It had been quite some time since Maeve had found herself on the Shrimp Family ranch. With the craziness of 'being a hero,' falling in love, the return of her old master, and with family matters top it all off she found little time to work on the happy farm with the people she considered her second family. Still, they were happy to see her return, stories were had, a hearty Shrimp family brunch was served and things became like old times as soon as she walked through the door. Scampi had been recovering from the battle with Rime still and only recently had gained the ability to walk and move normally. For all intents and purposes: the shot from the arcosian wench that pierced the boy should have killed him but through his will alone he had survived. Months later, he was right as rain (mostly anyway.) At first, Maeve found it hard to look at the boy. It wasn't out of shame but out of guilt. The once proud human that could take on three alien soldiers at once was shaky, feeble and slim. He had been bedridden for so long and it was obvious it had taken a toll. Maeve couldn't help but feel responsible. If she were stronger then she could have taken care of Lady Rime and her bumbling soldiers. If she were stronger Scampi wouldn't have gotten hurt. Yet, despite everything: the boy greeted Maeve with a wide smile and demanded she tell him the stories of her adventures up until that point. Apparently such a near death experience wasn't enough to bring the boy down. In fact Maeve felt he looked the happiest that she'd seen him as she described her tales of adventure. He didn't see her as the one who inadvertently caused his injury. No, he saw her as the greatest hero he'd ever known. Visiting wasn't the main reason the demoness had come back though, neither was the chores she was roped into doing on the ranch. No, instead Maeve had come home so she could make a very important call. With the help of the tech savvy daughter of the Shrimp Clan: Panne; Maeve managed to set up a video conference which would reach out to the three women she would (to some extent) consider friends. Something big had come up and she needed some sort of female support. Most of the people she knew were either mostly strangers, male, or too young to really discuss what she needed to discuss. So with a nervous gulp she'd hit the "Call" button and busily tap at the computer desk as she awaited a response from Kaula, Zerori, and Queen Habana.

It was just after a nice stretch and warm-up that Zerori found herself back out in the wilderness of what passed for forests on Vegeta. In the middle of the mid-sized trees and bushes, she’d cleared for herself a circle of freshly burnt vegetation to lay amongst. Comforted by the scent of freshly incinerated grass and smoked bark, Zerori stared up at the stars with her hands folded behind her head and one leg crooked in a relaxed posture.
As a child, she would come here when the trees were hardly saplings and the grass completely overtook her small body. Laying under the stars, Zerori would smile innocently as she imagined what every star would be and the planets that surrounded the system. She loved to research solar systems, the stars that were their heart and the inhabitants that may or may not have lived within them. She didn’t tell her mother, and only whispered her aspirations to her father. It was… the only peace she got between her constant studies, training and hated school life.
And now, nearly eighteen years later, she was back where it all started and she felt a peace that made the saiyaness almost cry with guilt. Being alone wasn’t all it was cracked up to be…
As she swallowed away her contrition, a sensation would alert her to a disturbance. Knowing what it was immediately, Zerori waved her hand over the circuit on her arm and a scouter would appear in her hand. Placing it on her face, Zerori read the incoming transmission as a live feed… from Earth?
Oh god, I hope it’s not Denizen… Answering the transmission, Zerori tentatively spoke in the scouter. “Yo. Whose askin’?” She tersely responded, wary of anyone who might not actually know who she was and giving away too much information.

Maeve frowned softly, seeing the disconnected signal come up for both Habana and Kaula. While she was hoping to talk with all of them she could understand why they probably didn't pick up. For all she knew Zucceta could have been monitoring all calls to and from the planet and they probably didn't want to paint a target on the poor demoness' back or have her listen in on whatever secret plots that Maeve could have been spinning with them. Secret plots like Earth sending Walker back towards Vegeta for the hell of it or Toma racing to claim the throne next time Zucceta goes to take a walk.
She had nothing like that to reveal. This was a personal call through and through and she really doubted the queen of death would want to hear what was on her mind. in all honesty she was being paranoid and imagining insane scenarios why they couldn't speak with her as the stress of recent events had been really getting to her. As she sat waiting for the phone to ring she'd rapidly tap her claw against the wooden desk the computer was sitting on. She began to question if this was even a good idea at all but shot up with a perk of her headfins as she heard a somewhat familiar voice.
It was confused and low tone but it was definitely the demonic saiyaness' voice coming through the other end. Maeve blinked a few moments caught off guard by actually getting through to the woman and took a moment to gather her thoughts. "Z-Zerori?" She asked, a stutter slipping into her tone causing her to clear her throat. "Zerori this is you right? It's Maeve..." She began nervousness still saturating her tone as she bit her lip.
"Is this a bad time? I-I just needed a friend to talk to and so far my only friends left are either children or male and I sort of need to talk to a lady friend if you know what I mean... Mortals call it 'girl talk' yes? I require some girl talk." She said attempting to sound casual but it was pretty plainly evident that there was something big on her mind.

From the moment her name was dropped by a familiar feminine voice, Zerori’s eyes widened and she immediately felt her stomach drop in concern, “Maeve?” She wasn’t expecting to… ever hear back from Maeve, given that she’d left the planet. Swallowing away her anxiety, Zerori concentrated on the demoness’ only worried tone of voice. “What’s goin’ on? You alright? Yeah, it’s me. Ain’t nothin’ gonna kill me so easily,” She chuckled, trying to get the woman on the other side of the transmission at ease.
Leaning up, she looked at the ground as Maeve confided in her that she needed someone to talk to and after hearing the gallery of options – Zerori didn’t blame her that she was the last one left to call. Giving a shrug Maeve couldn’t see, Zerori waved off her worry. “I’m not doing anything important. Countin’ stars… thinking. Terrifying prospects, but it’s been a… crazy kinda week.” Despite the cryptic meaning, Zerori didn’t want the conversation to start spot-lighting on her and just asked. “So, what’s up? Girl talk, I can provide. So… what, you got some kind of man troubles you wanna talk tome about?”
Grinning at this being the second time she’d been giving advice (albeit unwanted) about men, she was starting to think that people were looking up to her as some sort of gossip or authority on ‘How to keep a man’.
How wrong they were…
Wait. Did people think her and Nicolas, ah… Captain Nova, were a thing? Did shit actually travel so far?!
Side tracked, she shook her head and focused back on Maeve. It was unlikely to be man troubles since Maeve was more of a platonic kind of girl, anyway.

The tip tap of her claws continued to increase as she heard Zerori nervously respond. Did she call at a bad time? Was she alright? What sort of crazy week did she have? From her previous meeting Maeve assumed Zerori was the type that wouldn't share even if something was up. Maeve, meanwhile needed to share. She paused her thoughts however as she realized she had left the call hanging only leaving the nervous tapping to fill the mostly dead air. She sat up, headfins perking as she cleared her throat. "A-actually...Yes there is." She said, tone turning more timid than usual. She ran her clawed fingers through her spiky ruby locks as she thought on how to proceed. "I know it's ignorant to assume that most mortals know each other but...I bet you would know..." She paused, her voice catching in her throat as she realized the mistake she had made. She let out a soft exhale as she looked down, her shoulders slumping. Headfins drooping. "That is to say, knew him." She bit her lip and closed her eyes as she imagined 'him.' "It was probably too soon...Looking back, we've shared so many intense moments that it feels like we had known each other for years...When it was much less than that." The memories of their time shared faded before her eyes like a beautiful display. She blinked, finding her eyes misting up as she got lost in her memories. "It seemed like a mortal fairy tale when he proposed but...It ended as soon as it began." A mix of emotion flooded her tone as she looked down to her scarred hand. "I-I'm sorry I haven't even given you a name...He was the man that served Earth as Kami. The leader of the Zetto Senshi before me, and honestly one of the most fetching males on the planet." She let out a small, sad chuckle at the last bit before clearng her throat one last time. "His name was Bing...Was...He's gone now..."

A raised eye brow in curiosity, Zerori could only hear tapping in the phone after her question and wondered if she should repeat herself. If she… is this thing even working? That was when she heard Maeve seem to come back down to Earth – if she was even there – and speak. And so, with great interest Zerori wondered what sort of problem Maeve could have with a man. Something that could make her so… shy, had to be some bit of good news! Or even sad news but whatever it was, it meant that the demoness girl had found something that struck her fancy.
As she listened, Zerori’s wide grin would start to gradually fade until she was staring forward, mouth parted ever so slightly as it dawned at her that this… this wasn’t going to be happy. Her tone was defeated, her emotions sounded like they were dragged through the mud and when she mentioned… a proposal – it suddenly hit her like a ton of bricks. Gods, no, She thought with a very tough swallow. She’d lost someone and it sounded like a fiancé that she’d grown close to. She might not have know Maeve that long but as they were… well, pretty much Kin – she wasn’t going to sit there and deny that she felt something like dread and sorrow for her.
“Maeve, hey – if it’s too much, just take a breather,” She didn’t want the woman to start breaking down in the phone – no way could she handle that! Opening her mouth to persuade the demoness to calm down, Zerori found herself pausing out of morbid curiosity at the mention of his name. Unable to help herself, Zerori’s eye would widen as she took in every piece of information as it came to her.
And the realization hit, she felt like throwing up.
“No…” She heard herself, almost immediately regretting letting it slip from her. If she was… lucky, Maeve would assume it was a reaction from her never hearing this until now. When in fact, it was her absolute disbelief at the reveal that Maeve… and Bing, even-! They were a pair?! Just when the hell did that happen?!
After a moment of trying to think of myriad of ways they could have met, none really matching up, Zerori shook her head of the cloud in her mind and realized that she was expected to say something else. “I, uh…” And boy was she at a loss for words. “Maeve, I… don’t know what to say. Shit. I did… know him, some.” Swallowing nervously, Zerori was starting to lose her nerve. She couldn’t tell her. ’Yes, Maeve. I’m aware of his death because I’m partially responsible. So, uh… great girl talk. Sorry about that!’ Yeah that… that’ll go over real well. Zerori played in her mind. Unable to come up with much, Zerori just stuck with the basics, “I think… he would have gone out fighting. With honor. W-Who did it?”
You idiot!

“Commander? I apologize for the delay but locating you proved a bit more difficult than anticipated, there is a call for you that has remained rather.. persistent.” Habana raised an eyebrow as a strained voice called to her, she'd vaguely heard the sound of the gravity chamber being opened but had almost expected it to be someone like Zucceta, Pin, or even perhaps Kay to be joining her. Instead it was Gin a fairly new recruit that Habana had snatched up to act as essentially he secretary on top of aiding him in becoming stronger.
Habana blinked as she watched the Saiyan half drag himself through the chamber in his effort to inform her of the call, she'd set the gravity a bit high, nearly sixty times normal levels, it was approaching a level that even her transformed state had a bit of trouble with, and Gin lacked even a tenth the power of her un-transformed state. Quickly powering down the system Habana swatted Gin before activating her scouter in order to receive the call that was apparently so persistent that he'd exhausted himself to find her over.
Tapping the scouter to answer the call Habana hefted Gin over one shoulder, he'd need a few moments to recover from the gravity so for at least now she'd get him out of there before someone else decided to make use of the chamber. “Hello? This is Habana.” she answered, the call information indicated at least two others in the call and that it had been going on for a bit, her initial assumption was Pin and Kay both had familiar numbers at this point and even further knew roughly where to find her if necessary.
If Habana had recognized Maeve's number she likely would have been FAR more reluctant to pick up the call so quickly, she'd not yet had a chance to follow through with Bing's request, it was just a bit TOO dangerous to simply go to Earth herself, the last time that the Empire had planted a Tree of Might it had been promptly followed by an attack on Earth and Habana did not want to raise suspicions of another attack when they had no intention of such.

"It was Zucceta..." Maeve's voice would come through the call, she didn't hear Habana pick up so she just continued on with the conversation unrestricted. "I was there on Vegeta when it happened...I came to visit with the saiyan commander Habana you see, we had developed some sort of rapport in our fight previously and I...I don't know I saw Toma's going there as an opportunity. So I went, helped save the planet while they were away only to....Find Bing left." Maeve continued, her eyes never leaving the scar on the back of her hand. It was a bitter reminder of how fragile their unity actually was. A single tear fell as she recalled that stormy night.
"I stood at the gates of her palace Zerori... I stood, blade in hand, with the full intent of killing her like I did to that fallen general. If it wasn't for the combined efforts of Kaula and her mother I would have gone through with my attack. I'd have probably ended up dead. Just another victim." Her voice turned weak, the tears falling freely now as she held her head.
"But...The reason I stopped...Was due to something that Radasha figured out. Something she revealed to me..." Her eyes squeezed shut as she tried to muster the courage to continue on. She opened her mouth, lips quivering, to let out a broken stammer. Her throat felt dry and the words felt heavy. She swallowed once and tried again...
"I-I'm...I'm with child. It must have been shortly after our engagement...But...The first signs are there... I'm bearing his child."
She lowered her hand to her stomach, there were very little signs of it but she somehow knew.
"I'm going to be a mother and I have no idea what to do!" She cried out, the intense cocktail of emotions pounding in her heart settling on fear as the reality of the situation weighed down on her.
"I'm so scared! What can I do?!"

The moment she heard the words ‘This is Habana’ in the call, Zerori knew this was going to be a cluster fuck waiting to happen. In the first place, she shouldn’t have even ASKED who killed Bing – aside from knowing who it was all along, she could have avoided a tear-filled explanation. What would the Commander think, just listening to Maeve while being a confidant of the Queen? Listening to the mourning demoness, Zerori would start to press the button on her scouter to try and access Habana’s quickly. When the busy signal chimed in her ear repeatedly, she clenched her fist angrily. She could try to splice into the feed and contact the commander but…
She would miss important details that Maeve was telling her out of ‘confidence’. A liar, thief and murderer she may have been… but she was protective of what was hers and Maeve was, by all rights, someone she claimed as her own. Even if it might have been the other way around, entirely!
At the mention of nearly throwing away her life, Zerori hissed, “You’d be so foolish?! That bastard was far stronger than you and-,” She stopped. Observer – not a participant. Had she listened for just a few more moments, she’d be informed that even the swordswoman knew that much. By this point, Zerori was getting her feet and beginning a strong pace back and forth. If Habana was listening on this or not, Zerori made a mental note to find her. They would share words.
And then the news… of a child…
And Habana, the commander of the Solar Saiyan Empire was listening. With a jerk of her arm, Zerori tore the scouter off of her face and stared at it. She could end this now. Stop listening. It wasn’t her problem. She had nothing to do with this and was only being told this because Maeve needed help.
-But she WAS responsible for this.
Hesitant, Zerori placed the scouter back on her face. She heard everything, including Maeve’s anguished cry for help. Her heartbeat thrummed so fast in her chest that she wasn’t sure if she would be able to hear own voice as she spoke. “M-Maeve, this is big news… I want you to stay calm and just… close yer eyes, a’right?” Her accent was getting stronger, a sign that she was dropping the professional tone. “This is great, y’hear me? You-You’re gonna be a Mother, for fucks sake!” Forcing a laugh, she was trying to say every line she could think of to assuage the young womans’ fears. “It’s okay to scared, but you gotta stay calm and relax. Are you safe right now? Just tell me ‘yes’ or ‘no’.”
In her mind, she was thinking of every possible torture she could up with should her answer be ‘No’. And if this got back to the Queen? … The Commander would find herself searching for a new replacement.
If only she could just… drop everything and go help her. She wanted to. By the gods, she wanted to…

Habana blinked in confusion as Maeve spoke, initially surprised by the sound of the demoness' voice, she appeared to have cut into the call at a rather tense moment as Maeve seemed so focused on what she was saying that she hadn't even heard her, Habana wondered slightly if Maeve would have censored herself if she HAD known that she'd joined the call, she spoke of being on Vegeta, during the attack, that she had been among those who had repelled the creature that sought to destroy Vegeta.
That Maeve had done that for the planet and that she had been there to see her made Habana bite her lip knowing that during that time Zucceta had been fighting Bing a man who even Habana had managed to pick up on being very close with Maeve. It also appeared that Maeve already knew that which in some ways lifted a heavy weight from Habana's shoulders as now she did not need to be the one to deliver the news.
Of course she'd still have to talk to Maeve about it, let her know that Bing had wanted her to be told and that he HAD arranged for someone to inform her, even if it meant revealing that Habana had in fact been there on Kanassa for the battle between Zucceta and Bing and stood on the side of his killer. If Habana had her way Bing probably would not have died, he was a strong warrior the strongest Human she knew of and that was incredibly interesting. She'd have let him live and return to Earth because he proved more than capable of pushing Zucceta to new heights of power and ideally he would do the same again some day.
Unfortunately she was not the one calling the shots on Kanassa which lead to the situation they were in now, which only grew WORSE as Maeve revealed WHY she had not actually attacked the Palace. She'd learned she was pregnant. It was perhaps for the best that the call they were in did not posses a video component as Habana's expression shifted from a grim frown to silent shrieking, quickly muting her scouter Habana let out a brief ACTUAL shriek before attempting to compose herself.
She'd not imagined that Maeve and Bing were THAT close, Engaged and with a baby on the way. It showed impressive restraint on Maeve's part that she HADNT attacked the Palace. Zerori was talking now encouraging Maeve a bit, Habana had been so wrapped up in the revelations that she'd barely recognized that Zerori had been the person Maeve had been speaking with, did Maeve KNOW they had been there? She'd managed to call the two who had done the most to allow Zucceta and Bing to have their confrontation, was Luffa the last number in the call? The one that hadn't picked up.
Unlikely all things considered, perhaps it was simply a coincidence. “You have nothing to worry about Maeve” Habana finally spoke up again a bit louder this time to ensure the others could hear her “You are a strong and capable woman, I saw that myself on Earth, Bing was incredibly powerful, one of the strongest beings I've ever seen. You child will be a force unlike anything else, my mother was in a.. similar position to yourself raising a child by yourself is certainly not easy but I believe you have what it takes.”

Maeve let out a sharp exhale as she heard her two friend's reassuring words. She dotted her eyes with her palm as she let out a weak unbelieving giggle. "Y-Yes Zerori... I'm home. On Earth." She said, first giving Zerori the answer she was seeking. "A-And I'm sorry I didn't get to see you like I intended Habana...A-and given the circumstances I do not believe we will be able to have the chance anytime soon. At least not anything peaceful. The way things are...We'll be lucky if there isn't another war breaking out." She sighed, hanging her head as she let a few more tears fall unhindered. "People...People want blood...I can't blame them." Maeve said, almost reluctantly as she held her head. "They want vengeance. They want to see Vegeta burn. For...A brief moment of weakness I was with them. As I said, I stood at the gates. I swore to avenge Bing but... The more I see people warped by their hate the more I realize that blood is not what I seek. I just want peace. Bing would have wanted that too I think. I want to honor his memory." Her tears stopped dropping as her breathing evened out. Determination slowly crept in her voice.
She slowly stood up in her chair, keeping both palms on the desk as she looked to the two names on the screen. She toyed with their words before she took a breath and made her declaration. "I'll continue to seek peace... Even in these troubled times. For my child... As you both said I'm strong and capable so...I'm going to take my husbands mantle for my own." "I'm going to become the Kami of Earth. So I can protect that peace and hopefully sway everyone from the war they so desperately crave."

Giving a deep sigh of relief without realizing it in the scouter, Zerori could feel the fluttering heartbeat of anxiety start to die down little by little. She was safe, which meant that she wasn’t in immediate danger. As Maeve responded to Habana, the Commander thankfully not saying anything to make the demoness worry more, Zerori would take a few steps back to lean against a tree near her and slide down it. In under the course of a minute, she’d been informed that a friend was distraught, in danger, pregnant, and then finally… safe. Who needs enemies when you’ve got friends that can make ya sweat? Zerori thought with a playful smirk.
However, problems had only just begun…
At the prospect of war, Zerori’s mouth down turned into a frown. If that mattered to her in anyway, it would be that her friends would likely be in danger and her mission… may be disrupted indefinitely. Closing her eyes at the mention of wanting vengeance for Bing, the saiyaness’ heart fell deep in her chest. I… I’m gonna have to face that. And she is NOT gonna like it… For a few moments, Zerori wondered if the connection was severed when it seemed like Maeve hadn’t spoken for a full thirty seconds. Just as she reached for her scouter, her hand paused as Maeve continued.
And the news wasn’t quite what Zerori had in mind for the expecting young lady, “…What? Please, tell me you’re not serious.” As she waited for an answer, she would continue with as reserved as a voice as she could muster, “If there was anything I could advise against, Maeve, it would be exactly that! War looming on the horizon and you want to throw yourself into it with the notion of peace? It’s…” She growled softly, bring a hand up to rub the bridge of her nose, “-I just don’t think that’s going to work. It didn’t work for Bing and it’s unlikely to work for you.” Her tone lightening up, she asked instead, “Why not rest, instead? Lay low until you can get more support from… what were they?” She paused, trying to remember their name, grumbling some soft obscenities as she did so. “Those freedom fighters that attacked Realigner… ‘Z-Zee Fighters’?”

“I don't know about that Zerori, I think Maeve stands a strong chance of achieving her goals by taking up Bing’s mantle” Habana said almost matter of factly as she tossed Gin onto her couch the young saiyan groaning to himself as he slowly began to regain consciousness as Habana took a seat on one of her armchairs “Ideally you should avoid direct conflict until the birth of your children so as to prevent risk to them, something I imagine you’ve already thought of. Bing was incredibly powerful, he is probably the sole reason I no longer see my human blood as a hindrance to my power, Humans are far from the weaklings that the average member of the race appears to be.”
“And when he died he was without a doubt one of the strongest beings in the universe. We both saw and felt as much Zerori, the fight between him and Zucceta was all but completely even, I could feel how well matched they were.” Habana sighed as she thought back to the battle “In my ideal world things would have gone differently, Zexama would have stayed down and you and the others would have helped speed up the evacuation and I would have gone to oversee the battle between Zucceta and Bing.”
“I'm not sure if it would have changed anything though, if I could have talked her down from killing him or not. I just wish I’d gotten a chance to try, Bing was pleasant even if his goals were contrary to the Empire’s, even under as tense a situation as Kanassa was he greeted me pleasantly. If you choose to walk a similar path there is no reason you can’t become a warrior as powerful as him, if not stronger.”
“I don’t necessarily agree with the mindset, peace is not exactly something that gels with the saiyan mindset, but it did well for Bing, perhaps all you need is to decide where you can improve on his ideals and methods, make them stronger. Allying yourself with others as Zerori suggested would not be a bad idea.” Habana said shrugging to herself, it felt just a bit odd to be offering advice to what amounted to an enemy combatant, the war they spoke of was one with the Empire itself. But a strong opposition could only do well for the Empire, Bing was a prime example of this, his impossible strength had pushed Zucceta to a level beyond a super saiyan. The whole Empire needed something like that, someone in the galaxy that could plant their feet and fight back, push the Empire to a whole new level.
What Habana failed to realize and what would almost certainly infuriate her fellow hybrid, was that as she spoke she had made a few direct references to the fact that they had BOTH been on Kanassa, where Zerori wanted no part in revealing that information to Maeve Habana saw no reason to lie to the demoness by omission or otherwise.

The room around Maeve seemed to darken as her vision focused solely on the screen in front of her. The voices started to turn into a muffled blur as the hot sting of betrayal pierced her heart. Memories of the north that once portrayed Habana in a sympathetic light shifted into something much darker. She was no friend. She wasn't any different than Zucceta. Then again, why did she ever think she could be? Zerori who she thought was a friend apparently was there as well. Did she leave Bing to die too? Why did she keep quiet when Habana was so willing to give up the information? Anything was really possible, because, how well did Maeve know Zerori? Did Maeve just imagine that they were friends? Was she just deluding herself into believing that they were good people? Could her father be right about mortals?
Maeve sat there, with a souless look in her eyes, holding her head in both of her arms. Warm tears poured like a river trickling down her face as the two sides within her psyche raged war with each other. The more irrational and emotional side wanted to twist their images to suit some sort of villainous persona. She wanted to blame them, to let them know it was their fault and swear vengeance. The mere thought of tearing into them with a fire capable of burning any bridge was a tantalizing one. She didn't need them! They weren't really her friends! She didn't even know them.
As she opened her mouth to speak she'd inhale and feel...Hollow... It could have been just her timidness and fear of rejection warning her and forcing her to submit but Maeve felt it was different than that. As she sat and digested Habana's words she realized that there wasn't any malice in them. In fact, she could tell that she was regretful and that it had actually weighed on her. She hadn't made the right choice by any means but she didn't want the outcome that was given either. While she probably deserved some of the blame Maeve found herself unable to bring forth the fire.
"Habana..." Maeve's voice finally came out. It was weak, and she was audibly trembling. "Your words are tearing me apart Habana... I...I want to believe you didn't want for this to happen but...I can't help but feel betrayed in a way. We went to great lengths to make sure you and Zucceta survived the incident in the North. When everyone else was so crazed for blood it was Bing and I who were convinced that you and Zucceta deserved to be spared! I remember laying there in a pool of my own blood from a wound you caused begging him not to kill you. It feels like now all I have to show for that kindness is these two scars." She said, looking to the scar on her chest from Habana's fist and then to the faded Rune where her connection to Bing used to be.
The air turned silent. A pin could drop and it'd sound like the apocalypse was suddenly raining down outside. Maeve let her words hang before shutting her eyes slowly.
"But...I don't know the entire situation. It'd be easy for me to put you into a corner with my grief but... I still believe in you. Both of you... Maybe I'm just a fool like you imply Zerori but as much as I'd like to be angry I know it would only serve to tear me apart further inside...Bing's dead . It's a truth I've been struggling to accept but I need to so I can be strong. Looking into the what if's or getting mad at people for how they handled an unwinnable situation wont change the facts..." She rubbed her eyes. Giving a little sniffle as she steeled herself.
"I want the whole story though. Both of you. You owe me that much at least..." She thought of Zerori, her voice turning ever so slightly cross as she imagined her withholding the information from the start. She briefly wondered if Zerori would ever tell her about her involvement.
No...
She probably wouldn't have. Confronting her was the right thing to do.

The silence of the forest around her couldn’t have felt more burdening as the Commander of the Saiyan Army just… kept going. She’d long since covered the topic that the saiyaness had hoped to ignore and completely gloss over, and she just held her jaw in one hand (covering her mouth) with an absolute livid expression on her face. When mentioned by NAME about the evacuation, she closed her eyes and remembered painfully… that they didn’t actually evacuate anyone. Or really… there weren’t many left to evacuate. Taking her hand from her mouth, Zerori hissed softly, “You… Damn…” She should have known better than to trust in the commander’s judgment and this just took the god damn cake.
No, she wasn’t going to keep it to herself forever… but she certainly wasn’t going to tell Maeve, mourning and PREGNANT! If stress was something she was trying to avoid for the young demoness, this certainly wasn’t her topic of choice!
She’d get back at her… somehow. But now, she… had to figure out what to say to Maeve. “I… Shit, look. I’ll… do my best, but I wasn’t trying to keep it from you... forever. Plus, it’s not like it was the best time,” She emphasized that with a snarl, hoping Habana would get the picture, “-to go blabbing about the how, why and who in regards to Bing’s death. No, I didn’t want it but I didn’t exactly protect your… h-husband?” By the Gods, this was going to take getting used to.
Scratching the back of her head, she tried to go right into it, “What I did was… in my mind, necessary but the crux of it was that I found an opportunity and took it. To be vaguer… The Queen wanted power for some kid and planted the tree in a half-dead planet known as Kanassa. Before choosing a side, I was investigating the occurrences. Normally, I wouldn’t care to get my self involved in politics but someone I didn’t expect showed up… a-and…”
Biting her lip, she had to bite the words out. “-Changed my mind. I was angry, betrayed and… quite honestly terrified. Terrified that no matter what side I chose, he would have likely died so I... thought that I could scare 'em off, y'know?" Her argument was so weak she could hardly believe her own words. Back pedaling, she pitched a different argument, "I have a goal, Maeve… and I can’t stop until I bring my little girl back. For power, I chose to defend that god forsaken tree and the sacrifice was Bing Gan and the victory of that planets’ survival. I regret Bing’s death but he also CHOSE to fight the Queen alone. That man is too damn stubborn to accept surrender…” Finishing, she felt like throwing up with how much information she revealed. If she was more contrite maybe it wouldn’t feel as… scandalous about telling the widow great details of how her husband died and what her involvement in it was.
Taking the scouter off of her face, Zerori stared at it for a few moments before muttering, “With a friend like me, who needs enemies, huh?” She wanted to pitch the motherfucking thing so far right now...
(Sorry, changed a lot of this post because of interruptions. Hope it's not too confusing!)
