[ Chai | Thread PL: 14,398 | Light Weights ON, reduced PL: 10,798] Despite living in the frigid north, Hinawa had only visited the North Capitol once - and that had been over a year ago. The main reason probably being the manhunt that was going on as she left, searching for her and the strange Bio-Android Zefonse she met. Things had escalated quickly back then, thanks to a basic lack of understanding of the basics of modern life on the part of Zefonse, coupled with the brash and impulsive way the kitsune acted... It was funny how different she was now, really. So much more composed and in control, all thanks to some isolated time alone... And a rivalry with a Saiyan, of all things. Flying into town now as the sun began to set, Hinawa landed with a soft, supernatural grace on the sidewalk, gaining her a few surprised glances and looks. Ki users were becoming more and more common place nowadays, what with all of the Majins, Saiyans and other aliens appearing on the blue planet, but she didn't look like an alien at all - Hinawa was very obviously a Zoanthrope, with her fox ears and tail not hidden by transformation techniques at all right now. Still, she didn't mind the stares - not anymore. Nonchalantly, she walked down the street as the sun began to set - really, she was only here because of one reason... She had forgotten to pick up beer when she went shopping earlier. Walking down an alley, she found a suitable place - it didn't look run down or high class, but just a normal, nice bar out here in the north, where people could go to relax after work. With her tail swishing slightly around and a relaxed smile on her face, Hinawa pushed open the door and headed inside...

A certain goat from another universe and his demon in a sword for a partner were still horribly broke, and technically homeless. Chai had taken up a job as a bartender while the original bartender went out of town for a vacation. Both the sword and the goat needed to get some money for a proper home instead of the grimy cave they lived in. Guardia wanted to have his blade sharpened and shined as well, while Chai still needed to buy some parts to see if repairing his universe-hopper was even possible at this point...
Currently just wearing his sleeveless gray shirt and green pants with his leather bracers, the goat had just about finished organizing all of the bottles on the shelf. Adjusting the bandanna around his neck, Chai stared at his handiwork for a moment before the bell near the entrance chimed, signalling the entrance of a new customer. Chai turned around, eyes closed for a moment as he greeted the shopper. "Hello! How may we--"
Oh... Oh no. Here came the feelings again. Chai quickly faked a cough, trying to use it to cover up his initial hesitation. "...Help you?" Oh, of all the people to walk into this godforsaken bar, it was Hinawa! Chai knew that this was an alternate version of her that was, well... not dead yet. It was thanks to this zoan that he was able to escape to this universe, instead of having the president come in his place. Chai had a debt to her that he could simply never pay back. The temporary bartender looked at the fellow zoan with a nervous smile, while Guardia- the sentient sword on the stool sat up, his own eye widening a little when he spotted Hinawa. Eyeing Chai with hostility, the sword spoke telepathically to Chai alone. 'Goddammit, don't go snapping again like you did with Collan, Chai.'

This... wasn't the bartender what Hinawa had been expecting. A goat Zoanthrope? Oh well, it didn't matter much to her, though he did seem to be a bit new at this, stuttering his line a bit. Really, that was almost a bit cute - he was probably nervous. Maybe she should have some fun teasing him while she was here? That could really be fun. With a slight smirk, she walked up to the bar - and got a slight sting behind her forehead, like a headache that didn't quite develop fully yet. She felt as if she had seen this guy before somewhere! But that was impossible, she'd remember some relatively cute goat guy that was missing an eye. Strange, at first she hadn't even taken notice of his injury - something in her mind regarded his entire appearance together at once, not going for details as was normal when first meeting someone. Either that was the result of an accident, or he had lived an unfortunate life like herself. "Haven't seen you here before. You the new bartender?" Trying to chase away the unease, Hinawa forced a slight smirk and sat down on one of the stools right at the bar. Was that a sword over there - with an eye on the hilt...? For a fraction of a second, her eyes turned red - yep, that was a sword with an aura of energy. And a rather incredibly large one at that! This sword was stronger than Levlidian, and it was only... well, a sword. With an eye. And the goat too, he had a substantial power level far above normal for a human being! In fact, he exceeded quite a few Saiyans. The 'hard life' just became a lot more likely than an accident involving sharp objects. "Eh, for now, give me a Bao's Mixed Opinions with extra lemon." Ordering one of the drinks on the menu - who came up with those names anyway? - she leaned back and looked at the sword again, her eyes back to blue, with a smirk. "I'm Hinawa Hyoukai, and I can't shake the feeling that I've seen one of you two before. Not sure which." Maybe that would get a reaction from one of them. She had to shake that weird feeling somehow, it was starting to creep her out. --- Chai

Chai forced a nervous smile, still having a few... memories of his Hinawa's final moments. It was just so... brutal. Hands down in one of the most heartbreaking and inhumane things Chai had ever seen, period. Ignoring a few beads of sweat trickling down the side of his head while Guardia gave Chai a death glare, the goat shook his head a little, trying to calm himself down. Guardia too was mildy tramutized by their Hinawa's death, but the sword had seen worse. Like when Defrosch gouged out Chai's eye- pleasant was not a word to describe that little... occurrence. Shuddering as he remembered his partner's shrill scream, the sword pushed those scarring thoughts away for now. He just had to make sure Chai didn't snap, and they would be good to go! The goat quickly nodded when Hinawa asked if he was the new bartender, but spoke in a meek tone afterwards. "Well, yeah. I'm just holding down the fort while the owner's on vacation." Chai watched as his customer's eye flashed red for a moment, locking onto Guardia, who was now using his telekinesis to spin around on the swivel-stools near the bar, almost like how most children just wouldn't stop spinning in a swivel chair. The sword stopped spinning around when he saw Hinawa looking at him, and quickly spoke in a rather smartass tone. 'What? Never seen a talking sword before? Hm?' Chai just sighed, directing his attention to his partner and sending him a quick glare. "Don't be rude, Guardia."
Floating off of his seat and circling Hinawa before coming to a stop and hovering between her and Chai, the blade listened as the kitsune made her order, briefly rolling his eye and speaking to her and Chai briefly. 'Oh, I could go for one of those as well... If only I still had a mouth.' Guardia sighed, closing his eye with a rather glum expression cast over his single eye. He missed being a nine-foot tall rainbow gargoyle demon with power that dwarfed that of Chai. If he had his demon form back, he might have been able to help more back during the fight against Earth's Special Forces in Universe Five... Both partners' expressions sunk to a mixture of shock and apprehension when the zoan mentioned that she felt like she had seen either Chai or Guardia before- judging by the looks on their faces, something was indeed up. Shaking his head, the goat spoke in the same meek tone. "Well, I can't say my partner or I have meet you, miss." Chai spoke, reminding himself not to say Hinawa's name- that would blow his cover!

"As a matter of fact, no, I've never seen a floating talking sword hilt before." Giving the demon blade a smirk, she followed the floating object with her eyes as it sailed around. How strange to see a living object with a Ki Signature... though she quickly found out why. Apparently he had gotten himself sealed into that sword hilt! What an unfortunate fate. Her mind wandered for a moment - sealing should in theory be magic... Maybe it could be reversed? Well, for that she'd need to be a fully experienced and taught priestess to be able to manipulate Ki enough to allow for such magic. She wasn't going to ever become one with her mother being dead and her thus not having a teacher, so she couldn't help the demon sword even if she had a reason to do so.
"Damn. Must suck being stuck in that form. I'd recommend you a mage or two to figure out how to get you out of that form, but for that I'd actually have to know a mage or two." There was some actual feeling for the demon blade despite her somewhat snarky comment towards the being inside of the hilt, as she suddenly noticed them both looking a bit... shocked. Yeah, she was onto something here! This weird feeling wasn't just here for no reason at all. Her drink was forgotten for now -she had to figure out why they both seemed so familiar. She had never met any goat Zoanthropes before, she was sure of that! Maybe he could shapeshift? It wasn't out of the realm of possibility, even she could shapeshift though she lacked the versatility of a few Zoanthropes that could do it.
"Huh, I see... Must've gotten you confused for someone else, then. Sorry about that." For now she tried to just play it off - lulling someone into a sense of security normally helped. However, she kept one eye on Guardia and spoke up again towards the blade. "So... how'd that happen to you, if you don't mind me asking? Pissed off the wrong wizard? Read a dusty old tome out loud?" A bit of prying might yet help her unveil this mystery, or so she hoped at least. Knowing more about the demon sword might allow her to figure out just who the goat was - maybe she had seen him on the news? No, impossible. For that she'd have to actually pay attention to the news!
No matter if he answered or not, she turned her attention back to the substitute bartender. "So how comes someone like you to hold down the bar? Not that I mind, its always interesting to see someone with actual Ki control. Hm... I'd estimate you being almost as strong as me... You a martial artist, or just naturally gifted?" This time she didn't even have to feign interest, meeting Zoanthropes with actual Ki on a level that was worth mentioning wasn't nearly as common as she'd like.

"Chai's Dialogue" 'Guardia's Telepathy' 'Chai's Thoughts' 'Guardia's Thoughts'
<< Previous Thread(UN) FAMILIAR FACES
'Well now you have.' Guardia spoke to Hinawa when she said that she had never met a talking sword before, doing a sarcastic little roll in the air as well. Nodding when this parallel version of his frenemy spoke of recommending a mage to break him free- but she didn't know anyone that could. Bummer. With a sigh, Guardia sat himself back down on one of the stools, his eye barely peeking up over the counter. Chai whistled to his partner while he was organizing the shelf behind him. They had a job as bartenders to attend to, after all. With a quick flick of his flexible rainbow blade, some bottles and glasses shuffled around on the shelf, leaving some of the other customers watching to wonder how much they had drank. A bottle of "Bao's Mixed Opinions (With Extra Lemons)™" floated off the shelf and glided over to Guardia, along with an empty glass. The cork popped out and the sword continued to use his telekinesis to prepare their customer's drink while Chai was finishing cleanup duty. Turning to Hinawa with a somewhat amused glance, the sword set the bottle back where it belonged on the shelf, sliding her drink over as he was asked how the heck he was locked in a sword to begin with. Looking over to Chai, the goat gave Guardia a nod in allowance to tell his story. It wasn't as groundbreaking as them being from another universe, and it was best to get acquainted and maybe even befriend this Hinawa.
'Oh, it's quite the story! Waaaay back when- I'd say a good millennium ago, I was conjured up one day from a gathering of demonic energies in Hell. And boy, was I strong as a soul!' Guardia had no family or parents biologically. One moment he didn't exist. Then he did. It was as simple as that. Recalling his first steps down in Hell as a mighty soul without a proper body, Guardia managed without a physical form down there. He was created with immense power from the sheer amount of energy used to create him. 'But needless to say, it got boring reaaal fast down there. I enjoyed fighting for awhile, but when you live in a place full of so much hate and violence... it wears on 'ya.' Everywhere the soul traveled in Hell, there was always violence and fighting. It was hall for a reason, and Guardia frankly just wanted some peace of mind. He heard tales of the mortal world from some deceased souls, and the demon's interest was piqued. 'So, still a spirit without a body, I devised a plan to escape to the much more interesting mortal worlds! I won't get into the details, but past me thought being set free was a great idea, even with the lack of a body. Boy was I wrong.' Guardia spoke with a glum roll of his eye. He escaped, sure, but the price for freedom was immense. 'I managed to escape Hell, but my body was just a soul and had no physical form to keep me stable! My essence just went WHHOOOOOSH and latched onto the nearest object- this sword hilt.'
Guardia recalled his initial panic of being inanimate. He managed to use his magic to keep himself alive without organs of any kind, but the hilt suppressed his mighty power. Scared and weak, the sword hilt with the soul inside remained silent for a good thousand years. He waited and watched, listening to some gossip and learning about his world. He would't bring up the details about finding out about the Crimson Striker Rebellion and Bing for... obvious reasons, though. 'I stayed weak and silent for many, many years. My powers are suppressed in this form, but they are gradually coming back now that I've been more active. Chai found me one day, we chit-chatted, and the two of us have been partners ever since.' Guardia spoke, closing his eye and concluding his rather lengthy tale. Looking down at his inanimate form for a moment, Guardia let his ki flare up before it died down. His energy was strong, but it was still nothing compared to his true strength. 'Now with my powers coming back, I should be able to break free when I'm strong enough. But that's just a theory, at least.'
Shaking his hilt like a head, it struck Guardia that this Hinawa didn't know Chai and himself yet- she did say she mistook them for someone else, after all. Falling into that net of security, Guardia piped up once more, deciding to state their names. 'Oh, right! I'm Guardia, and this is my partner, Chai. He's an edgelord.'
"Guardia no."
'Guardia yes.'
Chai was the one to perk up when the kitsune asked why a fighter like Chai would be working as a bartender. Glancing over while he was wrapping up his cleaning duty, the goat zoan spoke in a much more comfortable and blunt tone. "Oh, can you sense Ki too? Well, me and G are... kind of broke and have no house. We're stuck living in a cave for now, and need some money."
'I hate that cave. It smells like shit.'
"Relax, we almost have enough for a house, partner." 'It better have a swing! And a slide! And a pool for SURE!'
"Whatever floats your boat." 'Yessss!'
"But yes, me and Guardia are both fighters. I was weak as a child, so my strength is trained, not natural." Chai spoke, forcing a meek smile. It was still so odd seeing Hinawa... alive, and pretty happy. His Hinawa seemed to be a mindless killing machine, but the goat and his forces spared her time over time. And that mercy clearly bore fruit in the end, even though the fruit was promptly crushed and mauled by the Special Forces soon after. Sighing and pushing the unhappy memories aside, Chai spoke with a shrug. "We're still kind of bottom-tier, though. I'm aware that there are fighters thousands of times stronger than myself." Shaking his head, he forced eye contact with the fellow zoan, a somewhat pained glance in his gaze for a mere moment. Bing was an insurmountable force that could only grow stronger... "It's a little discouraging to be honest. But if they can do it, so can Guardia and I."

The story of how Guardia the demon became Guardia the sword was quite interesting, really. Hinawa leaned forward, resting her head on one of her hands, as she listened - a rather extensive tale of many things she would've never believed a few years ago. But she knew now, hell was a real place - and how real demons were. She had fought one and nearly died for it, after all. But Guardia, he seemed... nice, really. Friendly. Someone who had wanted to get away from that life in hell! She found that commendable. Maybe she really should check to make sure none of the people she knew could break seals... Every living being deserved to be free. That had been her belief even BEFORE meeting Emer, and now that his fight was hers to continue, she would uphold the right of freedom for every being.
"I can sense your power, Guardia... You'll probably break out soon enough. When you do, invite me to your 'being freed' party. I'll bring a few drinks."
Taking a sip from her own drink that she had ordered - the sour flavor was just what she needed right now - she raised an eyebrow again. Guardia and Chai. Yeah, she had certainly never heard those names before - she'd remember them. She wasn't the best with names, but these two were a duo you wouldn't just forget! She had to find out where that niggling feeling of recognition came from. How similar their current situations were, though, caused her to giggle a bit before taking another sip.
"Stuck outside in a cave, with no real home... Hey, that sounds pretty familiar. Let me guess, terribly breezy and keeping a somewhat stable temperature inside is a total pain in the ass? I've lived in a Kami-forsaken cave for the better part of two years now." Shaking her head at her own stupidity, she emptied the rest of her tall glass in one swoop. For some reason, she felt like she could trust these two - she didn't know them, but FELT like she knew them. That was good enough for now. "At first it was a 'temporary solution' while looking for my teacher. Then a 'temporary stay' to recover from fighting a demon... then a 'I'll stay here and hope the world forgets me' solution. Only recently got out of that slump... and I still don't know how exactly I got out of it. For a while there, I would've been glad with all of my emotions just dying off in the cold and forgetting about everything..."
With a sigh, she gave Guardia a hand signal to refill her drink.
"Still, almost got an ACTUAL home locked down now myself, so good luck to you with yours. If you stop at your lowest point, you end up like me. Only dragged back into the world by pure chance."
