> Custom Masters: Proposal - Allow people to create their own 'master/monarch' positions if they meet the requirements, and rework it so that existing masters are gifted the corresponding item. Brought up in relation to earlier discussion threads about Relis and the turtle hermit.
Requirements; --must own 'school'((Refer to Buildings)), --must have atleast 10,000 pl --and must have tech slot
- teaches 3 techs, 1 of which is their special (negotiate special with admin) - gives pl bonus for training with a master, but students need to learn all 3 techniques using own tech slots - must teach, though can have tests/pl reqs/dogi - Dogi must be bought from store to offically train under master, perhaps proceeds go to said master? - cannot learn from multiple masters at once

This looks all settled already. Now question for this concerns teaching. Does it have be teaching to players, or can it be a training/zeni thread that can make up for not having any player students?

I'm really liking this and this is something I am already excited to work towards. My question is, if I bought some low end weights, like several sets could I also use them to train my students?

If you're meaning buying your students certain items I don't see the problem with it, but it'd come out of your Zennie pool.

I like the idea, but I also think their should be a limit. If everyone became a 'master', for instance, then I don't see many characters bothering to learn from each other. Maybe I'm wrong.

I'm really liking this and this is something I am already excited to work towards. My question is, if I bought some low end weights, like several sets could I also use them to train my students? You could make them work for it, and buy their own weights Like how Roshi had Goku and Krillin doing milk runs and other 'chores' on training island, you could say these were Zeni threads which he made them do, then had them use the Zeni gained to buy kame shells [training weights]. (or indeed you can do so out of your own pocket and give it to your students) That's actually the sort of stuff I meant by 'can have certain tests/pl requirements'. Various tasks, or things you require before you will teach them your special. Be it small stuff like king kai's 'you must tell me a joke', or big stuff like 'you must have killed a player character to prove you are worthy of being my evil disciple'. (within reason and must be negotiated with admin/community) This looks all settled already. Now question for this concerns teaching. Does it have be teaching to players, or can it be a training/zeni thread that can make up for not having any player students? By must teach I meant as in you can't just become a master to get some cool move and hoard it. You also can't just be an ass and refuse someone who within reason should actually be allowed to train under you. And I guess we might have to keep this stuff moderated, inactive people might face losing or not being able to go for a role if they really can't meet the obligations it presents... depends - will need to keep an ear to the ground on that one. Otherwise, yeah, you can do RP threads where you might be teaching NPC students, or even buy an Ally who is a student of you.

I do worry that having the possibility of so many schools with such a small pool of players might lead to lots of schools with no students as masters all want to do their own thing.

While it's not entirely relevant to the custom masters, I just needed to put this down here so it's here.
Since we were talking about the masters of the current schools, someone brought a point, explaining that the knowledge of the teachers in the sword school that Goten and Trunks started ages ago were lost and had to be rediscovered. It was a good idea, but I had this thought: A ancient art must have someone or something covering it, making sure it stayed intact. Perhaps descendants or a family of care takers covers the school. For the sword school, being that Trunks IS, well, the heir of the Capsule Corporation, perhaps his and Goten's teachings are kept deep in the original Capsule Corp. building in West City. It makes more sense that their particular skills would be kept in Capsule Corporation's original home.
Thoughts?

That is something I could definitely see. It would be neat to add a spot where you can add a little background to the school and state its descendants, care takers, or where it might be held and what not.
