reached for the handle and opened up the door.
Articho gave the girl he saw a quick once over, crossing his arms over his chest as he settled on the Turtle symbol on her gi. "Well, what do you know? Someone showing up actually prepared properly," he commented. "You've already got a few points in my book."

Gira took a deep breath as she waited for the appearance of the Turtle Hermit. She wasn't sure what to expect once that door opened. She wouldn't have to wonder very long as Articho soon opened the door. Gira just stood there in awkward silence as the man in the doorway sized her up. The half-Saiyan waited anxiously for him to say something. To her surprise, the first words out of the hermit's mouth were ones of praise. Gira felt some of the nervous tension release as she smiled shyly and scratched the back of her head with a small chuckle. "Thanks. I figured if i'm going to ask for training, i'd come prepared for it." Gira soon realized that she had not yet introduced herself. "Oh, i'm Gira. Good to meet you." She bowed slightly as she introduced herself to the man she would hopefully soon call "sensei." After they had a chance to exchange introductions, Gira got right down to business. "I heard that you sometimes take on students. I, um... i'm interested in learning from you if you'll have me. There are a lot of dangerous things going on nowadays, so I need to get strong to protect what's important." Gira looked expectantly at Articho, wondering if he was going to accept her. It seemed she was off to a good start, showing up prepared and dressed in the appropriate attire and she didn't completely botch the introductions. The teen halfling had a good feeling about this. But if he wouldn't accept her, she would just have to show him what she could do. Articho Reville

Articho chuckled slightly and shook his head at the girl's response. How he wished more students like her showed up: actually prepared than seemingly on a whim, not trying to get out of the fee, and most importantly, shouting st his house to get his attention. "You would be surprised how often that doesn't happen. Last students I had come around were two guys, neither of which actually had paid the fee and both of which wanted to get out of paying said fee," the hybrid said, huffing in annoyance and running his fingers through his hair. "Anyway, the name's Articho. It's nice to meet you, too."
Articho scratched at the side of his face, considering what Gira had told him. "This a public school, even though I moved from the old dojo out here for tradition's sake, so taking on students is in the job description," he said. "Kind of annoying that people can just get the emblem off the web nowadays so I can't be as selective, but it is what it is. There's a island a short flight over that way," Articho pointed behind her, "I'll assess how well you can fight over there. You head on over and I'll join you shortly."

Gira turned her head when Articho mentioned that as far as students like her went, she was the minority. He mentioned the last two students that came to him for training, trying to weasel out of paying for admission. Gira blinked when she heard that he was going to take her, and that he only really moved out here for tradition's sake. So she really didn't have to worry about not being accepted, then? At that, she felt more of the nervous tension release. One less thing she had to worry about when it came to her training.
At the mention of how annoying it was that people could buy his emblem off the internet, Gira chuckled nervously, her cheeks turning slightly pink. That was precisely where she got her emblem. When Articho pointed behind the half-Saiyan, mentioning an island, the teen looked over her shoulder at it. Apparently, they would be testing her fighting capabilities there. Gira turned back to the Turtle Hermit with an excited grin and nodded enthusiastically. "Yes sir! I won't let you down!"
Gira rocketed into the sky, flying quickly to the little island that Articho pointed out to her. She landed on the beach, tightening the belt on her gi and beginning her warm-up by throwing a flurry of punches and kicks into the air to limber up her joints. Now that things were about to begin, Gira was more excited than nervous. It seemed she would get to spar with Articho as well. She felt his power and it was impressive indeed! She wasn't even one hundred percent sure that she felt a power even higher than that that wasn't aided by a transformation of some sort. The girl wondered if Articho could transform. She'd have to ask him about that when all this was done.

Articho rolled his eyes slightly as Gira excitedly called him "sir" before flying off towards the island, but he couldn't help but grin at her enthusiasm. It was a lot easier training someone who was excited and willing to be clay in his hands than someone who wouldn't work with him. He walked back upstairs, making sure to tip toe past his parents' room as he retrieved his jacket. He threw it on quickly, opened up his window, and flew out towards the island. He touched down about ten feet from Gira as she finished up her warm up. He rolled his neck to loosen it up and stretched his arms across his chest as he studied her.
"Alright, as the first part of your training, I want you to come at me with everything you got," Articho said. "I want to get a feel for how you fight and what you may need to improve upon. Sound good?"

Gira looked over at Articho as he landed near her. The girl grinned and finished her warm-up, turning to the Turtle Hermit as he explained what they would be doing today. They were to spar, it seemed. This made Gira even more excited. Every trace of the nervous girl was gone. Now she was a bundle of excitement. It had been some time since she felt like this. "Everything i've got, huh?" The half-Saiyan grinned, lifting the top layer of the upper body portion of her gi, folding it up neatly and setting it on the ground in a relatively clean spot. She took off her shoes and wristbands as well, setting them near her shirt.
With that, Gira hopped back and forth, enjoying the freeing feeling of not having her weights on. She only spent a few seconds on this, however. Gira turned back to Articho and got ready for battle, spreading her stance and putting her right fist forward to be even with her front knee as she moved her left fist back so that her arms were parallel. Gira stayed still for a moment, sizing up her opponent. Then, without warning, Gira charged forward, propelling herself with her ki.
It seemed like a frontal assault, but the hybrid vanished from sight about five feet away from Articho, appearing above him and aiming a kick at the top of his head on her way down towards him.
Gira has removed her Heavy Weights. She is now fighting at her maximum PL of 41 864.

Articho grinned and readied himself as he watched Gira ditch her weights. Her power rose slightly, though it was still fairly low. She wasn't quite there into tapping into some of her real power, but she was getting there. "Just so you know, I'm not going to pull any punches myself. None of your enemies will hold back, so I wouldn't be doing you any favors by holding back myself," the young hybrid said, crossing his arms over his chest. "Now show me what you've got!"
Articho watched as Gira dashed forward, then vanished from sight. It didn't take him long to track where she was and he simply stepped back to avoid her downward kick. "Going at your opponent from an unexpected angle to start off the fight. Good starting strategy, but be sure you don't leave yourself open to countering when you do it," he instructed before dipping down in a short, powerful punch aimed at her stomach, followed by an open palm strike at her chest. He held back a little bit, so as to not hurt her too much.

Gira growled as Articho avoided her kick. Her foot dug into the sand with great force, creating an audible boom from the impact as a small crater formed where her kick landed. After the Turtle Hermit advised her not to leave herself open, Gira turned towards him just in time to see the blow headed her way. He was quick, so Gira didn't have much time to get her guard up before the other hybrid's palm strike hit home. The guard didn't do a whole lot to cushion the blow, the wind being knocked out of Gira as she slid back a dozen feet in the sand. "Oh... ow..." Gira took a second to catch her breath. "Wow, you're strong!" Gira said breathlessly. The teen appeared to be having fun, as evidenced by the big grin on her face. "I'm gonna show you what I can really do!" Gira got back in her stance, narrowing her eyes at Articho. In an instant, she dashed forward, crouching low and sliding the last few feet towards her sensei. The hybrid vanished from view again, however, reappearing a dozen feet away from Articho's back. The hybrid girl conjured a yellow mass of ki in each hand, tossing each one at her opponent. She didn't stop there, however, throwing ki blast after ki blast at Articho. Gira aimed a few of the blasts around the Turtle Hermit as well, hopefully covering most of his possible escape routes. As each blast struck the sand, it created several small craters made of glass, formed from the intense heat of the energy. Gira finished the onslaught by jumping into the air about fifty feet, holding bother of her arms above her head as a large orb of pure energy manifested above her palms. "Yaaaah!" With a roar, Gira threw both of her arms down, sending the attack right at Articho. Articho Reville

Articho straightened from his attacks and rolled his neck, smirking at Gira. She was keeping up a pretty good attitude despite his heavy attacks against her. She was proving a better student than some of his past encounters already and they'd barely begun. "Keep up with your training and you'll find its not that hard to get to, eventually," Articho replied as he readied himself. He watched as she dashed forward and slid on the ground before vanishing from sight. The hybrid sensed her up above him and looked up to see a barrage of ki blasts raining down on his head. The blasts bounced off of his body, leaving scuff marks along his clothing and kicked up sand up around him. "Feisty, feisty..." he said with a grin.
After a moment, the hail of blasts stopped and the sand cloud cleared. Arti watched with a bemused smirk as Gira charged up a larger blast before shooting it down towards him. He raised one hand up and smacked the large blast out towards the ocean. It flew into the ocean and exploded in a large spout of water. "Not bad, Gira. But size isn't everything when it comes to blasts," Articho said. A small yellow ball of energy formed in his right hand and began spinning rapidly, forming a small whirlwind. The hybrid quickly leapt in the air and spun around before throwing the rapidly spinning ball of energy. "Ball Breaker: Aureal Rotation Shot!"

Gira's grin grew ever wider as Articho shrugged off her attack like it was nothing. She was already not regretting deciding to train under him. Just from their brief battle so far, Gira could tell that she was going to learn a lot from him. The girl prepared herself as she felt Articho's power spike. 'He's gonna hit me hard this time... I better get ready.' Gira hung in the air, stretching her arm out and aiming her palm at Articho. When her sensei initiated the attack, , Gira called forth a yellow ball of ki the size of a basketball. "Aether CANNON!" Gira cried out, launching the ball of energy at Articho's own attack. The two ki masses collided in midair, Articho's attack clearly having the advantage. Steadily, it was pushing both attacks even closer to the teen hybrid. Gira groaned with effort as she poured as much power as she could muster into her Aether Cannon. Sweat began to pour down her face as she struggled in vain against Articho's attack. Outmatched though she was, Gira wasn't about to give up. "Come onnnnn...!" Gira continued her struggle, gripping her wrist with her free hand as if that would somehow help her situation. Unfortunately, it was too little, too late. Articho's attack burst right through Gira's Aether Cannon, the weaker attack dissipating into the air. Gira took the split second she had to get her guard up. As the attack struck her, Gira's guard was broken and she was pushed back a few feet before the attack detonated against her abdomen. The attack's detonation clouded her form in a heavy blanket of smoke as the sound of an explosion rang out over the ocean, the wind generated from the impact kicking up sand and disturbing the water even from where it had hit her several dozen feet in the air. The hybrid hung in the air as the smoke dissipated, breathing heavily. That attack hurt her more than just a little. She would need more than a couple of seconds to recover this time. Her clothes were a tattered mess, black soot covering most of her upper body and arms. "He... he... he..." Gira let out a breathless chuckle as she slowly descended from the sky, holding the arm she used to fire her attack. "I'm not... done yet!" With a confident smile, she got back into her battle stance. "I'm having a lot of fun. Can't say i've had a battle this tough before. I'm gonna get as strong as you. Just you watch!" Gira's smile grew. "And it all begins today!" With that, she lunged at Articho's front, throwing a flurry of punches at his midsection and face. 'Hopefully, he'll think i'm just going for a predictable strategy out of frustration... if I can manage to outsmart this guy, then hit him with everything i'm made of... I might be able to impress him, at least.'

Articho watched as Gira launched her own attack to meet his midair. The two energy attacks collided in the air, creating a blast of force magnified by the whirlwind whipping around his own Ball Breaker technique. The two attacks struggled against one another for a few moments, which surprised him. He looked past the two attacks to see Gira straining to hold back the Ball Breaker with her Aether Cannon. Impressive, to say the least, holding it as long as she was. Inevitably, the smaller, more powerful attack burst through her Aether Cannon and it strucking, causing a pretty sizable explosion that rocked the area around them and stirred up waves in the water. Articho closed one eye as dirt flew on his face, his other eye trained on the girl as the smoke dissipated. To his surprise, she was still standing and even more surprisingly, she was smiling. He was liking this girl more and more the longer they fought.
Articho followed her downwards as she floated to the ground, grinning as he did. "Can't say I've ever had a student so eager to get their ass kicked and still want to keep going," he commented as she struck her battle stance. "No doubt you'll end up pretty strong, but you've got a lot of work ahead of you before you'll start getting seriously close to me." His eyes flashed excitedly and his tone made his statement sound like a challenge, as if he was saying "Prove me wrong." He readied himself as she charged forward, holding one hand up and using it to block each of her incoming punches.
"Come on, you can do better than this!" he shouted. "Don't tell me you're getting angry!"

Gira's ragged breath continued as she chuckled at what Articho said about never having a student so willing to continue a battle after getting their ass kicked. In truth, she was hurt a lot more than she let on. It took every bit of strength she had to remain standing. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't stop her hand from shaking as she worked through the pain. Whether it was shaking with pain, excitement, or both, she didn't know. It was probably both though. Her blows were clearly slower. She was left winded from that attack.
The battle was over before it began, but now it was really over. She had one good move left in her. After she chose to unleash that attack, she would have nothing left to give. As she continued her onslaught against Articho, she would shout out a response to what he said about how she had a long way to go. "Whether it takes one year... or a hundred... I will get...!" Gira thought about her goals at this point. If Articho truly was as strong as someone could get, she would go beyond. No matter how long it took. That being the case, she amended her previous statement. "...stronger than you!" Gira conserved her energy, waiting for the opportune moment to unleash her strongest attack.
She was certain it wouldn't cause any real damage; not with the amount of time she would have to pull enough energy together for it. Perhaps fully charged, it might do some damage. But she wouldn't have time for that. Not in a one on one battle. However, this would show Articho what she was truly capable of. Gira roared and increased the speed of her combo, waiting for her to regain a little bit more of her energy. Then, she'd really show Articho-sensei what she could do!

Articho dipped and dodged past Gira's attacks, noting how much slower her attacks were getting. She was on her way out, whether she wanted to keep going or not. Articho didn't even want to fight back just so he didn't accidentally knock her the hell out with a simple tap. The hybrid quickly jumped back, putting a small amount of distance between him and the young prospect before forcefully extending one hand out and releasing a kiai to push Gira even further back. "I don't doubt you'll get as strong as me one day, but you've got to know, this isn't my max strength. Let me show you..." Articho's blue aura formed around him as he began charging up more energy. ...my real strength!" With a shout, an explosion of power rolled off of the hybrid. His aura turned yellow as his hair spiked up and turned golden in color and his blue eyes turned teal. A few sparks of bioelectricity sparked off of his form as he grinned at Gira.
"You've shown yourself a really good fighter, but one thing is certain: there's always someone stronger than you. And I'm in no way the strongest you'll encounter," Articho explained. "But let that motivate you, that way you'll always strive for greater heights and the capability to go even," Articho thought for a moment. Maybe he could try reaching the next level for himself as he explained this to Gira. His energy began swirling around him, tiny pebbles and sticks floating up off of the ground as the power radiated off of him."further...beyond!" With another roar, his energy skyrocketed again. His hair began spiking up even further than before and lightning crackled around him. He grit his teeth as he struggled to maintain the form. It didn't take long for him to realize that it wasn't his time to achieve the form and his energy dropped back down to his regular Super Saiyan level. Another time it seemed.
"We'll call it a day here," the hybrid said as he looked back at Gira. "You look about ready to fall over as is."

Gira fought as hard as possible, but her strikes simply weren't landing. Articho would be impossible for her to beat even at full strength. Now, however, with her body beaten and her energy dropping fast, her loss was a foregone conclusion. The half-Saiyan couldn't react quickly enough as a pulse of energy pushed her backwards. She maintained her footing just barely as she held her arms up in an "X" to block. Then, it happened. Articho stated that he was going to show Gira his true strength. The girl grinned with excitement. Though she was weary, she would find the strength to fight Articho at full power if she had to. She felt his energy as it began to climb dramatically.
Gira seemed surprised at the feeling, lowering her arms and simply staring in awe. She thought the feeling she got was familiar, but couldn't quite place where she felt this sort of power. Then, she got her answer. With a burst of golden energy, Articho had become a Super Saiyan. Gira's eyes widened even further. The power she felt was like a weight on her shoulders. "Oh... yes! I knew power like that meant you had to be a Saiyan!" Gira straightened up and got back into her stance, listening as Articho spoke about how there would always be someone stronger than her.
This was a truth that Gira would always remember. That and her own curiosity was what pushed her to get stronger. Then, something even more surprising happened that caused the half-Saiyan to drop her stance again. Articho's power spiked for but a moment, but this moment was enough for Gira to get a sense of the power that Articho was knocking at. What he said interested her too... about going further beyond. Beyond a Super Saiyan? Gira couldn't imagine that, but the energy she sensed a second ago was the closest thing to that. Unfortunately, what her master said next disappointed her. Apparently, they would be stopping today.
Gira's mouth dropped open, like a child that was just told they couldn't get a new toy. "B-But! But I haven't shown you my best attack yet!" Gira seemed sad for a second, but then simply shrugged. "Oh well, another time I guess. That gives me more time to get stronger!" The hybrid was back to her enthusiastic self. "But..." She giggled. "...I would like one promise from you. If you're willing." Gira approached Articho as he stood in his golden-haired transformation. "When I become like you, a Super Saiyan... I want us to fight for real." A friendly smile stretched across Gira's face as she held a hand out, wanting them to shake on it. "How 'bout it?"
