Daika Bastion's PL:51,250 The misty forest around the Lookout Tower was a mysterious place. Even in the modern age, nobody had truly colonized the vast woods, which remained a place that those not quite at home with society lived. Among these was the Clan of the living plant, the Verdant. While they technically did not HAVE to live there, their creator, Walker, had been most specific with the safety measures to take after his journey to the afterlife. If they were attacked, he would be unable to retrieve them from the afterlife himself, and the relatively weak fledgling species had little odds of managing to escape themselves. As it stood, few knew of the hidden city's location, the towers and buildings disguised by trees and vines in the sunken valley the island stayed hidden in. The Verdant moved about, the few with Power Levels watching the others, and keeping an eye out for any approaching threats. Bastion observed the mobile plants, some moving materials, others training to get themselves to Legion level. It wasn't anything like an actual fortress or monastery, yet, but it was coming along acceptably. Frowning slightly beneath the mask he wore, Bastion glanced upwards. A Power Level was approaching... minimal, but there. He would have to investigate. Nodding to Slither, the tree summoned his Ki, rising upwards and out, still below the canopy but out of sight. It felt low, but quite natural. If this being was suppressing it's Ki, it was doing it quite cleverly. Ah well, he would see what was going on. The energy wasn't headed directly for them, but it was not far off. Rising up, he peered through the trees, narrowing his eyes. What did they have to contend with... Slither, always helpful in that regard, set up a telepathic link, meaning if he went down, the rest of the Cathedral would have time to flee.

While normal combat training was a good test of strength and speed, you could only test your stamina under extreme conditions. Running in the same direction for several hours without a break, could be counted as one. He was running in a straight line west, only stopping to fly over a large body of water that had gotten in his way. All normal people would have seen is a blur of white as the Albino passed them on their way to work, however his power level was still a beacon to those who could sense ki or had scouters.
Currently, he was approaching an area of the land known as Fukurou Forest, which had been called by many people who lived nearby a haunted place, filled with spirits that lived inside trees. Naturally, Daika decided to ignore these warnings. However, as he came closer to the great forest, he started to detect strange Ki signatures. He had sensed the ki of Humans, Saiyans, Majin’s and Wolf-people, but this Ki seemed… entirely different. Curious, the Saiyan stopped his walk, leaped up into the air and began to fly over the forest, looking for anything that might own such a strange feeling Ki.

As Daika flew onwards, a shape suddenly appeared from the tree-line, hovering in front of him. Standing with arms folded behind it's back, and wearing a strange white armor, Bastion floated gently as he observed Daika. "A Saiyan... although I confess, I was unaware they could possess such hair color. I am Bastion, Who might you be?"
He continued to watch, rather curious as to what this one was doing here. He was under the impression Saiyans and Half-Saiyans only had one hair color, unless they went Super Saiyan, but if this was a transformation, it was an incredibly small one. No Ki aura, no moving hair, and as far as he could tell, no arrogance and rage. Then again, if he hadn't dealt with Celmaru, he would have just assumed that to be standard with the Saiyan package.
Glancing down below, he noted the other Verdant still going about their business, but keeping a careful eye on the sky. Good. The last time someone had decided to just "Show up" to the island, it had resulted in the utter melee that he still shuddered at. Good lord, the tactics displayed were simply atrocious. No sense of overarching strategy at all.

As he flew further into the forest, a massive… living… tree suddenly flew up from the tree line until it was directly in Daika’s flight path. It wore white armor, which puzzled the Saiyan. He had met some kind of plant woman before, but her husband and his teacher, Celmaru, had assured him it was just a spirit inside of a body that was made for her. He then told the Albino warrior that tree-people did not exist. Well, it looks like today he had been proven wrong.
Tree people. Y’know, I wonder when I will be told the truth about these things instead of being lied to over and over again. The tree-man introduced himself as Bastion, a rather strange name. Next this “Bastion” talked about his unusual hair colour, and asked why the Saiyan was here. By now, the Albino Saiyan was almost expecting every new person he met to say at least something about his Albinism. It always seemed to interest people, but to himself the whole subject was boring. Repeatedly, he had to tell people why he was like that, and it looked like today was no different.
“No, you are quite right. White hair is a very unusual trait for Saiyans. Greetings Bastion, my name is Daika, a Saiyan that has been stranded on earth. I’m sorry for any intrusion, but I was just walking around the local area when I detected many different power levels, most of which I assume are your friends who are all down there.” He gestured his hand down to where the rest of the Verdant were walking about.

Nodding in return, Bastion chuckled slightly. "Indeed. Normally, there would be quite a few larger powers, either my father, or his student Celmaru. However, my father is away, and Celmaru is with his wife, I believe." Turning to one side for a moment, he frowned. Why DID he seem to encounter so many Saiyans? It seemed Saiyans and Half-Saiyans appeared far more than any other race. He had only encountered one Majin, a single Namekian and Android, and yet he had seen 5 Saiyans or half-saiyans. It was rather odd. Shrugging slightly, he turned back.
"What faction are you a part of, if I may ask? Or are you merely an independent fighter?" His eyes roved over the Saiyan's uniform, looking for an SSE symbol. If he was an SSE soldier, this would be quite the problem. The Cathedral could not be allowed to be found by the SSE again. It would be quite possible genocidal for the nascent race that called it home. Disguising his unease, he waited for Daika to answer.

“Wait, did you say Celmaru? The Hybrid, with a wife by the name of Phae?” The Saiyan replied, surprised at this new revelation. I see. So he knew that these plant people existed, and he still chose to lie to me. Well, at least I will have a few more questions to ask him when I get back. This was a very interesting revelation, and it only served to make the Warrior even more curious about these plant creatures.
He then asked what faction the Saiyan owed his allegiance to. Although currently, he was not really a member of anything, he knew why the tree asked such a question. The inhabitants of Earth would be very suspicious of the Saiyans, especially because of the invasion that happened not that long ago. “It would be a lie if I said I was never a part of the Empire, all Saiyans are forced in their childhood to swear fealty, after all.” His own childhood was a subject he chose not to talk about, and for good reason. “However, there are a few who decide to leave the Empire of their own free will. Most of them are branded as traitors and are hunted down ruthlessly. I myself am not a traitor, however I would not classify myself as a soldier of the Empire. According to “Official Reports”, me and my entire squadron was killed a month or so ago on a military mission. I however, managed to escape, and I crashed here on Earth.” In fact, now that he thought about it, most of his past before he came to Earth was a touchy subject. “Yes, I believe “Independent Fighter” is the proper classification. For now.”

It was good to see someone had the sense to leave the SSE, at least. Not all Saiyans were willing to do so, presumably because of the reasons this Albino saiyan was mentioning. After Walker had died, the tree had thought of the possibility he was only following his father because he had been born to do so. He had spent nearly a day considering what he wanted and why he wanted it, going over his own thoughts in the most cold and pragmatic of manners. Finally, he had decided that no, he was perfectly fine with doing what he did for his own reasons. It had been concerning, however, but nothing like decades of indoctrination.
"I am glad to hear that. Yes, Celmaru and his wife Phae. Celmaru is a student of my father, but I suspect he wished to keep his existence a secret, or you from him. The SSE has taken quite a bit from him, and I suspect that it was a reasonable fear that a being who could have, unless stopped, destroyed Planet Vegeta itself, might react poorly to you." He gave a slight shrug, looking out at the sky for a moment. "How have you come to know Celmaru? Is he training you, or are you merely acquaintances of some sort?"
He didn't sense much hostile intent in the Saiyan's body language. However, there was something rather odd. "Bizarre. Perhaps I am just imagining it, but... I could almost swear that you have a bit of brownish hair on your armor, in a few places. You have no such hair, however." It was a strange thing to notice, and normally he wouldn't, but with the albino's pale hair color, the hair stood out to the tree. "Do you have someone putting their head upon your chest, or some-such?"

He smiled as Bastion recognized the names. It seemed that Celmaru had quite the web of friends. Continuing to listen, he learned that his father was Celmaru’s teacher, and that the Saiyan Empire had taken many good things from him. However, what interested him was the fact that his father had apparently attempted to destroy Planet Vegeta. Most likely when the Queen and her Commander was away on a mission. A decent attempt to try and take down the Empire, although such an act would have most likely sparked the fire of vengeance, possibly starting a second invasion of Earth.
“Your father is the teacher of Celmaru? Despite the risks, I would like to meet him sometime. He sounds like a decent sort of fellow, which is a rare trait for one to have in these mad times.” Next, he inquired as to how Daika knew Celmaru and his wife, asking if it was possible that Celmaru was training him. “It seems you have a keen mind, Bastion. Indeed, the Hybrid warrior Celmaru is training me. Although I’m not sure if he accepted my request because I asked nicely or because of what happened beforehand.” He thought back to the spar that he the two had fought, provoking a Super Saiyan into punching you was definitely not a good idea now that he looked back.
Apart from his mind, the great Tree-man seemed to have keen eyes as well, as he noticed several strands of Arias’s hair on his armor. He looked down onto his chest, and sure enough, there were several adorning his chest plate. He used his hands to pick each piece of hair off, collecting them into his hand. “Yes, it is not my hair. I must confess, that this is in fact the hair of my mate, the woman that I love. She likes to lean on my chest when she is upset, which is where all this hair came from.”

Bastion nodded, tapping his chin for a moment. It was only a few hairs, but long, which didn't necessarily mean female, but Daika had indicated it was a she. Saiyans typically had black hair, not brown, and Daika had a relatively normal Power Level for a Saiyan fighter. Frowning, the tree turned towards Daika again. "I apologize, but... you said you were an SSE Renegade, correct? Does your mate perhaps look like this?"
Mentally contacting Slither, he transferred a mental image of that Saiyan girl who had appeared during the utter clusterfuck that was the events atop Mt. Paozu. Slither passed on the mental image, and in a moment, Daika would have the image of Arias in his head. "I met her recently, and she seemed... rather hostile. She was also apparently loyal to the SSE." His voice was light, but a strange edge had entered his voice as he considered the albino Saiyan.
"You know, Celmaru is a very good friend of my father. I promised to protect him, and I happen to know that at his power level, he would be both a threat and a valuable asset for the Empire, For and against respectively." He nodded his head back and forth, as if thinking about something. "I do hope you are not lying to me, or incorrect about your mate. I'm afraid I rate Celmaru's safety and peace of mind a tad higher than yours, after all." He chuckled, which somehow managed to sound both polite, and somewhat threatening. "I'd hate to have to bother him about this."

He listened to Bastion speak once more, asking him if his mate looked like… this? Did he have a picture or something? He was confused until an image of Arias suddenly popped into his head. So they are telepathic? Interesting. It was definitely Arias, but he was unsure when she had met the great Tree-man. Now that he thought about it, there were a lot of things she hasn’t told him.
“That is definitely her, Bastion.” After the image was transferred, he suddenly began to get a bit hostile, telling him that Arias was loyal to the SSE. Daika was aware of this, however she had assured him that she had left the SSE. “Although, due to a recent accident, she has somehow lost her hostility entirely. I’m not quite sure how it happened.” The incident had confused him greatly at the time. However, he was slowly getting used to the change. Although it was painful, he was somewhat grateful for her change in personality.
Bastion continued, speaking this time about Celmaru. He said that he promised to protect the Hybrid, and that his power could be both a threat and an asset to the empire if they ever found out about him. Daika understood this, because Celmaru could turn Super Saiyan, he could be a great enemy or ally for the empire. It was key that he stayed out of their sights. He asked the Albino if he was lying, and that he would have to talk to Celmaru about this.
The Saiyan held his arms out to his sides, talking as calmly and non-threatening as possible. “Did you not just use telepathy? Wouldn’t that mean you would know if I lied or not? Besides, Celmaru’s wife is also a telepath. If I had lied to Celmaru, I doubt I would be alive right now. By all means, if you doubt my answer, go ahead and speak to Cel, he would give you the same answer as I have.”

The tree's stance slackened, and he tilted his head, staring at Daika for a moment. Then, a bubbling laugh burst up from his mouth, and in a second, Bastion was laughing at the Saiyan. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Wait, wait. Did you think Telepathy involved reading your every thought and memory? Why would I even bother asking you questions, then?" Putting a hand to his face, he giggled for a few more seconds, before managing to get a hold on his emotions. Settling down, the tree faced Daika with a much more open stance, his tone friendly and far more jovial than it had been before.
"Well, on the plus side, that assures me of your genuine intent. If you had thought anyone with the skill could read your mind, there'd be no point in lying, hmm?" Chuckling again, he tilted his head. "Well then, I am glad to have met you, Daika. I hope your training goes well with Celmaru, regardless of the reason. I hope your relationship goes well too." He likely would have reacted differently if he had known about their adoptive daughter, but he wasn't privileged with that information yet, nor had he a reason to ask. Bowing slightly, he looked up at Daika.
"Is there anything I can help you with, while you are here?" After this revelation, he was quite a bit less guarded. Not entirely relaxed, but significantly more friendly. Any true friend of Celmaru's was likely to be a good person, and besides. If he had made that crazy Saiyaness defect from the SSE, there was clearly something special about the white-haired Saiyan. Besides his pale skin, that is. Down below, the Verdant continued to move in the shade, going about their work, the movements slow and calculated. It was a beautiful day, after all.

The Saiyans neutral expression slowly turned into a frown. He was laughing at him for thinking that you could use telepathy to read minds. “I’m sorry, perhaps if I could do such a thing myself I would have known.” Bastion’s antics were beginning to get on his nerves. Noticing that he was beginning to get angry, he quickly began to take deep breaths to calm himself down. Even though he was a bit peeved at the Tree-man’s antics, it was no reason to suddenly go angry with rage and try to attack him. Such a thing would only lead to his death, in any case.
He nodded as he wished his training with Celmaru went well, and his relationship. “It was good to meet you as well. You seem like the decent sort, Bastion. If your ever around the Bamboo Forest near Satan City, don’t hesitate to drop by.” He bowed at Bastion, just as he began to bow at Daika.
After asking if he could help the Saiyan with anything, he thought for a moment. This Bastion is really strong. Maybe I could spar with him a bit? He formulated the question he was going to ask in his mind, before pitching it forwards. “Um, I hope you don’t mind Bastion, but you seem really strong. Do you mind if we had a bit of a spar?” A grin began to form across the Saiyans face. He hoped that he accepted his offer, or else he would have to go back to more... boring exercise.

The tree was surprised. He hadn't expected that to be the request, but from a Saiyan... yes, it made sense. Chuckling, he moved into a battle stance, the odd open handed one he favored for bare-hand fighting. "Well, if you insist. Have at you, my friend." Leaping forward, he moved quite quickly, leg snaking out and snapping up at an angle, before he stepped inward and began delivering a series of punches toward Daika's torso. He wasn't going to hold back, in this case.
Besides, he secretly wanted to see how Celmaru's student had done. His father had trained Celmaru, and it would be shameful if the man's student was not at least somewhat competent. He would keep up the pressure, and see how he reacted to the attacks.
(Sorry, bit tired, and wasn't sure what to do other than say "Kay, let's spar.")

Whilst Daika was prepared for an attack that Bastion may make, he was still well outmatched by the mighty Tree. He had moved into his own battle stance just as Bastion began his assault, swiftly moving forwards to deliver a flurry of fists into the Saiyan’s stomach. The difference in speed and power was well visible, as the Saiyan tried to move out of the way, but failed horribly. He took every punch punch the tree’s massive fists, grunting as each blow pounded away at his torso.
However, as the blows kept coming, the Albino warrior charged a small sphere of energy in each hand, to throw at Bastion. After a bit more of a beating, Daika judged the time was right, and hurled them both at the Tree-man’s face, hoping to fend of his relentless assault. If they hit, the Saiyan would try to get behind Bastion, and throw a few punches of his own at his seemingly unprotected back.

As the Saiyan fired his Ki attacks toward the tree, Bastion whipped up his arms, trying to block them. He wasn't quite fast enough, however. The orbs smacked into his unprotected face, and Bastion staggered back, his Ki unstable for a second. The Saiyan used that chance to whip around behind him, fists smacking into his back. However, he was in for a surprise. "Remember who you're fighting. Do not assume!"
The tree chastised the albino warrior, even as he illustrated his point. His arms suddenly snapped backwards, bending 180 degrees around and slamming together behind him. No human's joints could have worked that way, but as the Saiyan was discovering, Bastion wasn't necessarily limited to human joint functioning. The fists were driven with great force, and followed up a second later by a backwards summersault, both feet whirling up and over for a brutal downwards kick. "Observe your opponents! Learn what they can and cannot do!"
