With everything said and done, Kay-El wanted nothing more than to get off this damned rock. Between the chip she bore on her shoulder for not saying good bye to anyone on Earth before she left and this new mission for the White List Pin was sending her there for, the Zeni she’d earned doing work in Pin’s shop lately burned a hole in her pocket. This just in: she needed a ship of her own. Kay-El couldn’t rely on Pin for rides all the time, especially with the White List growing and she having her own things to tend to now. On her shoulder, Pounce purred in her ear which made the child smile despite all her doubts or maybe even because of them. Who knew, really?
“Ready, Little Bird?” Nana asked, looking down at her charge. This was a big step for Kay-El, a ship of her own, for real. It seemed so long ago that decrepit pod her father rebuilt crashed in one of Earth’s deserts. She wanted to go back for so many reasons. Besides, she had some unfinished business with a witch regarding a Minotaur.
“Yeah,” she said seriously, eyes drawn to a small, hot pink pod that had black detailing on it. “That one!” she said and Nana frowned.
“There are definitely bigger ships that we can afford…” she said cautiously.
But Kay-El had her sights set on that one, now, and she ran over to it, eyes widening at the price tag due to all the enhancements on it. Her adoptive father taught her a thing or two about space pods since the Sayan liked fixing them up as a hobby. He’d take them apart and put them back together and improve them to the point they were unrecognizable - or, just make the outside look the same but everything inside worked better. “Wow, faster speed...stealth drive and extra seating?” she said, looking over at Nana excitedly. Maybe it wasn’t the biggest or flashiest ship around, but it was decked out inside and that was what mattered. “This one, definitely!” she said. And with all the enhancements it basically took all of her Zeni, leaving her with a little less than a hundred. But that was okay, this baby was worth it!

Later that day she looked over at her new ship - her new ship! - and smiled. Earth, here she came, and she’d come in style.
