Soft grunts interspersed the rapid thuds from the clearing Aiami was currently training in. She was finishing up her session with some practice against a tree, using it as a post to strike. It was better than simply throwing a punch at the air, and with no one to spar with there was little other choice in her mind. Once she felt she had done enough she stepped back and breathed out, downturned palms pushing down her center as she did so.
A brief time later after she had cooled down, something which wasn’t hard with the constant chill of the northern lands, she packed up her small camp. Aiami had been in the thick clump of trees for about a day, but decided it was time to move on while there was light. She still had no idea where she was, or how she was going to get home to make sure her family were alright, but she thought it was best to keep moving rather than stay still for too long.
With her belongings safely packed away in a pouch on her back she took to the sky. She flew low and slow, hoping to avoid any unwanted attention. Aiami still hadn’t actually seen an invading Saiyan herself, but she saw the damage they could do, and she knew it would be a fruitless venture to fight one.
Glancing upwards, she tried to follow the path of the sun to travel south, but she kept losing it behind clouds, and ended up as lost as ever. It didn’t help Aiami found everything around her to look the same. Thick forest split by cold tundra plains, with sloping mountainous terrain marking the land, as well. Snow patches here, there, and everywhere. The young martial artist let out an uncharacteristic groan of annoyance as she hovered there, trying to decide on her next move.
Soon Aiami was following the mountains, flying low and alongside them, deciding that having any path was better than having none. As she flew she mostly minded her own thoughts, the ones of home, and her family. Somewhere along the line she had lost track of how long ago it was that she left home to explore the world, but she was stunned by how much she felt she had did. Most of her time was spent doing what she was doing now, but what happened in North City…
It still made her skin crawl, and it also made her realize just how underprepared she had been for the real world. Especially when it came to fighting. Aiami was still wrestling with the concept of using her skills for actual combat and not just friendly sparring.
Thankfully her thoughts were interrupted by a glimmer from the ground. Aiami stopped her flight, backing up some to get a better look. As she lowered it became more and more apparent, making it easy for her to find once she was on the ground. She approached what looked like a small rock formation on the lower end of the mountainside, almost tucking into the mountain itself, a large boulder resting inside of it.
Once Aiami got there the source of the metallic glint wasn’t readily available, at least not from the ground. She moved around the area carefully until something stood out from the rocks and pebbles that littered the space at her feet. Gently, she leaned town to get a better look at the object, and was surprised by what she saw. There was a rusted, beat up bullet lying there, and after testing it with her finger she found it was wedged quite solidly into the ground. She could get out if she wanted, but something stopped her, a feeling.
Aiami couldn’t explain it, but she stood, eyes tracing up from the tip of the long rifle round. She found herself staring right at the boulder, but now that she had a better look at it, there was a small nook on its left side. Lightly licking a finger she held it in front of the opening, and was surprised to find air was flowing from it. Her curiosity urged her to find out what lay through the crevice, but she couldn’t fit into that space.
Thankfully, Aiami had the ability to fix that problem. Resting her hands against the left side of the boulder she gripped and pulled, straining to shift the weight of the huge rock. She could tell it hadn’t been moved for a very long time, because it had nestled into its resting place. Once she had unhinged it, the boulder rolled aside easily enough, revealing a prize for Aiami’s curiosity, a narrow cave opening.
Moving inside, carefully, she made sure to watch where she was stepping. As it got darker, Aiami held out a hand, palm up, and formed a ball of ki to light her surroundings. The cave winded and turned for a few seconds more before she stepped into the cave proper, and was surprised by what she found. There were long tables set up in the middle of the cave, what was once a large fire pit, and tents lined the edges of the cave.
Something else caught her eye as she approached the tables. A weapon rack leaned against the table, and while it was mostly empty, there was a lone assault rifle, marred by misuse and worn with age. Aiami picked it up carefully to inspect it, before replacing it. The table was clear, but it had plenty of indents in it, as if someone once had a grand ol’ time going stab happy on the wood.
That left the tents. As she walked along them, Aiami noted that they were all empty, except for the last one she checked. There was some sort of old sack hanging out from the entrance to it. She check the rest of the tent to make sure it was empty before carefully picking it up to inspect it. There was a large zeni symbol emblazoned on it, and as she shifted her grip to get a better look at it, something within the sack tumbled until it fell out of a large hole in the bottom of the sack.
Looking down, Aiami tilted her head, and bent her knees, bringing the hand with the ki-turned-lightsource low to get a better look. Her eyes widened as she saw the bundled zeni, reaching down she looked it over, counting out a total of ...
(( … however much zeni the gracious grader gives! Thank you!))
