For those who haven't been watching the chat, I've recently kicked off a plot of sorts featuring Cipher 24. Basically our favourite 4 armed android has been possessed by an ancient spirit, determined to make up for lost time and regain his lost power.
Though this spirit will start out slow. Keep a low profile and slowly gain power, and an idea for him to do this is through corruption. Through magical means, this spirit could implant pieces of itself into others to influence them. Not outright mind control, but some degree of mental manipulation.
Now, naturally, I can't force this on people's characters, so I'm putting this up to see who would be ok with such a thing, as well as putting up possible suggestions for this plot.
Now everything I say is an opinion, so take this with a grain of salt. Now personally I'd start this out by trying to find out what story your trying to tell, have an arc in mind and not just throw caution to the wind, plan out your steps how will I reach my goals and how will these impact other people? My method for story telling is stripping it down to the bare bones, I pick three words and I build up from there ergo Arrogance and Rapture, Fall from Grace, extra. It means you can always boil it down to those three words if something goes wrong.
My suggestion: You'll want to start off subtle I'd suggest abusing your power as a member of the BBA, this after all is Red Religner by any other name, but then again Red Religner is Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by any other name. What makes this evil tick, why is it evil? Always ask why, but you'll want to go the puppet master route this will be a nice spin on it compared to Reds "HULK SMASH!". Start building followers after all evil is seductive, up the charisma.
My suggestion boils down to simply know the beast you're playing before you play it, everyone falls for the "I'm so evil" que evil laughter pitfall. Good villains do terrible things, but great villains do terrible things for the right reasons.
Thank you for the advice Mammon. I had intended for Corrupt Cipher to start off subtle. After all, the spirit knows full well he's not the biggest fish in the pond, nor does he have a trump card like Xylo has. He does however have Cipher's position in the BBA, as well as the fact that the big guys pretty much ignore him, allowing him a better chance to act in secret. He's only really going to go full tyrant on everyone once he has the power to do so. Not before.
Nava, Verst, glad I've got your support. We should try to set something up for this.
Articho, is this implying you want Arti to turn evil?
Sorry to those who were excited about this, but I'm going to have to scrap this. As some people have pointed out, Cipher suddenly turning evil looks like poor writing and looking back on it, I agree. And honestly, I feel like I'm just shoehorning this in when there's already a big villain right now. Sorry for wasting your time.
Don't feel bad you had an idea and if you want to wait it's fine but why can't there but more then one villain? If you want to be avilkan do it for the right reasons like prehaps he is against the sse peace (if he is not don't change) but regardless so what you think makes cipher fun for you. Maybe he takes a throne who knows just do what makes sense for him
Would it be possible that Cipher could have been "evil" the whole time, and he has been putting on a facade. I feel like that works better than some outside evil. You might get some more satisfaction from something like that. Also keep in mind you've got Greeve to do villain stuff with, and you may wanna stay diversified (though higher end villains are def needed). If we ever get more ghosts about a ghost faction would be dope.
